Once Ava got Claire's consent, she drove the family's truck through the jungle with her father and Claire sitting behind her. Zach and Gray were sitting in front of the two adults while Valentina was still in her baby chair. The two boys were both excited to see what Ava and their aunt were up to while Valentina couldn't help but clap hands and keep asking questions to her older cousin. Needless to say, Ava being the cynical teenager she was, she didn't say anything for the whole duration of the trip. But Ava was also very realistic since she knew Tilly the Tylosaurus couldn't do any tricks, so the teenager had another idea, which happened to be a place Claire knew very well.
"Ava." Claire told the teen.
"Yeah?" Ava then retorted.
"Just tell me it's going to be safe." Claire pleaded.
"Don't worry. I had Hamada distract Hoskins the fucking Asshat while Barry will be here to watch the four girls in the cage. And if you want to know, I trusted my instinct when my cousin fell in there due to her fucking curiosity always getting the fucking better of her." Ava replied.
"Oh. Thanks for the answer." Claire said.
Gray leaned in and excitedly asked, "What is this place? What is it? What dinosaur is in there?"
"Shut the fuck up and fucking wait." Ava said, surprising Zach.
"Sorry. Ava has the habit of cursing from me." Owen vouched for his daughter.
As Ava parked the truck, she saw Barry waiting for them while preparing the Utahraptors' meal at the paddock. As soon as Ava stopped the truck, she stopped the engine as Zach and Gray left the vehicle with the two adults before Owen helped his niece out of the truck as Ava left the driver station and picked up her M4A1 carbine and holstered her Glock 17. Valentina then ran to Barry and hugged him before letting go.
"Hi, Bawwy." The toddler said.
As Barry shook Claire's hand, Ava told Zach and Gray, "Guys, meet Barry Sembène, my godfather and friend of my family's. Barry, Zach and Gray, Claire's overexcited nephews. And I know you wonder if it's a fucking good idea to bring 'em there."
Just as Ava was about to explain, her father picked Valentina up and tossed the clicker to Ava, who dextrously caught it in mid-air. The two of them then led Zach and Gray after Claire switched her high-heeled shoes for hiking shoes. Gray wondered what was in the paddock as the group went upstairs before Barry, Claire and Owen stopped the children while Ava went onto the railing and turned towards Leon.
"Okay, release the pack." Ava ordered.
Leon then pressed a button, releasing the growling Utahraptors. Gray excitedly squealed as he saw the four dinosaurs, having read about them in Alan Grant's book while Zach watched in astonishment as Valentina waved at the four predators. Ava, having noticed her cousin was the main focus of attention of the pack whistled to them, getting their attention.
"Owen, Aunt Claire. Are these dinosaurs safe?" Gray asked.
"No. If you fall, they won't be safe." Owen said. "And they have names."
"If you want to know their name, the grey one is Echo, the brown one Delta, the green one is Charlie, aka the one closest to Ava, and the blue-striped one is, you guessed it, Blue." Claire continued.
"She's the Beta. And you have the two Alphas in front of you all" Barry concluded.
But before Valentina, being the total veggie toddler she was, could give any pretzel to the Utahraptors, Ava pushed her clicker continuously before displaying big chunks of meat to the four carnivores. Valentina looked at her cousin with puppy eyes, to no effect since the teenager was focused on feeding her animals.
"Eyes. up" Ava instructed the dinosaurs.
As the four Utahraptors looked at the teen, she let the food dangle from her hand. As Echo snapped her jaws, Ava tossed the food and Echo jumped at the meat before catching it mid-air and swallowing it whole. Ava then took another huge chunk of fresh meat and displayed it to Delta, who drolled over the food before the teenage girl dropped it. Delta did the same as her sister and ate with pure satisfaction before Ava fed Blue another chunk of meat, which the latter ate hungrily.
Ava then saw it was Charlie's turn and called out, "Charlie! This one's yours."
Charlie then hungrily eyed Ava's chunk of meat before the teenager tossed it for the green Utahraptor to catch it while jumping. The dinosaur then swallowed her food whole as Ava washed her hands and joined up with the rest of the group.
"Wow. You and your father can control them?" Gray asked.
"Nah. It's a relationship based upon respect. These animals don't give a fuck of who they imprinted on. They care about who respects them, which happened to Dad and I. As for your aunt's question, I told Valentina not to fuck around, but you know toddlers are curious. So she fell for whatever fucking reason and I went inside to save her ass." Ava replied.
"On with the tour." Claire suggested.
As Owen, Ava and Claire walked away, Barry chuckled before going to check on the dinosaurs. The Mitchell boys were impressed by this man and his daughter who both trained dinosaurs for a living. Zach was most particularly awestruck by Ava, who had to concile high school and helping out in the park.
"Your boyfriend's a badass." Zach told his aunt.
"Your auntie's NOT my father's girl. That's maybe for the fucking best." Ava told, earning a grateful gaze from Claire.
But little did Ava know her father and Claire were also looking at each other as Owen prepared to drive the jeep with Claire next to him. Ava sat in front of the Mitchell brothers while her cousin was strapped to the baby chair. Then Owen started the engine and began driving towards an employee-only area of the park, where the guard, armed with the same rifle as Ava stopped them. The group then showed their badges and passes before the guard let Owen drive past him. But Gray was so excited to see the new exhibit he asked 'Are we there?' every two minutes, only to get a 'Shut the fuck up.' from Ava, though it didn't take long before Owen reached the destination and stopped the jeep. As everyone left the Jeep, Gray ran to the entrance and turned around to practically yell 'Hurry up, come on!' every five seconds. Only for Claire to tell him to wait.
"Fuck! Stop fucking yelling! We're taking the visitors' route." Ava yelled before grinning.
Claire and Owen saw the teenage girl was up to something as she brought everyone inside through the man-sized door saying 'Visitor Route' while Gray asked a billion questions about dinosaurs, to no avail since Ava didn't reply and just nodded to every employee she met. But Zach also felt something was amiss, since no one bothered to tell them anything.
As soon as Ava stopped, loud footsteps were heard and the Mitchell brothers froze in place. Claire and Owen were more at ease, since they knew what was moving into the undergrowth. And this something happened to be two grey-white dinosaurs, as big as Roberta the T-Rex with equally big teeth. And those two appeared from nowhere in particular.
"Meet Ivy and Iris the Indominus Rexes." Ava said to Zach and Gray.
Suddenly, Gray fainted. The two hybrids looked at Gray and, thanks to their accute sense of hearing, they knew he was still alive. Meanwhile, Claire called in a medical team to help evacuate Gray while Owen looked at his daughter, who just shrugged. Valentina then touched the bulletproof glass before the medical team arrived and put Gray on a stretcher.
"Sowwy Ivy. Sowwy Iwis. We have to take Gway to the doctow fow him to know what happened. I pwomise to come next time." Valentina said.
The two dinosaurs turned away, understanding what was now going on before Valentina jumped to her uncle while Zach kept watching the two sleeping animals, wondering why they were so calm. But Ava suddenly hit him behind the head, snapping him out of his trance.
"Zach, we're leaving. And if you try to seduce me, then I'm aroace. Aromantic and Asexual." Ava told Zach.
Zach then took his phone, disabled the flash and took a picture of the two dinosaurs before running to the rest of the group, wondering whether he could come back here or not. Ava, meanwhile knew she would have to come back here since she and her friends Jim and Sherry, as well as four classmates volunteered to welcome new employees and visitors at the opening.
