Chapter 13:
Tied up, held hostage on another planet with alien life forms and a time lord was not on Weiss's daily plan yet here she was with the Doctor surrounded by the hooded cult as the head of the cult, Azure, approaches them.
Azure: Who are you to try and deal with us?
The Doctor: I'm the Doctor and this is Weiss Schnee!
Weiss: Way to blow our cover...
The Doctor: And you must be Azure, the leader of this cult I presume?
Azure would look at his fellow brothers in arms as they all removed their hoods to reveal a deformed bird head which bothered Weiss.
Weiss: What...in the...
The Doctor: Not surprising. However, you are putting an entire planet filled with people on the brink of a massive genocide and extinction! Why?
Cabriz: All living beings have a time to be alive and a time to die. Our brothers in arms learned from the all father that when a flare occurs, we must prepare to ascend from this world.
The Doctor: Seems like whoever told you that went Bonkers.
Azure: YOU WILL NOT INSULT OUR ALL FATHER!
The Doctor: And yet, you're about to make the biggest mistake ever.
Weiss: We won't let you get to that lever for the force shield. These people have done nothing wrong and are living in peace.
The Doctor: You won't take away their lives nor their peace.
Weiss: And once we're out of these ropes, we will stop you!
Azure: Why even try? This world will burn eventually. Everything dies in the end. A reality that can never be changed. Let us not waste time brothers, the ascension will begin soon. The others will keep an eye on the Doctor and his assistant!
A few members of the cult remained to hold the Doctor and Weiss hostage as the others go on with their plan for their ritual ascend, as the duo knew there wouldn't be enough time left.
Weiss: Okay, what's your genius plan now Doctor?
The Doctor: We get out of these ropes, locate where Azure and the others have gone, prevent the shield from being deactivated, and save this planet.
Weiss: Sounds like a big plan but how do we even get off these ropes? Considering there are few of them right here listening to us and few of them guarding outside. Not really the brightest?
The Doctor: Do you trust me Weiss Schnee?
Weiss stayed quiet for a moment to think if she fully does or doesn't. She just met the guy who turns out to be a time lord from another universe, jumped into his time machine to another planet which is on the verge of being destroyed and she's here now tied with him. She really didn't know, and her thoughts were beginning to bring regret as to saying yes to the Doctor when he asked her to join.
Weiss: Why...are you so motivated and positive knowing you have a 50/50 chance right here, right now.
The Doctor: Because I always remind myself of something to help me remain like this and to always figure a plan and alternatives.
Weiss: And what would that reminder be?
The Doctor: A universe where everybody lives. After all, isn't that what Doctors do?
Weiss gives a small smile in return knowing that it's going to take something a lot bigger than this to bring the Doctor down. He literally scared away a Nightmare Grimm, something no one knew was possible. He has infinite knowledge about time, space, dimensions, anything beyond an average human thinking. He's a survivor of a war that killed his entire kind and he now carries the name of the man who saved him because he wishes to continue with the original did: saving people and giving them hope. All those second thoughts and regrets disappeared instantly as Weiss had her answer ready but was cut when they heard screaming and blasting coming from outside.
Hooded Guard: Secure the entrance! Let no one enter!
Suddenly, it went silent from outside as nothing was heard which concerned the cult members and Weiss, but the Doctor had a smirk on his face knowing who it was. A sudden blast went through the door killing one of the cult members as the smoke clears off to reveal Dalek Khan.
Weiss: KHAN!
The Doctor: Told you I had a plan.
Dalek Khan: YOU WILL RELEASE THE DOCTOR AND WEISS SCHNEE OR BE EXTERMINATED!
The remaining Cult Guard did not hesitate and pulled out his own weapon as well before he was struck in a speed of light by Dalek Khan killing him.
Dalek Khan: YOU WERE WARNED!
The Doctor: Khan! Any way you can break us out of this!
Dalek Khan: THE ROPES ARE VERY TIGHT TO EACH OTHERS HAND! CHANCE OF SURVIVAL IS 8%!
Weiss: What about the pole? Can you blast it so it breaks?
Dalek Khan: YES!
Dalek Khan blasts the pole where the Doctor and Weiss were tied up and successfully breaks releasing them both and now trying to untie their hands.
Weiss: Okay what's next!
The Doctor: We need to find Azure bef-
A sudden alarm began to be heard and people began to scream and run into a massive panic.
The Doctor: Oh no.
Dalek Khan: FORCE SHIELD HAS BEEN DEACTIVATED! 10 MINUTES UNTIL SOLAR FLARE APPROACHES ELENTEAR!
The Doctor: Then let's not waste time. OFF WE GO! *Runs out*
The Doctor, Weiss, and Dalek Khan continued locating where the force shield lever is located as they noticed people screaming for their lives and remaining with their loved ones. He wasn't going to let these people die but he needs to act fast NOW. Using his Sonic Screwdriver and a bit of help from Dalek Khan, they locate a small building with the remaining members of the cult inside. They notice the main source is a kind of beacon which is what activates the shield. They had to reactivate it before it was too late.
Weiss: Khan and I will handle them! You try to stop Azure and activate the force shield.
The Doctor: That's the plan. Just...please be careful you two.
Dalek Khan: I DO NOT NEED TO BE CAREFUL!
Weiss: *giggles and looks at the Doctor* You asked me back there before Khan came if I trusted you. I never got to answer it because I thought about it and wanted to be sure of my answer: I do trust you, Doctor. But do you trust me?
The Doctor: *smiles* You already know the answer to that Ms. Schnee.
The Doctor would split from his companions as they charge towards the entrance of the building to fight and hold off the cult members as he would enter from the back.
Azure: HOW DID THEY ESCAPE! THEY WERE TIED UP AND GUARDED!
Cabriz: It would seem they have another ally! Some sort of robot it was and killed our brothers with ease...
The Doctor: Actually, he's a Dalek. And he does love to exterminate.
The cult brothers were surprised by the sudden appearance of the Doctor as they acted fast to surround the lever from having him reach it.
Azure: No matter! You will not stop the ascension from happening and you will have to go through us if you wish to!
The Doctor: It doesn't have to end this way. No more people have to die. In fact, no one on this planet has to die. Believe me, this ritual of yours will not change anything. There are men, women, and children screaming and running to find a way to survive.
Cabriz: Everyone dies in the end Doctor. Time has a place for everyone's fate. We knew ours from the beginning and we must embrace it. Rejoice. And feel the beginning.
Azure: *pulls out a Scythe* You will join like the others.
Azure charges towards the Doctor who doesn't wish to fight as his only goal is to reactivate the shield. Dodging the strike and sliding under Azure, he tries to run to the lever, only to face a close strike by Cabriz as the Doctor dodges multiple strikes from the bird brothers. Just as he grabs the lever, he gets tackles hard by Azure sending both outside of the building. Weiss and Dalek Khan finished their fight as they heard the commotion and run to it to see their time lord friend about to be killed.
Weiss: DOCTOR!
The Doctor looks back at Weiss as she throws her Myrenaster to him as he catches it and blocks the strike from Azure before drop kicking him. Azure wouldn't stop, so the Doctor launched his Sonic Screwdriver to Weiss as both men clashed in a sword duel.
The Doctor: USE IT FOR ANY NECESSARY PURPOSE!
Dalek Khan: YOU WILL SURRENDER AND REACTIVATE THE SHIELD!
Cabriz: And who the hell do you think you are?
Weiss: I'm Weiss Schnee and that is Dalek Khan. We're the Doctor's friends and we're gonna stop you. You can either give up, surrender or easily get exterminated by Khan.
Cabriz was trapped here by a strange girl and a metallic robot with a blaster that can kill in seconds. He was trapped but he did not plan to surrender, and he knew the ultimate choice he had to make.
Cabriz: The sun will shine on us one day brother.
Weiss: NO!
Dalek Khan: EXTERMINATE!
Cabriz turns around to destroy the lever completely as he is shot and killed by Dalek Khan. But the damage was already done, the lever was broken and now this planet was going to face massive extinction.
Weiss: No! No! No! No! Khan! What do we do now?
Dalek Khan: SCANNING FOR ALTERNATIVES!
Weiss tried looking around as Khan continued scanning then she looked down at her hand with the Sonic Screwdriver. She was starting to get an idea, but she needed to know how to use it first.
Weiss: Khan, can it be fixed?
Dalek Khan: CORRECT!
Weiss: Well then...how do I use this?
On top of the building, Azure continued to fight the Doctor as they both knew time was running out. Thankfully for the Doctor, he had his fair share of sword fighting back on Gallifrey.
The Doctor: Stop it Azure! This won't do anything, and that shield will be activated!
Azure: Why must you be so naïve Doctor?
The Doctor: I'm not. For as long as the Doctor is here, EVERYBODY LIVES ON!
The Doctor managed to get a quick slash on Azure arm which gives him a disadvantage as the Doctor begins to attack quicker. Meanwhile, back inside the building, Weiss and Dalek Khan begin repairing the lever to reactivate the shield as Dalek Khan instructs Weiss how to use the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver.
Weiss: What's next Khan?
Dalek Khan: YOU MUST FIND THE WIRE THAT ACTIVATES THE LEVER WHEN IT IS PULLED! ATTACH TO SONIC SCREWDRIVER!
Weiss: One problem, which wire?
A couple of wires, most of them damaged, were showing from where the lever was destroyed as Weiss hopes that the wire to reactivate isn't a damaged one. Dalek Khan began to scan again as multiple wires had different functions.
Dalek Khan: THE BLUE WIRE! IT IS DAMAGED SO YOU MUST FIND A WAY TO ATTACH IT TOGETHER WITH THE SCREWDRIVER!
Weiss: Crap, how many minutes do we have?
Dalek Khan: 2 MINUTES!
Weiss: *sighs and breathes* Well only one way to find out! Everybody Lives.
Weiss was willing to take the risk and ties both cords around the Sonic Screwdriver as she activates it, but it also sends her back crashing to a wall from being electrocuted.
Dalek Khan: WEISS!
As Dalek Khan would check on Weiss, the Sonic Screwdriver sends an electric pulse on the wires causing to function and reactivate the force shield as Azure noticed the shield beginning to appear. The panicked people stopped to look up as the shield was returning which caused a massive cheer.
Azure: NO! NO! NO! NO! MY PLAN!
The Doctor: Well look at that! Looks like my two amazing companions got the job done while holding you back! Azure, lower your weapon and surrender. You are right about time coming for everyone at some point but today won't be that day! Everybody knows that everybody dies. But not every day. Not today. Some days are special. Some days are so, so blessed. Some days, nobody dies at all. Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair, and the Doctor comes to call, everybody lives. Give up Azure, come with me and I can help.
Azure looked at this young man not knowing how he has so much optimism and positive view in life. After holding him and his friend hostage, trying to kill him, and almost succeeding in wiping this planet yet he only asks him to surrender and will give him help? Azure did indeed drop his weapon before looking at the Doctor.
Azure: You are naïve Doctor, and your optimism will be your greatest weakness. You can't save everyone.
The Doctor: DON'T!
Azure did not listen to the Doctor as he began to climb up the signal pole and fly out into space as the shield closed completely and the solar flare approached. The Doctor can't do anything but avoid seeing Azure get completely burned away by the flare. The planet was saved and so was the population but not without a price. He would head back down only to see Weiss knocked out cold which scared him.
The Doctor: WEISS!
Dalek Khan: SHE SUFFERED A MAJOR SHOCK WHILE REACTIVATING THE SHIELD WITH YOUR SONIC SCREWDRIVER!
The Doctor tried to check her pulse until she gasps for air regaining consciousness. But at the same time, she also feels her entire body sore.
Weiss: Ugh...what happened?...My body...
The Doctor: Just rest for right now and don't speak much. You saved an entire planet Weiss.
Weiss: *smiles faintly* No...we did...Doctor...
About a little over an hour passed until the mayor of the town came in with a crew to repair the lever once the flare passed and it was safe to turn off the shield.
Mayor: Thank you three for saving us! We have already arrested a few members of that cult and are going to look for more around. Do you know who their leader was?
The Doctor: They were two brothers of a different species, but both died while trying to continue their ritual. The main leader, Azure, died in the flare.
Mayor: I see. Well then, we'll have to interrogate the remaining members in hopes of getting the answers we need. Once again Doctor, thank you and your friends for saving us.
The Doctor bid farewell to the mayor as he walked back to Dalek Khan and Weiss as she continues to recover from all body sore experience.
The Doctor: How are you feeling?
Weiss: Still shocked but it'll get over eventually. Too bad we missed the flare.
The Doctor: I already got a better idea in mind but for now, what matters is that everyone is okay.
Weiss gives a small smile back to the Doctor as she sees the townspeople once again minding their lives and back to normal from the earlier scare. Slowly due to her recovery, the trio head back into the TARDIS as they departure back into space. Weiss sits down to rest more as Dalek Khan brings her a drink of water which she accepts.
Weiss: Thank you Khan.
The Doctor: We are just about to approach back home to Beacon but first, we are going to take a quick detour.
Weiss: What detour?
The Doctor: Let's find out! *smiles*
That smile felt like a hypnotic spell to Weiss as she follows the Doctor, and he opens the door to the TARDIS to reveal a beautiful sight she never thought she would see.
The Doctor: Should be obvious to you right?
Weiss: W-What is this...
The Doctor: *chuckles* Earth. Before it came how everyone knew it.
All Weiss could see was a beautiful star and a pile of large rocks around them. She knew Earth was never Earth in the beginning, but she never thought she would see it with her own eyes.
The Doctor: That bright star over there is the Sun!
Weiss: It's so...amazing. Beautiful.
The Doctor: There's still a lot of things you have yet to see, and this is the beginning.
Weiss: *looks at him* Then I want to come with you on every adventure.
The Doctor: And you will, but just know there will be danger out there.
Weiss: I know. But I do trust you plus you made a promise to me.
The Doctor: You'll be safe as long as you're with me.
Weiss smiles at the Doctor as she continues enjoying the view for a little more before heading back home. After about 30 minutes, the TARDIS lands back on Beacon.
Dalek Khan: ARRIVED AT BEACON ACADEMY
The Doctor: We have reached our destination! Enough time to get some good rest for a new day.
Weiss: Doctor...We've been gone for an entire day and I'm pretty sure by right now, everyone is panicking and looking for me!
The Doctor: I wouldn't say that.
Weiss runs outside only to see it's still nighttime and there is no one around. Shocked and confused, she grabs her scroll to check the time and notices it's only been an hour since she left.
Weiss: W-What?!
She tried looking for words, but she was completely lost, and her reaction couldn't be helped as she looked back at the Doctor who was laughing at her.
The Doctor: I told you; Time works differently when you are not on Earth. An entire day with me was basically an hour here.
All she could at the end was laugh as the Doctor smiled back at her. She didn't know what was real anymore and it didn't matter to her.
Weiss: This is insane.
The Doctor: I think the better word would be wibbly wobbly, timey-wimey.
Weiss: I give up. *Giggles more* I need sleep not laughter. Will I see you tomorrow?
The Doctor: Depends. Time goes by fast after all and I might be stuck handling some slime monster with this rusted tin can.
Dalek Khan: I HEARD THAT!
Weiss: Is that a yes then?
The Doctor: Yes. *smiles* Besides just meet me where you first saw my TARDIS.
Weiss: W-Wait! Are you telling me...
The Doctor: TARDIS have cameras too silly. They are living beings as well.
Weiss: Right...Well I'm going to head back and get some sleep for the night. *Waves at Dalek Khan* Goodnight Khan.
Dalek Khan: FAREWELL WEISS SCHNEE!
The Doctor: Now, don't do anything stupid while I'm not here.
The Doctor would be left shocked after getting a quick kiss on the cheek by Weiss as both are left with faint blushes.
Weiss: How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you. Goodnight Doctor!
Weiss runs back to the dorms as the Doctor watches her before heading back inside the TARDIS. He never felt this feeling before and he doesn't know what it was, but it would only happen when Weiss was around.
Dalek Khan: HEART RATE INCREASED BY DOUBLE!
The Doctor: OI! Stop scanning me without asking!
Soon, the TARDIS began to disappear making that mechanical groaning noise as the Doctor and Dalek Khan continued to explore the unknown. Weiss watches from the window of her bedroom as the TARDIS disappears completely and she heads to her bed knowing she probably won't be able to sleep tonight. The adrenaline was high, and her heart could not stop pounding. It's going to be one of those nights.
Weiss: *giggles quietly* Timey Wimey, who even says that.
