Chapter 11 - Bella

When Jared and I got back to his house we decided to watch a movie before I headed home. After the movie, I got ready to head home. I knew that I couldn't stay too much because then Charlie would get suspicious, especially since I'd only broken up with Edward two days ago and he didn't even know that Edward had asked me to marry him. "I should go." I told Jared.

He pulled me into his side once more. "I wish you didn't have to go." He said.

"Me neither, but Charlie will get suspicious if I don't come home." I told him.

"I get it." He said.

"Thanks. I'll be down tomorrow afternoon. Maybe you can come hang out with me will I work on the journals." I said.

"Sure. Where at?" He asked.

"Uncle Quil's." I told him and he nodded. Jared walked me out to my truck to say one last goodbye.

When I pulled into the driveway, Charlie's cruiser was already there. I climbed out of my truck and made my way inside the house. "Dad?" I called.

"Living room." He said.

I walked into the living room and sat on the couch across from Charlie's recliner. "How was it?" He asked me.

I nodded. "Good. Billy found me a job with Uncle Quil. He wants to take the journals from the ancestors and digitize them. So I'm gonna be doing that." I told him.

"Well that cool." Charlie said.

"Yeah. So, I talked to Uncle Quil about that. I hung out with Jake, Emily and everyone. Um…Edward called." I said.

"Oh yeah."

"Uh huh. He said that he got this amazing job opportunity in Italy so he's moving there and Carlisle got a job opportunity in Canada so the whole family is moving." I told him.

"Well good riddance." Charlie said.

This was different. I'd always thought that Charlie had liked the Cullen's. "What do you mean, Dad?" I asked him.

Charlie shook his head as if trying to clear his thoughts. "I just mean, look at all the hurt that Edward's caused you. There's just something about that family, Bells. They're not normal. Maybe things will go back to normal after they leave." Charlie said.

"Yeah, maybe." I said.

"Bells, what happened?" Charlie asked me. I knew that he was referring to why I'd broken up with Edward.

"It's complicated Dad. Part of it was, I didn't feel the same way about him as I did before he left. Something…changed." I said.

"That tends to happen in relationships." He said.

"But there's more. Somewhere throughout the time that I started spending time with Jake and his friends…I developed feelings for one of them." I told him. That's it…lay the ground work for Jared.

"One of Jake's friends?" Charlie asked confused.

"Yeah. He's sweet though." I said, smiling.

"Well, I look forward to meeting him, someday. Soon?" He asked.

"Yeah. Maybe." I said. "Have you eaten?" I asked changing the subject.

"Yeah. I swung by the diner and grabbed something. Wasn't sure when you'd be home." Charlie said.

"Okay, Dad. Well, I'm gonna head up. I'm tired." I said.

"Sure. Night Bells." Charlie said.

Walking out of the living room, I made my way upstairs and into the bathroom to shower. Standing under the hot water I thought about everything that had happened in the last 48 hours. Victoria was dead. As was her newborn army. Jake got hurt. I broke up with Edward, ending my engagement. Jared imprinted on me. I was finally free from the Volturi.

Stepping out of the shower and wrapping a towel around my body, I realized something. My entire future was with Jared. I rung my hair out over the tub and then ran a brush through it. I made my way to my room, shutting the door behind me. When I turned around, Jared was standing at the window leaning against it. "What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"As soon as I felt you leave the reservation my wolf started going crazy. Sam tried to calm me down, telling me that it was normal. The second I left his house, I phased. The next thing I know I'm outside your house. My wolf had to know that you were okay." Jared said looking down at the floor.

I walked over to him. I lifted his chin up so that he would look at me. "And am I?" I asked him.

His eyes grew dark and there was a yellow ring to them. He grabbed my hips and pulled me closer to him. His face quickly found my hair and he breathed in my scent. After a minute, he took a step back. "You are." He said. I noticed that the yellow was gone.

"You okay now?" I asked him. He nodded. "Let me get dressed, okay?" I said and again he nodded.
