Chapter 3:
The Doctor: Sure seems like a concert in here. *Looks at the crowded main room*
Yang: Hey, the more you meet them the better of hosting a giant party! *winks*
The Doctor would his head in pain after receiving another flash but this time people screaming and hiding in a crowded room. He is back to reality when he gets tapped on the shoulder by Yang.
Yang: You sure you're okay William? We can find the nurse room nearby.
The Doctor: I'm fine but thank you for the concern.
Yang knew something was up with this guy to be having constant headaches. That thought left when she spotted her little sister not that far with a tall, blonde boy.
Yang: Ruby! Over here! I saved you a spot! *waves*
Ruby: Oh! *Looks at Jaune* Hey, I-I gotta go! I'll see you after the ceremony! *leaves*
Jaune: Hey, wait! *sighs* Ah, great. Where am I supposed to find another nice, quirky girl to talk to?!
Yang: *Looks at Ruby with her arms crossed* How's your first day going, little sister?
Ruby: You mean since you ditched me and I exploded?
Yang: Yikes! Meltdown already?
Ruby: No, I literally exploded a hole in front of the school! And there was some fire, and I think some ice...?
Yang: Are you being sarcastic?
Ruby: I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, and then she yelled at me, and then I sneezed, and then I exploded, and then she yelled at me again, and I felt really, really bad, and I just wanted her to stop yelling at me!
Weiss: *appears behind Ruby* You!
Ruby: *jumps into her sister's arms* Oh, God, it's happening again!
Weiss: You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!
Yang: Oh my God, you really exploded.
Ruby: It was an accident. It was an accident! *Looks at the pamphlet titled "DUST for dummies and other Inadequate Individuals"* What's this?
Weiss: The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory, the Schnee Family highly encourages their customers to read and familiarize themselves with this easy-to-follow guide to Dust applications and practices in the field.
Ruby: Uuhhh...?
The Doctor: I'm not sure your sister was the one who exploded Yang. If anything, it was more of an ego explosion.
Weiss: YOU!
Ruby: Oh, it's You.
The Doctor: Hello.
Weiss: You got some nerves showing up to my face Mr. Smith! I wish I had a pamphlet for misbehaving dummies!
The Doctor: So, yourself then. *smiles*
Weiss was on the verge of blowing up, this man had once again out beat her with insults and she wishes she could freeze him here and now. She decides to ignore him and bring her focus back on Ruby.
Weiss: You really wanna start making things up to me?
Ruby: Absolutely?
The Doctor: It's a trap!
Weiss: SHUT UP! *Gives the pamphlet to Ruby* Read this, and don't ever speak to me again.
The Doctor: Sounds like a win for all of us except for Ice Queen since I haven't seen her interact anyone BUT us.
Weiss: Why don't you shut your yappy voice and go back where you are from?
Yang: Look, uh, it sounds like you three just got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you start over and try to be friends, okay?
Ruby: Yeah! Great idea, sis! AHEM. Hello, Weiss! I'm Ruby! Wanna hang out? We can go shopping for school supplies!
Weiss: Yeah! And we can paint our nails and try on clothes and talk about cute boys, like tall, blond, and scraggly over there!
Jaune: Hm?
Ruby: Wow, really?!
Weiss: *glares* No.
The Doctor felt the tension from Weiss and it did bring a bit of fun for him to mess with her but to also let her realize she's on the wrong end of the trail. He just wanted to go to class ready since first class is astronomy. However, he noticed a white-haired adult male approaching the students and he could feel a strange magic on the man.
Ozpin: I'll... keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step.
Glynda: You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed.
As everyone begins to leave, The Doctor remained looking at Ozpin in which he returned the look as they both felt something different yet familiar until Ozpin broke the eye lock and left.
The Doctor: Something feels off about that man.
Yang: He seemed kind of... off.
Ruby: It's almost like he wasn't even there.
The Doctor: More like he wasn't there physically.
The first night at Beacon has arrived, students are knocked out in sleeping bags or relaxing while chatting with others. Ruby, in her pajamas and with a sleeping mask around her head, is writing in a journal when Yang crashes next to her.
Yang: It's like a big slumber party!
Ruby: I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though.
Yang: I know I do! *purrs*
Yang watches with such ogley eyes on several muscular, shirtless guys before Jaune appears dressed in feetie pajamas and waving to her which makes her groan then questioning how William wasn't in any pajamas at all before she returns her attention to Ruby
Yang: What's that?
Ruby: A letter to the gang back at Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going.
Yang: Aw, that's so cuuuute!
Ruby: Shut up! I didn't get to take my friends with me to school! It's weird not knowing anyone here!
Yang: What about Jaune? He's... nice! There you go! Plus one friend! That's a hundred percent increase!
Ruby: (turning on her back) Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend. Back to zero...
Yang: There's no such things as negative friends! You just made one friend and one enemy! Then there's William Smith.
The sisters look over at the boy who's already reading a book about space while having multiple notebooks around him.
Ruby: He's not a bad person but I also don't know him too well.
Yang: Look, it's only been one day. Trust me; you've got friends all around you! You just haven't met them yet!
Their conversation came to a halt when they noticed a candle light up and noticed a black-haired girl with a bow on her head reading a book.
Ruby: That girl...
Yang: You know her?
Ruby: Not really. She saw what happened this morning, but left before I could say anything.
Yang: Well, now's your chance! *Grabs Ruby's arm*
Ruby: Wait! What are you doing?!
Blake looks over her book to see Ruby unsuccessfully struggling against Yang's grip as she leads her sister over to Blake's spot before letting go.
Yang: Hel-looooo! I believe you two may know each other?
Blake: Aren't you... that girl that exploded?
Ruby: Uh, yeah! My name's Ruby! But you can just call me Crater... *smiles embarrassed* Actually, you can just call me Ruby.
Blake: Okay. *Continues reading*
Yang: *whispers to Ruby* What are you doing?
Ruby: *whispering back* I don't know - help me!
Yang: So... What's your name?
Blake: *sighs* Blake.
Yang: Well, Blake, I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister! I like your bow!
Blake: *irritated* Thanks!
Yang: It goes great with your... pajamas!
Blake: Right...
Yang: Nice night, don't you think?
Blake: Yes - it's lovely! Almost as lovely as this book! That I will continue to read as soon as you leave!
Yang: *to Ruby* Yeah, this girl's a lost cause.
Ruby: What's it about Blake?
Blake: Huh?
Ruby: Your book. Does it have a name?
Blake: Well...it's about a man with two hearts traveling through space and exploring new worlds.
Not known by the three girls chatting, the young time lord heard and looked at his notes and books. His mind still foggy but could he be like the man in the story?
Ruby: I love books. Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... They're one of the reasons I want to be a Huntress!
Blake: *giggles* And why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?
Ruby: Well, I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!
Blake: That's... very ambitious for a child. *frowns* Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale.
Ruby: Well, that's why we're here! To make it better.
Yang: Oh, I am so proud of my baby sister! *Hugs Ruby tight*
Ruby: GAH! Cut it out!
Blake smiles at Ruby and was going to ask if she wanted to read it as well until she realized her book was gone like a snap of a finger.
Blake: What the- Where's my book?
The Doctor: So much this story offers yet so little about Space itself. And when will they bring up Time? That should be an important factor to make this story even better!
Blake: Hey! Give me back my book!
The Doctor: Wait! I've already read this one, the ending is sad since the traveler loses his memories of all his adventures and dies after both hearts fail him from a gave wound.
Blake: Noooooooooo! *Falls on the ground* Spoiler...
As if the ruckus couldn't get any worse, it just did.
Weiss: What in the world is going on over here?! Don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep?
Weiss and Yang: *looks at each other* Oh, not you again!
Ruby: Shh! Guys, she's right! People are trying to sleep!
Weiss: Oh, now you're on my side!
Ruby: I was always on your side!
Yang: Yeah, what's your problem with my sister? She's only trying to be nice!
Weiss: She's a hazard to my health!
It was going to be a very long night for everyone in Beacon. Hours have passed and it was completely lights out for everyone whether sleeping peacefully or snoring. All but one, The Doctor who was outside looking at the stars and embracing the universe. Whatever his life was before losing his memories, he felt the connection that he loved anything involving space and time. He kept enjoying the view and deep thinking until he heard footsteps behind him but decides not to look.
The Doctor: Let me guess, you are here to scold me for sneaking out of school property at night Ms. Schnee?
Weiss: *sighs* I would...but I can't sleep so I'll let it slide. Mind if I join you?
The Doctor: No bother at all.
Weiss proceeded to sit next to the young time lord and enjoy the stars with him. The look on his face said it all, this was something he truly loves.
Weiss: William, right?
The Doctor: *chuckles* Yes, that's the name I was given by Ironwood and Winter.
Weiss: Given? And you know my sister?
The Doctor: Yes, she rescued me after I fell unconscious in a lake. The name was given since I do not actually remember anything nor who I truly am.
Weiss: Wow...I'm really sorry to hear that. Now I feel more like a jerk for treating you badly.
The Doctor: No need. They will come back to me eventually. There's always a second chance for us to start over.
Weiss looks at the young man's brown eyes. She doesn't know him at all yet something about him attracts her like a magnet. She smiles at him and takes out her hand.
Weiss: Weiss Schnee, pleasure to meet you.
The Doctor: William Smith, pleasure is all mine. *Smiles and shakes her hand*
For a bit of time, the two would continue to watch the stars and chat a little more until Weiss eventually falls asleep next to The Doctor. Something about her beauty kept catching the eyes of the young time lord and it made him realize she is exactly what he loves looking at: Stars. If he ever gets his memory back, he is certain he's gonna fight to keep these happy feelings.
