After driving for a while, Ava parked her car before taking her equipment and helping her father take Valentina so she won't get lost in the huge crowd at Main Street. So Owen had the good idea to carry his niece on his shoulders while Owen's daughter kept an eye on Valentina, who was excited and in awe upon seeing the sight of the huge crowd. And people were either going to shops, coming in and out of the Visitor Center, eating at restaurants or looking at exhibits. Knowing Valentina must be hungry after her strange encounter with the Utahraptors, Ava and her father went into the restaurant after telling the toddler they needed to eat before visiting anything. The trio sat down before Ava ordered a blueberry milkshakes and a veggie burger for her cousin plus some fries, two cheeseburgers, three slices of apple pies and two cups of coffee. They happily ate their meal as Ava and her father were thinking of the attitude of the four Utahraptor around Valentina and the toddler's lack of scare. After their lunch, they went on their first tour of the park.
And the first stop was the Gentle Giant Petting Zoo, an exhibit popular with children aged from 3 to 7 years old, which Ava thought as a baby game since the teenager was a video game nerd. Sitting on her uncle's shoulders, Valentina saw juvenile Triceratops, Gallimimus and Apatosaurus and was excited and impatient to see the baby dinosaurs up close as other small children did. And the toddler absolutely wanted to see these baby dinosaurs up close while Ava was more suspicious and readied her M4A1 assault rifle should something go haywire.
Valentina then pleaded bouncing up and down, "Can I go Uncwe Owen? Can I? Can I?"
Owen chuckled while holding on to his niece to prevent her from falling, "Alright, alright. But let's make sure you won't be taken hostage by dinosaurs again." Owen said remembering Valentina was released only due to Ava's intervention preventing the four Utahraptors from taking the toddler all to themselves.
Owen and Valentina entered the petting zoo while Ava stood guard. Owen put his niece down before going to an employee named Archie while his niece ran towards the baby dinosaurs accompanied by an armed Ava. While the two adults were having a simple conversation, Ava witnessed her cousin patting a baby Apatosaurus which was looking curiously at the toddler. Valentina then giggled and sang a childish song for the baby dinosaur while Ava just chuckled under her breath. But Ava heard another commotion and saw hundreds of baby dinosaurs leaving sad children and rushing Valentina, who was giggling uncontrolably since the baby dinosaurs were licking her.
Owen and Archie also heard the commotion and stopped their conversation to see Ava and other employees rushing to gently disperse the baby dinosaurs before Owen picked his niece under her armpits and lifted her while Ava picked a baby Gallimimus to prevent it from grabbing Valentina's fake tail. Ava then put the Gallimimus down before quickly following her father, who was carrying a giggling Valentina while tourists laughed upon seeing baby dinosaurs following Ava and her father. Both made it just in time out of the petting zoo before Archie closed the gate behind them, preventing baby dinosaurs from leaving their enclosure.
Owen then carried his niece to the Titanoboa Jungle while Ava followed closely behind with her M4A1 carbine in hands. The exhibit ressembled an underground terrarium so that visitors could see the Titanoboa from below the jungle without endangering themselves. And since the Titanoboa never showed up, tourists couldn't get a glimpse of it and were quickly disappointed not to find. Ava had to run after her father, who was literally dragged in the exhibit by his niece, given how overexcited she was to see a giant snake. But when they arrived, only a few people remained, leading Ava to deduce the exhibit wasn't very popular.
"Hmm. Very few people in there." Owen muttered, looking around while Valentina jumped back and forth trying to get a glimpse of the snake.
"Whewe is the big snake?" Valentina asked her uncle and cousin.
Ava then looked at the vegetation, knowing the Titanoboa was an ambush predator that would slither around the terrarium to hunt. But it still didn't show up, probably to bask in the sun for warmth. But Ava also knew snakes weren't social creatures.
"Don't fucking know. Probably lazing in the fucking sun." Ava replied. Just then, she said, "Dad, I should try some music on my phone. Probably our last try."
Valentina then looked at her cousin with puppy eyes and asked, "Ava. Can I sing one of the nuwtewing songs Mommy and Daddy sang to me? Pwease!"
"My turn first. Then yours." Ava sternly but politely replied.
Valentina looked at the floor sadly while an employee named before clapping hands. Owen chuckled at his niece's childish behavior while Ava quietly laughed while using her cellphone to find her playlist of songs, which all turned out to be military songs before seeing a portly employee come to her. But Ava herself doubted her own childish plan would work since Ava was now a cynical teenager.
"Hey, Willy. How you going today?"
"Hi Owen, hi Ava." The employee named Willy said as he, Ava and Owen shook hands. "Doing fine. But the exhibit could close if the Titanoboa doesn't show up. And I can understand the guests who are leaving right now."
Ava then plugged her phone to her charger before plugging them to an electric power socket. The teenager then set her phone next to the loudspeaker of the exhibit before pushing the play button. As soon as the song "Niet Molotov" started, Valentina began mimicking a marching Russian soldier, not knowing this reminded her way older cousin of something bad. Ava herself shook her head, remembering her late mother was a Ukrainian journalist who met Ava's father in Africa during a counter-piracy operation. But Ava's great-grandfather, Wilder, was also a US Army veteran who fought against the nazi regime during World War 2, and Valentina making her marching dance reminded of how Wilder saw Wehrmacht and SS troops marching to provoque the American troops Wilder was part of.
"It's your niece? I heard about your brother and sister-in-law." Willy said.
"Thanks. But by now everyone in the park knows. But on to a happier topic. My niece loves nurturing songs and thinks Ava put those on the loudspeaker." Owen retorted chuckling a bit.
As Willy and Owen chuckled at Valetina's naive behavior, Ava's friends from high school arrived and greeted her before Ava whispered to them she was trying something. Her friends then looked up before seeing rustling from the trees while standing in the staff area. Valentina was making childish marching dances in the sidelines when the Titanoboa showed up in front of Valentina while Ava and her friends saw it.
"So how about the Utahraptors?" Willy asked.
"Well, so-so. Always moody." Owen retorted not yet noticing his niece jumping up and down nor his daughter trying to get his attention.
One of Ava's friends then turned the sound at maximum volume, catching the two adult males' attention. Willy turned around and saw Ava and other teenagers who were living on the island with their parents, who were also employees at Jurassic World, standing in three lines of four as Kenny Loggins' "Footloose" began to play. A girl in Ava's group named Sherry then danced like Miles Teller's character Willard Hewitt in the 2011 version of the movie while Ava thought herself as Kenny Wormald's protagonist Ren McCormack.
"Valentina, what - HOLY FUCK!" Owen yelled while Willy saw Ava and her friends dancing to the tune of Kenny Loggins' "Footloose".
Resting nearby was indeed the Titanoboa, coiled around a branch close to the window while alternatively looking at Valentina and the weirdos dancing in front of the and Willy were surprised to see the Titanoboa show up. Owen guessed it must have seen Valentina as an easy and tasty meal or, most probably since the snake already ate, heard the music Ava and her friends were playing. Unaware of the danger, Valentina cheered happily as the teenagers were dancing behind her.
"Uncle Owen, I made a new fwiend!"
"They must have heard the music! I'll play "Footloose" again!" Willy suggested.
Willy and Owen then saw Valentina giggling while the Titanoboa looked at her with a lot of interest while looking at Ava and her friends with a neutral look. Suddenly, Sherry started "Footloose" again before a male friend of Ava's named Jim filmed the two teenage girls dancing with his phone from the front while the rest of their friends were on Ava's right front to film them.
"Been workin' so hard - I'm punching my card - Eight hours for what? - Oh tell me what I got! - I got this feeling that town's just holding me down! - I'll hit the ceilin' - Or else I'll tear up this town! -"
As Jim was filming Ava and Sherry dancing to the tune of "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins, their friends were clapping hands, the Titanoboa was mostly looking at Valentina, who was on her uncle's shoulder. Owen in turn was sitting on Sherry's left. The snake didn't even pay attention to the crowd gathering upon seeing Jim's livestream of his two female friends dancing while the Titanoboa was looking at the teens without displaying aggressivity. But the giant reptile wasn't even looking at the tourists who were now filming the incredible scene with their cellphones.
"Well, I should have thought about that at first." Willy said to Owen as Valentina clapped at the Titanoboa.
Owen nodded in agreement as he spotted another employee put "Footloose" on playback loop mode through the loudspeakers, allowing Ava to take her phone back. Other children and Valentina were obviously disappointed of not singing cub scout songs but were happy to finally see the Titanoboa up close and personal. Just as Jim finished filming, Ava and her father hugged each other with happy faces, now they knew how to get the Titanoboa's attention.
Sudddenly, Ava's phone rang. The teenager then took it and replied.
"Hello? Hi Claire, where are you? Oh, and I bet Lowery got a lame "Jurassic Park" t-shirt on Ebay while still considering his workstation as a living ecosystem. And Vivian is worried about the new investors for the next exhibit, right?"
"I'm indeed with Lowery and Vivian at the Control Room. For the other parts, you got them right. And we were watching you playing "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins on repeat while dancing at the Titanoboa exhibit, which had it come to you and your cousin. Wait. How many visitors?" Claire said on the other end of the line while chuckling.
"We got 22,000 visitors sharp." Vivian replied.
"And any other incident? Oh, please Lowery, clean up your workspace. It's... chaotic." Claire told Lowery.
"Is anything right, Claire? Minus an escaped Pachicephalosaurus that busted it's implant?" Ava asked worriedly.
"No, nothing really. But your idea of a musical show is... plain wow. We should have thought of this for the Titanoboa. And for the dino, it's sedated. And I bet you saw it on your tablet." Claire answered on the phone.
"You got everything right. Oh, and hold onto your butts. Jim and the rest of my friends are gonna download the video. And you should download the footage on social media. It's gonna bring you more visitors." Ava suggested.
"Thanks for the advice, Ava. Consider it done. And say hello to your father for me." Claire said before hanging up.
Just as Claire hung up, Ava saw her father carrying Valentina out of the exhibit while her friends were downloading their videos on social media for everyone to see. Valentina then waved goodbye at the Titanoboa and Ava's friends while Owen and his daughter carried Valentina for their next stop. Valentina also saw Ava was wearing a pair of US Army trousers from World War 2, a USAF jacket from Vietnam and her father's tan beanie, all of which didn't seem to faze Ava due to the heat of Costa Rica. The teenager and her father then decided to take Valentina somewhere else for their tour of the park.
Owen then carried his niece to the Gyrosphere Valley, given he wanted to show her the best places around the park while Ava brought one of her favorite books with her to read and not being bored. The three of them were having a blast together, which didn't stop Ava from wondering what made her cousin so special but the teenager was now having a well-earned vacation time so she helped her father drive the gyrosphere while Valentina was laughing as she saw the different plant-eating dinosaurs. The family then went to the Cretaceous Cruise, an attraction where tourists paddled a kayak down the river while observing dinosaurs up close.
As Owen was paddling down the river with his daughter, Ava saw the dinosaurs looking at Valentina before beginning to follow them. Needless to say, Valentina chuckled while Ava and Owen cursed and began paddling faster as the tourists snapped pictures of the intriguing but funny scene happening before their eyes. Soon after the kayak ride, a tired Owen brought Valentina to Main Street with Ava following them. They had dinner in a nearby restaurant before going to Owen's house. Once there, Ava secured the armory and took a shower before helping her father out by preparing Valentina's bed while Owen washed his niece up. Ava then helped her father tuck Valentina in bed. The teenager then went back to her bedroom before quickly falling asleep while Owen stayed with his niece until she fell asleep. Once his niece was sleeping, Owen patted her as she dreamed of dinosaurs. But Owen also thought Ava could watch Valentina while he was at work, since neither Barry, Takashi Hamada or Zara Young could help him out. But Ava had to help Dr. Henry Wu out for something special, plus she was on vacation, so why not tell Ava to bring her cousin with her to Wu's lab for the next day.
On the next morning, Wu was sitting in his office at the back of the lab, drinking a cup of tea while also overseeing two eggs refusing to hatch. And it was precisely because these two eggs refused to hatch he had called Ava. In front of Wu was a white board with notes and drawings of two hybrid dinosaurs he made up in his lab. And the eggs were being kept at the right temperature while Wu's team looked for someone to take care of said hybrid dinosaurs before the eggs hatched. Once he finished his cup of tea, Wu stood up and went to the lab when he noticed Ava coming into the lab, remembering he had asked the teenager to help him out.
"Hi, Wu. How's it going? 'Cause you need my help apparently." Ava asked.
"Oh, hi Ava. Doing fine. And yes, I need your help." Wu answered putting his lab coat on.
"Fine. But I prefer to tell you Dad asked me a liiitle favor." Ava informed Wu while stepping aside to reveal Valentina.
Valentina was wearing pink overall with a pink t-shirt beneath those and a pair of pink sandals, contrasting with Ava's Olive Drab trousers, Jungle Green jacket and black combat boots. Moreover, Valentina's hair were tied into pigtails while Ava's hair were tied in a very loose bun in addition to Valentina having a pink backpack with her yellow stuffed Utahraptor named Honey sticking from it while Ava was carrying a brown Bergen backpack filled with food and other hardware on her back as well as her M4A1 rifle in the right hand and a Glock 17 on the waistband.
"Oh, I see. Your..." Wu began.
"Yeah. But Dad told me to tell you you weren't going to babysit her. You're our chief scientist after all. Valentina, meet Dr. Henry Wu."
Wu looked at the giggling toddler next to Ava's right leg then said, "Okay, Ava. Tell your father to put your cousin at the daycare next time. Since Jurassic World also has a daycare. In addition to having schools of course."
"Fuck, I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip. So, to the lab, shall we?" Ava said as she spotted Valentina wandering around and sticking her face to the glass of the lab.
"Of course. I called you for help so let's go." Wu suggested.
Ava motioned her cousin to follow her before going after Wu in the corridor and entering the lab. Once inside the lab, Ava and Wu went to the two unhatched eggs and stopped there before Valentina curiously eyed the eggs. She wanted to touch them but her way taller cousin stepped in and began instructing the toddler.
"Okay, Valentina. So don't mess up and don't get into trouble. Dad told me to babysit you cause I'm on vacation, ie I don't have to go to school. But don't be rude. This place has a lot of fragile devices. Kay?"
Valentina then replied nodding, "Okay-dokie Ava."
Wu then checked his watch and saw it was eight o'clock in the morning, meaning he and Ava were right on time to watch the two eggs. But Ava decided to carry her cousin on her shoulders, so that Valentina wouldn't touch everything or do something very unpleasant with the electronics in the lab. Ava therefore hit two birds with the same stone. As she saw everything from her cousin's shoulders, Valentina saw computers with graphics of dinosaurs and diagrams as well as lots of scientists working around a hatchery and several microscopes and monitors.
"Do they make dinosauws?" Valentina asked, wondering if these people and machines really made dinosaurs.
Wu thought for a second and replied, "Yes. We make dinosaurs in this lab."
Valentina then excitedly asked, "Can I see? Pwease!"
"Ava, could you show her around, please? I'm adding another task to the original one."
"Got it." Ava answered before telling her cousin while putting her to the ground, "Okay. Time to hit the ground. But don't cause trouble or touch anything. Promise?"
"I pwomise!"
Ava then let Valentina go around while staying close to the toddler just as Wu requested the teenager. The three-year-old girl then looked all around to see if any baby dinosaur was going to hatch as Ava followed Wu through a private room where two eggs laid on a table. Valentina was too small to see the eggs properly but was still amazed at the sight of the eggs. As Valentina was looking at the eggs, a male scientist made her way to Ava.
"I bet it's your cousin." she said the teen.
Ava then said, "Got it. Apparently, Dad was clever enough to think he could have me watch my cousin instead of driving her to daycare."
Suddenly, a female scientist asked, "Is this a good idea? I mean the ordeal you're going through..."
"Fine. As long as Ava keep her eyes on the kid." wu replied before asking, "So how are the animals?"
"For starters, temperature's good. Both eggs are stable but those eggs don't seem to want to hatch." The male scientist said showing Wu a clipboard with a chart pinned onto it.
The female scientist added, "It may shock you but Mike's right. They should be ready right now. But we tried everything, nothing happens."
As the scientists were discussing egg matters, Ava was keeping an eye on her cousin, who had decided to use a nearby stool to take a closer look at the eggs. The teenager then used her left foot to push the stool closer to the incubator before Valentina climbed onto the stool. The toddler then looked at the eggs in awe before feeling heartbeats inside, as well as scared animals. Valentina then touched the eggs to help the animals hatch, even if she promised her cousin not to touch anything. But the toddler took one egg in each hand, wanting to know what kind of dinosaur was going to hatch, prompting Ava to take her stunner just in case.
"It is okay-dokie. The pewsons hewe awe fwiendwy and won't huwt you." Valentina softly said to the eggs.
Ava watched in surprise, thinking her little cousin was completely nuts rubbing and touching the eggs while talking to those same eggs. But the eggs started shaking causing Valentina to pull her tiny hands away while Ava kept her stunner nearby. But deeds were done, since the first egg hatched revealing a white creature looking like a mix of a T-Rex, a Utahraptor, a crocodile and a goshawk. And this creature also caught Valentina's curiosity, as the toddler watched it getting out of it's egg before noticing the other egg hatching. A similar dinosaur popped out of the shell but still had the top part over it's eye as if it was wearing an oversized hockey helmet. The second creature tried to remove the egg shell by shaking its head while blindly walking around. Feeling sorry for the baby dinosaur, Valentina removed the eggshell before both animals made eye contact. As the bigger baby walked effortlessly, the smaller one tripped and fell before Valentina helped it on its feet. The two dinosaurs chirped in confusion before turning towards Valentina, who proceeded to scratch both creatures' head while Ava turned around and tried to get everyone's attention. Valentina giggled in delight as Ava finally resorted to the last thing she would ever do.
"Dr. Wu! Everyone! You should see this!" Ava yelled.
Wu and the other scientists turned around and rushed towards Ava who showed the bizarre scene happening before their eyes. To their utter schock and surprise, the two animals didn't seem to notice Wu, Ava or the scientists while Valentina was petting both animals which in turn thought of Valentina as their mother. But most surprising of all, was the very docile behavior of the two animals. So Wu decided to have some answers.
"Ava. What happened? I mean why are these animals that docile?" Wu asked.
Ava then told him, "Well, Valentina began speaking to the eggs, before stroking the eggs. I dunno, maybe the kid felt the animals were scared and nervous. Besides, I'm just like you and Dad. Discovering something."
"Well, if you want to know, those dinosaurs are hybrids of T-Rex, Utahraptors, Carnotaurus, crocodile and goshawk."
"Like a ligew ow a muwe?" Valentina asked naively, having overheard the conversation.
"Yeah. Like them. Their name is Indominus Rex. Scary, but easy to remember." Wu replied.
"In-do-mi-nus Wex? Why don't give them a name?" Valentina asked in quick succession.
A scientist then said, "Why not. The person they see first names them."
Wu nodded, remembering Ava and Owen had named the four Utahraptors of the park, so they shouldn't make an exception. Even if the names would sound ridiculous, it was the rules of Jurassic World after all. So they all decided to let Valentina name them as the two Indominus Rexes bobbed their heads while the toddler giggled.
"Alright, Baby Smurf. How do you name them?" Ava asked.
"I am going to name the big one Ivy and the smaww one Iwis." Valentina replied.
With that decided, Ava, Wu and everyone else nodded to each other before going back to work. Ava then texted her father about Valentina at the lab. She summed everything up before sending it. A few seconds later, Owen had replied to his daughter a simple text reading "On my way."
