Chapter 15: A Massive Forced Walk Around! Team Magma Blocks The Route To Lavaridge Town!
As the party left the Winstrate household, they made a quick stop near the lake that wrapped around the backend of the house. There Michael and Pinkie both caught a Barboach. Pinkie kept hers while Michael sent his home.
Michael - "Congrats Pinkie. You now have all three of your team's Type weaknesses covered."
Pinkie - "True. But I'm still trying to figure out a third Water-Type to add."
Michael - "You aren't gonna go with Vaporeon?"
Pinkie - "Sadly no. I like Vaporeon. But I'm trying to pick a better one to fill her."
Michael - "Anyone else got any changes they want to make?"
A few of the girls were hesitant to raise their hands.
Michael - "How about this then. I'll ask again when we meet up with Blake. I'm sure she's got a team change or two as well. That sound ok to you girls?"
Girls - "Yes."
Soon the party continued on their way. After a bit of walking, they came to where Route 111 crosses the desert.
Ruby - "Are we going that way Michael?"
Michael - "No Ruby. For now, we're gonna head west along Route 112 here."
Weiss - "Wait. Why can't we just cut right through the desert?"
Michael - "I'll admit we could. But it's also better to make our current supplies last until we reach the next town. Cutting through the desert would surely make us go through a good amount of the supplies we currently have."
Rarity - "To be honest, Michael's not wrong. Times taking the long, and safer, way around would help us on saving our supplies in the long run."
Clair - "Guess we have no choice then."
As the party made their way along Route 112, Michael caught a Numel and sent it home. Then as they got back on the path, there was a commotion above them.
? - "Incoming!"
The party looked up to see five familiar females falling towards them. Michael then suddenly used his aura to push the others out of the way as he caught the quintet. Sadly, the combined weight of the girls made him lose his footing and fall to the ground, with the girls falling on top of him.
Ruby - "Hey Blake. Nice to see that you, Calli, Irys, and Kiara are ok."
Clair - "Same to you Flannery."
Weiss - "Although perhaps you four can get off of Michael now."
Blake, Calli, Flannery, and Kiara looked down to see that they had landed on top of Michael and quickly got off of him.
Calli - "Sorry Michael."
Michael slowly stood up and stretched.
Michael - "Don't worry about it. At least I broke your fall."
Rarity - "I'm guessing you girls falling from the sky means Team Magma has kicked you all out of Lavaridge Town for the time being?"
Flannery - "Sadly, yes. We have been."
Bea - "Are your grandfather and Blaine ok?"
Michael - "Blaine's here?"
Kiara - "He is. I guess you're met Brock and Lt. Surge already?"
Pinkie - "Brock no. But we did see Lt. Surge in Mauville City."
Calli - "That's good at least."
Michael - "By the way Blake. Fluttershy wanted to ask you something."
Blake - "Ok then. What did you want to ask me Fluttershy?"
Fluttershy - "I've made my decision on Skuntank. I'll use one if you're ok with it."
Blake - "I'm 100% ok with it. But there's also another option in Drapion.
Fluttershy - "Crap. I completely forgot about Drapion."
Michael - "Well the good thing is both can be caught as Stunky and Skourpi, then trained up, in Sinnoh. So which one are you gonna choose then?"
Fluttershy thought for a second, then finally came to a decision.
Fluttershy - "I'll go with Drapion then."
Michael - "Alright then. Anyone else with a change to their Final Teams?"
Blake - "I do actually."
Michael - "What's the change then Blake?"
Blake - "Rarity. Mind if I take Krookodile?"
Rarity - "Not at all, Blake darling. I think Krookodile will do better for you anyway. Speaking of which. AJ dear. May I take Camerupt?"
AppleJack - "All yours sugarcube. Camerupt should help you out with Grass and Ice weaknesses."
Rarity - "Thank you. And I'll add a Crustle when we reach Unova."
Michael quickly wrote down all the new changes the girls made to their teams.
Michael - "Anyone else before we start our way to Falalbor Town?"
Rainbow - "I have a couple."
Michael - "You do Rainbow?"
Rainbow - "Yes. First. Yang. Mind if I get Altaria?"
Yang - "Sure. But why do you want Altaria?"
Michael - "I can see why. Since Yang already has a Salamence, and the fact that neither of you chose Dragonite, along with the fact that I'm the only one getting Lady Rayquaza, it makes sense that Rainbow gets Altaria. What's your other change Rainbow?"
Rainbow - "Talonflame. I know I have to wait till we reach Kalos. But it'll be so worth it."
Michael - "Alright then. Now that I think about it. I think I'll make two different Dragon-Type teams. One physical and the other special."
Yang - "Why would you do that?"
Michael - "Oh you'd be surprised at how often one Type used physical OR special attacks more often."
Weiss - "Michael's not wrong Yang. In fact, all four of the dragons you have on you are physical attackers, while his Flygon and Rainbow's soon to be Altaria are both special attackers."
Yang - "That does make sense."
Michael - "Anyway. If there's no more changes, then let's get moving."
Michael finished writing down the changes. Then he and the party made their way to the cable car that would take them to Mt. Chimney. Sadly, they were stopped in their tracks due to a pair of Team Magma grunts blocking the way.
Ruby - "So now what do we do?"
Michael quickly had a plan.
Michael - "Sceptile, Serperior, Greninja."
The three starters came out of their Poké Balls.
Greninja - "What do you need us for Michael?"
Michael - "Any chance the three of you can sneak up on that pair of Team Magma grunts WITHOUT being seen and listen in on their conversation?"
Serperior - "Leave it to us."
Michael - "Ok. But just be careful and take it slow."
Sceptile - "Right."
The party silently watched as Greninja and the Grass Starter duo quietly sped into the trees that were around the Team Magma Grunt duo. After a few minutes, they finally returned.
Michael - "Well?"
Sceptile - "According to the grunts, their leader Maxie plans to awaken "That thing."
Michael - "They're most likely talking about Lord Groudon. Anyway continue."
Serperior - "But there's a problem."
Michael - "A problem?"
Greninja - "They need a meteorite to do it. So Maxie's taken some grunts to Fallabor Town to look for it."
Michael - "I see. Well then girls. I sure we all know what needs to be done here."
Pinkie - "Head to Fallabor Town and stop Team Magma?"
Michael - "Of course. Now let's move!"
Girls - "Right!"
With that, the party headed for the Firey Path, which according to Roxanne, Flannery, and Kiara, was a direct path UNDER Mt. Chimney. The party quickly rushed through the path to avoid the heat, where Michael quickly caught a Torkoal and sent it home.
Weiss - "Surprised you were able to catch a Torkoal despite the heat."
Michael - "Same here."
Flannery - "There's a rest house to the northeast from here. We can stop there and take a break."
Michael - "You girls wanna have lunch at the rest house? Or wait till we arrive at Fallabor Town?"
Roxanne - "I'm willing to wait till we reach Fallabor Town."
The rest of the girls backed Roxanne's vote. An old lady kindly greeted the party and let them rest in her house for as long as they wanted. After taking a deserved power nap, the party and their Pokémon were fully rested.
Ruby - "So how do we get to Fallabor Town from here?"
Michael - "Simple. We just get back on the main path and go west."
Bae - "Sounds simple enough."
A few moments later, the party finally left Route 111 for the time being and walked onto Route 113. Ruby then noticed the different coloring of the grass and ground.
Bea - "What's up with the ground and plant life here?"
Michael - "Volcanic ash?"
Flannery - "Yep."
Rarity - "What do you two mean by that?"
Kiara - "See the top of the mountain to our south?"
Bae - "That's..."
Calli - "Yes. Mt. Chimney."
Irys - "And because of the way the winds blow, the ash it spews is forced over here."
Michael - "Thankfully as long as we keep on moving, the ash WON'T have an impact on our health."
The party soon resumed moving so they didn't have to breathe in too much of the volcanic ash. Along the way, Michael caught and sent home a Spinda. And finally, after what seemed like forever, the party finally arrived in Fallabor Town.
