Chapter 2: Sandbersia

Out in the desert, a couple of Desert Scraptors were fighting over a piece of scrap. Just then, one of them started sniffing in the air. The others followed suite. Just then, there was a loud roar in the air, making them go wide-eyed. They started running away, but something started chasing them. One by one, the Desert Scraptors were getting picked off. Each of them was getting knocked down until the last one with the leadership horns was all that was left. But as it looked back, the thing chasing it pounced on it while roaring.

Meanwhile, the Trux and Tools were at the Bit Bug Oasis gathering Bit Bugs. "Ah, nothing like a good day at the Bit Bug Oasis catching Bit Bugs to start the day." Ty said. As Revvit and Click-Clack were catching Bit Bugs with their tongues, Dozer was watching out in the open desert with suspicion. "Something on your mind, Dozer?" Ty asked. "Yes. You've been staring out at the desert for hours." Revvit said. "Eh, there's something amiss here." Dozer said. "What do you mean, Dozer?" Skya asked. "We haven't seen a pack of Desert Scraptors since we got here. I don't like it." Dozer said. "Dude, just be glad we haven't seen any Scraptors." Ton-Ton said. "Yeah, Dozer. We can catch the Bit Bugs in peace without Scraptors trying to take us apart." Shredda said. But Dozer just kept staring out at the desert, knowing something was wrong.

Later, as the Trux and Tools gathered enough bits, they started heading back to the crater. Dozer kept looking out at the open desert for any signs of Scraptors. "Dozer, you can stop looking around the desert for Scraptors. There's not a single one in sight." Ty assured. "I know. That's the problem." Dozer said. Revvit started spinning his bits as he started to think. "I think Dozer might be onto something. We should've run into Desert Scraptors by now, but we haven't seen a single one since we arrived at the desert." He said. "So, if there are any Desert Scraptors, where are they?" Spinz asked. "Hold on. I think I see something in the distance." Skya said, seeing something. "I see it too. Could be Trux in trouble." Tailwind said. "Let's take a look." Ty said. "Oh, I can't look." Click-Clack said with worry as he ducked his head inside. As the Trux drove up to see what it was, they saw a pack of Desert Scraptors lying by some rocks and boulders. They were screeching, but they weren't moving. "Scraptors." Ty said. "Dude, what happened to them?" Ton-Ton asked. Revvit leapt down from Ty's head and inspected the Scraptors. "It would appear that their engines are jammed up." He said. "How? Gearwigs?" Waldo asked. "No. It's some kind of toxic corrosion. But I don't know what caused it." Revvit said. "C-C-C-Can we please go before it happens to us?" Click-Clack asked in fear. "Absolutely. Let's go." Ty said as Revvit hopped back on. As the Trux and Tools drove off, the thing that attacked the Scraptors watched them from behind a rock.

Later, as the Trux and Tools returned to the garage, the Tools were putting away the bits they collected. "We sure collected a lot of bits, Revvit. What do we even need this many bits for anyway?" Waldo asked. "You never know, Waldo." Revvit said. Just then, there was a noise. "What was that?" Ace asked. The Tools looked around the garage, but couldn't see anything. "Who's in here?" Dil called. "I don't see anything." Spinz said. Suddenly, something sped past them from behind, startling them. "What was that?!" Click-Clack cried. "I don't know. I didn't see it." Xee said. "I'm starting to think we might've been followed." Revvit said.

Meanwhile, Dozer was dozing up ore to store in his mound. "Well, that should be enough to store inside my mound." He said. Suddenly, something spied on him from behind some rocks. As he started gathering up the ore, something bit him on his treads. "OUCH!" He screamed. "Who bit me?! Who's out here?!" He exclaimed. He looked around, but nobody was around. Suddenly, his engine started jamming up. "Hey! What's going on?!" He exclaimed as he tried to move, but couldn't. "I- I can't move! I'm jammed up! HELP!" He cried. The Trux and Tools heard his cry and hurried over. "Dozer, what happened?" Ty asked. "I don't know! One minute, I was gathering ore, and then the next thing, something bit me and my engine started jamming up!" Dozer exclaimed. Revvit leapt down and investigated Dozer's engine. "This is strange. Dozer's engine seems to be corroding somehow. It's the same as the Desert Scraptors we ran into in the desert." He explained. "Whatever bit him must've corroded his engine." Ty deduced. "Can he be cured?" Skya asked. "From the look of his engine, I believe the corrosion should be able to be repaired if we act fast." Revvit said. "Let's get him to the garage." Skya said as she hooked her hook onto Dozer and started towing him to the garage.

A while later, the Tools fixed Dozer's corrosion without any problems. "Well, that was the hardest fix we've ever had to do." Waldo groan. "There were so many corroded spots we've had to patch up." Click-Clack said. "How do you feel, Dozer?" Ty asked. "Oh, I feel relieved. I thought I was never gonna move ever again." Dozer said, feeling relieved. "Now we just need to figure out what it was that bit you." Revvit said. "Hey, dudes! Look at these tracks." Ton-Ton called. The Trux and Tools looked at the tracks he spotted. "These are some strange tracks. They don't appear to match any kind of Trux that I know of." Revvit said. "Whatever it is, we need to find it." Ty said as he took off with the others following.

The Trux and Tools followed the tracks all the way to the forest. "Well, that's it. The tracks end here in the forest." Ty said. "It must be somewhere close by." Shredda said. "I don't see anything. These trees pretty much cover up everything." Skya said. "Tailwind, you see anything up there?" Ty asked. "Nothing for miles, Ty." Tailwind said. "But where could it have gone?" Ty asked. Just then, the bushes nearby started rustling. "Shh!" Ty shushed the others as he slowly drove closer to the bushes. Suddenly, something leapt out and attempted to attack Ty. The Trux quickly drove out of the way as the unfamiliar Trux landed. It growled with warning. "So, anyone know what this thing is?" Ty asked. "Unfortunately, I do not recognize this type of Trux." Revvit said. "I do." Xee said. The Trux and Tools turned to her. "It's a Sandbersia. They possess a toxic bite that corrodes a Trux's engine, causing it to jam up." Xee explained. "So, this is the guy who jammed up my engine!" Dozer exclaimed angrily. "And I'm guessing it did the same to those Scraptors." Shredda said. "So, is there anyway we can stop this thing?" Ton-Ton asked. Xee stared at the Sandbersia as it growled at the Trux and Tools. "None that I can think of." Xee said with regret.

The Sandbersia charged towards the Trux and attempted to bite Ton-Ton. "Whoa, dude!" Ton-Ton exclaimed as he drove out of the way. "Careful! Don't let it bite you! Or you'll wound up like I did!" Dozer exclaimed. "Well, no duh, Dozer!" Skya exclaimed as the Sandbersia tried biting her. But she hooked her hook on it and tossed it into a tree. "What?!" Skya asked in shock at what she saw. The Sandbersia didn't get hurt when she threw it at the tree. Instead, it hooked its tread claws into the tree, saving itself. "What just happened?" Shredda asked. "Sandbersias have claws on their treads. It allows them to climb trees." Xee explained. "Now you tell us?!" Dozer exclaimed. Suddenly, he was nearly bitten by the Sandbersia. "Not gonna bite me again, buddy!" Dozer exclaimed, dozing into the Sandbersia and tossing it towards the others. Ty smacked it with his wrecking ball, knocking it down. The Sandbersia recovered, growled at the Trux and took off into the forest.

"Wow. That thing was super scary. Good thing it's gone." Ton-Ton said in relief. "It's not gone. Sandbersias never give up. They'll keep coming until your engines are all corroded and jammed." Xee said. "Then let's just follow it and doze it enough for it to learn to give up!" Dozer exclaimed. "Hold on, Dozer. This Sandbersia is one of the most dangerous Trux we've ever faced. We need a plan to catch this thing before any other Trux get their engines jammed." Ty said. "And how exactly are we going to catch this thing?" Waldo asked. Revvit spun his bits as he started thinking. "What about that cage we tried to catch Pounder with?" Ty asked. "Exactly what I was thinking." Revvit said. "We can rebuild that cage and hide it somewhere…" Ty started. "And use a Scaretrux as bait…" Revvit continued. "To lure the Sandbersia…" Ty continued. "Into our trap." Revvit finished. "Boom!" Ty cheered. "I don't know, Ty. If we couldn't catch Pounder with that cage, how can we catch a Sandbersia?" Skya asked. "Because Sandbersias aren't as simple-minded as Pounders. It's worth a shot." Xee said. "Then let's Trux it up!" Ty called.

Later, the Trux and Tools started constructing the cage. They forged the metal bars at the lava duct and put it all together. Once they were finished, they headed out and followed the Sandbersia's tracks out to the Flat Irons. "It must be resting out here somewhere." Ty said. "You're right. Sandbersias prefer certain breezy areas to sleep." Xee explained. "So, we'll want to set our trap right around here." Revvit said. The Trux set up the cage and placed the Scaretrux right in the center of it. "Perfect. Once the Sandbersia wakes up and sees the Scaretrux, it'll think its me and once it's inside, the cage will trigger and trap it." Ty explained. The Trux and Tools hid in some bushes and waited for the Sandbersia to show up. As they waited, the time started to fly by. After a few hours, the Trux started to get bored and irritated. "Ugh! I'm so bored. Where is this thing already?" Ton-Ton asked in irritation. "Ton-Ton, we must exercise patience. These things can take a while to set into motion." Revvit said. "My time and patience just left about an hour ago." Skya said. "Yeah. I think me and Skya are just gonna head back home." Dozer said. "No, guys. Once we catch this thing, it'll take all of us to carry it out of the crater." Ty said.

Suddenly, there was a growl nearby. "Get down!" Ty whispered. The Trux and Tools ducked down as they prepared for the Sandbersia's arrival. "Steady." Ty whispered as the growl got louder. Just then, Dozer started getting a feeling as the growl got louder. "Uh, anyone else thing that those growls are coming from…right…behind…us?" He asked with worry. The Trux and Tools slowly turned around and saw the Sandbersia glaring and growling at them. "Move, move, move!" Ty exclaimed. The Trux and Tools scattered as the Sandbersia started to attack. "Lead it towards the cage!" Revvit exclaimed. The Trux tried to lead the Sandbersia towards the cage while dodging its bites. But then, as Garby tried to strike it with his tail, it bit him! "Argh! I'm bitten!" He cried, feeling his engine jam up. "It got Garby!" Shredda cried. "We're coming, Garby!" Skya called. But as they drove towards Garby, the Sandbersia moved too quickly and bit them too. "Ugh! My engine! It's jamming!" Skya exclaimed as she jammed up. "Mine too!" Shredda cried as she jammed up too. "We're losing Trux fast, dude!" Ton-Ton called. "We gotta keep at it! Lure it to the cage!" Ty exclaimed.

"Hey! Over here!" Dozer exclaimed, getting the Sandbersia's attention. He slowly backed up towards the cage with the Sandbersia following him. "That's it, Dozer. Just a little closer." Ty said. But then, the Sandbersia surprised him and bit his tread. "Argh! Not again!" Dozer exclaimed as his engine jammed up again. "Dozer!" Ty cried as he and Ton-Ton drove in. The Sandbersia roared at them as it charged towards them. As the 2 Trux fended it off, Tailwind flew overhead. "Tailwind, do you think you can get your cables down here?" Revvit asked. "I'll give it a shot." Tailwind called. He prepared his cables and lowered them down to the fight. But as he got them close enough, the Sandbersia quickly turned and bit the cables. "Tailwind!" Ty cried. "Ugh! I can feel the toxin! It's coursing through my cables!" Tailwind exclaimed as he felt his engine jamming up, causing him to fall. "Mayday! Mayday! Pteracopter going down!" "I'm coming, Tail-dude!" Ton-Ton called. But as he drove to help Tailwind, the Sandbersia bit his tail. "YEOW! I'm bitten!" Ton-Ton cried, feeling his engine jam up. Luckily, Tailwind fell into his bed. "Got you, dude." Ton-Ton said. "Thanks." Tailwind said.

"Tools, get to higher ground!" Ty exclaimed. The Tools quickly hurried to higher ground as Ty was left to deal with the Sandbersia all alone. They glared at each other, daring the other to make a move. The Tools watched with worry from a nearby tree. The Sandbersia lunged for Ty, ready to bite him. "TY!" Revvit cried. "Not this time." Ty said. He swung his wrecking ball and struck the Sandbersia hard, knocking it into the cage. As the Sandbersia hit the Scaretrux, the cage triggered and caught it. "Gotcha." Ty said. The Sandbersia snarled as it tried to bite open the cage. "Ty, we need to get the others back to the garage quickly." Revvit said. "We already sent Spinz to get help from some Craneosaurs." Waldo said. "B-B-B-But what about the Sandbersia?" Click-Clack asked. Ty looked back at the Sandbersia, who was still trying to bite through the cage. "Leave it. It can't bite through that iron cage." Ty said.

Later, after getting the jammed Trux back to the garage, the Tools fixed up their jammed engines. "And we're all set. Your engines are all fixed and un-jammed." Revvit said. "Ugh! What a relief." Skya said. "Was that what it felt like for you the first time, Dozer?" Shredda asked. "Uh huh. It was even worse the second time." Dozer said. "Well, let's hope we've seen the last of that dude." Ton-Ton said. "I don't know, guys. That's what we always thought from the first time we faced our enemies." Ty said. "Yes. And look at them now." Revvit said. The Trux and Tools mumbled in agreement. "But even if the Sandbersia does manage to break free from our cage, we'll be ready for it." Ty said. The Trux and Tools nodded in agreement.

Later that night, the Sandbersia actually managed to bite through the bars and escape the cage. It roared into the night sky, swearing vengeance before driving off. Unknown to it, the Bad Trux watched it from the forest. "Well, well, well, it appears that there are still other Trux making enemies with Ty and his friends." D-Stroy said. "Which means the more enemies Ty makes, the more allies we get." Blayde said. "Yes, indeed." D-Stroy said. The Bad Trux chuckled as they watched the Sandbersia drive away.
