Jack's Evil Scheme

J arrives at Ansem's office again and sees the blond haired man sitting on the couch just staring at the gound not moving even when J approaches.

'Huh? I don't think he's noticed me standing here.' J thinks concerned 'Maybe I should…clear my throat kind of.' She then loudly clears her throat.

"Holy Heartless!" Ansem said jumping and looks up sees J "Oh! It's you!"

"What's wrong? You looked so pensive…. Like an old man at the end of his days." J said to him.

"Hmmm? I'm not senile yet!" Ansem told her. "I was just thinking about this whole mess…"

'Something's really bothering him, that much is obvious.' J thinks, she then asked "So you came to see the trial?"

"Yes, yes I did." Ansem said nodding "Something was bothering me all last night, you see, couldn't get a wink of sleep."

"Really? What was that?" J asked him.

"Well, you see, it's just…Terra's brother, that poor boy." Ansem said sighing and looks at J "My girl, I owe you my thanks, truly. I don't know what I would have done if things had gone poorly for the girl."

"I asked before, but, why did you refuse his request for defense?" J asked him. "I think by now I have a right to know."

"A right, Miss. J?" Ansem said "No, no, I'm sorry. It's just, I need more time to think about it, my girl."

J looks at him and thinks 'He does seem troubled about something…I'm starting to have a feeling I know what it is.' She then said "So, I paid Hyperion Info Gathering HQ a visit."

"Oh? Oh, I see." Ansem said to that.

"Mr. Ansem…I have to admit, something has been bothering me." J told him.

"Oh? What is it? Well, out with it, my girl!" Ansem asked her.

"You see, it's just…Mr. Ansem, sir…There was a giant painting hanging right there the other day, was there not?" J said pointing to the sport the painting once was. "The one you said you had 'no intention of parting with'? Well, I saw it. Today. It was in the CEO's office at Hyperion Info Gathering HQ. Handsome Jack's office."

Ansem remained quiet then said "So… you noticed. I suppose I should have guessed you would. It is a large painting…"

"Mr. Ansem, I know you and Mr. Jack are connected somehow!" J told him.

"C-connected, you say?" Ansem asked.

"Yes! And I know what it is…Mr. Jack has something on you doesn't he? Blackmail?" J said to him and Ansem looks at her worried "I think that painting is fairly gaudy proof."

Ansem remains quite and said "Very well. This may be the chance I've been waiting for. Maybe it's time to get this off my chest, so I can finally rest easy again. After all, you were Terra's understudy. Perhaps it was fate?"

'What's he talking about…?' J thinks confused

Ansem gives J some oil and pours himself some tea and sips it before he began "Handsome Jack is a man who makes his living though intimidation. Hyperion was already a weapon manufacture but when Jack opened up the information gathering sub-division it excel's in finding people's weaknesses, I'm afraid." Ansem sighs and adds "I've been paying them for 15 years now…"

'15 years….!' J thought shocked

"All because of the 'DL-6 Incident,' as you may have guessed." Ansem continued to explain.

'The name on the back of those photographs!' J thinks remembering that fact.

"As you suspected, I could not stand in defence of Jaden because of this." Ansem continued sadly. "Jack would have destroyed me if I did."

'So that's the connection!' J thinks.

"It is hard for me to tell you this, my girl. But arresting Handsome Jack will be nigh on impossible." Ansem told her.

"Impossible? Why?!" J said in shock.

"He has information on everyone. It gives him an iron grip!" Ansem explained sadly. "He owns judges, attorneys, prosecutors, police troopers… and politicians."

"What?!" J asked in shocked, how can one man have that much influence and power.

"They are bound, unable to do harm to themselves, and therefore, to him." Ansem said sighing. "Don't look at me like that. What you see is nothing more than the weight of many years."

"What is the 'DL-6 Incident'?" J asked him and sips her oil.

"'DL-6' is nothing more that the sorting code the police troopers gave the case." Ansem explained and sips his tea before continued "It was 15 years ago now…I received a request from a warrior. A Keyblade warrior."

'A Keyblade warrior…?' J thinks on that.

"His name was Eraqus Yuki." Ansem told him.

'Yuki!' J thought surprised.

"Indeed. He was Terra's mother." Ansem said nodding. "He has been investing a murder at the bequest of the police troopers. And…. he failed. As a result, the police troopers called him a fraud."

'This is what Jaden was talking about the other day!' J thinks on it.

"I did all I could for him, and in the end, cleared him of wrongdoing." Ansem continued sighing "The murder case, however, remains unsolved to this day. That case, is the DL-6 Incident."

J was shocked then asked, "But why were you blackmailed over this, Mr. Ansem?"

"The DL6 Incident was top-secret at the time." Ansem explained "It made sense. The police troopers didn't want people to know they were using a Keyblade wielder! They couldn't let people know. But one person found out." He then looks down ashamed "I… I told him."

"You told Jack?" J asked shocked.

"He offered me riches…. It is an embarrassment to me now." Ansem said sadly. "Because I talked, the police troopers were mocked far and wide. In secret, they began looking for the one who sold them out. Of course, Jack heard about it, and he came to me. Only this time, the offer was blackmail."

J looks in shock at Ansem and realized what that was and said, "I see."

Ansem sighs and said "Jack controls the law of this country as he sees fit. Yet if you would still challenge him…Have a close look at Terra's office."

"Terra's office…?" J asked confused.

"He follows his every move for years." Ansem explained "He may have recorded something of what he found."

"Right I will check it" J said nodding and finishes her oil. She then leaves back to Terra's office.

J walks into the office and looks around "It's funny, looking at this room, it seems… so normal. Hard to imagine a murder took place here. Mr. Ansem said there would be clues…Perhaps I should have another look."

J looks around and looks at the file cabinet behind Terra's desk "All the case the boss ever worked on are filed here. They're in alphabetical order. Let's take a look…" She starts with files A-I. "Let's see if there's 'A' record in this file that catches my 'I.'"

"A…B…E! Eraques Yuki. That's Terra and Jaden's father." J said getting the file and reads it

"'I have tarnished the Yuki name' Leaving only these words, my father vanished." Terra's writings said "I was determined to find the ones who had made my father blame himself in this way. Using the power that runs in my family, I held an audience with the dead."

"Finally, the names of two men surfaced." The file continued "One was Ansem the Wise a lawyer who sold my father's information for riches. The other was the man who sold that information to the press. This parasite, who makes his fortune on threats and coercion…His name is…"

"Hmmm. The record stops there." J said to that and ponders this "So Terra knew Ansem…" J decided to check the S-Z section this time. "Let's see…'S' through 'Z'…Nothing much in here. I'll just skim though. No harm in flipping though a bit, I guess…" She flips through them.

"The biggest part's here at the start in 'S'…. 'Suicide'? Ewww…" J said to that "He has a collection of suicide reports. There's politicians… police troopers…" J stops and thinks at this and her LED eyes widen seeing something "There's writing on most of these in pencil. 'Jack'…? This is Terra's handwriting."

"Hang on, I get it! Terra thought he was involved in these 'suicides'!" J said thinking "Jack drove them all to…I can use these newspaper clippings. Hmmm…let's find the most disturning one…" She checks and takes one about a politician's suicide and adds it to the Court Record.

J decides to check the files one last time, this time J-R "Let's see…I know 'J'! 'Jack'!" She looks and is shocked "The entire 'J' section is missing! Was it taken…?"

Only one person came to mind on who took it and went back to Hyperion.

J enters into Jack's office again and the CEO was still there, upon seeing her Jack smirks and said "Well, aren't you persistent."

"Sorry, but there's something I have to ask you." J said to him.

"Miss. Lawyer, I do hate having to repeat myself…" Jack said standing up "But it seems the message has not yet penetrated your thick robotic skull… Stop bothering me! If you try my patience further, I fear a nasty accident may occur." Jack said as some Loader bots emerge into the room. "Do I make myself clear?"

'Transparent…' J thinks at that 'I know talking will lead to nothing, I just hit him with the one thing he can't refute.' She pulls out the newspaper clipping 'This is the only clue that Terra left me…I'd better make this one count!'

"Mr. Jack… see this?" J said showing him the newspaper clipping "It's an article describing the suicide of a politician." Jack just looks at it "He was embezzling secret government funds. Then, one day, word got leaked to the press. The very next day he took his own life."

"And why should I care about this…?" Jack asked shrugging.

"I found this article in Terra's office." J explained.

"Mr. Terra…?" Jack asked.

"He had a file filled with articles like this." J told him. "Every one of them was labelled with a single word… 'Jack.'" Jack took note of that "Mr. Jack, I know what you did to this politician. You were blackmailing him!"

"Blackmail?" Jack asked simply.

"Not just him, either." J continued "You were threatening and coercing hundreds of others! You were involved in all of the suicide cases that Terra investigated! This sub-division of your company is built on blackmail! I'm right, aren't I?"

"What a bizarre accusation." Jack said smiling "Miss. F…What is it that you should be doing now? Investigating me? No, no, no. That's not right! You should be searching for the one who killed Mr. Terra!"

Jack nods to one of his loader bots who presses a button on the interphone and a voice said "Secretary's Office, hello?"

"Miss. F will be leaving now." Jack said over his shoulder.

"Yes, sir. I'll send someone right away." The secretary said.

"Wait a second, Mr. Jack...You're wrong, Mr. Jack." J said glaring at him.

"Care to repeat that?" Jack asked her.

"What I should be doing now is going after you!" J said firmly.

"Just what are you yapping about?" Jack asked arms folded.

"Terra was on to you. He was keeping tabs." J explained. "For this reason, you had Kitten Walker tapping his phone. Then, Terra was murdered, and all the documents about you mysteriously disappeared. So, the culprit would be…" Jack stares and J said "Even, a child could work it out, Mr. Jack. You did it!"

Jack shakes his head and snaps his finger and the Loader Bot hits the interphone button again. The voice said "Secretary's office."

"We won't be needing an escort for Miss. F." Jack said smirking "Instead, please connect me to the public prosecutor's office."

"Of course, sir. One moment please…" The secretary said and a moment of silence until another voice said "Jack? That you? What are you doing calling me at a time like this?!"

"Hello. Chief Prosecutor?" Jack said with a grin. "I've changed my mind. I want to testify tomorrow."

"What this about?" The Chief Prosecutor asked.

"The Terra Yuki case. I witnessed the murder, you see." Jack said with a shrug. "And, thus, as a very important witness, I would like to testify."

"What? Why now? I thought you said you didn't want to go to court?" The Chief Prosecutor said confused.

"Pipe down…! I told you I changed my mind, didn't I?" Jack said firmly "Oh, and one other thing. Send the police troopers over here right away. The drone is standing right in front of me. She looks dazed but could be violent!"

"What? What drone?" The Chief Prosecutor asked confused.

"Are you even listening?" Jack asked smirking "The executioner! The hatchet-drone! The liquidator…. The killer, bot!"

"What?!" J asked shocked, was he doing what she thinks he's doing.

"Mr. Jack… this isn't another one of those…" The Chief Prosecutor began to say.

"Chief Prosecutor. I do not believe you are in a position to freely offer your opinions to me, correct? Not if you want the facts of a certain case involving you leaked" Jack said grinning "I'm telling you to send the police troopers, now!" The phone is hung up. Jack looks to J and smirks as he said "Did I not tell you, Miss. F? You are a mere lawyer! As was Mr. Terra."

"How dare you!" J said angered.

"I'll point the finger at you, and you will be tried as Mr. Terra's killer!" Jack monologues explaining his plan. "The case is as good as settled. No lawyer of any worth will defend you. I have friends in the local lawyer's association, you see. You'll be given a lawyer so stupidly inept that they make even you look competent."

'I…. I feel faint.' J thinks worried

Just then the door burst open and they look to see N coming in and he said saluting "Detective N, reporting, sir!" He sees J "Aaa! Wheeler! Tony Wheeler!"

"J, it is Serial Designation J. And my friend's name is 'Joey'…" J said sighing.

"Oh right! Sorry, buddy. Wheeler was that murderer, right?" N said chuckling.

"Detective N." Jack said arms folded and motions to J "I present to you, the drone who killed Mr. Terra Yuki!"

"W-what?!" N said in shock.

"Take this despicable drone into custody." Jack told him. He then smirks looking at J and said "Sayonara, Miss. F!"

J was still in shock as N cuffs her and leads her out of the office.

September 8, 3:37 PM, Detention Center, Visitor's Room

J in her mental world as she sat on the chair said "I can't believe it's only been a day since the first trial. My trial begins tomorrow. Jack's going to set a trap for me. And the prosecution will be in on it, of course. Hunter, included." J sighs as she keeps writing "An attorney was assigned to me by the state, yesterday. I refused. I had an idea."

Just then she hears a male voice say "J! Miss. J!"

She is snapped out of her own thoughts and looks up to see his visitor was Jaden who looks at her sadly "Oh, Jaden! Great, they let you out of detention." J said smiling.

"Just now, yes. It's all thanks to you!" Jaden said smiling.

"Heh. Now I'm afraid we've only switched places." J said to him.

"What? You mean, you…?" Jaden said tearing up.

J in her mental world writes out and said "I explained what had happened to Jaden."

"I don't believe it!" Jaden said sadly after he heard the whole story. "How many people does that man need to destroy before he's satisfied?! My father…My brother…And now you!" He got angry and slams his hands on the counter saying "This has gone too far! Miss. J, please tell me, is there anything I can do?"

"Um… well…" J said and thinks and gets a jokey idea "Right. Okay, listen up. I want you to help me break out of here!"

"You mean… a jail break?" Jaden asked her.

"Yeah. Tonight's our only chance!" J said nodding smiling.

"Alright!" Jaden said determined.

"Huh?" J said confused.

"Oh, I'd better go get a hacksaw while the stores are still open." Jaden said thinking. "Oh, oh! And a rope ladder, and a getaway car! Can you drive?" He leaves.

J overcomes her shock and said "W-wait. Wait, wait, wait."

"What, what, what?" Jaden asked coming back.

"I'm kidding! It was a joke!" J told him.

"No way!" Jaden said in shock.

"No really, I was kidding." J said and smiles "But thanks. It's good to know you're on my side." She then thinks 'Plus there really isn't anything you can do for me anyway…'

"But… but I can't just sit here and do nothing!" Jaden told her. "I've got to give that man a piece of my mind!"

'Only a piece…?' J thought on that. She then said "Okay. Then, come to the trial tomorrow."

"O-okay! I'll be there!" Jaden said with a smile. "I'll show them a thing or two!"

J goes back into her mental world as she says "Time may change, yet with crime it's the same old story. In fact, it's gotten worse. Lengthy court proceedings are no long realistic."

"Beginning a few years ago, a limit of three days was put on initial court trials." J explained "Almost all finish in a day. Most with a guilty verdict. I never thought I would end up in the defendants chair myself for this case."

J then mentally things of Handsome Jack and his smug smiling face and glares "With the true culprit appearing as the star witness. This is it! Tomorrow it's me or him!"

J was right tomorrow will be the final battle between her and Jack, it was also J's way of helping get revenge on the man who caused the Yuki family so much pain. Tomorrow will be a long trial.

The final trial for this case approaches, J has one chance to prove her innocence and expose Handsome Jack. Will she succeed?
