Chapter 7: The first mission
Those two words sparked a feeling of satisfaction inside me. She accepted. We... we helped her! That's... I can't believe it!
The mayor nodded. "Alright. Then, you should go to your respective works and inform your bosses of this decission. I will stay here with Jake to sort all the documentation of your team"
"Yeah, that seems reasonable"
"I can't believe I'm leaving Agatha's store after all this time..." Ember sighed. "This is what they would want..."
"I'll wait for you here then. See you soon"
I waved goodbye to my friends as they left the town hall. The mayor cleared his throat to catch my attention. "Now, we will start with the papers. Just wait a moment"
The mayor then closed his eyes and stood in silence for a while. Before I could question what he was doing, a Chansey walked inside the room with a pen and paper.
"Did you call me here, sir?"
"Yes. This Lucario wants to form an exploration team, and I need you to write down all the information. Could you do that?"
"Absolutely, sir!"
The psychic type nodded his head and chuckled at my totally confused face.
"Did you like it? This old Herdier knows more tricks than you may think, but let us get back to business. I assume you will be the leader of the team?"
"Y-Yeah"
"Good. Now, what will your team's name be?"
A name? I haven't thought that far!
"Do I have to answer now? I don't have any name planned and I wouldn't like to make the decission without asking my teammates first"
The mayor nodded and answered. "Alright then. Next up, I need you to tell me some personal information"
"Oh... I'm sorry, but I don't remember anything about me. I am amnesiac"
The mayor raised a brow. "That's quite the predicament we have here..."
"I just know that I am not from anywhere near this town. That's all I remember"
He nodded. "I figured this would be the case the moment I laid my eyes on you for the first time"
He turned to the Chansey. "We need the form full if we want the Expedition Society to even read your team's file, so we will assume you were born and raised in this town"
"But, sir! We can't do that!" The Chansey exclaimed.
"Nonsense. I have the feeling this young Pokémon will be of great help to the town. Not like it has been the first time this has happened" He replied, waving his hand dismisively, and giving me a smirk.
"If you have nothing else to add, we are done here for now. My assistant here will deal with all of the paperwork, so don't worry about it. As for you, go outside. A Quilava should be waiting for you. He is the representative of the Expedition Society in this town. He will explain to you and your team all that is needed to know"
I nodded. "Alright sir. Thank you for giving us this opportunity"
He smiled. "Do not worry. I am sure you youngsters have the skill needed for this"
As I was about to leave, however, the mayor called my name one last time. "Remember to pick a name for your team. It cannot take longer than today, understood?"
"Clearly. See you, Mr. Mayor!"
"One last thing. I need you to remember this everywhere you go, so listen carefully"
"What is it?"
"Pokémon are not always who they seem to be. Be careful who you trust. That is all"
With those puzzling words, I walked out of the mayor's office, thinking about what the Alakazam had just said.
Nash is going to go nuts when I tell him that I'm gonna become an explorer!
Kit had arrived to the dojo not too long after he had left the town hall, and entered the building.
"You are late, you know that?" The Marowak said without looking at him.
"Nope"
That seemed to catch Nash's attention away from the paperwork. "What are you talking about?"
"Remember Jake? Well, turns out he's becoming an explorer... and I'm joining him! So... I'm leaving"
"What?! You are leaving right now? You didn't even warn me!"
"What's going on?" Jacques asked, coming from the arena followed by Lily.
"Kit's leaving"
"What?!" The two exclaimed, giving the Zoroark shocked looks.
"Yeah! I'm becoming part of an explorer team! Isn't that great?"
The expressions of his friends turned from surprise into happiness. "You are becoming part of an explorer team? That's so awesome!" Jacques exclaimed.
"That's lucky! I wish I could become one..." Lily added.
"You are still going to visit us, right?"
"Of course! Don't speak like if I was going to go to another continent! I'm still gonna be your neighbour!"
Nash sighed and stood up from his seat. "You know, I always knew that you would do something like this sooner or later..."
"Am I hearing this right? The boss is really implying that he's gonna miss Kit?" Jacques taunted.
"Yes, I am implying that"
"Oh, come on, don't you- wait, what?"
"Oh, thanks Nash! I'll miss you guys too! I promise I'll come and visit you whenever I can!
"Bye! And don't you dare lose that pendant! You look sick with it!" Jacques yelled.
"Yeah, goodbye Kit!"
"Good luck! And remember you'll always be welcomed back!"
Kit left the room with a smile on his face.
"Kit becoming an explorer? Honestly, it suits him alright" The Thievul mumbled to himself before sighing.
"Something wrong, Jacques?" Lily asked.
"Hm? No, nothing at all. Mind if I go down to the maze for a second?"
"Sure, but don't take too long. If Kit's gone, we need all the help we can get. I swear to Arceus, he could have told me sooner..."
Jacques left Nash rambling about his things while he took the stairs down. "Kit in an explorer team... That's definitely something worth telling..."
He grabbed his bag and opened it, but stopped himself. "Do I really want to?"
A moment of hesitation. "I have to... It will be worse for the two of us if they find out I didn't tell them..."
"Ember! Hey there! You are a bit late, you know that?" Aiden said to the fire type, once he saw her enter.
"Yeah, about that... Can you umm... call Agatha? I have something to tell her. Actually, all of you"
"Sure! Just wait a moment"
Not too long after he disappeared, Agatha and Damian walked out followed by the Incineroar. The Froslass had a clipboard in her hands, something she always carried with her during work hours.
"What is the matter, Ember?" The Absol asked.
"Well... I'm leaving"
Agatha looked up. "You are? What happened?" She asked.
"I don't know how to explain this but... You know Jake? Somehow, we rescued a kid yesterday and the mayor offered him an opportunity to become the leader of a team. The thing is, somehow, Kit and him have convinced me to go with them, so I can't really be in two places at once, so uhhh..."
"You're telling us that you are becoming an explorer?" Aiden questioned with a look of disbelief.
"That is definitely something more suited for you" Damian agreed, with his usual emotionless face.
The clipboard fell from Agatha's hands. "You... are joining an explorer team? A real, explorer team that goes on missions?" She mumbled.
"Y-Yes?"
The ice type quickly floated towards Ember and gave her a big hug, tears falling from her eyes. "What did I tell you? I said you'll get over it eventually, but you didn't listen. Now see what you are about to do! I'm so proud and happy for you! I knew that Lucario was going to give you the final push you needed the moment they came asking for info!"
"They did what?"
"That is not important now" Damian cut off. "You deserve to be congratulated for getting over your past"
"You kidding? She deserves more than that! I remind you that she didn't even want to even hear the word 'explorer' a few days ago!" Aiden chimed in. "That Jake guy is really something else, huh? Is there something you ain't telling us~?"
"Shut up!" Ember yelled, making everyone laugh, something that she joined in not too long after.
"Well, I guess this is a goodbye for now, bestie" Agatha sighed, finally letting go off the fire type. "Promise me that you will come back to visit sometime, got it?"
"Of course! I'm not just gonna leave you forever!"
A moment of silence followed. "I should go now. They are waiting for me" Ember finally said.
"Take care!" Aiden exclaimed.
"Good luck!" Damian added.
"Don't die out there! And remember you'll always have a spot here!" Agatha finished.
Ember exited the shop waving at her friends, a small tear present on her face.
"Twenty bucks Ember and Jake end up together" Aiden smirked.
"I'll back you up on that" Agatha added.
"I am not a Pokémon that usually makes bets, but I will side with you this time"
"Unanimous decission, I see" The Froslass laughed.
After stepping outside of the building, I saw the Quilava the mayor was talking about, his flaming tail giving enough heat to melt any ice types that walked too close. He was eyeing some sort of bulleting board, but stopped when he realized I was there. He wore a small satchel and a badge pinned to its strap.
"Heya! You must be Jake, right? The leader of that new team formed by the 'mon that beat those criminals yesterday?"
I nodded. "Yep. That's me"
"That's so cool, man! You beat those criminals like they were babies! No surprise the mayor gave you the chance to form a team!"
"Thanks, I guess. He also told me that you were the representative of the... Expedition Society?"
"Correct! The mayor has tasked me with teaching you and your team the basics of the basics"
"That's cool. By the way, do you by any chance know where they took those criminals?"
The Quilava hummed in thought, looking up. Finally his face turned back to me. "I think they were going to be interrogated today at the police station, but I'm not sure. What I am sure of, is that thanks to you, that kid was able to see his mother again"
I blushed a bit from the praise. "I'm sure it wasn't that important"
"No need to act humble! You beat them good! I'm sure that kid and his mother will never forget it"
I smiled, and sighed. This Quilava looked really enthusiastic about his job. "You haven't told me your name yet"
"Oh, where did my manners go? I'm Blaze. Nice to meet you, Jake!"
We shook hands, and for what felt like minutes, we stood in silence, not knowing what else to say. Thankfully, a certain Zoroark decided to appear just at the perfect time.
"Hey, Jake! I'm back. How was the paperwork? Was it too boring?"
"Nothing I couldn't handle. Just a few questions. By the way, we have to pick a name for our team"
"Obviously! I'm sure you will choose a sick name, though"
"What did your friends tell you?"
"Just the usual goodbyes. Nash also went..." As he said this, he used his illusion to become and speak like Nash. "You can do whatever you want, but you won't get paid if you aren't working here, blah blah blah" He said while he dramatically shaked the fake bone club around.
Blaze began clapping at the imitation, causing Kit to revert back to his normal form, and bow.
"Really? That doesn't sound like Nash"
"I may have altered the conversation we had a bit, but that was basically it" His gaze turned to Blaze. "Didn't know I had fans here! Sup, Quilava! I'm Kit"
"I'm Blaze"
"Guys! I'm here! What did I miss?"
That voice came from Ember, who was walking towards us with a small grin on her face.
"Hey Ember! How did it go?"
"Great! When I told her, Agatha was happier than what I ever saw her be! They wished me good luck, and that the shop would always have a spot for me if I wanted to come back"
"That's great! At least you guys have a backup plan"
Blaze cleared his throat, catching our attention, and putting and end to our conversation.
"Very well. It seems like everyone is here. As both of you Jake and Kit know, I'm Blaze, and I will teach you the basics of how to accept missions, and all of that. Now, if you take a look at this board..."
He turned to the board he was looking at earlier. "Here are all the available missions. All of them have a different difficulty, so you should start with something simple. When you have one decided, just take the paper and go to the adress it's put on it, and the client will give you more details. Of course, you will need this"
He opened his satchel and pulled out three shiny objects. They were white, and had a small pink stone in the middle. From their sides, small wings portruded. On the top, it had what looked like a small button.
"These are your badges. They prove that you are a real approved team. They are also imbued with psychic energy, which allows you to rescue the Pokémon trapped in dungeons, serves as an ID card, and also as a small communicator"
"Cool" I muttered.
"Now, about Mistery Dungeons. As you probably know, they are space-time distortions. Their layouts change every time you enter, and the items and enemies inside too. All of them share these characteristics, and should be explored with precaution. If all of you three faint inside one, you will be expelled from it, making you lose half of the money you were carrying and up to half of the items too" He looked at Kit. "And yes, that included the pendant you are wearing. Don't get fooled, though. There is still a high risk of dying there. Despite the dungeon Pokémon ignoring fainted members, take too many strong blows, and you will be goners. Any questions?"
All three of us shook our head. "Understood clearly!" Said Kit.
He grinned. "Good. Now, you should go get new and bigger bags. Because the one your friend has is too small, and you need one each. You could go to that convenience store a few streets away for one, I'm sure they have them. Meet me back here when you have it. We will make a small change to them with the help of someone I'll fetch right now, and then I'll help you choose your first mission"
"Got it" I nodded.
Ember sighed. "Oh, so I just came back from there to say that I'm leaving, and I have to go back this soon?" She said, half laughing.
"You worked at the store?" Asked Blaze.
"Yep, as the cashier. Never saw you there, though"
"You see, teams usually buy their things in the Kecleon store or the department store, but the only thing I have never seen there are bags"
"Alright, so buy a bag, and come back here?"
Blaze nodded. "Well then. Let's go guys! First mission: Go buy a bag!"
We walked back to the shop, and entered inside, seeing it full of different kinds of Pokémon. The only thing different was that in the counter, Agatha was the one behind it and not Ember, acting as the cashier.
Once we stepped in front of her however, she looked at us, and widened her eyes.
"Not even ten minutes? Did it go so bad?" She laughed.
"Don't joke about that! We just need some bags, and of course we would come and buy them here! Do you by any chance have a few bigger bags than the one I have that we could use?"
"I'll go check" She said giggling. She floated away into the storage area of the shop, disappearing from our sight. After some time, the Froslass came back with three bags big enough to hold a pair of laptops.
I doubt they have those, though.
"Here you go. This is all we have, try them on! Also, Aiden and Damian say hi"
The bag was perfectly adjusted, and didn't feel uncomfortable at all. The inside was big enough for everything we would ever need, and the material of which it was made of looked waterproof.
"Woah! These are perfect! How much do we owe you?"
"Damian already made that math. 30 Poké for the three of them"
"What?! I can't accept that!" Said Ember.
"Come on girl, think of it as a goodbye gift. Just take it!"
Ember reluctantly gave Agatha a few coins. "Well, guys! I'm sure you have things to do, so I won't hold you back any longer. Good luck, team!"
"Before we go, how is it that you are the cashier now?" Ember asked.
"Well, Aiden's work is perfectly fit for him, and Damian doesn't really do well when faced with a lot of Pokémon in a single day, so I was the last remaining"
"Makes sense"
After waving her goodbye, we walked back to the town hall, and saw Blaze accompanied by two Pokémon. One of them was a Beheeyem. He was silently listening to what the other Pokémon was saying, a Mismagious. After seeing that, I instantly fell a chill go down my spine. He looked oddly familiar, but I had never seen him.
Right?
When we got closer, the Mismagious looked at me, and frowned, but when he realized what he had just done, he quickly smiled.
"Hey guys! I see you have the bags already!" Said Blaze.
"We do!" Replied Kit.
"Umm, if it's okay to ask, who are them?" I asked.
"Them? Of course you never met, did you?" He pointed Beheeyem. "This is Charles. He's the one that'll make the adjustments to your bags" He then pointed at the Mismagious. "And this is Mismagious. He's the leader of another rescue team. He has come to pay you guys a visit, apparently"
"Yes! When I heard that a new team was going to be assembled, I couldn't wait to meet the members!"
"Oh..."
I don't know. This still seems a bit fishy to me...
"What are your names?" He asked.
"I'm Jake"
"I'm Ember"
"And I'm Kit"
The Mismagious widened his eyes at that last sentence for a fraction of a second. "Well, nice to meet you! If you are wondering why I just use my species name is because I'm keeping my real name for when I become a famous explorer!"
"Well, nice to meet you, Charles and Mismagious!" Greeted Kit.
I didn't notice this earlier, but I his aura felt... weird. I couldn't exactly trace the feeling, but I knew something wasn't right with him.
"Well, don't want to hold you any longer. Good luck with your first mission!" He said while floating away. I could swear I heard him mutter something.
"A nice guy, I suppose..." Mumbled Ember.
She then noticed my expression. "Something wrong, Jake?"
"I don't know why, but that Mismagious...is familiar to me. Like if I had already seen him somewhere..."
"Must be your mind playing with you"
"Alright team, give Charles your bags for a moment!" Blaze declared, bringing our attention back to him.
We did that, but I couldn't help but ask him about it. "It's a surprise" The psychic type answered. "You'll see"
Once the three bags were in his hands, he closed his eyes and a pink glow came from them, engulfing the three objects and blinding us.
A few seconds later, the glow subsided, and Charles gave us the bags back. "There you go. It should work now"
"What should work exactly?" Kit asked, looking at the bag.
"I see everything exactly the same" I added.
"Exactly. It just looks like a completely regular bag, doesn't it?" Charles smiled.
"Yeah?"
"Do you have anything on you?" Blaze asked, also smiling.
"Anything like what?" Ember questioned.
"Doesn't matter. You guys have your badges, right? Put them in your bags"
We did as Blaze asked and tossed our badges in. "Good. Now Jake, grab the three badges" I tilted my head. "Just trust me and reach into your bag"
Reluctantly I went to grab my badge, but stopped when I realized something. Inside my bag, I could feel not only my own badge, but another two. I grabbed them and looked at them.
The three badges had just come from my bag.
Kit and Ember were both widened their eyes and looked at their own satchels.
"Heh. Amazing, isn't it? What Charles just did is link your bags so that the three of you can access all the items you have, no matter where you are located inside a dungeon or whose bag the object is in"
"Be aware, though! This only works when you guys are inside a dungeon or when the bags are very close to each other!" Charles added.
"Amazing..." I murmured.
"How does this work?" Ember asked, amazed.
"That's a secret!... Which is another way to tell you I don't even know myself! Hehe..."
"Anyway, let's continue with your orientation! Now, if you please, get closer to the board! And I recommend pinning your badges to your bags" Interrupted Blaze.
We did that and looked at the board. Posted there, there were tenths of missions, just sitting there, waiting for someone to pick them and complete them. Blaze stood on his hind legs and grabbed one of the papers, handing it to me.
"This seems to be one of the easy missions. Come on, go ahead. Read it out loud"
"Oh! Umm..."
How do I tell him...?
"Actually, maybe I should read it. Don't you think, Jake?"
I nodded and handed Kit the paper. Blaze raised a brow, but didn't comment.
Kit read started reading out loud. "
My precious item was stolen!
This morning, I woke up and realized my Power Band was missing! It was instead replaced by a note that said that if I wanted to see it again, I would have to come to a Mistery Dungeon to get it back! Please, someone help me!
"
Following that was what sounded like a name and an address.
"So this is our mission?" I asked.
"Yes. You have to go to the client's house and ask them for more details. When you finish the mission, just get inside the town hall and tell the Chansey at the reception you want to see me. Good luck, guys!"
"Seems easy enough. Just fetching an object from an MD? Let's do this, team!"
After waving Blaze goodbye, we started walking to the client's house, which apparently, was in that very same street, not too far away.
We stopped in front of one of the biggest houses. Instead of the usual wooden exterior, this one was made out of solid rocks, and was painted with a beautiful white. I knocked on the door.
"Coming!"
The door suddenly opened, revealing a small Pachirisu wearing a headband. "Hello, who are you?"
"We are an explorer team. We were looking for... Kira?" Kit read.
The Pachirisu let out a sigh of relief. "Finally someone decides to help us. Come on in, that's my mom"
We stepped inside. To say the least, it was nothing like Ember or Kit's house. This one was big, and it had stairs that went up, hinting to a second floor. All the furniture was still made of wood, but it definitely looked like it was of a much better quality.
"MOM! COME HERE, YOU'VE GOT VISITORS!"
I jumped at the sudden shriek of the Pachirisu, but I tried not to make it seem too obvious. Not too long after, an Emolga came gliding down the stairs.
"Jeez, daughter! Don't yell like that! I'm sure that all the Pokémon in Sahra Town heard you!"
"Sorry, mom..."
She sighed and looked at us. "I suppose you are looking for Kira? That's me, nice to meet you. You need information about the mission, right?"
"Yes, ma'am"
"Alright. Come inside and sit down. Do you perhaps want something to drink?"
We shook our heads and followed the electric type to the sofa, where we sat. It was a lot more confortable than Ember's by a long shot.
"Alright then. I suppose you want to hear the details? I am one of the producers that make all the bands and ribbons that explores buy. A few days ago, I finished a new design of Power Band, but it got stolen overnight. The thief left a letter saying that if I wanted to get it back, I would need to go to Treeshroud Hills to find it. And since that's a Mystery Dungeon, I can't go inside, both because of the law and because of my almost null fighting abilities"
"So you want us to go to that Mystery Dungeon and get it back for you?" Summarized Ember.
"Yes. I will pay you a whole 200 Poké for the job"
Woah! 200? Isn't that a bit much? Well, Kit said that you could win a lot of money with this, but it still seems unfair.
"Alright, we'll do it. You can count on us!"
Kira smiled and nodded. "Thank you. I was starting to lose hope that we would ever get help. Explorers are too busy with all this criminal activity they don't have time for the simple quests like this one"
"Don't worry! You'll get your band back in no time!" I exclaimed.
We waved the duo goodbye and exited the house. "Man... Where could that dungeon they are talking about be?" I thought out loud.
"I honestly don't know. In fact, I only know where Darkness Cave is because... well, you know..." Added Ember.
"Guess I'm going to be the nerd, huh? Treeshroud Hills is not too far from the main gate. Just exit, and keep walking forward until you see a huge wall of trees. Then you know you are at the dungeon's entrance" Kit explained.
We started walking to the gate, waving to all the Pokémon that walked past us. "And how do you know?"
"I kinda did some...exploration in the past. I know where the closest dungeons are. Why do you think I have that device you showed us? There is definitely nothing like that here"
"Yeah, actually. Why do you have it? Isn't it a human thing?"
"Mistery Dungeons are dimensional distortions, Jake. Apparently, and very, very rarely, weird objects appear inside instead of the usual berries or orbs. Spark and I explored a lot to find that thing. We didn't even know it was human until you came! They even got a museum somewhere a few towns away. There are a lot of weird things there, but I'm sure you will be able to identify all of them. Maybe we should go there sometime"
"What?! MD's can bring human stuff here?! What if..."
"I doubt a Mistery Dungeon brought you here. If it did, I'm sure you wouldn't have become a Pokémon"
"Well, one thing is sure. We have to go to that museum!"
"After a few misions, we may be able to afford it!"
Small chat filled our walk go the gate. We hadn't even started yet and I was already enjoying every second of it. Just when we were about to go out though, I realized we were missing something.
"Shouldn't we buy equipment?"
Both Pokémon stopped and turned back. "Right..." Said Kit, rubbing the back of his head.
"Can't believe we forgot something like that..." Added Ember, doing the same.
"Let's go to the Kecleon store then?"
Both nodded and we back to the center of the town once again. It was just like when we went to the dojo, but this time, we stopped in front of one of the shops, the same one that was so crowded the first time I went through here.
This time, it was completely empty, probably because all the explorers had already bought their equipment and where somewhere else.
"Hello, there! It's been a long while since there were new faces around here!" Exclaimed one of the Kecleon, the green one.
"I suppose you want some of our high quality equipment?" Added the other Kecleon, the purple one.
"We do. We are new here, and we'd like to buy some basic things for our first job. Maybe four Oran berries?" I asked my teammates.
"That sounds good. Add a Reviver Seed too" Said Kit.
"And definitely an Escape Orb" Ember added.
"Alright! Let me search for those" The green Kecleon said, going to the back of the store, while the purple one stood waiting with us.
"That will make... around 700 Poké, with the first-time discount" He told us.
Seven hundred?! For four berries, an orb and a seed?
"That's our whole budget..." Informed Kit.
"Worth it, I guess. Lets just not use all of the equipment today" Ember said while the two took their money out.
Just then, the green Kecleon came back with all of our items. "Here you go!"
Ember gave them the money, and we put them in our bags. We checked our new linked bags, and when we saw that everything was in order, we started walking out.
"Thank you for shopping here!" Began the first Kecleon.
"Hope to see you soon!" Finished the other one.
"Bye!"
We walked out of the store and, this time for real, we began marching to the gate, towards the dungeon known as Treeshroud Hills.
Mismagious rushed inside the hidden hut in the middle of the forest. He was greeted by a a Bisharp that stopped him in his tracks.
"Password. Prepare for trouble?"
"And make it double. Nice to see you again, Koa"
"Yeah, yeah. Just get in the teleporter already"
Mismagious phased through the door, and looked at the inside of the hut. It was completely dark inside, with the light of the Sun peeking from between the cracks in the wood. In the middle of the building, there was a platform, which Mismagious floated towards.
When he was in the middle, it suddenly began glowing in a blinding light, until the ghost type was suddenly transported to a completely new location.
This room was completely illuminated, something that took Mismagious a few seconds to get used tom It also had more teleporters that were all connected to different locations.
How do these work, I wonder... He thought.
"Hey Mismagious. Nice to see you again. The Boss is waiting for you" A Lurantis, Kannoyak told him.
"Thanks, Kannoyak. I'll go right away"
Passing through the underground halls and waving to the big amount of Pokémon that walked around them, Mismagious made his way to the Boss' office, something that usually sparked terror in the heart of those who had to, but to which he was already used to.
Inside, he was met with her. Her piercing yellow eyes softening only slightly when she saw who just came through the door.
"Mismagious..."
"L, how have you been doing?"
"Bad. And the report that Thievul just makes it even worse, so let me see if I got it right. You are telling me that bastard has joined that pathetic excuse of a hero in becoming an explorer?"
"Yep, just confirmed it a few minutes ago. I knew it would shock ya" Mismagious confirmed.
She tried keeping calm, but couldn't help but barge a fist on the table. "I am not tolerating this! That bastard will pay for what he did to us!"
After some deep breaths, she sighed. "This will requiere extensive planning, countless amounts of information and our best teams to do the work. They already beat and captured those rookies yesterday; We can't let them become any stronger. I want a team of spies plus you and that other spy surrounding that town as soon as possible. No one will exit or enter it without us knowing, got it?"
Mismagious put a hand on his forehead, saluting. "Afirmative! I'll inform Team Shadow that we got some work to do!"
"Very well then, you are dismissed. And leave the formalities for when you actually need them, buddy"
Mismagious laughed and let his hand down. "Aren't you the 'big Boss' after all?"
"But I'm still your friend. And because of that, I'll give you an advice: Move your ass!"
Mismagious exited her office floating as quickly as he had entered. Seeing that she was alone again, the Boss sighed and looked at her desk. There, laid a small framed picture. It was torn apart, but the part that was able to be seen depicted a small, pale grey Zorua with yellow eyes, looking to the missing side, a small, timid smile present on her muzzle.
She let the photo back on the table, resisting the urge to throw it against the wall.
"I will never forget what you did to us. I am going to do this, Kit, either with, or without you"
END OF CHAPTER 7
This chapter was fun to rewrite.
I wanted to start developing the plot more, while also expanding the chapter a bit. Let me know what you think.
Hopefully you have a great day!
