Chapter 15:
It was officially Friday, last day of school as the time of the Beacon Dance and Vytal Festival was approaching. For Weiss, it was her lucky day as she needed to work on a history project and today, she was going back in time with the Doctor. To where? She does not know but she always looks ahead for another adventure with the time lord. Not seeing her teammates around which is a relief to her, Weiss writes down a small note for them.
Weiss: Heading out for training and some personal stuff. Be back tonight! -W
Placing the note on the table and grabbing her backpack alongside her Myrtenaster, Weiss heads out of the dorms and begins walking to the park. About 10 minutes later, she arrives and goes deep into the forest area looking for the TARDIS.
Weiss: Where are you parked Doctor? *Looks around* Ah ha!
Nothing makes her excited than seeing the blue police box knowing this isn't any ordinary police box. Just as Weiss was about to knock, she heard movement around the bushes, alarming her thinking it could be Grimm or even White Fang as she took out her weapon.
Weiss: Who's there? Show yourself before I come to you!
A little bit of silence filled the air before the bushes moved again to reveal Ruby, Blake, and Yang to Weiss's horror.
Weiss: G-GUYS! W-Were you spying on me?!
Blake: It was Ruby and Yang's idea, and you got some explaining to do.
Yang: We were here for an hour and feeling very blue not seeing you, but we found this blue police box.
Blake: Bad timing for a bad pun.
Yang: Blakey!
Weiss: Why did you even spy on me?
Ruby: Well, we think you're secretly dating someone since we saw the jacket you had on last night.
Weiss: WHAT?!
Yang: You also keep leaving us after we are done with school or huntress training.
Blake: And you always come to this park and disappear from here. Then we see you walking towards this old police box. Just what is going on Weiss?
Weiss: I... uh...
Ruby: We're a team and friends, we are supposed to trust each other on everything and not hold any secrets.
Yang: We promise we won't tell anyone if that's what you're worried about.
Weiss: *sighs* Okay first off, I'm not dating anyone. Second, I really can't tell you what is going on-
Team RBY: WHY?!
Weiss: BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW?! It's a very long story that I'll share with you guys when the time is right.
Blake: Weiss, if you don't tell us what you are hiding then-
The Doctor: *opens the door* Oi! What's the ruckus out here?
Team RBY: WILLIAM?!
The Doctor: Oh! Hello there Ruby Rose, Blake Belladona, and Yang Xiao Long. Good to see the three of you again.
The trio were in complete shock as Weiss had a mixed reaction of relief and defeat. They hadn't seen the Doctor since the day they rescued Weiss from the Nightmare Grimm which was a little over a month ago. They believed he disappeared and searched for him only to be living here all this time!
The Doctor: And it's the Doctor by the way. Not William, simply the Doctor.
Ruby: H-How...
Yang: Where have you been? We haven't seen you in a month!
The Doctor: I just saw you three recently when we rescued Weiss.
Weiss: Doctor, different time periods remember.
Blake: Weiss! You wanna explain to us what is going on?
Yang: And we want to hear everything!
The Doctor: Why tell when I can show you! Been waiting to have you three come inside.
Ruby: You want us to come in on this very old police box?
Yang: We won't even fit in there all together.
After being disappointed and annoyed by the actions of her teammates, she couldn't hold her laugh not knowing what's in store for them. Giving a look of approval to the Doctor, Weiss looks at her teammates with a smirk as the Doctor heads back inside.
Weiss: You might be surprised Yang. Look, I'll explain everything and apologize to the three of you. But for now, come take a look inside.
The trio look at each other before deciding to go inside the police box one by one as they enter a dark area with only the daylight from outside shining as Weiss closes the door.
Yang: What do you know? We all fit inside!
Ruby: Where are the lights to this? It's almost pitch black in here.
Blake: Only light we have is from outside but even that's not bright enough in here.
While the trio still look outside, Weiss and the Doctor slowly turn on the lights waiting for the big surprise. One by one, each of them would turn around.
Ruby: Yay, we finally got...lights...
Yang: Ruby? What's wrong? Did you find...
Blake: Okay Weiss, what exactly do you-
And just like that, Ruby, Blake, and Yang have now entered the TARDIS completely shocked and speechless at what they are seeing in front of them.
The Doctor: Time and Relative Dimension In Space. *smiles*
Weiss: Or TARDIS for short. *smirks*
The trio kept looking around in awe and stunned, a moment ago they were questioning how they were gonna fit inside. Now they look and question how it is bigger on the inside. How can a small police box look like a futuristic room on the inside?
The Doctor: You're safe in here guys. You're safe in here and always will be!
As Blake continued to be in a daze, Ruby and Yang speed out of the TARDIS to run around it before running back inside in excitement.
Ruby and Yang: IT'S BIGGER ON THE INSIDE!
The Doctor: Told you they would be the most excited.
Weiss: Hmph! No one likes a sour winner, Doctor.
Blake: H-How? W-What even is this?
The Doctor: It's my ship! An advanced and marvelous creation beyond science and time. Travelling across time and space.
Ruby: Weiss...have you...
Weiss: Been travelling with him? Yes, I have.
Blake: This is what you've been doing this whole time?!
Just as the Doctor was about to calm down the trio, it got worse with the sudden appearance of a Dalek.
Dalek Khan: DOCTOR! WHAT IS THE RUCKUS OUT HERE!
Blake and Yang: WHOA! WHAT IS THAT!
Just like the first time Weiss met Dalek Khan, Blake and Yang freaked out at its sudden appearance. But Ruby gasped at what she was seeing in front of her.
Ruby: ITS SO ADORABLE! *Hugs Dalek Khan*
Dalek Khan: ALERT! ALERT! I AM BEING ATTACKED! *Spins around*
Yang: Ruby! Get off that thing!
Dalek Khan: DOCTOR! HELP!
The Doctor: Everyone calm down!
The loud yet relaxed voice by the Doctor stopped everyone on their tracks as they looked at him.
The Doctor: Ruby, Blake, and Yang, that's Dalek Khan. Dalek Khan, that's Blake and Yang while the girl hugging you is Ruby.
Dalek Khan: PLEASE LET GO RUBY!
Ruby: Awwwwww
Blake and Yang: H-Hello. *waves*
Weiss: These are my teammates and friends as well Khan. The ones I've been mentioning to you.
Yang: Wait, you're calm about this?! That's an alien robot Weiss!
Weiss: And? He's really cool and he's the Doctor's friend and co-pilot.
The trio couldn't believe anything that was just happening as the Dalek approached them with Ruby the only one not backing away.
Ruby: You are cute for being an alien robot.
Dalek Khan: DO NOT CALL ME CUTE!
The Doctor: Be nice Khan.
Weiss: Yeah, she likes you already.
The Doctor: Well, why don't we go on our trip and we can catch up on everything you need to know.
Blake: What trip?
The Doctor: Back in time. History Trip!
Yang: Wait! Are you saying that WE are actually going back in time?
The Doctor: Yep. Are we ready Khan?
Dalek Khan: COORDINATES ARE SET AND THE TARDIS IS READY FOR LIFTOFF!
The Doctor: Well in that case-
Weiss: OFF WE GO! *Pulls lever*
The TARDIS shakes startling all three girls as Blake clenches onto Yang like an actual cat while Ruby hangs on to railings while the Doctor, Weiss, and Dalek Khan remain calm.
The Doctor: That was my line dolt!
Weiss: Couldn't resist your treatment, Doctor.
Blake: You two have a lot of explaining to do!
For a good while in the TARDIS, the Doctor explained who he truly is, where he actually is from, adventures with Dalek Khan, how he arrived on Remnant before losing his memories, and his adventures with Weiss. But then, he tried giving a brief story of the Great Time War, but Weiss noticed his difficulty reexplaining it as he would stutter and shake. She held his hand to calm him down and her teammates noticed it as well.
Ruby: Doctor...
The Doctor: I-I'm sorry.
Weiss: Don't be...
Dalek Khan: DOCTOR, breathe.
Blake: You don't have to explain it at all if you don't feel good about it.
Yang: Don't force yourself. We know how devastating wars can be and the damage that is left.
Weiss: It doesn't stop there...this war lasted 400 years and he's the last of his race.
That shook the trio to the core of their hearts. They didn't know how to react or what to say, they all just felt sick to the stomach knowing the Doctor spent most of his life in a war zone and now he's the only one left, especially in a different universe. Blake and Yang looked at Dalek Khan with a suspicious look knowing his kind killed the Doctor's home and people. Weiss noticed.
Weiss: Don't! He's different than every damn Dalek and there are no Daleks in this universe. He is our friend and companion; he helped the Doctor escape and has been a team ever since.
Blake and Yang were left stunned by Weiss scold to the both of them as Ruby approaches Dalek Khan and pats his armor head.
Ruby: Thank you for protecting him and being by his side Khan.
Dalek Khan: HE...is my friend. I WILL PROTECT THE DOCTOR AND HIS FRIENDS!
The Doctor: *smiles softly and stands up* Thanks Khan. But that's basically my story so far: 500-year-old time lord with a blue box, a screwdriver, passing through, helping out, and learning. Exploring worlds and saving people.
Yang: Sounds like a heavy-duty job.
The Doctor: Not for me. *winks* Considering we are going to need to match the clothing of the time we are heading to. Head down the stairs, to your right, second door on your left, and that should be the changing room.
Weiss: How far back are we going Doctor?
The Doctor: The era of when humans and Faunus got along in peace under the name of Nicholas Schnee.
Weiss and Blake eyes bulged out in shock hearing where they are heading to. For Weiss, a chance to learn about her family's history especially her grandfather and for Blake, a chance to see the one place humans and Faunus were able to cooperate and live together with no racism or segregation.
The Doctor: Only thing I'll ask is to make sure you find something that suits you and at the same time, blends with the crowd. Oh, and do have your weapons with you.
Wasn't long until the TARDIS arrived in the kingdom of Mantle and fortunately around that time, police boxes were still a common thing. The Doctor is the first to come out with his usual attire except he replaced his leather jacket for a trench coat jacket. Weiss, Blake, and Ruby would come out wearing Mantle dresses from that time while Yang would be wearing tomboy kind of outfit.
Ruby: Wait, where's Khan?
The Doctor: He's going to be staying behind in the TARDIS. Advanced technology has yet to exist around this time so questions and suspicions would be growing if Khan came with us.
Dalek Khan: I WILL ALSO BE GUARDING THE TARDIS!
Khan closes the door of the TARDIS as the Doctor places an 'Out of Order' Sign in the meantime. The girls continued to look around and explore a bit of how Mantle was before they were even born.
The Doctor: Welcome to Mantle, 40 years from the present day.
Yang: This is still hard to believe that we travelled back in time.
Ruby: Doctor, have you been doing this for a while?
The Doctor: Quite a while actually. *chuckles* Cmon! Better get those history papers ready to write.
The Doctor and Weiss walked ahead as Ruby, Blake, and Yang followed as they begin their first adventure with the Doctor. Meanwhile, in an alley not that far from the TARDIS, a group of troublemaking teens are vandalizing a local store owned by Faunus with hateful words as a dark figure nearby watches them.
Teen #1: This will drive them crazy. They got their own land, why should they even be here!
Teen #2: Yo, who is that?
The group look towards the dark figure as it approaches them without saying a word.
Teen #1: You lost old man?
The dark figure did not say anything as it stopped approaching them.
Teen #3: He's probably deaf. Won't even show his face.
Teen #2: What if he's a faunus?
Teen #1: So, you're one of them huh? Don't worry sir, we'll make sure to take you back safely to where you actually belong.
The group begin to approach the figure with bats and pocket knife til the dark figure grabs one of the teens and reveals itself to them letting out a blood curling scream.
Teen #1: NO! WHAT THE FUCK?! HELP!
The grip got tighter as the figure opened it's mouth and absorbed the young man completely as the others ran away as fast as they could screaming for help. The figure drops the teen's corpse now looking like a mummy as the figure now appears with wrinkly skin with some parts of his still showing a decay appearance before disappearing into the shadows and leaving a warning with the face of Nicholas Schnee from a poster ripped off completely.
