Chapter 19:
The weekend was finally here and today was a lazy day for Team RWBY, well mostly everyone. After a long and adventurous day with the Doctor yesterday, it certainly took a lot of energy from the gang with fighting Dr. Pavel and the Grimms while also protecting Weiss's family. They also had enough learning from their travel to the past to fill out their history reports so another reason to celebrate the weekend. It was the afternoon as Ruby and Yang played video games while Blake was reading her book but Weiss was getting ready to head out again to meet the Doctor.
Yang: Jeez Weiss, you're so desperate to be with your boyfriend everyday why not live with him? *smirks*
Weiss: *blushes red* SHUT UP! H-He's not my boyfriend Okay! He's just a really great person and a good friend.
Blake: Keep telling yourself that Weiss but we ALL know you got eyes for him and he may have eyes for you.
Weiss: Grrr, I knew you three weren't ready to join. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna head out.
Ruby: Wait! Where are you even going today with the Doctor?
Weiss: Hmm *thinks* Actually...I don't know. He really didn't tell me anything after we got back.
Yang: I'm still wondering how a whole day in the past was only a little over an hour here.
Ruby: I don't wanna think about that cause it makes me too dizzy.
Weiss: It's all wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff really. You'll learn more as you get going like I am.
Blake: Did you just say...
Yang: Wibbly wobbly...
Ruby: Timey Wimey...
Team RBY: You are in love Weiss!
Weiss blushed more as she kept getting irritated by the teases made by her friends but she won't lie. She's starting to see the Doctor more than just a friend and this was beginning to occur even before getting his memories back. The way he makes her smile and feel like she can be herself not to mention the comfort he brings. Maybe her friends are right but it's still too soon.
Yang: So, are we ready to go?
Weiss: H-Huh? Wait what?
Being distracted obviously kept Weiss mind blocked from noticing that her friends changed and are ready to go which she hoped not since she wanted to spend some alone time with the Doctor.
Weiss: H-Hold on! I said I was going with the Doctor. Besides, you three were already doing your own thing!
Ruby: Yeahhhh but it does get boring.
Yang: Do you think we'll time travel again or go out into space?
Weiss: Actually, I was just thinking right now of maybe taking him to explore around town. He never got the opportunity with him losing his memory then helping you guys save me from the Nightmare Grimm, and going on his adventures in the TARDIS.
Blake: That sounds like a good idea Weiss.
Weiss: Thank you but I'm going with him ALONE! So can you three just-
Right before she can even finish her sentence, the girls speed past her and head off to meetup with the Doctor which disappointed her. It's not that she wants them to be a part of the adventures but she knew she wasn't going to have any solo time with him. After a good walk to the park, the four girls stand in front of the TARDIS as Ruby goes to knock and out comes the Doctor himself.
The Doctor: Ah! Hello Team RWBY, great to see you all again!
Ruby: What do you mean? You just saw us yesterday.
Blake: Ruby, he's a time traveler.
Ruby: Right! Hehe.
The Doctor: So, ready for another trip within the TARDIS!
Weiss: Actually Doctor-
Yang: We were wondering if maybe today, you wanted to take a break and come explore town with us. We can show ya around and look around cool shops.
The Doctor: Hmm, a normal human trip. I guess why not!
The Doctor smiles in return but noticed Weiss's feeling down. By the looks of it, something was bothering her and involved her team. He can probably fix it after they hang out but first, he noticed Ruby trying to peek inside.
The Doctor: Looking for something Ruby?
Ruby: Where's Dalek Khan?
The Doctor: Ah, he's busy in his room fixing up his armor a bit but I think he's just hiding from you since you sure know how to hug him well.
Dalek Khan: I AM NOT HIDING!
Ruby: KHAN! *Speeds to Khan and hugs him*
Dalek Khan: GET OFF ME! IT IS NICE TO SEE YOU RUBY BUT GET OFF!
Ruby: It's just a hug!
Yang: Here we go again. Blake, mind helping me?
Yang and Blake head inside to help the poor Dalek with the young silver eyed huntress while the Doctor walks to Weiss noticing her mood.
The Doctor: Something's bothering you, I can tell.
Weiss: *sighs* But if I say it, it'll make me feel like I don't want them around which isn't true but...
The Doctor: Hey, cheer up. We are gonna have a good time together and maybe if you show me around town like the best tourist, I'll take ya somewhere in return. *smiles*
Weiss: *smiles softly and giggles* There you go again, always making someone smile with such simple words.
The Doctor: That's just how I am. *winks*
The duo come inside just in time to see Ruby separated from Dalek Khan. He doesn't blame her for wanting to hug and be friends with the Dalek however, Khan isn't really the one for hugs or best friends forever type.
Ruby: Ahem! Hello Dalek Khan, I'm Ruby Rose and I want to be your best friend. Sorry for wanting to hug you all the time, you're just an adorable alien robot.
Weiss: This oughta be good.
Dalek Khan: I AM NOT ADORABLE! But, I will ACCEPT Your FRIENDSHIP! ON ONE CONDITION: NO HUGS!
Ruby: DEAL! Ruby and Dalek Khan! Best Friends Forever!
Yang: That did not just happen.
Blake: Your sister is officially friends with the deadliest alien in the universe. Roman may regret trying to target Ruby now.
Weiss: Doctor, is it me or-
The Doctor: Khan, your vocals are improving! You're starting to sound more fluent!
Dalek Khan: CORRECT! It is NOT an easy process, BUT I continue to improve.
The Doctor: That's what matters Khan. Team RWBY wants to take me out and explore the town, you wanna come?
Dalek Khan: Can I?
Ruby: Of course! We got advanced technology around; people will think you're just the Doctor's robot companion.
Dalek Khan: PERHAPS NEXT TIME! I MUST CONTINUE FIXING MY ARMOR!
Ruby: Aww, well what if I stay and help out? I'm really great with weapons!
The Doctor: Actually, he's just actually working on his armor not his weapons.
Ruby: Oh okay...
The Dalek noticed Ruby's down expression. He felt her excitement of spending time with him even though her friends and the Doctor are with her. Khan proceeded to go to her and showed his gun to her.
Dalek Khan: NOT TODAY! BUT I DO NEED WORK ON MODIFYING MY GUN! I WOULD APPRECIATE THE HELP!
Ruby: *gasp and smiles* Absolutely Khan! I'll come in and help!
The Dalek gives Ruby a simple nod with his eyestalk before departing back to its room succeeding in making the youngest member of the team happy.
Blake: That was surprisingly wholesome.
Weiss: You said Daleks are the most hated, cold-blooded killers who want to conquer your universe. Are you sure Khan is a Dalek?
The Doctor: Yes, but after that interaction, I'm unsure...
Yang: WELL! Why not we get a move on and go explore around town!
Ruby: LETS GO!
Team RWBY walked out of the TARDIS followed by the Doctor who looked at the phone box as it was his first time leaving it behind since when he lost his memories. The first time he's the outsider and not the one who knows it all which made him a little nervous until Dalek Khan approached him.
Dalek Khan: You are NERVOUS?
The Doctor: I would be lying if I said I wasn't. I never got to explore this place when I crashed here and been flying around on the TARDIS ever since.
Dalek Khan: DO NOT be Nervous Doctor! I always guard the TARDIS and YOU HAVE TEAM RWBY!
The Doctor: *smiles* You are very much right my Dalek friend. Take good care of her as usual and I'll be back soon.
The Doctor began to catch up to the girls as Dalek Khan closed the door having only one thought in his head.
Dalek Khan: FRIEND...FRIENDS...
Back in the city, Team RWBY has been having their shares of being tour guides to the Doctor showing around the city. While it isn't as amazing like going back in time or out of this world like going into to space, he was still having fun. He did notice Weiss trying to be his personal tour guide for most of the time which gave him a good laugh. It makes him happy that she's changing into a better person and teammate for her friends. It wasn't all just beauty but also her kindness that hypnotizes the Doctor. If only he knew he brings the same trance to Weiss. After a good while of exploring, the gang decided to go out for a bite and went to a nearby buffet.
Yang: Do you even eat Doctor?
The Doctor: Oi! I do!
Yang: Sorry hehe, just still trying to figue out how you're an ali-
Blake: UHHHHH, excellent Doctor! *Glares at Yang*
Weiss: Psst! You can't say that out loud!
Yang: Sorry...
After each of them grabbed what they wanted, they sat down but the time lord was nowhere in sight.
Ruby: We lost him.
Weiss: How do we lose him in a buffet?
The Doctor: I'm right here!
The girls spotted the Doctor with relief but their expressions change to confusion and disgust noticing the Doctor's plate. Rather than having separate items, he put them together. A sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, chicken katsu, bacon, and fries drizzled with 1000 island sauce all together. And he got 3 egg rolls with chocolate syrup.
Weiss: Uh...Doctor? *Covers mouth*
Blake: What is that...
Yang: It looks...alive...Ewugh...
The Doctor: This is my kind of plate. Oh and 3 egg rolls.
The Doctor began to eat as Team RWBY all had mixed thoughts on his meal but mostly disgust. Then again, they all remembered he's an alien that looks human so he would have a different appetite.
The Doctor: I did realize while we were exploring that there's a thing called Vytal Festival coming up.
Yang: Oh yeah! It's a combat tournament where all students from the Huntsman Academies compete and kick ass. Every team, every hunter, and every huntress for themselves! We are gonna be a part of it!
Blake: It's also an actual festival where we get to be with people from other kingdoms and explore the culture, history, and of course having fun.
Weiss: You should take a break from travelling and watch us compete Doctor!
Ruby: YEAH! IT BE AMAZING, YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT!
The Doctor: *chuckles* I don't see why I wouldn't. Seems like a perfect mix of relaxation and excitement.
Weiss: Before the festival, there's an annual dance at Beacon's ballroom that's also coming up. Ahem, maybe you would like to come with me for a bit?
Ruby: I think you mean us Weiss?
Weiss glared at her partner while Blake and Yang couldn't do much but facepalm at Ruby's dense mind. The Doctor thought about it once again, seeing how he's been bonding with Team RWBY ever since arriving to Remnant has meant a lot to him. They've been there most with him and they have been going on adventures as well.
The Doctor: Well-
Sun: Yo guys!
Blake: Sun! Hey!
Ruby: Wassup?
Sun: Nothing much, came to grab a bite before meeting up with my team for training. *Looks at the Doctor* Oh, I didn't realize you had a friend over! Nice to meet ya, I'm Sun Wukong.
The Doctor: *shakes Sun's hand* Nice to meet you as well Sun, I'm the Doctor!
Weiss: Wait for it.
Sun: The Doctor? Doctor...Who?
The Doctor smiles as he enjoys that nickname given around when he is introduced to someone new as Team RWBY giggled at the response of Sun.
The Doctor: Just the Doctor!
Sun: Alllrighty then. Nice accent by the way, are you from the north?
The Doctor: You could say that!
Sun: Oh by the way guys, the teams from other schools began to arrive today so expect a full house at Beacon.
Yang: Looks like it's time to get this party started with a YANG!
Silence came from the rest of the group as they looked confused and disappointed with Yang's puns while she takes it in as one of her best.
Blake: Anyway, thanks for letting us know Sun. You sure you don't wanna join us to eat.
Sun: Thanks, but I'm just gonna grab a quick bite then head out but hey, I'll catch you guys around at Beacon. It was nice knowing you as well Doctor. *Waves and leaves*
The Doctor: Likewise! *smiles* Say Blake? Is Sun also a you know? *Points to her ears*
Blake: O-Oh! Yeah, he's a Faunus like me as well.
The Doctor: Faunus, never understood why have different names if everyone is the same no matter the looks.
Blake: I wish as well. Just thinking back when Nicholas was around and how he kept peace and unity between humans and faunus really makes me miss it.
Weiss: My grandfather may not have been perfect but his heart was very strong and he knew what was right and what was wrong. And now I'm taking that same view he had and learning as well to be better just like he told me. Faunus and Humans are one in the same.
Blake was surprised by this positive outburst by Weiss but smiles at her as Weiss returns the smile. It was a rough start especially when Blake was found to be a Faunus but things are different and both girls especially Weiss are happy with the friendship they are building and hoping to make it better later on.
The Doctor: Good ol' Nicholas Schnee. Should've taken him for a small trip around the TARDIS!
After eating, the group heads out as Team RWBY all want to take the time lord to different places at the same time: Ruby to a weapons shop for Dalek Khan, Blake to the town's library to learn about space and time, Yang to an arcade place nearby but Weiss, she wanted to head back into the TARDIS and go anywhere with the Doctor to relax and enjoy their time. All their thoughts were suddenly interrupted once again when something passed by in a speed of light tackling Ruby to the ground.
Ruby: Aghhhhhh...H-Hi Penny...*groans*
Penny: SALUTATIONS Ruby! *Stands up*
Ruby: Maybe tone it down with the hugs Penny, you sure know how to crush a hug!
Then the realization hit Ruby as she turned around to see her teammates giving a smirk as she realized she did the same thing with Dalek Khan. She was now feeling embarrassed that she pulled a Penny in always hugging the Dalek by surprise.
Penny: I see you are with your team today! Are you preparing for the tournament?
Ruby: Actually, we were just having a day to ourselves and giving a tour to our new friend William.
Penny: I see, Hello William!
The Doctor: Nice to meet ya Penny!
Penny: I have a question, how are you alive with two hearts?
That struck Team RWBY out of the blue while the Doctor was slightly impressed this girl figured out he has two hearts. The girls all looked at each other with panic and confusion as to how Penny found out.
Weiss: Um...Um...
Blake: I-It's not what you think?
Yang: What's all this about two hearts? Hahaha, I have no idea!
Penny: But my sca-
Ruby: OH RIGHT! Ironwood must've told you about William's special condition!
That brought a relief to the three girls as they remembered Ironwood knowing about The Doctor's two hearts and perhaps that's how Penny found out. It wasn't. Penny is not even human but a robot and only Ruby knows of that secret as Penny asked for Ruby's promise not to tell anyone.
Penny: OH! Yes he did! I do hope you're feeling alright William!
The Doctor: Thanks?
Penny: Ruby! If you are not busy, I would like to take you to the park!
Ruby: Aw Penny, that's very nice but-
Weiss: She'll be honored to go Penny. We were actually done but didn't know what to do next.
Ruby: WHAT? WEISS?!
Penny: Splendid! I am so glad we got time for us! And you're gonna enjoy what I have in mind
Weiss: Take all the time you need with her, we'll probably be nearby if she needs anything. Isn't that right Ruby? *smirks*
As chaos was beginning to happen with the three girls as Blake and Yang watched, The Doctor was also watching until a flash of green went by him and sped off into an alleyway nearby. He looked at his friends who were still distracted by Ruby and Penny and proceeded to head into the alleyway as he realized whoever bumped into him, stole his identity badge. Approaching the alleyway, he stood by the wall as he heard two voices and peeked: a silver-haired boy and a mint green haired girl.
Mercury: How many wallets you got?
Emerald: Good enough for 2 weeks! Any word from Cinder?
Mercury: Not yet, she sure is taking her sweet time.
Emerald: As long as everything stays in plan and we don't screw it up, we'll be fine.
Cinder: And right you are Emerald, that is why I always leave you in charge.
The Doctor heard another voice approach the two thieves as he peeked to see a young woman with ashen-black hair wearing dark red, V-neck mini dress with yellow marks.
Cinder: Disappointed however that you keep stealing wallets to waste time. Like usual.
That comment hurt Emerald as she only lowers her head while Cinder takes one of them not knowing it belongs to a certain time lord.
Cinder: It's all coming together and they'll be scratching their heads long after we finished what we came here for. This city will be in dumps and these so-called hunters and huntresses won't be ready. *Opens the wallet and sees nothing* Emerald...why is this one all empty?
Emerald: W-What! I...I didn't know, I just took as much wallets as I could spot!
Mercury: The person owning that could be poor and broke simply.
Cinder was about to give another lesson to the two assistants of hers and that's when the Doctor stepped in.
The Doctor: That would be mine!
The Doctor approached them startling all three as they watched and were ready to finish off this young lad.
Cinder: You're walking into your final minutes of your life. I'd suggest you turn around and pretend you never saw anything if you wish to live.
The Doctor: Or Hello as we used to say. And please, be my guest, point your weapons at me if it helps you relax.
Emerald and Mercury had their weapons ready while Cinder remained calm noticing this wasn't any ordinary pedestrian passing by. He must've heard their conversation which angered her.
The Doctor: You're only human after all.
Cinder: Is that so? If we're humans, then who are you?
The Doctor: Someone you don't want to mess with Cinder Fall.
Cinder: *eyes widen* H-How did you-
The Doctor: It's very easy, nice to meet you as well Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai.
Emerald: W-What?!
Mercury: Grr. He's dead to me- GAH! *falls* M-My legs...
Cinder: What?...
Mercury: T-They're not working...
The Doctor: Temporary Discharge to any weapons. Assuming your prosthetic legs have some kind of gun within them, it's why my screwdriver shut them down and of course jammed Emerald's weapons.
Emerald tried to blasting the Doctor but her weapons were jammed as nothing worked which concerned Cinder now. She moved back with the others as they realize this person is ahead of them as the Doctor picks up his badge.
The Doctor: And it's not a wallet, it's a badge. *Puts it away* I got a couple of minutes to talk before I am needed back.
Cinder: What do you want?
The Doctor: Mercy.
Cinder: Ha! You're too stupid to think we're gonna give it to you.
The Doctor: I'm not asking, I'm offering you three mercy. A chance to run away, leave all this crime behind, start a new life at a new place... But then, you three already carry so much blood in your hands there may not be a place for you.
Cinder: You have no idea what's coming. A storm of the most terrible things ripping through here and that's only the beginning. After we find the maiden powers and the Grimms come through, this world will be hopeless. You may ahead of us here but just know I can still kill you here and now or whenever. Besides, one man can't stop a storm of monsters.
The Doctor: Your chance of mercy is low considering you seem to enjoy it where as these two are only doing your job to stay alive. Isn't that right?
Emerald nor Mercury answered as Cinder readied her weapon to finish the Doctor here and now before making a run for it before anyone sees. He was already getting on her nerves and she wanted to see him scream.
The Doctor: Storm of Monsters huh? And what if when all that happens, it comes to a failure? Then what would you do? What would you tell your master?
That struck a blow to Cinder as the Doctor mentioned her teacher, Salem, as she now knows this man shouldn't be alive to know all this.
The Doctor: I already confronted one of her monsters when one of my friends was in danger. Made sure it goes back to her and give her a fair warning of who I am and what I can do. You say there's a storm coming and guess what, you're right. I am the Oncoming Storm, the man who beats the monsters!
Cinder: Urgh! What are you? A spy? One of Ironwood's best soldiers? Someone close to a Maiden?
Emerald: C-Cinder...we should go...it's him...
Now it all made sense as everything around Cinder froze as she connected the puzzles of this man. It was the man Salem told her and her accomplices about, the man who didn't even flinch nor was scared confronting them. The one that made a Grimm feel fear.
The Doctor: I'm the Doctor! So I strongly advise you to keep out of my way and leave this place. It's a small universe when I know about all of you very well.
The trio stood there frozen as they realized they've been confronting the time lord that has changed everything ever since his arrival, the one all Grimms now fears and if he is still around, Salem's plan will go off rail.
Weiss: Doctor?
Blake: Where you go?
The Doctor was caught off guard by hearing his friends call out to him and noticed them looking for him but when he turns back to confront the trio, they're gone. He truly hopes that they listened to him and never interfere again or else he'll need to come find them, all of them including their big bad. After looking around one more time, the Doctor heads back to reunite with the group except for Ruby.
Weiss: There you are!
Yang: Where you go dude?
The Doctor: Sorry, had to deal with a phone call with Khan.
As much as he hated lying, he knew this would be far too dangerous for them and this is slowly becoming between him and the bad guys.
The Doctor: Where's Ruby?
Blake: She got dragged off by Penny.
The Doctor: She's quite an interesting girl alright.
Yang: Says the time lord with a time travelling machine.
Weiss: I think the better name would be an Odd Gentleman with a Blue Box. *smiles*
The Doctor: Ooo I like that!
While the Doctor continued walking with his friends as they continue their tour around the city, not far from where they were, Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury all regroup on a roof of a building concerned about the encounter with the Doctor.
Mercury: They weren't kidding about him, he really knows us well and that's bad. He's a monster.
Emerald: Not to mention, he jammed our weapons and your legs. He even didn't flinch nor ran when he confronted us. Cinder what do we do?
Cinder was in a dark abyss in her mind, they are so close to preparing for the attack on the city and to find the Fall Maiden. Would the Maiden powers even do any damage to the Doctor? Would she need to bring more Grimms for the attack if he knows they're coming? How would Salem react once she finds out the Doctor confronted the three of them? What if the Doctor actually stops them?
Emerald: Cinder?
Cinder: It's time we catch up with our "friends" and hurry this up. Everything will still succeed...but if the Doctor knows and is ready...we need to think of a new plan to remove him from here...and fast!
