The next day came, and Kion told his friends about his grandmother's illness. Of course they were all shocked and sad. "That's horrible. I'm so sorry, Kion." Said Fuli. "It's fine, Fuli. It's just that it pains me to see my own grandmother wasting away. She wanted to come see you guys again, but this morning she woke up so weak." Said Kion. "Kion, if it's fine with you, may we go see her?" Asked Beshte. Kion thought for a moment, he wanted to let Sarabi rest, but he knew she didn't have much longer, and so he agreed.

At Pride Rock, Rafiki was giving Sarabi some water when the Lion Guard came into the den. "Ah, Kion. You're back so soon?" Asked Sarabi. "Well we wanted to come and see you, your majesty." Said Ono. Sarabi coughed before looking at them again. "It's getting worse I'm afraid." She said. "Wow mom, way to be positive to the little ones." Said Simba. "Oh will you hush." Sarabi said, glaring at her son, earning a laugh from the Lion Guard.

Kion looked down at his sick grandmother. "Grandma, if there's anything you need, me and the Lion Guard are happy to do it." Said Kion. Bunga suddenly stepped in. "What? Kion, today is supposed to be our day off!" Said Bunga. Sarabi was feeling rather hungry, so she sent the Lion Guard to go fetch her a zebra. "Wait, not you badger. Since you don't seem to want to work, you can stay here." Bunga was about to sigh in relief, but then Sarabi spoke again. "And stand up against the wall on your head until they return." Bunga's jaw dropped, and Sarabi smirked. The Lion Guard wished him luck before they left.

The Lion Guard was able to catch a zebra with ease. They found a lone zebra of about medium size, and Beshte lured it into a secluded area of the Pride Lands. There, Fuli leaped out of some tall grass and slayed the animal. Beshte couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy seeing Fuli lick the blood off of her claws. "Pua. I feel bad now for this poor zebra. We should of brought him back to his family." He said. "Don't worry Big B. It's all part of the Circle of Life." Said Kion. "Also, it's for the former queen. Speaking of which, we should get back now." Said Fuli. Kion, Beshte, and Ono all agreed.

Back at the den, Bunga was still on his head. When Sarabi saw the Guard come in, she allowed Bunga to come back onto his feet. He felt very dizzy and lightheaded. "Hey Fuli… Have you always had two heads…?" Bunga asked as he wobbled. Fuli put on a blank expression. Kion slid Sarabi the dead zebra, and she thanked all of the Guard for it.

Later when she was done eating, her stomach began to rumble. She knew what was coming. "Mom, do you need to throw up?" Asked Simba. Sarabi nodded, and Kion quickly fetched an empty melon skin that was converted into a bowl. Sarabi threw up inside of it making auditable gagging and gasping noises. Everyone in the den cringed. "Bunga, you're the only one here with posable fingers, may you go outside and dump this?" Asked Sarabi. Bunga felt too sorry for Sarabi to say no, and so he hesitantly agreed. He picked up the bowl, feeling as though he would vomit himself.

About a week went by, and Sarabi's condition continued to deteriorate. The back of Pride Rock reeked of blood filled vomit and diarrhea, Sarabi could no longer stand up and walk, and Kion, despite carrying out his Lion Guard duties, was having his mental health shattered by this.

One day, Kion came back to Pride Rock very late in the night due to an emergency, and he saw that everyone was asleep, except for Sarabi. "Can't sleep, Grandma?" Asked Kion. Sarabi looked up, she now had bags under her eyes. "It's quite hard to sleep when every part of you aches..." Sarabi said weakly. Kion laid himself down next to Sarabi, and placed his head on her shoulder. "I'm not ready for you to go." Said Kion. "Me neither. But I am, weather any of us like it or not. Now try to get some rest." Kion closed his eyes, and he felt Sarabi's paw wrap around him. He also felt her lick his cheek softly. "I promise I will always love you…" That was the last thing Kion heard before falling into a deep sleep.
