"Don't you just love the rain?!"

Everybody looked up from their activities in the living room when they heard the excited yell coming from Ash. It was a rainy day in the middle of November and there wasn't much to do. The rain had been falling all day, lightly then heavily, spell after spell. It was always difficult keeping the Ketchum children calm and occupied in indoor activities but today they seemed to be content with drawing, reading and watching the raindrops race. This time it was Ash who was agitated with being stuck indoors after having completed his days' work.

He had been quietly grumbling all afternoon so his outburst was the loudest he had been in a while.

Misty rushed over to the window when she heard her husband's voice was coming from outside. I watched her squint through the rain splattered window before opening it and sticking her head out when she spotted him.

"Ash Ketchum, what on earth are you doing?!"

Upon hearing their father's full name, all of the children knew he was in trouble and rushed over to peer out the window to see for themselves what was happening. I was filled with curiosity and bounded over myself. My eyes couldn't focus at first due to the rain splattered glass but soon enough I could see what was taking place.

Ash was standing in the middle of the pavement, his arms stretched out and staring up at where the rain was coming from. Every time a huge droplet fell on his face, his grin increased even more.

"Ash, have you gone mad?!" Misty hissed at her husband the exact words I was thinking. "You'll catch a cold!"

The raven haired male just shrugged, brushing his rain soaked bangs out of his eyes and beaming more at his wife.

"I don't care, it's beautiful out here."

Misty frowned and turned to give the twins a highly confused look only to see they had grabbed their wellies and run outside to join their father.

"Benjamin, Katie! What is it with everyone today?"

I gave Misty a sympathetic look before going back to looking out the window. All three Ketchum members were standing in a line with their arms outstretched and letting the rain fall on their faces.

"Ahh, it sure is bliss." Ben commented, staring up at the sky and sharing the same smile as his father as he watched the rain tumbling on his face.

Katie, who never really agreed with her brother, looked at him and nodded, looking at the rain that was dripping down her hands.

"It's magical, just look how beautiful it looks and sounds. So calming yet powerful at the same time.

Misty and I were too busy giving each other questioning looks to see that the other two little Ketchum's had found their wellington boots and had joined their siblings in the rain. When my red headed best friend finally noticed, her expression was absolutely appalled.

"No, James, Jessika, you two will definitely catch colds!" she gasped, running a hand through her hair before glaring at Ash.

I noticed that he was unfazed by this, most likely because he received death stares from his wife almost every day.

"Lighten up, Mist. We're enjoying nature and the simplicity of life."

Misty was not satisfied with Ash's unusually smart words and she placed her hands on her hips in an annoyed fashion.

When I saw she was about to bite his head off once again, I stopped her and gave her a small smile.

Ash and your children are enjoying rain and that's water. Shouldn't you be pleased they too are interested in one of your most favourite things?

The aquamarine orbed female pondered for a few seconds before grabbing her wellies out from the cupboard under the stairs and tugging them on. Seeing my excited smile, she lifted me onto her shoulder and we joined the rest of the family in the rain.

Ash beamed at his wife and squeezed her hand when he had seen she had finally warmed to his idea. I saw her squeeze his hand back and shut her eyes as she too enjoyed the rain dripping down her body.

"Isn't it wonderful?" Ash sighed, speaking to his family although he didn't look at any of them. "When you're going through everyday life and experience stress, sadness and anger, you forget the simplest things. It doesn't matter who we are or how much money we have, we can all appreciate nature."

I smiled slightly, glancing at Ash through my rain splattered eyelids. He had sure grown up a lot and that was obvious judging by the speech he just gave. He was still just as passionate about the outdoors as when I first met him, however.

Turning my gaze to each and every member of the family, my smile couldn't help but increase even more. We were not a perfect family, as that doesn't exist. But we share lots of smiles, laughs; we encourage and always accept one and other, no matter what the circumstances. We may not be perfect in the rest of the world's eyes, but we were my kind of perfect. And I loved them all dearly.

The End.

There you go! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed even though it's a little different for me :3 I will be back next Friday to update Dear Daddy because it's the 28th and mine and my TT's anniversary :3
