It was normal for Iris to wake up before the sun, whilst it was still dark outside, she just wasn't used to other people being awake at that time as well.

Walking down the stairs quietly and into the only room she actually knew the location of- the dining room- Iris was surprised to see Sirius Black sat at the table with a piece of toast and mug of coffee in front of him, a newspaper with moving images spread out on his lap. "How do the pictures move?" Iris found herself asking as she took the seat opposite the man.

Sirius was surprised to see the girl. Usually he would have been able to tell when somebody entered the room but he supposed she would have been used to being quiet. "It's an enchantment. I think there's a potion you can mix in with the ink as well" Sirius replied. "Are you hungry?" He asked her and she shook her head.

"Is there any more coffee?" Iris asked almost shyly, seconds later a mug sat in front of her. "Do you mind?" She wondered when pulling out a cigarette. "Only I'm assuming you're not going to let me outside to smoke" her sarcastic tone was not lost on him, but Sirius opted to ignore it.

"I'd be a hypocrite if I told you not to smoke, I was at your age" Sirius shrugged. "Just don't let Molly catch you, she'll give us both a lecture" he warned seriously.

The corners of Iris's lips lifted slightly in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of smile. "Yeah, she seems like the type of person who never switches off mum mode" Iris quipped, a small chortle escaping the man opposite. "You were in the news a couple years ago" Iris spoke suddenly. "Said you were a killer" the blunt straight forward way Iris spoke was natural to her, and she didn't ask any follow questions like most would. She didn't need to, it lingered in the air.

"I didn't do it. A man name Peter Pettigrew did. The little coward. I should have killed him, I tried to, but he got away." And then Iris was told the full story. All about how Voldemort (who apparently people didn't like saying the name of) wanted to kill Harry, so the Potters went into hiding and made Peter the secret keeper, whilst telling people it was Sirius as a ruse. Peter then betrayed them and when Sirius hunted him down the rat killed thirteen innocent muggles (which she learnt was a name for non-magic people) and Sirius got the blame. He then told her about how he managed to escape from prison and everybody thought he was after Harry. "Eventually I managed to explain everything to Harry and he decided we should give Peter to the dementors, so we could prove my innocence at the same time. Peter managed to escape before that happened though and I'm still on the run" Sirius finished bitterly.

Iris sat in silence for a while. By this time she had finished her coffee, stolen half of Sirius's toast and was on her second smoke. "I think me and Harry are going to be very different people" Iris finally spoke. It was still odd for her to think she had a brother. A twin no less.

"Why's that?" Sirius wondered.

"Because I would have told you to kill him. Pettigrew I mean. His body would be proof enough you didn't kill him all those years ago, throwing reasonable doubt for the rest of the crimes" Iris shrugged simply.

"Even at thirteen?" Sirius found himself asking her.

Iris thought about her words carefully. "By thirteen, I'd seen a lot of evil in the world. Maybe not evil like Voldemort but things that left me wondering if there was any humanity in the world. So yes, I still would have told you to kill him."

The wanted man and the runaway girl sat in silence for a long time. They didn't need to fill up the air with unnecessary talk. Neither were any good at it. Sirius had been at one point, but small talk was never a skill that Iris had learnt. It wasn't needed.

Their quiet was broken when Molly Weasley burst into the room, smiling brightly at Iris, the smile faltering a little when her gaze turned to Sirius. "Good morning Iris dear. Have you eaten? I was going to rustle something up quickly before the others woke." Mrs Weasley spoke quickly.

"Thanks, but I've already eaten." Iris spoke politely.

"Oh, well. That's good then. I've left some clothes at the end of your bed for you. They're Ginny's and she's a little taller than you but I can always fix what doesn't fit right" Mrs Weasley told her, earning another thanks before the teenager made a hasty exit.

Iris stayed in her room for hours. She had never had a room to herself before and it was something to get used to. It was when laughter filled the air from downstairs she got curious and emerged. She found herself in a living room where several of the people from before were. The Weasley twins, Ron, Ginny and Hermione were there along with Sirius, and Remus. They were playing a game of chess except the pieces moves and talked and destroyed each other when they got taken. Iris felt her green eyes widen in shock when witnessing it for the first time.

She didn't motion to join them, stood on the outside but the fact she was there was enough. Iris noticed eyes glancing at her every now and again, saw the small smile on Sirius and Remus's face. They thought she was making an effort. In truth Iris just hated being bored.

The scrawny fifteen year old managed an entire hour in the company of others before slinking away, going to her room and opening her window so she could let out the smoke she was exhaling. "You best hope my mum doesn't catch you" A cheerful voice warned from behind. Turning around she saw one of the twins stood staring at her. "Course, of all of us that can get away with it it's probably you, but she'll still offer a lecture" he grinned carelessly.

Iris raised an eyebrow at the lanky boy, looking him up and down "Guessing you've listened to many of those lectures?" she assumed, taking another drag and offering him the lit cigarette which he turned down.

"Once or twice. Anyway, speaking of the woman, she asked me to ask you if you'll be joining us for dinner or if you want to eat in your room… well technically she asked Fred but she was looking at me. Seventeen years and she still can't get it right" the boy sighed dramatically and shook his head but winked at her to show he wasn't mad. Iris decided she didn't mind him, he was treating her normally, not carefully. Didn't look at her with pity or like she was about to knife them as the others did. "I'm George by the way" he introduced finally, bowing lowly with a grin "At your service".

Iris put out her cigarette and flicked it out the window before drinking some water to try and get rid of the smell on her breath- not that it would help much- "Iris" she replied, as if he didn't already know. Standing and walking towards him she crossed her arms expectantly "Well lead the way," she scoffed and George's grin widened.

"As you wish mi'lady"
