After Ivy and Iris escaped, they got brought back to the lab alongside Valentina. But this time, they were monitored closely to avoid another escape attempt from them, even if Valentina was too happy to spend time with her two animal friends by sharing cakes and talking to them to really notice their personalities getting more and more explicit with Ivy being the most aggressive while Iris was the most reasonable and crooned her sister down since Ivy growled at the scientists and Ava, thinking they were intruders.
But now, Wu had to go to the T-Rex enclosure to help veterinarians out to heal the T-Rex, named Roberta, by putting medication in her food. And Wu had the perfect assistant in Ava's person, since the bored and sullen teenager had nothing to do for her vacation period since she always finished schoolwork and homework during schooltime. And Owen had plans to accompany his niece to the T-Rex Kingdom to keep an eye on the hybrids as well as to spend time with his niece. But first, Ava fed Ivy and Iris before putting them in a custom made box from Ava's make, ensuring they would stay next to Valentina all the time.
And speaking of Valentina, she was excited and happy to see the T-Rex, since it was in her favorite dinosaurs list. Valentina was actually dragging her uncle to the exhibit while carrying a basket containing Ivy and Iris while Wu and Ava followed behind them. Once they entered the viewing gallery, Valentina jumped back and forth, desperately trying to get a glimpse of the T-Rex since people were blocking the toddler's line of sight. Suddenly, Valentina was lifted off the ground and looked around to see Ava putting her on Owen's shoulders. Valentina giggled like any gullible three-year old as Ava let go off her cousin before preparing her M4A1 carbine and tranquilizer gun.
"Thank you, Ava!" Valentina happily giggled.
"Now get ready!" Owen said his niece.
"Fow what?" Valentina kept asking.
"To see Roberta the T-Rex eating a goat" Owen said grinning.
Looking at her uncle, Valentina and the others saw Roberta stalking the goat, not caring about people behind the soundproof one-way glass. But Ivy and Iris got a glimpse of Roberta by looking out of their box and were both fascinated by the big brown carnivore, which looked almost like them. However, the T-Rex saw the goat and ate it while tourists gasped and took pictures in wonder. Even if Valentina did see her other favorite dinosaur up close and personal, she still whined in pain for the goat, since the toddler was a total veggie. But Valentina noticed scars looking like Utahraptor claws on Roberta's body.
"Uncwe Owen. Ava. Why awe those scaws hewe on the T-Wex? Awe they fwom youw Utahwaptows?"
Hearing this, Ava saw the scars and remembered the T-Rex had been attacked by two escaped Utahraptors in 1993. Sighing, Ava replied, "Look. This T-Rex is named Roberta and she had been attacked by two Utahraptors from the 1993 park led by the Big One. And the Big One is a fucking sadist in regards to animal standards, killing persons because she enjoyed doing so and not just out of hunger. She and another Utahraptor named Kim almost killed the survivors, but Roberta came and killed Kim, starting a fight benefitting the survivors of the original park who promptly escaped with their life."
Shocked by how her cousin cursed, Valentina still nodded. But Wu then said, "Back then, we were supposed to hatch two T-Rexes to test sisterly bond between dinosaurs and verify Dr. Robert Baker's theory on the topic. Unfortunately, only Roberta survived the hatching process."
Valentina now felt a little sad as her uncle put her down so she could play with Iris and Ivy while under his watch. Ava indeed finished preparing her equipment before putting all that equipment on, since she was going to need all this to help Wu out and protect him if need be.
"Dad. Keep an eye on them while I help Wu out." Ava politely said her father.
"Got it. Valentina, time for us to play. Could you watch Iris and Ivy while I call Claire. Got an important call with her today, even if I stay close." Owen replied.
"Okie-dokie Uncwe Owen." Valentina cheerfully said with her usual gullible face expression.
Ava then made a fake smile before turning to a handler who showed her the design of Roberta's cage so that Claire and Ava could properly advise engineers about the design of the Indominus Rex cage. As Ava was discussing engineering, Wu put the medication into Roberta's lunch since he knew the T-Rex had to eat a lot of meat instead of a simple goat to really soothe it's hunger. Valentina was coloring books while Ivy and Iris were being watched over by Owen. But Ivy and Valentina wanted to see the T-Rex up close, no matter what. And the toddler had been used never to take no for an answer, so she would take any chance to go in there, whether people like it or not.
So, as soon as Owen was busy talking with Claire about his daughter & her friends' dance-off video being a huge Internet success, Valentina took up the box with Ivy and Iris before stopping and hiding in a corner, where the toddler saw Ava and Wu walking away with their equipment. Valentina then snuck past the halls until she saw a cage-like entrance. Ivy and Iris observed two repairmen getting busy around a lift
"The lock on the cage is busted. It's gonna be difficult to keep food in place if we wanna feed Roberta." One of them said.
"Yeah. We need another one, or else we'll have to cancel all show." The other one replied.
Valentina smiled innocently, being the gullible little girl she was, and saw an opportunity to get to the lift as the repairmen left the scene to get a new lock. Needless to say, Iris and Ivy were just as glad as their mommy to use this lift for their twisted plan. If this thing could bring either a goat or a huge chunk of meat, then it could bring a three-year-old kid like Valentina herself to the T-Rex. Valentina then ran for the lift before crawling inside the cramped pathway to the T-Rex Kingdom. Once there, Valentina stood up and awed in amazement as she found herself in a forest. The toddler and her two dinosaur friends ran through the jungle before feeling something big coming their way.
And the something turned out to be none other than Roberta, the park's T-Rex, who had smelled intruders in her territory and understood nothing, minus her handler or her food came into her territory. But the T-Rex understood these intruders were very small, unlike the humans in the log looking at her all day. But Roberta saw two white dinosaurs inside a strange square held by a little girl looking like the one shining at her. But Valentina then lifted her hand and touched Roberta's huge snout. Valentina then giggled as the T-Rex snorted very loudly before licking a giggling Valentina.
Owen hung his phone up after Claire told him everything about Ava being online, creating a huge boost in the number of ticket sales. Owen just congratulated her and wished Claire a good luck with the incoming wave of visitors as Wu had finished helping the veterinarians out for the medication inside the T-Rex food while Ava finished sketching the drawings for the Indominus Rex paddock. Ava had designed it to look like a mix of the T-Rex Kingdom and the Utahraptor Pen with a viewing gallery inside the wall in terms of general shape and width. She also drew a scale drawing of a 30-meter moat all along the walls.
"Come on, I think we're done here Valentina. Let's... Oh fuck!" Owen exclaimed as he ran for his daughter and Wu before noticing Valentina had escaped while everyone was busy.
"Not that fuck again." Ava said as she ran for the halls with the others to search for the hybrids and Valentina.
The two adults ran past people who were crowding onto the window and pointing at the T-Rex, prompting Ava to run back to the staff door and press the orange button, meaning she needed backup to keep civilians away but still didn't need the ACU to help her out. Ava being the gifted girl she was, she finally saw Valentina inside the paddock and came to the human-sized metal door before swiping her ID badge to open it before stepping into the enclosure with her kitted-out rifle in hands as security personel politely but sternly told tourists to scram. Owen and Wu heard someone scream to a guard.
"There's a little girl in there!"
The guard then politely said, "I know. But Ava got this, I can assure you. She's used to helping around during her free time after homework."
But as Owen tried to text his daughter, he saw Valentina giggling and rolling in the grass before Ava turned her rifle-mounted laser on, attracting the T-Rex, which surprisingly didn't attack Ava. Owen saw this and realized Ava must have used her keycard to enter the paddock, since he knew employees' children also had a keycard if they lived with their parents. Wu and Owen also remarked Valentina wasn't going to become Roberta's next lunch as Ava carefully stepped backwards while pointing the laser at Roberta. Owen then used his own keycard to open the door before he and Wu went inside to retrieve Valentina.
"Uncwe Owen!" Valentina happily exclaimed.
"Never do that again!" Owen politely but sternly told his niece while picking her up.
"But she won't huwt Ava. Ava can come back hewe and tuwn the wed wight on hew stwanze thing off." Valentina insisted.
"What do you mean? Will the T-Rex eat Ava?" Wu asked, not understanding everything.
"She won't. I towd hew you wewe my fwiends. I awso towd hew Uncwe Owen and Ava wewe my famiwy." Valentina explained.
Owen then texted Ava to turn her laser off and walk back to the staff door. Ava then did as instructed after getting her father's text and slowly walked back to the door. The teenager still didn't understand why she was still alive until her father told her what Valentina told him, much to Ava's surprise. But the group snuck back into the log before closing the door, knowing what just happened wasn't normal at all. They now had to get a scientific explanation as to why all this happened.
After getting to the lab, Owen and his daughter helped Wu strapping a helmet with wire on Valentina's head as she was kicking back and forth her legs while holding the basket containing Ivy and Iris.
"What's going on?" Valentina asked innocently.
"We're checking up on you. It's because we think something happened. Let's try with a new addition. Oh, and don't worry, Mr. Masrani and Mrs. Dearing know about Danni." Wu told Valentina and her uncle.
Suddenly, Wu unveiled a glass panel with a huge Dimetrodon inside the cage. But Ava still prepared her M4A1 carbine just in case before noticing how calm the reptile was. The teenager also saw how Danni didn't get fierce upon Ava stomping her foot to provoke the Dimetrodon into attacking the glass. Owen and Wu also saw Valentina's brainwaves were actually those of a person communicating with the animals and the animal seemed to be understood only by Valentina and no one else. Owen and Wu got into a very scientific conversation on the matter before Ava safetied her rifle on. Both theorized the toddler's genome had something special.
"Wait, my cousin has some gene allowing her to communicate with animals? This is so fucking crazy!" Ava said before putting five dollars into Wu's swear jar.
Just before Owen could say something, his phone rang and he gave it to his daughter, who said, "Hello?"
"Ava, could you tell me why your cousin was in the T-Rex enclosure?" Claire asked on the other end of the line.
"You know what Claire. Meet in the control room in fifteen mikes. You'll need to see this." Ava said as Wu removed Valentina's headset as Owen was printing the graphics.
"Oh. Sorry but what do I need to see exactly?" Claire politely said.
"Well, we're printing it. See you in the control room. Got it?" Ava answered.
"Okay. In fifteen minutes." Claire said before hanging up.
