Chapter 17:
She looked around the rooms yet no sign of the little girl which was frustrating Weiss. It was more of a concern frustration because this creature can take the life of her mother at any moment and Weiss would be erased from history alongside her siblings. She needed to find Willow and fast then it hit her, a place her mother would tell her where she would play hide and seek with Nicholas. She continued to run to the direction until she was stopped by the sight of her: Dr. Pavel appearing more human every time he takes a soul, but his eyes were black like soulless.
Dr. Pavel: More...
Weiss: *takes out Myrtenaster* This has gone too far Dr. Pavel! What do you want with Nicholas?
Dr. Pavel: His death... after all the years of neglect and rejection.
Weiss: You were experimenting with Grimm and Dust, that's a move no sane person would do. He rejected it for a reason.
Dr. Pavel: Yet...He was the one who encouraged the idea!
Weiss: What?...
Dr. Pavel: He created the idea, and I created the experiment but once the accident occurred...HE SHUT IT DOWN! AND NOW, HE. WILL. PAY.
He lunges at her at a fast speed as Weiss ducks and strikes him with her ice dust to leave him momentarily frozen as he tries to break through the ice. Shen uses her glyphs to create an ice barrier between Dr. Pavel to hold him longer as she runs to continue finding Willow. She arrives at the room she knows Willow would be hiding, the room she unfortunately spent most of her time in recent years. She tries to open it but it's locked.
Weiss: Clever girl mom...AHEM! Willow, are you in there?
Willow: W-Who is it...
Weiss: It's Miss Sarah Jane Smith. Your parents are looking for you, they're safe.
Willow: B-But the big ghost man is out there...
Weiss: I trapped him for right now and we don't have much time. Please open the door so we can go to your mommy and daddy.
Weiss heard nothing back from her, which worried her until she noticed the door open slowly to reveal little Willow. It hurt Weiss to see how happy and free she was in this time as a little girl and growing up before marrying her father.
Willow: Why are you crying Miss Smith?
Weiss didn't even realize there was tears falling as she was going to wipe them until Willow went to her and wiped them for her.
Weiss: Sorry...just got a little sad seeing how much your parents really care for you...
Willow understood that Weiss parents may not care for her and proceeds to hug Weiss. Even though this little girl has not a single idea at all the woman she will be in the future and all the trouble that will come, Weiss felt special receiving this hug from her mother. That hug was soon broken when the scream of Dr. Pavel was heard, meaning he had escaped.
Weiss: Let's go! *Picks up Willow and runs*
Weiss began to run as fast as she could knowing she could be caught at any moment but what matters most is that her mother and grandparents are safe. Just as she is about to arrive at her grandfather's office room, she is stopped by Dr. Pavel standing right in front of them.
Dr. Pavel: Your souls are mine! What a much worse fate for Nicholas than to see his daughter dead!
Weiss: YOU WON'T LAY A FINGER ON HER! Willow...once I fight him, run to the room and don't look back.
Weiss didn't know if this was the end of her road or not, but she wasn't going to stop protecting the people she cares most for. Dr. Pavel unleashes another blood curling scream before charging at her only to fall on the ground screeching in pain. She heard a familiar ringing noise and when she turned around, the Doctor was there.
The Doctor: Are you okay? What are you doing out here?!
Weiss: Willow was hiding, and I had to find her. I'm okay though.
The Doctor: Good, now go inside with her fast!
The trio run back into the room and lock it as Dr. Pavel tries to regain consciousness. He has never felt weak in this new body until that boy recently used his device to weaken him. Meanwhile in the room, the door has been barricaded to give the group some time for protection and Weiss secretly uses her glyph to add an ice layer to the front side of the door.
Willow: MOM! DAD!
Willow runs to her parents who return her with a strong hug and emotionally happy that she's safe. Weiss watches on bringing her a warm smile before the Doctor hugs her tightly by surprise without saying anything. She's never seen him like this, but it meant he was scared to death something may have happened to her; Blushing lightly she returns the hug, comforting him.
Weiss: I'm okay...I'm okay...
Team RBY noticed and while they would love to tease them both, they couldn't because they noticed how much The Doctor and Weiss mean to each other. The Doctor finds comfort, caring, and trust within Weiss while Weiss can be true to herself and free from the 'perfection' chain, thanks to the Doctor. The moment was ruined when loud knocks were heard as Dr. Pavel tried to rip the door open.
The Doctor: Everyone get behind the desk and stay together!
Team RWBY and the Schnee family followed his orders as they got together behind Nicholas's office table as the Doctor approaches them and waits for Dr. Patel. After a couple more tries, the door breaks as Dr. Pavel enters the room as everyone noticed that despite he's still in human form, his eyes are completely black with black veins around him.
The Doctor: Now it's making more sense. You really are a mad man!
Blake: Doctor, you're not saying that-
The Doctor: He's injected himself with Grimm DNA.
Dr. Pavel: I like your thinking, Doctor! Perhaps after killing each of these people, I'll gladly take yours to boost my intelligence.
The Doctor: I wouldn't be sure of that.
Dr. Pavel growls then lunges towards the group but is pushed back by an invisible force which confused everyone but the Doctor. Dr. Pavel tried once again to lunge at everyone but couldn't prevail. He lets out a frustrating roar as the Doctor smirks.
The Doctor: Not having any luck?
Dr. Pavel: WHAT IS THIS?!
The Doctor: I can show you instead of telling.
The Doctor snaps his fingers as a familiar mechanic's groan were heard. Everyone went from being in Nicholas's office to inside the TARDIS.
Dalek Khan: TARDIS HAS BEEN MATERIALIZED!
The Doctor: How are we looking Khan?
Dalek Khan: THE ENTITY WILL NOT HAVE ANY ENTRY TO ATTACK!
The Doctor: Just the news we needed.
Yang: Doctor...how did you even bring the TARDIS in here?
The Doctor: I have my ways not to mention my copilot.
Nicholas looked around the TARDIS still in disbelief at what had just occurred. Weiss watched as her grandfather looked around while Willow and her mother were resting from the horrifying incident with Dr. Pavel.
Nicholas: Good heavens...w-what even is this contraption?
The Doctor: Oh right! It's called a TARDIS, it can travel anywhere in time and space.
Nicholas: Time and Space?
The Doctor: *sighs and chuckles* Nicholas Schnee, I'm no ordinary Doctor. I'm a time traveler, this is my ship, and that Dalek is my copilot.
Nicholas: Dalek? And what about these girls?
Team RWBY looked nervous as to whether they should tell the truth or come up with a real good lie. They were about to speak out until the Doctor spoke for them.
The Doctor: They are also time travelers, 40 years from the future. But they are humans like you, I'm not. I'm a Time Lord.
Nicholas: Remarkable. So the theory that there is more out there beyond our imagination is true.
The Doctor: Right you are Nicholas. But for now, we must focus on Dr. Patel.
Dalek Khan: HE STOPPED ATTACKING! HE IS NOW OBSERVING!
The Doctor: Maybe I could get him to talk now. Everyone stays in here, you can watch through the computer screens.
The Doctor walks outside to confront the entity as everyone watches. The entity looks in amusement as to seeing such advanced technology before looking at the Doctor.
Dr. Pavel: I must say from one doctor to another, this is advanced.
The Doctor: Glad you're impressed. Now what do you want with Nicholas Schnee?
Dr. Pavel: What kind of a doctor are you?
The Doctor: Not like one you've seen before.
Dr. Pavel: I have noticed. Your little device that weakened me and now your magical police box. Are you from the future?
The Doctor: I am and very much more.
Dr. Pvtel: So, how does space kill you?
The Doctor: The main problem is pressure. There aren't any.
Dr. Pavel: Right you are. Blood vessels rupture. Exposed areas swell. Fun fact! The boiling temperature of water is much lower in a vacuum.
The Doctor: Which means that your sweat and your saliva will boil, as will the fluid around your eyes. You won't notice any of this because fifteen seconds in, you've passed out as oxygen bubbles formed in your blood. And ninety seconds in, you're dead.
The group continued watching from inside the TARDIS feeling the tension between both the Human/Grimm entity and the time lord. No matter what kind of questions regarding science, space, and time Dr. Patel would ask, the Doctor knew right away.
Yang: This is like an intense game of chess with science! I never thought I would be so entertained.
Weiss: He's not doing it to know the Doctor's knowledge, he's trying to find a crack in him.
Nicholas: That's concerning. Dr. Pavel was considered one of the highest minds when he graduated, he knows how to examine people well, how they think, act, and feel.
Weiss: Well, he's never met anyone like The Doctor. Trust him.
Dr. Pavel: You're a tough one to crack Doctor.
The Doctor: Oh, it's simple. I may look human like everyone else but I'm not. Now answer my question, what do you want from Nicholas?
Dr. Pavel: His soul. His death. To rid him of existence in the most painful and horrifying end AFTER EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED!
The Doctor: Yet it was you who were experimenting on merging Grimm with dust, the creator of these creatures would have a much bigger advantage than you could imagine. Many more deaths could happen, and this world would be a wasteland.
Dr. Pavel: This planet and its people will die eventually.
The Doctor: You're right... But not today nor tomorrow nor anytime soon! Not while there are so many good people around the world. Not while the Doctor is still around!
Dr. Pavel: I'm guessing your little girlfriend didn't tell you what I told her!
The Doctor: Told her what...
Weiss listened as she looked at her grandfather who had a guilty face knowing what Dr. Pavel was going to say. It hurt her to see her grandfather like this but also because of the secret she never knew until now.
Dr. Pavel: I wouldn't have done any of this...hadn't he suggested the idea in the beginning.
Everyone inside the TARDIS looked in shock and all looked at Nicholas who dared not show his face and only continued watching the monitor.
Dr. Pavel: He came with the idea after witnessing a Grimm turn on its own and killing them after absorbing dust from a broken weapon. He believed that if we could inject dust into them, they would fight for us and kill any other Grimms in the way.
The Doctor: And yet, you proceeded to experiment rather than realizing the dust was like a trigger drug for the creature to attack anything in its way, even its own. For a mad scientist like you, it made sense you don't have any common sense.
Dr. Pavel: But one fatal accident changed all that and made poor Nick soft. He shut the experiment down, but I continued behind his back. I then realized, what if I could do something better. Some of us have semblances so why not merge Grimm DNA with our own, insert dust into a kind of drug! It is the ultimate superhuman.
The Doctor: That's what you decided to make yourself. A hybrid entity.
Dr. Patel: And it worked!
The Doctor: No, it did not. You died in the fire while trying to experiment on yourself. Your body was decomposing because of the Grimm DNA alongside burns by the fire. Grimms found you because of the DNA and brought you to their creator who saw what you tried to do. They gave you a second chance and created you into the monster you deserve to be.
Dr. Patel: H-How did you-
The Doctor: I have my ways plus looking at you, at first before you began killing people, it was obvious you died but their creator brought you back.
Dr. Pavel, angered by all this, jumps at the Doctor only to once again be thrown back by the force field of the TARDIS. Nicholas marches out to confront the mad scientist now hearing what occurred after Dr. Patel's "death".
Nicholas: YOU ARE SICK!
Dr. Pavel: Maybe I am, but that's how we evolve in life. If only I could get my hands on you but you are lucky. For now at least.
The Doctor: What do you mean for now?
Dr. Pavel: Bring me Nicholas in 2 hours or I will kill everyone in this town. I will bring my Grimm friends to terrorize this town with blood and ashes.
Before more can be said, Dr. Pavel vanishes into dark smoke and disappears. He was giving them 2 hours to sacrifice Nicholas or everyone in this town will die. Nicholas and the Doctor walk back into the TARDIS to start planning with the others.
Ruby: Two hours...that's plenty of time right?
The Doctor: Plenty. I could read some books, explore the city, enjoy some good food-
Weiss: Doctor!
The Doctor: Yes I know, I know. I know the place he's going to be in, and he will not come alone. Team RWBY and Khan, time for some action. Nicholas, I already know what to do with you.
Everyone looked at the Doctor with confusion except for Weiss who nodded in agreement with the Doctor. She looked at everyone and smiled back at them.
Weiss: I did say to trust the Doctor, he never breaks his promises on saving people.
Blake: Can't tell if this is gonna be a risky mission.
Yang: Or a fun one!
Ruby: But we ain't going nowhere, Team RWBY sticks together! *smiles*
The Doctor: *smiles back* Alrighty then folks, let's get to work!
And so the TARDIS began to disappear from Nicholas's room as everyone inside began the ultimate plan to defeat Dr. Pavel for good. It was going to be a risky one but they are going to do whatever it takes to protect the city and Nicholas Schnee.
