Chapter 4:
Days have already passed by and a lot has happened for The Doctor while still trying to recover his memories. There are times he gets more knowledge about space and time with the addition of dimensions but whenever a glimpse of his memory hits, it strikes him with a painful headache as all he could see is fire and ashes everywhere. And because of that headache, he was unable to join the temple forest challenge that Professor Ozpin placed out so he will instead watch it with the Professor. But before they do, the time lord had to make a quick visit to a special friend. One that has been forming a close bond with him these couple of days.
The Doctor: Drew an outline of the forest and these are the clearer paths to the chess piece but it doesn't mean there won't be any Grimms around so try not to freeze yourself in the process.
Weiss: *giggles* Please, obviously you already underestimating me, William.
The Doctor: Just a heads up. Don't come back to me if you're half frozen.
Weiss giggles before accidentally getting bumped from behind causing her to fall into the Doctor's arms, resulting in the both of them blushing before separating away. She and The Doctor have begun to connect very well mostly because of their passion for anything space related. While Weiss still hates jokes, she doesn't mind a few teases by the young man as long as she can tease him back. They walk together heading to the forest while discussing their love for astronomy.
The Doctor: The universe is big, vast, complicated, and ridiculous. And sometimes, impossible things happens and we just call them miracles.
Weiss: What if it's a bad thing? Then again, we can never know because the universe is pretty much everywhere around us and we are like ants.
The Doctor: This is one corner of one country, within a continent, within a planet that's a corner of the galaxy-
Weiss: Which is the corner of the universe?
The Doctor: Bingo! A universe where everyday in our lifetime, it is forever growing and shrinking, creating and destroying, and never remaining the same for even one millisecond. And there is so much more to see.
Weiss: *giggles* Do you have your pills with you in case another migraine hits?
The Doctor: Are you my caretaker now? *chuckles*
Weiss: No, I'm your Carer cause I care for you. Besides, we got some fun plans to explore some stars later tonight.
The Doctor: Looking forward to that. Well then Weiss, Good luck. *Takes out fist*
Weiss smiles back softly as she fists bumps him back and leaves for the forest quests as The Doctor heads up to meet with Ozpin. While the two are questioning their inner thoughts about each other, it's no question their friendship is already strong. As the quest begins, he notices Weiss taking one of the difficult routes which brings a chuckle to The Doctor.
The Doctor: Always looking for a challenge.
Ozpin: All these huntsmen and huntswomen love a good challenge and here it'll help them improve physically and mentally. It's no question there are Grimms around so they must be prepared. I did notice you have no weapon at all with you Mr. Smith.
The Doctor: Well, besides being excluded due to my headache, the only weapon I need now is this. *Points to my brain* Sometimes the most powerful weapon can be not by a gun, sword, or even magic but from the mind.
Ozpin: You are correct William but sometimes you would also need to carry one with you since the mind can't defend you all the time nor help you much in battle. James has told me about you, the young man with two hearts and no memories.
The Doctor: We all start somewhere eventually.
Ozpin: I'm just amazed how you are able to live with two hearts. As far as I know, only Ironwood, Winter, Glinda, and I know about this.
The Doctor: Right you are unfortunately with no memory of who I truly am but I question it every day.
Ozpin: And that is what I mean that not all the times the mind is the proper weapon to use. Sometimes the answer you look for does not come from yourself but out there, everywhere.
The Doctor kept that thought in mind and it stayed with him for the rest of the quest combat. Hours have passed and the quest was finally complete. The Doctor waits for Weiss to return to the entrance only to see her with Ruby, Blake, and Yang which brings a smile to him.
The Doctor: Well, you are obviously one of the more determined ones out there, taking the challenging routes, AND making new friends. *smiles* Quite the development of this ice queen.
Weiss: William! *Fixes myself* You could say more than teammates but not friends just yet.
The Doctor: Mmm, I'm pretty sure it's not like that. I saw you smiling and laughing with them. Good to know you're opening yourself more. Always try to be nice but never fail to be kind, remember that.
Weiss gives The Doctor a heartwarming smile keeping that advice in her heart while her teammates smirk at the sight they are seeing of Weiss trying to impress the young time lord.
Blake: Is it my imagination or...
Ruby: Nope.
Yang: Ice Queen is in love with the Space Boy.
The trio laugh until they hear a collapse followed by Weiss shouting The Doctor's name until they see him on the floor holding his head. Another flash has hit his brain but this time it was longer, he saw himself running to a ship with a robot behind him before it disappears.
Weiss: Pills! Where are your pills William?
The Doctor: Jacket...
Weiss pulls them out and hands them to The Doctor as he drinks them and tries to breathe normally once again.
Ruby: What happened?
Yang: He's been getting these kind of headache attacks every day and those pills are to calm him down.
Weiss: It's a trigger when he gets a memory from before he lost them. Did you see anything?
The Doctor: I couldn't tell...but I was running.
Blake: Running as in exercise or...
The Doctor: No, like I was running away from something.
The four girls looked at each other concerned as they help out the Doctor back into the school and taking him into the nurse's office where he remained there for the rest of the afternoon recovering slowly. None of them wanted to leave but they were called by one of their professors to return to the auditorium along with the whole school to announce the upcoming huntsmen and huntswomen teams.
Ozpin: Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR. Led by... Jaune Arc!
Jaune: Huh? L-Led by...?
Ozpin: Congratulations, young man.
Nora hugged Ren while a grinning Pyrrha offers a friendly shoulder bump to Jaune, but the team's leader is knocked over and falls to his butt in front of the laughing audience.
Ozpin: And finally: Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long. *Stands in front of them* The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!
Weiss and Blake looked to her surprised, where Ruby is obviously in shock as Yang goes over to hug her sister.
Yang: I'm so proud of you!
Weiss: Unbelievable...
Blake: Team RWBY? Sounds pretty catchy to me.
For Weiss, this was loss in her eyes. She supposed to be the leader of this team and not that dolt. She did everything to prove herself worthy and perfect but somehow someone like Ruby got picked as the leader not to mention Weiss is now stuck with Yang and Blake as well. With no one noticing, Weiss marches off the auditorium fueled with anger, jealousy, and failure not realizing the young time lord was indeed watching her and decides to meet up with her.
The Doctor: Seems like someone isn't too happy about the team she's in.
Weiss: *grunts* It's not fair! That dolt has no credentials to be a leader, she doesn't even look like one! I've been training for a long time by one of the very best, only to get placed in a team with a little girl as the captain!
The Doctor: You must not judge people by their cover, gotta open up with them and see who they truly are. It'll take some time but if Ozpin picked her to be leader, then he saw something that we will all see eventually from Ruby. Got to remember Weiss, you must be kind.
Weiss: There's no kindness coming from me since I'm pretty angry by this. I'm sorry William, I'm gonna cancel our plans for later tonight. I really need to let off some steam and perhaps have a reasonable conversation with the Professors of not having me as the team leader. *Walks away*
The Doctor: Not surprised. *sighs*
However, before heading towards the other way, he noticed something that looked like a vine peaking from Weiss neck. Made him wonder if it a tattoo or simply a hallucination from his headache? If only he knew that it wasn't neither of them and dark days are approaching very soon.
