Chapter 2: Making Brand New Encounters! Passing Through Oldale Town!
Upon leaving the town's market, the party decided to make a quick stop at Professor Birch's lab. This was mostly due to Michael wanting to have Professor Birch sign him up for the Hoenn League.
Michael - "Hello? Professor Birch? You here?"
Professor Birch then came out of his lab to see who was calling for him.
Professor Birch - "Oh hello Michael, girls. Thanks for stopping by my lab."
Weiss - "Not at all Professor Birch. So how have things been going for you?"
Professor Birch - "Not bad so far. A young man from here in Littleroot Town just started his journey to take on the Hoenn League a few days ago."
Ruby - "What's his name?"
Professor Birch - "Brendan. He picked Treecko."
Clair - "So where's he right now?"
Professor Birch - "Last I heard of, he should be in Slateport City."
Michael - "Arceus. That's a good distance already."
Professor Birch - "Agreed. Anyway. Let me get you registered for the Hoenn League before I forget Michael."
Michael - "Thanks Professor Birch. Also, could you contact Professor Rowan for me."
Professor Birch - "What for?"
Buneary then made her presence known.
Buneary - "Hello!"
Professor Birch - "Oh wow a Buneary!"
Professor Birch then quickly contacted Professor Rowan.
Professor Rowan - "Hello Professor Birch, Michael. May I ask what this call is for?"
Professor Rowan then noticed Buneary.
Professor Rowan - "Oh my. May I ask how you came across this Buneary Michael?"
Michael - "Sure thing Professor Rowan."
Michael then quickly explained how he came across Buneary. Buneary also shared her side of the story. How she mostly escaped being captured by poachers in Sinnoh's Eterna Forest, then snuck aboard a ship and made her way to Hoenn, where she arrived in Littleroot Town only a week ago. She then explained how the Thug Trainer started being mean to her, which caused things to escalate into what happened today.
Michael - "That's quite an ordeal to get out of."
Professor Rowan - "Agreed. But you can be safe assured that Michael's the best Trainer to catch you Buneary."
Buneary - "I'm already aware of that Professor Rowan. I know Michael's the right Trainer for me."
Professor Rowan - "That's good to hear. I'm looking forward to hear on her progress when you update me, Birch, and the others in Rustboro City."
Michael - "Can do Professor Rowan."
Professor Rowan then ended the call, followed by Professor Birch walking back over and returning Michael his PokéDex.
Professor Birch - "Here you go Michael. You're registered for the Hoenn League."
Michael - "Thanks Professor Birch. You need anything?"
Professor Birch - "No I'm fine. You and the girls just take care on your journey."
Ruby - "We will Professor. You take care."
Professor Birch - "Bye."
Michael and the girls then left Professor Birch's lab and exited the town to the north. On Route 101, Michael caught a Poochyena, Hoennian Zigzagoon, and a pair of Wurmple.
Weiss - "Why did you get two Wurmple's?"
Ruby - "Branch evolution?"
Michael - "Hit the nail on the head Ruby."
Clair - "She did?"
Michael - "Yes. You guys can get a clearer answer from Fluttershy when we meet up with her later, but Wurmple is one of a few Bug-Types to have branching evolutions."
Ruby - "Who are the others?"
Michael - "Well first off Wurmple here can evolve into either Silcoon or Cascoon, which both then respectfully evolve into Beautifly and Dustox. Then you have Nincada branching into Ninjask and Shedinja. However, many believe that Shedinja is just the discarded shell upon Nincada evolving. Hence why you need an open party space, and a Poké Ball, for it. And finally, you have Burmy in Sinnoh evolving into Mothin if it's male, or Wormradian if it's female."
Weiss - "Sucks there aren't more."
Michael - "Well like I said. Fluttershy should be able to give us a better answer when we meet up with her. Speaking of Fluttershy, where's she and the others at around Hoenn?"
Clair - "Fluttershy, along with Rainbow, Yang, and Iono are in Mauville City. Pinkie, Bae, and Whitney are in Petalburg City, which we'll be passing through on the way to Rustboro City. Speaking of Rustboro City, Rarity's there. Applejack and Bea are in Dewford Town. Kiara, Calli, Irys, and Blake are in Lavaridge Town. Kronii, Sana, Twilight, and Sabrina are in Mossdeep City. And finally, Ina, Gura, and Ame are in Sootopolis City."
Michael - "Man. Talk about being spread out."
Ruby - "True. But it'll be a journey to reunite with everyone."
Weiss - "Ruby's not wrong. Now what say we keep on moving."
Michael - "Good idea."
After making quick progress on Route 101, the party arrived in Oldale Town.
Michael - "What do you girls think? Stop here for an early lunch? Or wait until we reach Petalburg City?"
Ruby - "I don't mind waiting till we reach Petalburg City."
Weiss/Clair - "Same."
Michael - "Alright then."
The party first made a quick trip to Route 103, looking to see what new Pokémon they could find. All they found was a Wingull and a Wailmer (through fishing), both of which Michael caught and sent home. Then they quickly went back through Oldale Twon to reach Route 102. On Route 102, Michael caught a Corphish (through fishing), Seedot, Lotad, and Surskit, all of which he sent home.
Ruby - "What's that over there?"
Michael, Weiss, and Clair looked towards where Ruby was pointing. There they saw a group of rowdy Trainers picking on a trio of baby Pokémon. Michael then used his aura sight to get a closer look at the trio of Pokémon.
Michael - "A pair of Ralts AND a Hatenna?! Better take care of these thugs then."
Michael's aura sight also told him that the one Ralts was male, while the other Ralts and Hatenna were both female. He then used his psychic powers to send the rowdy group flying away.
Michael - "Those punks are gone now."
The Psychic-Type trio then looked around to see that their attackers were truly gone. Michael walked over and stopped a few feet away, slowly crouching in front of the trio. The male Ralts then spoke up.
Ralts (M) - "Thank you for saving us mister."
Michael - "Not at all little one. Now, do you know where your parents are?"
Ralts (F) - "Sadly, no we don't. Those jerk wads forcefully separated us from them."
Michael then suddenly jumped back as he dodged a psychic attack launched at him. The smoke cleared to show an adult Gardevoir standing in front of the baby trio.
Gardevoir - "That's far enough human."
Ralts (M)/Ralts (F)/Hatenna - "Mother!"
Michael watched as the child trio surrounded their mom. He then slowly turned around and started walking back towards the others. Gardevoir noticed Michael walking away.
Gardevoir - "You aren't gonna fight then?"
Michael - "I just solely wanted to return your kids to you. And you saved us the hassle of looking by coming to us anyway. So my work here is done."
Michael went to continue walking towards the girls when Gardevoir suddenly spoke.
Gardevoir - "Wait."
Michael stopped and turned back to face Gardevoir.
Michael - "You need something ma'am?"
Gardevoir - "I'm part of a clan of Gardevoir and Gallade that live in this forest. There's a rule that when the kids are old enough, they're allowed to leave the forest and find their Trainer. Times their search isn't successful."
Michael - "Let me guess. You want me to be your kids Trainer?"
Gardevoir - "Yes please."
Michael crouched on the ground and took off his backpack, then took out three Ultra Balls.
Michael - "I'd be more than happy to be their Trainer. BUT! I want it to be their choice too."
Gardevoir - "What do you mean?"
Michael - "Some of the Pokémon I have with me I gave the choice of them joining me or not."
Gardevoir - "I'm guessing they all said yes."
Michael - "Of course. But I still gave them the option to choose."
Gardevoir - "Why would you do that?"
Michael - "Cause I care about their opinion. Most Trainers don't see it, but when they make a decision involving their Pokémon, they HAVE to take their Pokémon's feelings into account as well. That's why I always give them the choice on the major decisions, such as being caught and evolving."
Gardevoir - "I see..."
Gardevoir then squatted down and looked at her three children.
Gardevoir - "Like the young man said you three. Whatever decision you make, we'll both 100% support it."
However, the trio had already made their decision, giving their mother one final hug, then walking out together towards Michael. They then each stood in front of an Ultra Ball and tapped the button, getting sucked into the ball.
One shake.
Two shakes.
Three shakes.

Michael then walked over and slowly picked up the three Ultra Balls.
Michael - "Alright! I just caught a pair of Ralts and a Hatenna!"
Michael then brought the trio back out to truly say goodbye to their mother.
Gardevoir - "Thank you young Michael. Please take good care of them."
Michael - "Yes Lady Gardevoir."
Michael and Gardevoir then bowed to each other before Gardevoir returned into the forest. Michael then returned to the girls as they continued their way to Petalburg City.
