Chapter 18:
2 hours later and the TARDIS had fully arrived at where the Doctor knew Dr. Pavel would wait for them, where the incident occurred. Once a lab building, now a wasteland, Dr. Pavel emerged but not alone as other Grimm creatures appeared behind him but a simple whistle by him put them in their places.
Dr. Pavel: Nicholas Schnee! This is your only chance to come out before I send these creatures to town. I won't ask again.
To his surprise and joy, Nicholas walks out of the TARDIS but remains close to it as both men look at each other with hatred.
Dr. Pavel: I'm surprised you came out alone. Unless it's a planned trap by you!
Nicholas: As Leader of Mantle for the safety of my people, I asked them to remain behind in the TARDIS. You know me too well Pavel that I stand by my word!
Dr. Pavel: You were...until YOU shut down my work!
Nicholas: No, I did what was right after my wrongdoing. I was a fool to believe what I saw could happen more but the Doctor was right! The Grimm didn't turn against its own kind because it wanted to but because the dust triggered it.
Dr. Pavel: You were being impatient; you didn't want the result you wanted so you shut it down! But all took was patience and evolution and BEHOLD! The first super hybrid of Human and Grimm!
Nicholas walked further from the TARDIS, which no longer protects him under the force field, to Dr. Pavel's pleasure.
Dr. Pavel: You weren't kidding, for the mighty Nicholas Schnee to no longer be under protection and finally come out to face me! You may be a warrior, but I am the ultimate super soldier.
Nicholas: No, you are not. You are simply a monster right from the start! And you will no longer hurt anyone no more.
Dr. Pavel grinned as he lunges towards Nicholas tackling him to the ground ready to finish him off and eat his soul until he uses the Doctor's sonic screwdriver to activate towards Dr. Pavel causing him and other Grimms to shriek in pain by the ringing noise. As the mad scientist looks up, he realizes it was a hologram in disguise as "Nicholas" is revealed to actually be the Doctor.
The Doctor: Good ol' TARDIS Interactive Hologram. Disguise themselves as someone nearby and have them do the talk from inside the TARDIS.
Dr. Pavel was left in shock before fueling anger with this trick but wasted no time as he roared at the Grimms to attack. The Doctor however, knew this was coming and was prepared.
The Doctor: Time to shine Team RWBY!
And jumping out from behind the TARDIS was Team RWBY ready to slay these Grimms, but they weren't alone. A blast struck multiple Grimm beings in a short span and out came Dalek Khan to join in on the battle. Dr. Pavel watched in rage before being struck down by the real Nicholas in his armor, sword, and shield.
Nicholas: This ends now!
The knight and hybrid charge against each other as they fight while Team RWBY and Dalek Khan handle the Grimms. However, some are distracted by the perfect aim Khan has not missing a single shot to a Grimm. They remember this is a Dalek turned good, an alien that can take over the universe.
Dalek Khan: EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!
Yang: That's scary.
Ruby: SO COOL!
Weiss: Girls! Focus!
Blake: Where's the Doctor?
Nicholas and Dr. Pavel continued fighting while Dr. Pavel was getting more enraged. Just as he found an opening spot for the kill, he was struck back to the ground. Once he gets up he goes from rage to confusion to see two Nicholas.
Dr. Pavel: W-What is this?!
Before an answer was given, both Nicholas changed to the Doctor shocking Dr. Pavel.
Dr. Pavel: Y-YOU! DOCTOR!
The clone of the Doctor reverted to Nicholas which was raging the mad scientist. Rage, Negative emotions, it's what attracts Grimms, it's what makes a Grimm. That was the Doctor's plan in this situation.
*FLASHBACK*
The Doctor: Dr. Pavel may believe he's superhuman but he's soon to become nothing else but a Grimm just like the other monsters.
Blake: What makes you think that?
Nicholas: We all would like to know.
The Doctor: I wasn't just stunning Dr. Pavel to keep him down every time I used my Sonic Screwdriver; I was scanning him completely.
The Doctor connects his Sonic to the TARDIS Computer and pulls up the screen for everyone to see.
The Doctor: His whole body has become more of Grimm DNA than Human DNA. It's eating every bit of his human cells to make him full Grimm. Why do you think he killed those innocent lives?
Blake: *thinks and eyes widen* He knows he needs to have human cells in him or else it's too late!
Weiss: That's why he only rages when he attacks. To keep what is left of his human emotions because Grimm is created by negativity.
The Doctor: Exactly! The more time he continues without killing any humans and becoming more rageful, the more he becomes a Grimm and Dr. Pavel no more.
Weiss: Are you suggesting that we put my grand- I MEAN Nicholas in danger! Doctor, there's a huge risk I'm not willing to take.
Nicholas: It has been a while since my huntsmen days but I still got in me. I do appreciate the concern but I will do my best to hold him off.
The Doctor: Not quite actually. While I was gonna ask if you are willing to fight Dr. Pavel, I won't put you entirely at risk either like Weiss says.
Once again, the group remains confused by what the Doctor is talking about until Dalek Khan scans Nicholas startling the old Schnee.
Dalek Khan: SCAN IS COMPLETE! TRANSMITTING TO SONIC SCREWDRIVER!
The Doctor: Thanks Khan! *Scans myself* Watch!
The Doctor then uses his sonic screwdriver which instantly transforms himself into Nicholas and Nicholas into the Doctor shocking everyone in the room.
The Doctor: Interactive Hologram, courtesy of Khan and the TARDIS. I'm going to come out as Nicholas to hold him down for a couple of minutes while he does the talking from in here. The plan will be to make Dr. Pavel completely rage out which will have his Grimm cells eat what's left of his humanity. Obviously, he won't come alone and I won't either.
Weiss: *nods* We'll be ready on your mark Doctor.
Nicholas: Doctor, I would like to contribute as well.
The Doctor: You already are Nicholas. Just need to speak from the TARDIS while I lip sync it.
Nicholas: No, I mean should things get out of hand...let me help in battle and defeat Dr. Pavel. It is me he wants and he will get it.
The Doctor: If you go out there to face him, you are putting yourself at risk and history can change.
Nicholas: I'm a warrior, a father, and a leader. I have many reasons to be very careful.
*END FLASHBACK*
Dr. Pavel: Not bad! Two kills for one, just my type!
Nicholas: Enough! If there's further death or bloodshed, your punishments will be worse.
The Doctor: Erasure of Identity.
Dr. Pavel angered already charges at both the warrior and time lord as they began to complete the plan. Nicholas fighting him while the Doctor weakening him with his screwdriver. Team RWBY continued fighting the Grimms with some team up combos and solo finishers.
Yang: AHHH! *Blasts a Grimm* Who's Next!
Blake: *slashes a Grimm behind Yang and smirks* Thank me later!
Yang: You bad kitty! *smirks*
Ruby: Weiss! Still remember our combo from our first mission?
Weiss: You thinking what I'm thinking?
Ruby: You betcha!
Weiss sets up multiple ice glyphs in front of Ruby's weapon as Ruby shoots multiple shots which shapes into icicles killing multiple Grimms around them.
Ruby: Booyah! Still need a name for our combo though.
Weiss: Maybe when we are NOT in battlefield.
Yang: That's almost all the Grimms right?
Blake: They'll keep on coming as long as they still feel Dr. Pavel presence.
Dalek Khan: HIS GRIMMS CELLS ARE EXPANDING! 87% TIL HE BECOMES A COMPLETE GRIMM! WE MUST CONTINUE FIGHTING AND HELPING THE DOCTOR AND NICHOLAS SCHNEE!
Weiss began to think of making this process go by faster as she looked over at her grandfather and the Doctor continuing to toy with the mad scientist.
Weiss: Girls! You three continue fighting them off with Dalek Khan, let him lead forward! I'm going to help the boys out with Dr. Pavel.
Dalek Khan: THAT WOULD INCREASE THE MUTATION BY 3% PER MINUTE!
Ruby: Be careful Weiss!
Weiss nods as she uses her glyphs to speed up and approach Dr. Pavel, slashing him from behind which fueled his anger more.
Nicholas: Miss Smith! This is too risky for you!
The Doctor: It is! But a third addition can help us speed up our plan Nicholas, besides look! *Points to Dr. Pavel*
Dr. Pavel began to decompose as his Grimm features are appearing more, meaning the humans cells in him are not much left in him, as he began to notice the change as well which causes him to panic.
Dr. Pavel: No...NO! NO! NOOO! *Looks at the trio* T-This is a trap...
The Doctor: The more you don't eat souls of people and the more of your negative emotions catch up, the more you begin to become a Grimm completely. You didn't think of that on time did ya?
Dr. Pavel: I can still save myself...once I take your souls and your friends.
Nicholas: We like to see you try.
Dr. Pavel: Then I'll make this more difficult for you!
Dr. Pavel screeches at the Grimms and points to the city which the remaining Grimms begin to charge towards creating a more complex situation for the heroes.
Ruby: The Grimms are heading into town! What do we do!
The Doctor: Trying to create a diversion of your own? Ruby! Blake! Yang! Khan! Into the TARDIS!
The four nodded and ran back into the TARDIS as the Doctor was about to run inside but looked back at Weiss and her grandfather who are going to stay and finish Dr. Pavel which worried him.
Weiss: We'll be fine. I'll be fine Doctor. Go!
The Doctor, hesitant at first, runs back inside as the TARDIS disappears leaving the two Schnee's.
Dr. Pavel: Now that he's out of the equation, this should be fun! *smirks*
Back down in the forest, the TARDIS appears while flying as the door opens for RBY and Dalek Khan to fly out and begin attacking the remaining Grimms while the Doctor continues to pilot to prevent any crashes. Preventing the Grimms from reaching the city and Dr. Pavel fighting against Nicholas and Weiss was beginning to stress the Doctor. He needed to figure how to end this and fast!
The Doctor: Cmon! What would the Doctor do in this case? *thinks*
Then it hit him, an idea smacked onto his face to turn this from two problems into one. Looking at little Willow and her mother, the Doctor grabs his Sonic Screwdriver walking to them giving the little girl a reassuring look.
The Doctor: Little Willow. *smiles* You ever wished on being a hero?
Willow: Mhm... *nods* But I'm scared of the Nightmare man...
The Doctor: He's not gonna hurt you, you're not even gonna see him. *Hands my screwdriver* Trust me, you're gonna be saving your pops and our friends. The day Willow Schnee becomes the hero.
A confident and calm smile by the time lord calmed down little Willow as she grabs the sonic screwdriver. Back outside, RBY and Khan continued slaying Grimms but were beginning to be outnumbered until a voice was heard from afar attracting the Grimms
Willow: DAD!
Ruby: Oh no!...
Yang: Willow!
Willow: DAD! COME BACK! PLEASE...
The Grimms began to follow the voice of Willow which complicated the situation even more for the gang.
Blake: We need to get to her FAST!
Dalek Khan: BACK INTO THE TARDIS NOW!
Yang: DOCTOR! WILLOW RAN AWAY!
Ruby: WE NEED TO GET TO HER RIGHT...Now?
The four run back into the TARDIS, only to be caught by surprise seeing Willow there with her mother confusing the four heroes.
Team RBY: What?!
Blake: Willow? You're still in here!
Willow: Mhm! Doctor said I am hero and captain of his ship!
Yang: I am so lost...
Dalek Khan: DOCTOR, A GENIUS IDEA!
The trio looked at Khan as he activated the TARDIS setting the coordinates back to where Weiss and Nicholas are.
Dalek Khan: GRIMMS ARE ATTRACTED TO NEGATIVE EMOTIONS!
Blake: Yeah and?
Ruby: *gasp* That wasn't Willow!
Dalek Khan: WILLOW! WHAT DID THE DOCTOR ASK?
Willow: To shout for my dad.
Yang: He used his screwdriver and is using her voice as a diversion to attract the Grimms back to Dr. Pavel!
Dalek Khan: CORRECT! WE MUST HEAD BACK TO THE OTHERS AND FINISH THIS!
Ruby: Willow...you just became your Daddy's hero and to us...thank you.
Willow: YAY!
As the TARDIS disappears and flies back to Weiss, Nicholas, and Dr. Pavel, the Doctor is running through the forest with a voiceover of Willow replaying and sees the Grimms chasing him.
The Doctor: Oh! I'm very good!
Back at the top, Weiss and Nicholas continued fighting Dr. Pavel while also toying with him to increase his negative emotions. During the fight however, Nicholas began to notice Weiss fighting skills and magic which looked oddly familiar to him.
Willow: DADDY!
Nicholas: Willow?...
Dr. Pavel: Willow! All alone and lost! *smirks* Not only will I get to kill you Nicholas! I'm going to break you...BY KILLING YOUR PRECIOUS DAUGHTER!
Nicholas: NO! DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HER!
Weiss: STOP!
Weiss was about to use her glyphs and crash with Dr. Pavel as he began to speed into the forest only to be caught by surprise when he sees it isn't Willow. To the relief of both Nicholas and Weiss but anger by Dr. Pavel, the Doctor appears.
The Doctor: I'm sorry! I think you're confusing me for someone else!
Dr. Pavel: Another trick of yours, Doctor!
The Doctor: A trick and a strategy! Cause I'm not alone!
Dr. Pavel face dropped when he sees the Grimms approaching once again, they never made it into town because of the damn Doctor and his friends. At the same time, the TARDIS appears behind the Grimms and a full ambush by Team RBY and Dalek Khan happens on the remaining Grimms.
Dr. Pavel: NOOOOOOO! AHHHHHHHHH! *Screeches in rage*
Dalek Khan: GRIMM COMPLETION AT 96%!
The mad scientist grew more features of Grimm as his human form decayed more only leaving his face intact. Nicholas and Weiss surrounded him to finish him off but the scientist had other plans.
Dr. Pavel: I'll KILL YOU ALL! YOUR SOULS...WILL BE MINE! But first...
Dr. Pavel slowly looked at the Doctor as the time lord stood his ground. Before anyone could react, Dr. Pavel speeds off and tackles the Doctor deep in the forest.
Weiss: DOCTOR! *Activates Glyphs and runs*
Crashing both on the ground, Pavel tries to absorb the Doctor's soul but the Doctor uses his screwdriver to create a big flash sending the scientist falling back. The Doctor gets up as Dr. Pavel was changing completely as he noticed his face was finally disappearing. The voice of the mad scientist was alsp beginning to distort and disappear.
Dr. Pavel: I'll ARGH...Start with- EUGH! YOU! RAAAAAWGHHHH!
The Doctor: You're too late Dr. Pavel. The lives you have taken away are coming back for you, the mutation will change you into a complete Grimm, and you will be nothing. It's Over!
The mutation was complete as Pavel's face decays completely and the mad scientist was no more. Standing in front of the Doctor was now another Grimm growling and eyeing the Doctor, who in return displayed no fear.
The Doctor: Erased from history and now erased from existence, you are now nothing more than a Grimm.
The Grimm releases another blood curling scream and lunges at the Doctor but instead is sliced in half by the Schnee warrior and his granddaughter as the Grimm collapses on the ground. At long last, Dr. Pavel was gone and the Grimm mutant is dead as it disappears into ashes.
Nicholas: Now...you're fired forever...
The Doctor: Nicholas! Are you alright?
Nicholas: I am Doctor...thank you. But you should ask Miss Smith?
The Doctor: What?
The Doctor turned around only to be tackled to the ground by Weiss who hold him in a tight embrace. There it was again, that calm and comforting feeling he felt when close to Weiss as the pair sit up.
Weiss: *sniffs* Y-You Jerk!... You sure don't care about putting yourself at risk! Are you trying to die on purpose?!
The Doctor: *smiles softly and hugs back* I'm okay Weiss.
Weiss: I'm not! We had all this planned and it worked but then he sends the Grimms down then takes you away...and I thought that...
Weiss was stopped when the Doctor placed his forehead on hers relaxing her slowly as tears fell. Closing her eyes, she felt that same comforting feeling as the two stayed like that for a little bit more, unbeknownst to each other that their hearts were beating very fast. Both knew their hearts were going too fast on this but they couldn't resist that feeling of what if. After reuniting with the rest of the crew, the TARDIS arrives back at the Schnee mansion as Nicholas exits with his family.
Weiss: What you going to tell your people about the incidents?
Yang: Why not another cover up now that Dr. Pavel is gone?
Nicholas: I'll most likely do that but I would need to think of a good cover up.
The Doctor: What matters is that it's over. You and your wonderful family are now safe Nicholas.
Willow: And I was the hero!
Nicholas: Yes, you are my child. My favorite hero!
Weiss watched as her grandfather played with her mom which brought bittersweet emotion to her. She wished her life would be like this and not the one she lives in. She feels her hand grabbed and looks to see Ruby giving her a comforting look which relaxes Weiss.
The Doctor: Well, I do believe it is time for us to part.
Nicholas: I see, will this be the last time we see you, Doctor?
The Doctor: I hope not! *Takes out hand* Til we meet again Nicholas.
Nicholas: Thank you very much for everything Doctor. For helping and protecting my family.
The Doctor and Nicholas shook hands before separating as Nicholas approached Team RWBY and The Doctor approached Willow.
The Doctor: Now then Little Willow, don't let anyone EVER mess with you. Remember you are the hero to your family and one day to special people in the future. Always be kind.
Willow: *giggles* Yes Doctor!
Nicholas: Well then ladies, it's been a pleasure meeting you and thank you so much for protecting my wife and daughter.
Ruby: It was no deal, that's what we huntresses are for!
Nicholas: Now if there's anything I can do to change the future a bit I'll gladly can!
The Doctor: Just...don't ask for anything too detailed or major.
Blake: Your history on bringing peace between humans and faunus has meant a lot to us. Please continue fighting and keeping the peace as much as you can and thank you!
Nicholas: Noted, I shall make it my duty to improve it and hope that in the future, all of remnant shall be in union.
Yang: I guess on behalf of Ruby and I, uhhhh just keep being awesome!
Nicholas chuckled and nodded at the sisters as he walked to Weiss who had a sad look while looking down at her hands.
Weiss: I...I wish... I could tell you so much and ask you for so many thing to change...but I know it can't. S-So...I'll ask for an adivce from you...please...
Nicholas placed his hand on Weiss's shoulder as she looks up at him and he returns with a big smile. The same smile she remembered most about him when she was young.
Nicholas: I already know some and I'll do my best to fix that Miss Smith. As for an advice, whoever or whatever is holding you back should be let go from you. The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice-versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant. Be yourself, be open, be kind, and cherish the memories you will create, have made, and be with the people who mean most to you.
Tearing up at the beautiful advice and knowing this may be the last time she will ever see her grandfather; Weiss jumps to hug him tight as he chuckles and returns the hug.
Weiss: T-Thank you...I promise I'll make it right...*sniffs*
Nicholas: I know you will and I hope to be a part of it someday.
Wiping her tears and letting go of her grandfather, it was finally time to go as Team RWBY entered the TARDIS with Weiss waving at her grandparents one last time and waving her little mother goodbye. The Doctor waves as well as he closes the door and the TARDIS begins to disappear. An eventful journey but one that neither of the girls will forget, especially Weiss.
Blake: You okay Weiss?
Ruby: I know it must've been difficult saying goodbye to them...
Weiss: *sniffs* I'll be fine...it's just gonna take some time. B-But...I'm really glad I got to see them again and my mom when she was a little girl.
Yang: Even if we had to fight a mutated Grimm and almost risked our lives?
The four girls' chuckles at the thought as the Doctor watches them. These four were at level of best friends but would one day become a family complete. A family...
Ruby: Doctor?
The Doctor: Ah! Yes Ruby!
Ruby: Thank you as well, for bringing us into this adventure.
Yang: Can we come on more?
Blake: Yang!
The Doctor: I don't see why not. I already have Weiss and Khan so why not more? The more the merrier am I right?
Ruby: Yep! You're our friend and after today we want to go on more awesome adventures! Plus...*hugs Dalek Khan* I wanna be with him too!
Dalek Khan: RUBY! GET OFF ME! *Spins around* ALERT! ALERT!
Yang: Ruby! Get down from Khan!
The Doctor: Let her be! She's only trying to be your friend Khan!
Dalek Khan: NOT LIKE THIS!
Weiss: *giggles* Crazy Adventures in Time and Space, what can go wrong?
The Doctor: Many things, but as long as we stick together and have fun, we'll be fine.
Weiss: One big timey wimey family!
The Doctor: A Family...Yeah...
The Doctor smiles brightly at the thought as he holds Weiss's hand and she holds it back while watching the rest of her team try to pull Ruby down from Dalek Khan while returning home. Remembering Nicholas's words, she was very thankful and she knows her grandfather would be proud of who she will become.
The Doctor: Wait! Did you say timey wimey?
Weiss: Oops! Spoilers. *winks*
