Flashback
"Dialogue"
'Thoughts'
Wealth, Fame, Power
The seven members of the Justice League returned to what appeared to be the Watchtower.
"We're back," Diana pointed out.
"I'll check the area just to be sure. I get sick and tired of illusions from our regular baddies," Flash said as he ran around and came back.
"Coast is clear," Flash said casually as GL looked at him in bewilderment.
"Well, I assume everyone is waiting for outside," J'onn pointed out.
"Oh, they must've been so worried," Diana said as she exited the meeting room. The rest pursued as well.
When they exited, they were greeted by an astonishing number of gasps and whispers as if they died. Heroes from every team across the world cheered the original seven's return.
"You're back!" Green Arrow shouted in excitement as he went for a big hug to Batman who just glared at him.
"Don't glare, we missed all of you." Green Arrow said nonchalantly.
"What happened?" Another hero known as Atom Smasher asks.
Superman looks at his friends and turns back to Atom Smasher and said, "It's a long story."
At Avengers Mansion, the heroes that disappeared reappeared in front of everyone who was busy searching for them.
"What the hell is going on around?" The hero known as Night Hawk asked out of annoyance and bewilderment.
"I don't even know." said another hero known as Ultra-Girl, but she was glad they were back.
Spider-Man looked at his friends and simply replied with, "It's a long story."
"Wait... wait... let me get this straight," Booster Gold spoke up as everyone looked at him. "You're telling us that something known as an incursion is going happen, but you guys are going to prevent it with this other world of heroes you've met because they have experience with them? And the world you all are visiting is a world of pirates and marines?"
"That is what they said, sir," said Skeets, his robot friend.
Booster Gold ignored Skeets as J'onn responded, "That is correct, it may appear to be outlandish, but it is the truth."
"Question, how exactly or do we know why what's causing this particular incursion or does that other world of heroes know about it and is just hiding it?" A skeptical Guy Gardner asked.
"If they did, I would've detected it or we would've fought them about that," Batman answered.
"That doesn't help in which they could be lying to invade our world," This time Hawkman retorted.
"Just trust us on this," Superman pleaded. "A lot of us... we've lost a lot when it comes to a crisis, when the world always seems like its ending. I know in our hearts that we have made decisions that sometimes don't sit well with others. That doesn't mean we have to be at each other's throats about it. We're the Justice League, we will always figure it out."
"In any case, we will let any of you know if we are in danger and need help," Hal said to the rest of League.
The rest of the League didn't know what to feel to be honest. An incursion didn't seem extraordinary out of what they've seen in their usual day-to-day lives. Alien dictators, mad gods with a lust of power, it's all the same as they have triumphed over all of them. They are the world's greatest heroes.
"So, that's it? Another incursion?" Moondragon asks out of anger, but also inside her a little fear.
"That's it... and in case any of you remember the last time that happened, our world was destroyed. I think these other heroes have had experience with the multiverse," Captain America said.
"How long we got?" Luke Cage asked.
The heroes that visited the Watcher and met the new heroes from Prime Earth all looked ashamed and on the floor.
"We don't... know," Xavier replied as a lot of gasps could be heard across the room.
"Then how can we trust those other heroes from another Earth? What if they are the bad guys?" Dazzler asked.
"You don't know that." Spider-Man retorted. "They seemed very willingly to help us."
"A lot of times, we've made mistakes, infighting, and have joined into different factions because of ideology. We're not going to resort to that ever again," Stever began.
"We will handle this like heroes and win like them. Whoever our new enemy, they'll wish they never met us." Steve said as he raised his shield.
"AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!" He shouted as the others got hyped.
"Does he always do that?" Egg asks his fellow mutant friends as they chuckled. One of them (Magik) answered, "Yeah, I wish he'd stop including everyone as Avengers since some of us aren't."
Superman and the original seven said their goodbyes as they awaited to teleported back to where Spectre and The Watcher met the 616 heroes.
"Be safe, Kal." Kara said to Clark.
"Yeah, be safe." Connor said.
"Don't worry. I'll always will be, I am Superman after all." Clark said as they all hugged each other.
Meanwhile, Batman and his Bat-family had a talk.
"Utility belt?" Nightwing asked.
"Yes."
"Shark repellant?" Spoiler asked as a joke.
He just glared at her, and she said, "Sorry, I couldn't help myself."
"I got everything, just keep Gotham safe while I'm gone," Batman said as the rest of the Bat-family (Nightwing, Spoiler, Black Bat, Red Hood, Red Robin, Robin, Signal, Batgirl, Batwoman, and Batwing) all gave him a hug.
"Be safe, father." Damien said as Bruce acknowledged it.
Meanwhile, Wonder Woman hugged her fellow sisters, Donna Troy and Cassandra Sandsmark.
"How's the new Wonder Girl going?" Diana asked.
"She's doing fine," Cassandra paused. "We're going to miss you."
"Do not worry, sisters. All of us will come back and we will train harder than ever," Diana said as she hugged her proteges.
Nearby, The Flash looks at his fellow proteges, proud of them of who they are and the heroes they've become.
"Uncle Barry, please be safe," his nephew Wally who's also the Flash places his hand on his shoulder.
"Thanks Wally," Barry said back. As the rest of the Flash family give him a huge hug.
"You got that device in case that world doesn't have any Speed Force?"' Jay Garrick asked him.
"Yep, but I think I don't need it on this mission," Barry said being a bit cocky.
"Don't get too cocky, grandpa." Bart Allen said as Barry nodded. He knew Bart was right, whatever enemies this new world has, it won't be easy.
Even further down the Watchtower, the Green Lanterns just all stared at each other, however, it was out of worry. Hal began, "Guardians are aware of my mission?"
"Yes, surprisingly, they're ok with it as long as one of us keeps Sector 2814 safe," John Stewart said.
"How's Simon, Jessica, and the new recruit from Earth, what's her name..." He tries to remember. "Sojourn! That's her name."
"They're good. Guy and I will keep a look out in case anything happens. The Justice league has the full support of the Green Lantern Corps," John said as Guy nodded.
"Hal, just be safe, pal. If not, I'll find the guys that killed you and bring them to the Guardians," Guy said.
"When did you have a heart?" John asked in amusement.
"What? I can have a heart. I just don't show it as much compared to the bleeding-hearts," Guy said as he gives Hal a fist bump. Hal shakes his head yet gives one in return.
Another member J'onn gave M'gann a nice, touching hug. "Please do not do anything that would make me worry about you, uncle J'onn." She spoke.
J'onn placed his hands on her shoulders, "It is ok, M'gann. I'll be back like I always do." She had a worried face, but she knew he'd be back.
Speaking via hologram, Aquaman looked at his fellow poeple and proteges, Aqualad, Lagoon Boy, Tempest, Dolphin, and Aquagirl.
"So, that snail we found is the cause of all of this?" Tempest asked.
"I'm actually surprised, however, why can't we bring the Titans or Young Justice or even the JSA on this?" Lagoon Boy asked.
"It's good everyone wants to help, but who will protect our Earth?" Arthur asked back. Lagoon Boy apologizes to his king.
"I understand your concerns to help, but Earth needs its heroes," Arthur said as they all wished their king well.
"Yes, my king." Lagoon Boy said while bowing his head.
"We will do our best," Tempest said as well.
The heroes of Earth 616 give their hugs and goodbyes. Each one gave their gratitude and hope for the future.
Spider-Man patted Kamala Khan's head, she tries to swat it away out of annoyance, but smiled. "See ya, little one. As well as the rest of you," he said as he high-fives Miles, Hope Summers gives a tight hug, and his clones Ben and Kaine gave him a thumbs up.
"You guys, know how to save—," he paused. "No, let me say this, keep our world safe as usual," Spidey said as they all nodded.
Cyclops said his farewells to his fellow mutants as well as Beast and Xavier, though Wolverine wasn'tmuch of a shaker, so he just did a slight wave.
"You think this world will hate mutants like ours," Beast asked.
"I highly doubt it, but worst comes to worst, we will defend ourselves," Cyclops said.
The Avengers said their goodbyes to Tony and Steve. Steve smiled at all the hugs he was given, while Tony gave a lot of high-fives, even if some of them didn't like him.
"Good luck you two," Natasha said. They both nodded and waved.
The Inhumans wished their king Black Bolt and Medusa gave a nice kiss to her husband. "Good luck, my dear." She said as he acknowledged her and gave Medusa one more kiss.
The Eternals (the ones that Sersi and Ikaris associate with) wished their friends well on a safe journey.
"Ikaris, you mind getting me a souvenir?" Sprite asks cheerfully as Ikaris sighed.
"What would you like from that—wait, I don't even know what I would get for you, since I don't know this new world that well." Ikaris said as Sprite pouted.
He noticed the pout and patted the kid's head. "But I'll find something alright." Sprite got giddy and cheered. The rest of the Eternals chuckled at this interaction.
Black Panther met up with Storm as she was just done saying her goodbyes to her fellow mutants and said "Ororo, I know I haven't been the best husband. And I know I haven't been the greatest man I could be, but I want you to know despite our divorce, I will fight to keep our world safe from this incursion."
Ororo sighed and bit her lip. "I wish we could fix our relationship, T'Challa. I know I also haven't been the greatest wife or queen, but I want you to be safe."
"You were always a great wife, but me... I..." T'Challa didn't know what to say, but they both put each other's hands on one's shoulders in hoping they be alive soon.
Doctor Strange met up with Wong, Scarlet Witch, Nico Minoru, and Magik. Magik and Nico gave him a tight hug, while Wanda wished him well on his new adventure.
"Thank you, all of you. The world needs to be protected from terrible threats and this incursion isn't going to be the last. When I come back, I expect the sanctum to be in one piece," Strange said as they all nodded.
"With this incursion, do you know how you can stop it this time?" Wong asked.
"That's the problem in which we do not know what exactly the cause is, and like we shared with everyone this Incursion isn't just with two earths, but three. It's not normal, so we must find out the source and get to the root of the problem." Strange said as they all nodded.
Reed hugged his brother-in law, Sue, his best friend, and the kids.
"I'll be back and when I do let's celebrate with going to a family night out," Reed suggested.
"Sounds good, pal!" Ben Grimm cheered as Johnny grinned happily that his family was back to being happy after so long.
Namor stared at all the interaction, he said his goodbyes while being at Atlantis and to the Agents of Atlas, however, he was mainly silent here in this gathering wishing everyone good luck. He only wishes he could consider humans his allies, but he has no place in this world, so he keeps quiet.
"You're silent, Namor, that isn't like you," a voice said as Namor checked with his peripheral vision whose speaking with him. It was Triton of the Inhuman Royal Family.
"I thought you died?" Namor asked incredulously.
"I thought so, too." Triton said.
"So, how are you alive?" Namor asked.
"Something happened when I died, I just somehow re-awoke myself from it. I don't know, but Queen Medusa explained that I was in a chamber that was contained immediately, but it 'resurrected me,' somehow. It's hard to explain because even I don't understand it myself," Triton said sadly.
"Death… it's not easy to handle," Namor said.
"Or grasp… in this life." He paused. "Despite our isolation from the world, Inhumans will help all of you all the way. And with that I ask how you think in this new world you're going to visit differs from ours?" Triton asked.
"They have an Atlantis and the world we are going to visit is filled with pirates. I want to visit it to see how it is. Do their people have a king? A queen? What are they like?" Namor said as Triton smiled.
"Pirates?" Triton asked out confusion. Namor didn't say anything to that, however, a realization hit him.
"You want to like the humans in that world as well," Triton deduced. Namor didn't reply, just watched the scenery of humanity in front of him.
"You still want to find your place without feeling so contradicted with yourself?" Triton deduced even further because he understands Namor compared to the rest of the heroes. All of them just think he's an asshole, but deep down there's more to Namor that meets the eye.
"Alright, everybody ready," Tony said as he looked around. Everyone gave a thumbs up.
"Alright, Watcher, we're—" The 616 heroes that visited the Watcher, Spectre and the Justice League got teleported to the same dimension where they all talked.
"—ready…" Tony finished as he sighed. "I hate it when he gets us like that."
Steve chuckled as he told everyone to move forward and meet up with the Justice League.
After a few minutes, they approached where everyone was, and Spectre waved his hands around and the wanted posters of those people, both Earth 616 and Prime Earth heroes had seen before, floating around in the air and some heroes grabbed the posters.
"These guys, again?" Flash remarked.
"This group is known as the Straw hat Pirates, they're making a name for themselves in their world," The Watcher stated.
"What about them is so special?" J'onn asked.
"Nothing unusual, however, your mission as we stated before is to find the source of the coming incursion, to prevent we must have all of you be in civilian clothes and hide your identities. If you cannot find the source, we will send the Straw hats to you, though they'll be blissfully unaware," Spectre said.
"When you say, 'blissfully unaware'? You mean…" Beast started.
"They are unaware of incursions, the multiverse, anything of that sort," Spectre finished.
"Great, more problems to deal with," Wolverine muttered under his breath. Reed
"Maybe so, but if these are pirates, who's the captain?" Steve asked the cosmic beings.
"My money's on the Zoro dude," Spider-Man said in amusement as the heroes of both Earths rolled
their eyes, exception of Batman, Wolverine, Superman, Namor, Ikaris, Sersi, Diana, and J'onn waiting for
an answer.
"Be serious, right now, Spider-Man." Cyclops scolded him.
"Oh, I am. But something about these posters doesn't feel right to me. It's in my gut but does anyone get the feeling these pirates look more… what's the word… not-so evil…" Spider-Man pointed out.
That made all of them pause and have a realization.
"Wait a minute, you said that this world is of pirates and marines. And yet, you only showed us these Straw Hat pirates as if they are going to be our allies from their earth. Is there something going on that earth, you're not telling us?" Cyclops asked Spectre, who had a grim expression on his face.
To the League that expression said a lot since they know him better than the heroes of 616.
"Please, Spectre, what's the real problem with this earth?" Flash pleaded as they wanted to know.
There's something going on and the heroes wanted to get to the bottom of it. Spectre turned away from them still having that same grim expression. He witnessed it… all of it… while observing the multiverse with Phantom Stranger.
He turned to the heroes and spoke, "Paragons upon paragons fallen and risen. One world of items that could resurrect the dead, one world of those who collect souls from the dead, and let them live on in peace, one world where ninjas waged wars and battle to strive a greater peace, and many others continue to exist across the multiverse. However, this one is more… unique… a world where pirates and marines strive for their dreams and will…" He paused as that same grim expression was on his face. It was like he was saddened by what he saw.
"There was a moment in this world's history that changed everything… and trust us on this, do not ask about it on this world…" Spectre said.
"And this moment in their history?" Sersi asked as the others became intrigued by what Spectre was saying.
"The Void Century," Spectre said. The mentioning of that confused all of them even more. What is Spectre so worried about the League wondered?
"On that world, do not even bother asking about that," The Watcher warned.
"And why not?" Hal asked.
Now they both had grim expressions on their faces. To the 616 heroes that surprised them about The Watcher, and he literally watches over the multiverse.
"Cosmic being bullcrap," Wolverine muttered.
"Yeah, speaking cryptically isn't going to help," Spider-Man called them out though they didn't bother to respond to that.
"Please, heroes, trust on this, for the sake of your worlds, this world has yet to discover what exactly happened in that moment of history," Spectre said in a deepened, saddened voice. This astonished the League even more, especially the Trinity.
Wonder Woman wanted to know what exactly happened in this "Void Century" that's gotten Spectre and The Watcher, so freaked out about it. Plus, it must've been so horrible to witness.
Batman wanted to have the knowledge of the Void Century and wondered why in that pirate/marine world they cannot ask about it. It only rose his suspicions even further and a possible million questions he's thinking of.
Superman didn't care about the knowledge of the Void Century, but he was getting a terrible feeling about the whole mention of it. It was like a curse was struck by a magical witch or worse trying to work with Lex Luthor on something, such as saving the universe. He was hoping it wasn't going to resort to that.
"Many times, I've revisited that moment and when we say do not ask about it, we mean it. As as a Watcher, I cannot intervene, I cannot break my sacred vow. Spectre here and other cosmic beings have chosen to only help out in their worlds' dimensions they reside in. That world has no one to save it from itself," The Watcher said surprising everyone.
"What do you mean by that?" J'onn, Ikaris, Hal, and Tony asked simultaneously. This only increased the interest of this world to the heroes.
"That world has yet to have a savior," The Watcher said to them as they were getting a bit annoyed by the cryptic talk.
"Are you trying to say that these Straw Hat pirates are meant to save their world? But yet, their world doesn't have a savior, yet. What is the 'yet' in this conversation?" Beast asked.
"In a sense, yes and no. These pirates have gone through a lot, and we think your worlds will… take a liking to them. But be warned, the 'D' will blow up a storm again," Spectre cautioned.
"You mentioned that before to members of the Justice League… that 'D' will blow up a storm again, what exactly does it mean?" Hal questioned.
"In due time, you will understand. For now, let us put you into teams and work together to find out the source of the incursion," Spectre said.
Hal got irritated by his question getting disregarded but chose to not further think about the matter.
"Bunch of cosmic bullcrap…" Hal muttered.
"Team 1 will consist of Superman, Iron Man, Captain America, and Professor X," Spectre recommended.
"Team 2 will consist of Spider-Man, Batman, Cyclops, and Wolverine," The Watcher suggested.
"I'm not looking forward to dealing with tall, dark, and gruesome and the Canadian…" Spider-Man muttered under his breath, though Cyclops heard him and chuckled at that.
"Team 3 will consist of Wonder Woman, Sersi, and Dr. Strange," Spectre ordered.
"Team 4 will have Flash, Green Lantern, and Beast," The Watcher said.
"Alright! Yeah!" Hal proceeds to high-five Barry, who glared at him at the dire situation.
"Not the appropriate moment, GL," Flash scolded him for his immaturity.
Hal shook his head. "Can't have any fun around here."
"As we were proceeding," Spectre scowled at the Emerald Knight and the Scarlet Speedster for a bit.
"Team 5 will consist of Martian Manhunter, Black Bolt, and Ikaris," The Watcher said though he was annoyed at Green Lantern's antic earlier.
"So that leaves…" Namor said.
"Only us…" T'Challa, Reed, and Arthur said instantaneously.
"Team 6 will have Aquaman, Namor, Black Panther, and Mr. Fantastic," Spectre finished with the team set-up.
"Alright, now that we have our teams. Now what?" Superman requested stepping forward to the cosmic beings.
"Now the real fun can begin, first part of the mission is each team will go to specific locations in the Straw Hats' world. Team 6 will be at Saboady Archipelago," Spectre said. Team 6 took note of that and wanted to see
"Team 5 will be at location known as Reverse Mountain," The Watcher stated.
Black Bolt blinked a few seconds because he thought the name was odd and wondered why it was called that.
"Team 3 will be at Water Seven," Spectre said.
"Team 2 will be at Skypiea," The Watcher said.
"And Team 1 will be at the Lulusia Kingdom," Spectre said.
"What about us in Team 4?" Beast asked wondering why they were left out.
"You have the most important mission, you will be near a location known as Egghead Island," Spectre said.
"Ok, now that we have our locations. Disguises also have to be a part of this mission," Superman demanded.
"Especially with my outward appearance," Beast pointed out.
"I believe Doctor Strange should be able to help with that," Iron Man suggested.
"Who wants to be changed by my spell?"
None of them gave an answer.
"It will not harm you," he said disappointed.
Hank, Scott, Xavier, Logan, Steve, Ikaris, T'Challa, and Reed raised their hands.
Strange acknowledged this and casted a spell only letting Hank McCoy back into his original human-like appearance and gave him clothes, of course. Cyclops also was changed by the magic that gave him his sunglasses and regular attire. The same thing occurred with the others, especially Xavier, which got rid of his Cerebro helmet and gave back his bald-headed appearance.
Iron Man just pressed a button, and as his Iron man suit was nanotech revealing himself. GL just let the ring give his Hal Jordan appearance. Sersi manipulated her hero suit into something of a nice dress. Wonder Woman did her classic spin into a normal outfit. Superman just changed into his Clark Kent attire. Flash did the same thing. Batman changed into a regular casual outfit, leaving and hiding his utility belt. Spider-Man just changed into regular clothes, but he didn't feel comfortable taking off the mask, however, for the sake of the multiverse and Uncle Ben, he took it off.
Memories started to flush back to several 616 heroes, exceptions were Reed, Captain America but all of them say his name, "Peter?"
"Yeah, it's me," Peter said proudly.
"What did you—"
"I'll explain when we're done with this mission," Peter said.
The League found that oddly suspicious but decided not to snoop about it.
"What about you two?" Barry asked Namor and Arthur.
"If this a pirate world, most likely it'll be sea, so we'll remain there," Arthur suggested.
"Agreed."
"Alright, may your journey in this world be safe, and again if you cannot find the source, we will direct the Straw Hats to you," Spectre said.
"Perhaps, before all of you go. We could both show you something on the earth, you're going to visit," Spectre said.
"Is it going to something spectacular or horrendous?" Sersi asked as the rest looked at her either in agreement or incredulously.
"You'll see," The Watcher said as the scenery changed all around them. It was a town with an entire crowd almost like they were all going to see something in their lifetime. It was a vibe of adventure lurking all around these people and the heroes didn't know why they got that vibe. Though, one was about to admit it.
"This place reminds me of having strong sense of adventure," Wonder Woman commented looking around the area. She could ships docking, lots of stores, and wildly different people.
"Yes, almost like almost reminds me a mix of the 1600s, 1700s, and so on…. Yet I feel there's…. something else going on," Captain America said.
"As if someone is going to die today?" Flash asked the WWII hero.
"Whoever is dying, it sure is bringing the attention of all these…." Hal noticed a man in wooden handcuffs. "…people." He finished his sentence as he kept staring at the man.
It was a heavy rainstorm, a gathering people showed for an execution, and the execution was for a tall man (approx. 9'0). The man had thick black hair and a short, thick neck. He also had a curved black mustache. The outfit he wore was a red captain's coat, a blue shirt and had a yellow sash around his waist, also a white cravat around his neck, dark blue pants, and what appeared to be black sea boots. To top it all off, he had very intense eyes, almost hard to look away from him.
"Who is that guy?" Flash and Beast asked simultaneously.
"Justice League, Avengers, watch closely as this is the man that we have told you about... this is the man known as Gold Roger," The Watcher said as they got astonished by the revelation.
"You mean we're going to watch his execution?" Spider-Man asked bluntly.
"Well, he must've done something terrible as a pirate, otherwise, why wouldn't he be handcuffed and executed?" Wonder Woman said.
Spectre and Watcher shook their heads at that comment but refrained from saying anything.
Roger was going to the top of the platform now and the heroes, they were moving up to where he was, hovering to be exact.
"Well, this is…" Xavier started.
"Freaky, I know." Spider-Man added to Xavier's comment.
"I was going to say intriguing, but freaky works just as well," Xavier said.
As Roger got to the top, a guard asked him a question, and this interested the heroes' interest.
"Have you got any last words?" The guard asked. What was said next surprised the heroes of both universes.
"Can you please remove this? It's bothering me."
A pause.
"He seems… nonchalant that he's going to die?" Sersi asked first among the rest of the heroes.
"Yea, either he doesn't care about his life, or he doesn't fear death," Wonder Woman added.
Spectre and Watcher said nothing of the statement Diana just made, but it appears her statement was predicting something to occur.
"I cannot do that!" The guard snapped at the Pirate King. In which, Roger asked, "Where would I have to run?"
That surprised the heroes a bit. Why was he so nonchalant about being executed? Something wasn't right here.
"You feeling what I'm feeling?" Superman asked Batman.
"Yes," Batman replied.
"He's too nonchalant," Beast pointed out.
"Almost as if he already knows he's going to die," Ikaris said.
"Well, duh, he's going to be executed," Spider-Man added.
"That's alright, I guess I'm my own for this one." He said, walked a little bit, and sat down, "Just hurry up and finish it." He was unbothered by all of this.
The two guards turned their spears and were ready to execute him. The heroes had all conflicting thoughts.
Superman thought it wasn't his place to decide who lives and dies. He and the Justice League aren't judge, jury, and executioners and that they should strive to be beyond that by letting other countries' governments decide that. He only wished he didn't have to see Roger's execution as he felt there's something off putting.
Spider-Man thought and felt even though this Pirate King was going to be executed, he wondered what his crimes are as this execution didn't even read off his crimes. Maybe, they do executions differently in this world, his thoughts added further speculation.
Batman had a similar thought compared to Superman and Spider-Man, something felt off about this execution and as a detective he was going to get the bottom of it.
Captain America wondered what Roger did to deserve this many people to see his execution. The way it seems it was almost as if everyone watching wanted his life to end on this day. He remembers Watcher and Spectre mentioning about the One Piece and Kizaru mentioning the story back with Maria Hill. Then he remembered what Kizaru said about the story and what Roger said that sparked the Great Pirate Era.
Wonder Woman felt perplexed or confused by Roger. She wasn't sure why, but she had suspicions that were arising the more she hears the Pirate King talk.
Iron Man didn't know what to think. At the same time, he was wondering why Roger was just so unbothered about himself dying. He made mental note to investigate this in the future.
Flash wanted to ask Spectre and Watcher about Roger, but he reserved it until after the execution was over. He felt weirded out just seeing everyone wanting to watch Roger's execution.
Sersi felt amused by just seeing Roger. He reminds her and appears that he could actually talk to the Celestials, heck, the guy looks like he's an Eternal himself. He just radiated raw power and awe.
Green Lantern was wondering about Roger's crimes and why he felt about Roger came across to him that he doesn't seem like a bad guy. So, yes, he felt this execution was rubbish to him.
Mr. Fantastic ran a million thoughts in his head. Roger seemed to be not a typical pirate he would see in his world's movies and history books, granted he's got the appearance down, but the personality struck him as someone who likes to go on adventures.
Martian Manhunter crossed his arms and didn't know what to feel. So, he keeps watching to see anything he could pick up on Roger. This world to him felt unusual and that's saying something.
Dr. Strange felt Roger had a lot of power in him, and he didn't know why. Perhaps, if he'd explore this world more, he'd find out, but for now, he'd watch this execution to see what happens next.
Aquaman wondered why this Pirate King was going to get executed without his crimes being listed. If he's a bad king, might as well let the public know what he did.
Namor had similar thoughts to Aquaman as well Captain America. Perhaps, this treasure that Watcher and Spectre mentioned must be so important, if that's the case, how come no one managed to find it, but only this Pirate King?
Ikaris just wanted to see the execution over, as he thought all kings fall over time, no matter how powerful they are. He's seen and lived it in the history of his Earth. Not much different here, though he did feel Roger was powerful and could easily escape, yet chose not to?
Black Panther had seen many leaders fall to demise, especially kings who were either just good kings or terrible ones that brought havoc to their country. He had an odd feeling like the rest of the heroes here. Though, he wasn't sure how to describe it.
Wolverine had also seen many executions in his lifetime, especially where he grew up and lived. Not much different here. Though from what he could see from this Roger guy, he seemed pretty powerful and yet he was going to be executed in front of all these people.
Cyclops kept getting reminded of how many mutants get killed on his Earth. It was a painful reminder, but he got through it, it wasn't much better seeing a human go through it. From what he can see, Roger doesn't seem like a typical pirate.
Xavier wanted to read everyone's here, the ones watching the execution, however, the attempt failed as this was only a projection of what happened. Nevertheless, he continues to watch.
Beast wanted to study this world more. He wanted to find out if there were any scientists in this world he could talk to and discuss more about this world. It seems interesting enough to spark a feud between pirates and marines.
Black Bolt was silent as usual, but his thought dwelled on the King of the Pirates. As a fellow king, he wanted to know what his crimes were to deserve an execution. He only continued to watch.
However, a man started to yell loud enough for everyone to hear him.
"HEY! PIRATE KING!" The man shouted. "TELL US WHERE IN HELL YOU'VE HIDDEN ALL OF YOUR TREASURE! IS IT IN THE GRAND LINE OR SOMEPLACE ELSE?! YOU FOUND IT DIDN'T YOU?!"
"Of all the things to ask," Flash said in bewilderment as the others too were just surprised by the shouted questions.
"You there! Shut up!" The guard snapped at the man screaming.
"THE LEGENDARY TREASURE! THE ONE PIECE!" The man shouting asked the Pirate King.
"I see where this is going," Spider-Man quipped, but as he said that Roger started to chuckle and then it turned into a major laugh.
Everyone stares at him in awe, except the heroes who were silent, but were somewhat stunned by the reaction Roger gave.
"You want my treasure?!" He began.
"Just shut your mouth!" The guard snapped again, only this time at Roger.
"You can have it! I left everything from this world had to offer at that place!" Roger's last words were said as the guard ordered, "Execute!" Everyone was stunned, Roger was stabbed by the two spears.
The heroes didn't know what to say until Sersi pointed out, "Wait, did he die with a smile on his face?"
"WHAT?!" They all shouted, except for Black Bolt, whose eyes widened.
"That's…" Wonder Woman didn't know what to say.
"… so metal." Flash added and quipped.
"I'm in agreement," Spider-Man said.
Superman pointed at the audience of this execution, they were shocked and awed by Roger's words and then… they erupted into enormous cheers.
"Are they seriously cheering?" Flash asked still in bewilderment, this world was too strange.
"Never did I see anyone cheer about something that wasn't about the person just being executed," Black Panther commented.
"This treasure must be so legendary to be found that everyone just got it confirmed by the Pirate King," Batman said.
A pause.
"Yeah, that must be why. The One Piece must be hard to find and if it's legendary, people of that world must've thought it wasn't real," Ikaris said.
The projection of Roger's execution disappeared, and they were back in the void dimension where Spectre and Watcher had taken them.
The heroes vanished and Uatu jerked his head to look directly into Spectre's face returning into the same grim expression.
"When they find out about the truth of what that world is like, how do you think they're going to take it?" Uatu asked his colleague.
"I don't know. I wish not to think about it. Even in its history, not a day goes by that I wish I haven't witnessed the Void Century occurring in that world," Spectre said still bearing that grim expression.
I like to think in the multiverse a lot of cosmic beings witnessed the void century but couldn't intervene either due to a vow or they needed to let it happen as well as other disasters in other universes; I do believe though if a multiversal threat occurs such as an incursion, they should be able to handle it though in the marvel comic that was due to something else which I don't want to spoil.
