Chapter 9:
Another day and another important attempt to save Weiss as Time was not on Team RBY's side. The vines were almost complete around her and if they don't get her out of this soon, she will die. Jaune has also joined in with them for special help as their friends and professors now await to see if she can be saved. Unbeknownst to them, Blake has absorbed herself with the Nightmare Grimm and has become Nightmare Blake.
Shion: The more time has passed, the more the vines are draining her completely. They need to finish this now!
Ren: Can't we reach out to them and see what's happening?
Pyrrha: I think the comms are down right now which doesn't help. But I do have faith in Jaune and Team RBY to finish the job and bring back Weiss.
Shion: We are also going to need a doctor to come check up with Weiss. Her aura will be very low, so she won't be feeling well.
The Doctor: I'm a Doctor.
Everyone looks at the door to see the Doctor in absolute shock. He suffered a major strike that nearly killed him yet he's here looking like it never happened. They also noticed his new look with a Wine Red buttoned shirt, black vest, leather jacket, black dress pants, and black dress shoes.
The Doctor: But probably not the one you expected.
Ozpin: Mr. Smith.
Pyrrha: Slow down William, you're in no condition to get in there after what happened.
The Doctor: *smiles* That's not my name. It's all come back to me now and now my priority is to go back in there and save them.
Ozpin: So you finally remember who you are.
The Doctor: Indeed I do. But there isn't much time to talk about it. Weiss is in trouble and for what I know, *looks at Blake* She's not the only one in trouble.
Ren: So then what's the plan?
The Doctor: *Pulls out Sonic Screwdriver and jams Shion's suitcase* We won't be needing that!
Shion: BASTARD! What the hell do you think you're doing?!
The Doctor: Killing it won't stop more of those from coming. I'm going to put the creature in its place and make sure to never come back with their little friends.
Shion: You think they'll listen to you?! They have no sense of emotions. Just pure negative energy!
The Doctor: We'll see about that! Now that I remember who I am, I know how to be careful, I know how to help them beat it. It's who I am and who I plan to be. To carry his name, to hold me to the mark, and to remind me!
Pyrrha: Remind you what?
Shion: And who the hell do you think you are?
The Doctor: I'm the Doctor. I'm a 503 year old Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous! I'm gonna be the one to save all our friends in there and end the Nightmare Grimms. And if any of you or anyone else has a problem with that, then to hell with you.
The Doctor would take off his jacket and lay down on the web giving a look to Shion to send him back, which they ultimately do despite not agreeing to his actions. He wakes up in the same spot he woke up the first time he was in Weiss's mind and wastes no time running to the castle but noticed the sky cracking and instead of the quiet city he saw earlier, it's a war zone between the robotic guards and monstrous Faunus.
The Doctor: Oh no... *Looks up* What have you done Blake?
He looks up towards the top of a building seeing Nightmare Weiss take on a Nightmare version of Blake. Another Nightmare Grimm was created from Blake meaning there are now two of them. And it doesn't stop there, he sees Yang taking on a giant robotic statue while Jaune defends a dream version of Pyrrha and little versions of Weiss from a knight.
The Doctor: Ruby. Where could she be?
She was the only one not seen around which means she's in the castle where the Nightmare Grimm is located but he hopes she found the real one and not the trap. To think he almost regenerated in a dream world is absurd. He needed to think of a plan fast. Meanwhile, Ruby was dealing the Nightmare Grimm preventing her from reaching Weiss which has become difficult, but she wouldn't quit.
Ruby: Gotcha! AH!
The Nightmare Grimm wraps its vines around Ruby holding her and ready to finish her off as she struggles to free herself but no luck. She failed again and this time she might not be able to save Weiss at all, she failed as a friend, teammate, and leader. She failed everyone.
The Doctor: Don't give up Ruby!
Ruby: William? *Looks around*
The Doctor: I'm communicating you to telepathically. You must not quit Ruby; it feels like you've been going at it for a long time but keep going. You must break the cycle and save Weiss.
Ruby: I don't know how...
The Doctor: Yes, you do! You don't just give up. You don't just let things happen. You make a stand! You say No! You have the guts to do what's right, even when everyone else just runs away! You can do this Ruby!
Ruby felt those words also remembering Ozpin words yesterday which filled her motivation to continue fighting. Suddenly, a loud ring is played causing the Nightmare Grimm to squeal and let go of Ruby grabbing her Crescent rose.
Ruby: What is that noise?
That noise is coming from the Sonic Screwdriver of the Doctor only affecting the Grimms alongside Blake and Weiss. Ruby wasted no time and closed her eyes taking a deep breath ready to finish this creature and save Weiss but the moment she opens her eyes again, she sees the creature back to its original form and burning. Without questioning what happened, she goes for kill finally ending the Nightmare Grimm that was near to killing Weiss. At the same time however, Nightmare Blake finishes off Weiss as she lays on the ground unconscious.
Nightmare Blake: WHITE FANG! OUR TIME IS NOW!
The city began to burn and change into Nightmare Blake's perspective. Back in the real world, her arms begin to cover in vines as Weiss's Nightmare Grimm comes out of the web but with the trap box jammed by the Doctor, Pyrrha and Ren finish it off completely.
Shion: That idiot. Would have been much easier if he didn't jam up my box.
Ren: One thing for sure, Weiss is finally free from the Nightmare Grimm.
Pyrrha: Question now is how long it'll take for them to save Blake.
Nora: Guys...
The group looked at where Nora pointed which led to Shion briefcase opening from being jammed and releasing all the caught Nightmare Grimms and lunging towards everyone. Back in the dream world, Weiss finally wakes up regaining consciousness, not knowing what happened.
Weiss: What on earth happened? And what am I wearing?
Ruby: Weiss? Is it really you? The real you?
Weiss: Ruby...Yes, it is me but what's-
Ruby: *hugs Weiss tight* WEISS! I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE BACK!
Weiss: I'm very lost right now. Where are we as well?
Yang: Hate to break up the hug but we still got some unfinished business. Blake's been controlled by a Grimm.
Ruby and Weiss: What?
Jaune: And it's getting a lot worse.
Nightmare Blake: So you're gonna hide behind your friends? Fine! You spoiled little girl! They'll go down and die well.
The Doctor: You know, I never thought that would be possible!
Everyone turned around to see the Doctor arriving onto the scene while waving his Sonic Screwdriver as he proceeds to walk to them.
The Doctor: Dying well? Who wants to die well? Surely the saying should be NOT dying well!
Ruby, Jaune, and Yang: William!
Weiss: William...
The Doctor: I am NOT William Smith but Yes, I am here: Alive and Well! *Looks at Blake* Now what in the name of sanity do you think you're doing? Your anger and hate is making the Grimm consume you a lot more. It's feasting inside of you. You fell down the well Blake but there is still time for you to wake up!
Nightmare Blake: Says the boy who cannot remember where he's from or who he is. The lost boy!
The Doctor: That's where you're wrong there. I'm back and better than ever!
Jaune: Hold on, you mean?
The Doctor: Yes Jaune, my memories are back. But that's not important! Blake, if you can hear me in there I need you to fight whatever is holding you down and climb back up.
Nightmare Blake: I am Blake and this IS my decision.
The Doctor: No you're not! YOU are just a copy of her and the Blake I know well would know about the decisions she makes. Every decision creates ripples, like a huge boulder dropped in a lake. The ripples merge and rebound off the banks in unforeseeable ways. The heavier the decision, the larger the waves, the more uncertain the consequences. Conflict, Trouble, Chaos...Death.
Nightmare Blake: Hmph! You think your usual speech would work on me? Do you recall what happened last time?
The Doctor: Yeah I do and it was worth a shot to try again...Buuut this was more of a diversion than an actual way of stopping you.
Nightmare Blake: WHAT? *Turns around*
Out of nowhere, Yang tries to punch Blake's mask while the others fight off White Fang monsters. Blake dodges the first hit but is struck a second time from the speed of Yang as a piece of the mask falls off and Blake's eye is seen, the real Blake.
Blake: Y-Yang...
Yang: Come on Blake, it's time to wake up.
The Doctor: Fight the demon inside you and break the cycle! *Blasts one of the monsters*
The Faunus began to fight her way out of her nightmare form which she begins to reach out to Yang who helps her be free from the Grimm's possession. The form of Nightmare Blake still exists as she charges towards them.
Yang: Look out! *Dodges and punches Nightmare Blake again*
The Bumblebee duo began to double team the nightmare version while Ruby, Weiss, Jaune, and the Doctor finish off the White Fang monsters. A kick from Yang has the nightmare version stumble until Blake appears from behind and stabs the Nightmare version of herself officially killing it. However, instead of decaying it transforms into the fully fledged Nightmare Grimm. Team RWBY and Jaune come all together ready to finish it once and for all until the Doctor walks in front of them.
Ruby: William, get away from the Grimm! We got this!
The Doctor: I know but I won't let you finish it. I will.
Before any of them can protest, the Doctor blasts them with his Sonic Screwdriver, officially waking up all five of them in the real world. Their peaceful awakening was nowhere peaceful as they see all the Nightmare Grimms and the grown version standing in front of everyone which was really bad.
Team NPR: JAUNE! WEISS! RBY!
Shion: HE SCREWED THIS UP!
Jaune: Uhhh who did?
Ren: William!
Ruby: He didn't let us finish the Grimm, he flashed a bright light then we woke up.
Weiss: We can't let these Grimms escape or it'll be terror around Beacon!
Ozpin: Then we finish them all together and aim for the grown one!
The creatures all growled as they were ready to attack and go to every target possible to fuel them with nightmares. Team RWBY, JNPR, Shion, and Ozpin were ready for combat and finish these creatures once and for all. But they all noticed something that they never thought was possible, the smaller Grimms have stopped and began to whimper in fear. They didn't know what exactly until they heard footsteps behind them.
The Doctor: Ah! The first time a Grimm feels fear. And they said you have no emotions at all and are only attracted to negative emotions.
As The Doctor continued to walk towards the Grimms, no one could believe the sight of the Nightmare Grimms to be cowering but the grown one let out a strong roar at the Doctor to which he did not flinch in return like everyone else did.
The Doctor: I tried, I really did. I want you to remember that. I tried to reach out and tried to understand you, but I think that you understand us perfectly.
Weiss: William-
The Doctor: And I think you just don't care. But I don't suppose it really matters now. YOU are monsters! And it seems that is the role you are determined to play, so guess what? I must play mine! The Man that Stops the Monsters!
Standing in front of the creatures with no weapon, no fear, and all confidence, the Doctor had a look that could leave anyone in terror. The grown Nightmare Grimm felt it and began to cower back shocking everyone else once again. Ren however, noticed the Doctor's semblance glowing a mix of yellow and gold but the Doctor doesn't have a semblance which confused Ren more.
The Doctor: I'm sending you back to your creator! And who knows, some of you may survive this trip. And if you do, remember this and let your creator know! YOU are not welcome here! This place, this planet is protected by ME! Cause I'm no ordinary human like them! *straightens my jacket* I am a Time Lord! I am The Doctor! *pulls out my sonic screwdriver* And I name you, the Boneless!
Using his Sonic Screwdriver, the Doctor sends out pulses of energy towards the Nightmare Grimms as they squeal in fear and disintegrate within seconds but also breaking the window of the room as everyone looks in shocked as to what they just witnessed. All of them head to where the window was as they look for any sight of the Grimms but nothing was spotted.
Yang: Did you see that?!
Jaune: They just disappeared into thin air just like that?
Nora: Can they even die like that?
Blake: The proper question is can they actually feel fear? I mean you all saw how they acted.
Ozpin: Never and yet it cowered back like it was afraid of the Doctor before he finished them off.
Everyone: William!
Everyone turns around only to see no one there anymore. The Doctor was gone in a flash as well, which led to confusion.
Jaune: Where did he go?
Nora: WAS HE A GHOST THIS WHOLE TIME?
Ruby: Guys look!
Everyone looks back outside to see the Doctor riding off on a motorcycle as they try to call him back.
Pyrrha: Where is he going?
Without thinking, Weiss jumps out of the window landing safely on the ground with the use of her glyphs and begins to create more to follow the Doctor ignoring the calls of the others. Not long after, after trying to find where he ran off too, she noticed the motorcycle he used on the ground in a nearby trail park. The Doctor ran further into the forests near the crash site where he lost his memories and there it was: The TARDIS! Being gone and away from it for almost 3 weeks did not feel right but he was glad to be back. Using the key he has with him; he opens the TARDIS to reveal its new interior design, leaving the Doctor with a big smile.
The Doctor: Oh brilliant! Look at you! *Steps inside and closes the door*
Weiss continued looking for the Doctor until she heard a strange groaning noise coming from the other side as she ran to it only to stop and see the TARDIS activating and disappearing. She can't believe what she just witnessed as it completely disappears into thin air. She was stuck with mixed emotions of amazement but at the same time sadness knowing that the Doctor was inside it and now with his memories back, he left.
Weiss: *Breathes and looks up at the sky* Fly high William...come back soon.
