Chapter 8:
And so, his body began to glow and release yellow energy as a small explosion which brought concern to Team RBY and Nightmare Weiss. Back in the real world as well, the Doctor body sent out a massive energy wave as Jaune and Shion try to heal him.
Nightmare Weiss: Whatever game you're playing, it won't work on me!
With no time wasted, Weiss goes for another crucial strike killing the Time Lord in the dream world but causing a seizure in the real world.
Shion: CALL THE MEDICS!
Jaune: Don't die on us like this William!
A mission to save a friend and teammate gone worse with another friend on the verge of death. Team RBY not long escaped the dream world to help their friend and it wasn't long until the paramedics came to give CPR but every time they used the Defibrillator, more flashes of his life occurred. Suddenly, that last shock he felt in his body sent his consciousness to pitch black.
*HOSPITAL*
Doctor: Considering the condition he has, it was more complicated to conduct CPR but thankfully they were able to give him pulse once again.
Team RBY alongside Ozpin watched William lay in bed with no sign of waking up soon. Seeing him breathe gave them relief but they were left petrified thinking they lost him, and it was Weiss of all people who almost killed him.
Ozpin: Even though he is breathing, are there any signs that he will wake up soon?
Doctor: *sighs* Considering he wouldn't wake up for 3 days after he was found in the lake, this seems a much more serious incident...it really depends how he will respond and when, so I really don't know when he will wake up. If anything, he sure has some kind of misfortune on his side: Born with two hearts, suffers a bad hit to the head, loses memory, and now-
Ruby: Wait! What was that first one?
Doctor: Ah! When we did a checkup on him, we discovered he has two hearts inside of him. It's very strange yet a miracle he can live with that. *Hands them X ray scans*
Blake: No way...No! Way!
Yang: He has TWO HEARTS!
Doctor: Yes, 99% of humans would die if born with two hearts but somehow that boy is the 1% that proves otherwise. I'll need to type in more information so I will be back. *leaves*
Ruby: First Weiss...now William...This is all my fault.
Yang: Don't ever say that Ruby! It is not your fault and nowhere near it.
Ozpin: Your sister is right Ms. Rose. Weiss unfortunately fell victim to the Nightmare Grimm and William was in no condition to join you guys and it got worse.
Ruby: But it is...Weiss was mad that I was the leader of Team RWBY and she found me as your mistake of choosing the leader. Is she right?
Ozpin: *sighs* I mean, it's only been two weeks. Ruby... I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, and child on this planet. But at this moment, I would not consider your appointment to leader to be one of them. Do you?
Ruby took Ozpin words to her mind and thought about it very well. It is only two weeks since they started. She still has a chance to prove herself and save Weiss.
Ruby: Yang! Blake! Tomorrow we are heading back to Weiss's mind and do everything we can to save her!
Yang: That's more like it sis!
Blake: For Weiss...and For William.
Ruby and Yang: For Weiss and William.
(Hours Later)
The Doctor: *Gasp and sits up* WEISS!
All the Time Lord saw was a dark room with a very quiet ambiance. He looked around to see he was once back at the hospital and the same room when he lost his memories before remembering what occurred earlier: Weiss's World, The Nightmare Grimm, The Trap, and the Near Death. But what he was questioning most is what occurred to him, his hands and everything glowing. Those thoughts were interrupted when he heard a blast come from outside shaking the room completely.
The Doctor: What was that?!
The Doctor jumps off the bed and runs out of the room looking for any windows but there was none which confused him before another blast rocketed the building sending him to the ground. Now he knew something was wrong, he looked around himself to see no signs of vines from the Nightmare Grimm, so he was not infected.
The Doctor: No windows, no phones, this is definitely a dream...more like a nightmare.
The Doctor finally finds an exit and rushes outside only to see horror around him. Buildings on fire, smoke covering the sky, ashes falling around, screams from men, women, and children heard around, and corpses. He felt like he was reliving the same nightmare when he would get memories back. His thoughts were interrupted when he sees a man running to him before shot to death falling in front of the time lord. He looks up slowly to see the same machines in his mind, the one he was running from. It was coming to him now; he knew what they were.
The Doctor: DALEKS!
Daleks: LIFE FORM DETECTED! EXTERMINATE!
The Group of Daleks began shooting at the Doctor as he tries to escape. There were Daleks everywhere, no matter where he went so his best option would be to hide.
The Doctor: *gasp* Team RWBY and the others! I need to find...
The Doctor needed to say no more with a horror look at what he sees across the rubbles and fire: Ruby's cape, Weiss Myrtenaster, Blake's Gambol Shroud, and Yang's Arm Cannon.
The Doctor: No...No! No! NOOOOOOOOOO! WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE THIS?! Wake Up! Wake Up! This isn't REAL!
Dalek: THE HUMAN IS AROUND! SEEK! LOCATE! AND EXTERMINATE!
The Doctor: That's it...If I get exterminated by them, it'll cause me to wake up... or die.
The Time Lord was in a dark place not knowing what to do, he could be on life support and if he is caught, he will die. He needed to do something fast; That is until he heard crying nearby. A child hugging his parents' corpses and noticed Daleks were beginning to approach him. Change of Plans was now his idea, he needed to save that child and take him to a safe spot away from the Daleks. He looked around for anything that could stop the Daleks and it hit him: He saw oil leaking around the floor and a sparking electric wire hanging loose.
Daleks: HALT! TIME LORD DETECTED! EXTERMINATE ALL TIME LORDS!
Child: *cries more* Mommy...Daddy...
Daleks: AIM! EXTER-
The Doctor: HEY TIN CANS!
The Daleks looked up at him but now with a different reaction as he was hanging near the loose cable.
Daleks: IT IS THE DOCTOR! EXTERMINATE THE DOCTOR!
The Doctor: I don't know who the Doctor is but Exterminate this! *Cuts another cable letting the wires drop*
The Daleks looked at the sparks from the wire clashing with the oil causing a massive explosion destroying all of them in sight. The Doctor runs to the kid who wouldn't let go of his parents.
The Doctor: Come with me! I'll take you to a safe spot. I know that is what your parents would want, for you to be safe. Saving someone can make a huge difference.
The boy looked at the young man and grabbed his hand as The Doctor picked him up and ran as fast as he could to any area that looked safe and well hidden. He found a small shack as he ran inside, locking and securing the doors and windows completely. He saw more Daleks pass by but were not able to see him and the child giving the Doctor a sigh of relief.
The Doctor: You're safe right now kid. But we need to find an alternative way to leave this place and find a proper, hidden shelter.
But as the Time Lord turns around to look at the kid, he noticed something was off. The Kid was no longer crying but instead was giving him a blank stare, similar to Weiss when he fell for the trap.
The Doctor: No...Not again!...
Old Man: Do not worry. He is not a trap but is what you have been trying to look for.
The Doctor: Who's there? Show yourself!
He noticed a shadow appearing behind the child and while he still couldn't see his face, he noticed the clothes. Worn out and raggedy just like the old man he was seeing during Beacon.
The Doctor: It's you...The old man I've been seeing in my head.
Old Man: You know how I look yet still can't remember who I am.
The Doctor: I feel like I should, but my memories can't seem to connect.
Old Man: Perhaps the child can help you but first, why did you save him almost risking yourself.
The Doctor: I wasn't going to let him die! He needed to be saved and protected from the Daleks. They were going to kill him and if I died, I'd made sure he would escape.
Old Man: Look at the child again my boy.
The Doctor was confused at what the Old Man was trying to play at, but he turns around not to see the child anymore but himself. He was seeing himself causing him to have a mental freak out.
The Doctor: W-What is this...W-Why is there another me?!
Old Man: He is you. Before you lost your memories. All this was your mind being clouded and the Child is your memory of who you truly are William...or should I say Doctor.
The clone of the Doctor approaches him as he begins to glow the same color when he was struck by Weiss as everything begins to flash before his eyes, he starts to remember everything.
Old Man: What do you see now?
The Doctor: Gallifrey...my home. The Daleks. The Time War! YOU! *Eyes widen* You're him!
The Old Man appeared in front of him as everything around them turned white with nothing around. No chaos. No Daleks. Nothing. Just him and the Old Man or as he remembers him: the War Doctor.
The Doctor: You're the Doctor...who saved me from death.
War Doctor: I do not go by that name anymore. Especially after what occurred on Gallifrey. What else do you remember?
The Doctor: I was trapped under rubble after finding my parents dead at the hands of the Daleks. They approached me ready to finish me off but then...You came. You destroyed them and pulled me from the rubble.
War Doctor: And you said the same thing to me when you remembered. I am no longer the Doctor; I am simply now a part of you.
The Doctor: Yes! I remember you told me...The Doctor is Dead...
War Doctor: And yet, you call yourself The Doctor.
The Doctor: Not to be you but...to hold the name and carry it as a legacy. I saw what you did in the Time War, and I know you are not proud of it, but you saved as many people as you can. That's why I wanted to continue the legacy of the Doctor because I want to be the one to save people now like you!
The War Doctor smiles at the young Time Lord as he approaches him.
War Doctor: Then promise me that you will stick to that. Save as many people as you can. This new world needs the Doctor just like how I was in our universe.
The Doctor turns around to see Team RWBY smiling at him reaching their hands out to them.
War Doctor: They need you now. Save your friends and bring them back. Promise me that in this new universe, you will be the one to save people and give hope.
The Doctor: In the Name of the Doctor.
And just like that, the War Doctor was gone as the Doctor began to walk to his friends as he begins to gain more of his memory. Escaping the Time War, Dalek Khan, the Dalek he saved and befriended to be his companion. The TARDIS, exploring other Planets, how he got here, and how he lost his memories. It all came back to him as a white flash shine everywhere and now he begins to regain consciousness. He has officially woken up and noticed it was broad daylight.
The Doctor: *looks around then my hands* It's all come back to me now. I remember. *Eyes widen* Team RWBY! Weiss!
Just as the nurse was about to enter the room, the Doctor runs out avoiding the calls by the nurses and other doctors there with a few chasing him. He runs outside to look for any fast transportation he can hijack and notices an empty motorcycle. Pulling out his Sonic Screwdriver after finding it in his old clothes, he activates the motorcycle and speeds off.
The Doctor: Alright you Grimm, you have just unleashed the Oncoming storm, so you better be ready.
Before arriving to Beacon Academy, the Doctor notices a clothing shop and notices he's still in a hospital gown. He needed a quick change for better clothes.
The Doctor: Guess it's time to put on a show.
