After leaving the police station Inko took Izuku to his favorite neighborhood park to explain why she had shown up at his school before the incident with his teacher had sidetracked her. As she sat her eight year old son down on a bench she wondered if this would be the thing that broke her son since All Might had been the one thing that had been keeping Izuku going since he had been diagnosed as quirkless at four years old and his father left them.
"Izuku sweetheart, I have something to tell you and it will probably be hard for you to hear." Inko takes a deep breath and takes Izuku's hands in hers. "It was reported and confirmed by the government in the paper this morning that All Might was killed in a battle with a powerful supervillain by the name of All for One. I thought it would be better that you learn about it from me as soon as possible then for you to hear it as a rumor that someone would try to use against you due to your love of All Might."
Izuku's body first started shaking as he started to cry over the news before it stilled as his mind started whirling as he tried to process this world altering information. His pupils shrank to pinpricks and became vacant looking as his body slumped on the bench. Inko quickly became frightened as Izuku became unresponsive to her and the outside world. She stood and rapidly ran to a nearby water fountain to wet a handkerchief to place on his head or around his neck to help with his shock. Just as she wrings the excess water out of the dampened cloth she hears a loud "POP" and a loud "Deku" in the direction of her son. Arriving back at the bench she had left Izuku on she saw her son's so-called friend Katsuki Bakugo yelling at her son as he reached a hand towards him. Flying across the ground between them she snatches the explosive child's hand away from Izuku just as it explodes.
"Katsuki Bakugo! Why were about to use your explosion on Izuku? Why would do that?" asked Inko as she shook the boy by his arm.
Katsuki sneered at her as he yelled, "Stupid Deku wouldn't answer me! He said something about All Might being dead! Now he won't talk. He knows he suppose to respond when I talk to him. I was just giving him a wake up call." As soon as his reply left his lips he found himself being yanked across Inko's knee with his hands held behind his back so he couldn't use them to get away.
Smack. "You." Smack. "Don't." Smack. "Use." Smack. "Your." Smack. "Quirk." Smack. "On." Smack. "Other." Smack. "People." Smack. "You." Smack. "Don't." Smack. "Call." Smack. "Izuku." Smack. "That." Smack. "Hurtful." Smack. "Name." Smack. "And." Smack. "You." Smack. "Don't." Smack. "Bully." Smack. "Those." Smack. "Different." Smack. "Then." Smack. "You."
Inko drove each word into Katsuki with a smack to his backside. The young boy was so surprised at the punishment he didn't even think to ignite his hands to try to escape. Except for the swats to the head his mom gave him, that truthfully didn't really hurt all that much, no one had thought to punish him since his quirk came in. They all said he had a great and powerful quirk and that he would be a great hero someday. So the boy was stunned that Auntie Inko had spanked him. As she released him and let him stand back on his own two feet, he held his hands to his backside as he cried and stared at the woman who had spanked him.
Inko looked at the young boy and sighed as she reached out to comfort the crying boy. "Katsuki, I love you like another son but I refuse to let you continue to act as you have, like a bully and a villain in the making. I know you have been using your quirk on Izuku because today he showed me the half healed burns and scars from your explosions." As Inko spoke Katsuki stiffened as she revealed to him the consequences of using his quirk on Izuku. It had never occurred to him he was permanently marking the other boy with his explosions. Hurting others wasn't something that heros did. But everyone was always telling him his quirk was perfect to be a hero. If that was true, then why would they let him act in a way that wasn't like a hero?
"B-But everyone says I'm going to be a hero, not a villain. That's it's ok to use my quirk on De-Izuku since he isn't, sniff, he isn't useful for anything but quirk practice. Plus I thought I could finally get him to give up on being a hero since he doesn't have a quirk, that if I showed him how hard it would be without a quirk, so he didn't get killed too." Katsuki sniffed out into Inko's ear as he cried on her shoulder.
"If you keep doing things like bullying others and using your quirk on others, you will end up turning into a villain. Then no one will believe you if you say you want to be a hero, by then all they will see is a bully and villain. Does that sound like something you want to happen?" The mother asked as she tried to guide the young boy back onto the right path that the other adults in his life hadn't taken the responsibly to do. It wasn't entirely the young boy's fault that he was acting this way when he hadn't been shown the error of his ways and actually praised for his actions. "Also just because Izuku doesn't have quirk doesn't mean he is useless. He is very intelligent and I think very bored in class, not that your teacher gives him much of a chance. I believe he can do what ever he wants to do, even be a-a hero." The last part was said haltingly as she adjusted her own thinking about her son's goal in life, deciding that she will support him no matter what he wanted to do.
After some time Inko releases Katsuki and turns to see how her son is doing after everything that has happened. She sees he is still out of it, although see can see his lips silently moving slightly which she takes as a good sign since mumbling is a sign Izuku's mind is processing information and he looks to be working into a major mumble storm. She would have to keep watch over him so she could snap him out of his thoughts if he looked to get out of control with his thinking. Deciding that she needs to talk to Mitsuki to explain what had happened, Inko picks up Izuku and reaches out a hand to Katsuki as she tells him she will walk him home.
Meanwhile in Izuku's head
"All Might is dead!? No that can't be true. But Mom wouldn't lie about that. Which means that there are villains out there that even All Might can't defeat by himself?! If that is true, why didn't he ask for help? Wouldn't it be better to ask for help then to risk the villain escaping? Wouldn't it be better to be over prepared by having help? Maybe if he had gathered more information about his opponent then maybe All Might could have gathered people to help defeat this All for One. But he didn't. Does this mean All Might wasn't as great as everyone thought? Or was All for One just that dangerous? I guess I'll never know since they're both dead. I guess Endeavor will be the new Number One. I hope he is up to the challenge. It will be hard to fill All Might's shoes as a hero. Oh Kaachan is here. Oh I told him All Might is dead. I hope he isn't upset. Oh mom stopped him from exploding my face. I hope she can help him if he cries about All Might. Why is she spanking him? Kaachan is becoming a villain? I'm not useless? But I'm quirkless. Everyone tells me that I don't have any thing to offer since I don't have a quirk. Is mom saying they are wrong? Also it would be great if Kaachan would stop hurting me and the others in class. Adults told Kaachan it was ok to hurt me with his quirk? That sounds mean. What? Kaachan was trying to stop me from being a hero because he didn't want me to get hurt or killed? Like All Might did? I'm glad Kaachan is realizing he wasn't being heroic like by being a bully. But I bet he wishes it didn't come with a spanking. Oh mom said I was intelligent. Doesn't that mean really smart? Oh she is right I'm bored at school. It all seems so easy. Maybe that's why the teachers think I cheat though I don't know how they think I do since they always put me in a corner away from the other students. At least I can write in my notebooks after I get done with my homework. Although I've already observed all I can about everyone's quirks in class from watching. I wish they would let me ask about their quirks but everyone thinks I'm dumb because of Ms. Aio or thinks that they will catch my quirklessness. Which is stupid if you know anything about genetics. Oh mom is picking me up. I guess we are going to walk Kaachan home. I hope Auntie Mitsuki isn't mad mom spanked Kaachan but maybe he needed it since no one had told him he had been doing the wrong thing? Kaachan could be a great hero if he can learn to do things the right way. I could help him with that I bet. I could help him develop his quirk. But I don't want him to die like All Might. So he needs teammates. Yes teammates to make sure he is safe. Maybe they will even let me be a sidekick since I'm helping them. That would be great! Ohhhh, Auntie Mitsuki is hugging me. Is she crying? I wonder why? Oh Kaachan is saying he's sorry!?"
Izuku snaps out of his shock at this moment and rejoins the waking world.
Inko arrives with the boys outside the Bakugo home and rings the bell to alert the household to visitors. Seconds later she hears the loud voice of her friend Mitsuki Bakugo yelling at her husband that she was getting the door. When Mitsuki opens the door she is pleasantly surprised to see Inko standing there. "Hey Inko! Long time no see. What brings you by, not that you aren't always welcome."
Inko looks Mitsuki in the eye with a serious expression, "Mitsuki I need you to get Masaru down here. I have some things to discuss with the both of you. Meet me in your living room. I'm going to take the boys there now." Mitsuki frowns but does what her friend asks since Inko seems to be in a grave mood, which was out of character for her unless she was working a case at work.
When both elder Bakugos arrive in the living room they see Inko perched on the edge of the sofa with a cowed Katsuki sitting beside her and an out of it Izuku leaned into the corner of the couch. Inko gestures for them to sit down before she stands and bows to them. "I must apologize in advance. I got caught up in the moment earlier and took it upon myself to discipline Katsuki by spanking him. But in my defense I have had a stressful day and learned some facts about him which may have contributed to my ire against him. Let me start from the beginning before you condemn me ok?" At a nod from the two Bakugos, Inko starts telling them about what happened that day from finding out that All Might was dead and wanting to be there for Izuku (the news of the hero's death getting reactions from all three Bakugos), to finding Izuku's teacher verbally and physically abusing him and destroying his homework, her threatening said teacher (which got a grin from Mitsuki and a awed look from Katsuki), to next reporting everything to the police, to finding out about the systematic abuse and discrimination condoned by the administration and the encouragement of bullying by students with stronger quirks against students with weaker quirks or no quirks, Izuku showing the injuries given to him by Katsuki and other bullies to the detective (Inko shows photos that Tsukauchi had given her copies of for this purpose which caused Katsuki's parents to glare at him), to taking Izuku to the park to break the news of All Might's death, and finally of catching Katsuki about to explode an unresponsive Izuku. She goes on to tell of her questioning Katsuki about his motives and his response which lead her to spank the boy (at which point Mitsuki comments she would have done the same while Masaru just stares at Katsuki in disappointment which actually causes Katsuki to flinch and make him feel worse then the spanking did), and then what they had discussed when she comforted Katsuki afterwards.
Afterwards everyone sat in silence as they processed all the information that Inko had dumped on them. Eventually Mitsuki and Masaru turned to each other and had a silent conversation with their eyes like only long time partners can before turning back to Inko. "Inko, first? Holy shit! You seem to have gone through the trenches today. I'm in awe that you haven't gone off the rails after everything that happened. Secondly, as to your spanking Katsuki, I think he got off lucky that you just spanked him and not done something more drastic that maybe someone who didn't know him as well might of done. We are also heartbroken that our son has been responsible for injuring yours. We will be discussing his actions and punishing him ourselves too. Though it looks like your heart to heart with him has knocked a lot of the wind out of his sails already." At this point Mitsuki starts to tear up as her emotions overwhelm her and she bolts out of her seat to hug Izuku as she wails for him to forgive the hurt their family had caused him through the actions of Katsuki. Seeing his mother cry and beg forgiveness, Katsuki starts to cry and apologize over and over again while saying he doesn't want to be a villain.
As Mitsuki sits there slowly a small pair of arms wrap around her causing her to look down at the green haired boy she had always viewed as another son. She could see that there was life in those eyes now unlike how they looked earlier when he and Inko arrived.
"It's ok Auntie Mitsuki. Don't cry. You should be mad at the ones who told Kaachan it was ok to act that way. At least that's what I think. If the teacher and other people hadn't said it was ok to be mean then maybe Kaachan and the other kids wouldn't think it's ok to be that way. That is why I think it's important that someone helps him be the hero I know he can be. So instead of being a hero, I'm going to help Kaachan develop his quirk with my analysis. Also I don't want him to die by himself like All Might did, so I'm going to find him teammates. I'll also help them with their quirks so they can be of help and stand beside Kaachan." Izuku spews out as his mouth tries to keep up with the speed of the thoughts in his mind. Both Mitsuki and Katsuki are taken aback at the word vomit that comes out of the young boy's mouth. Mitsuki turns her head to Inko when she hears the woman snort.
"Surprised aren't you? Izuku is much more intelligent then that school was allowing him to be. His brain takes in information and processes it at an incredible rate. That's why I suspect he is bored at school. Every night is like this with him reading anything he can about what catches his attention. The only constant that he talks about is quirks and heros. I think he is going to rock the world one day with his intelligence."
