Hey :P It's Wednesday so of course I'm back with a new chapter. I wrote this one for the start of the year but completely forgot about it until now so I decided to upload it today. Better late than never I guess. It was originally for New Years and that was a bit ago now so I edited it and changed the ending a little :P I hope you enjoy :3

Ages:

Ash: 28

Misty: 28

Ben: 8

Katie: 8

James (Ketchum): 2

Jessika (Ketchum): 1

Disclaimer: I own Ash's kids and the story :3

"Benjamin Ketchum, for the last time, will you stop playing your game console at the table?!"

Misty's irritated tone was retorted by her son looking at her with those big brown famous puppy eyes of his and he stuck his bottom lip out.

"But I'm caught in the middle of the game…" he pouted before ignoring her once again and returning to clicking the buttons furiously.

Misty and I glanced at each other and sighed. Dinner time had always been hectic in the Ketchum household but now their children could answer back, it was even worse. I was eating on top of the kitchen counter and so had an excellent view of what was going on.

Ben finally snapped his console shut and picked up his fork, beginning to eat. The family were eating some meat that was proving too difficult for the raven haired boy to cut. Suddenly, the food flew across the table and landed near Katie's plate.

"Ugh, Ben!" she growled, picking up the meat and slapping it back down on his plate so the gravy splattered onto his t shirt. "You could have messed up my drawing!"

Upon hearing this, Misty glanced up from feeding baby Jessika to look at her other daughter. I noticed her eyebrow was beginning to shake and braced myself. She could blow at any minute.

"Katie…" she began sweetly, covering up her irritation with a fake smile. "Why are you drawing at the table exactly?"

The orange haired little girl just shrugged and began sketching on her notebook that was to the left of her plate.

"I got an idea and so I have to do it quickly before I forget. That's what Uncle-"

Misty cut off her daughter with a large sigh, looking at her with unimpressed eyes.

"Katie, I don't want to know which Uncle is to blame for you drawing at the family dinner table but would you please stop? Ben did put his console away eventually."

I couldn't help but smirk as I saw Ben snicker. Glancing under the table, I saw that he was once again playing it but under the table so his mother couldn't see. Well, that what he thought.

Katie knew what her brother was up to as well but didn't want to snitch. She didn't want to listen to her mother either, however, and continued shading in her art work.

Misty gave up on the two for a few moments to return her attention to Jessika. She hummed quietly to herself as she spooned whisked up dinner into the youngest Ketchum child's mouth. I couldn't help but feel smug as I returned to my pokemon food. I was glad she was eating that stuff and not me.

Eventually the red haired woman stopped feeding Jessika and turned her attention to James. He had eaten a little bit but seemed more interested in glancing between his two older siblings. She smiled and stroked his chestnut coloured locks.

"Don't worry, buddy, I think their bickering is over for now."

I couldn't help but smile lovingly as the little boy nodded and went back to slowly feeding himself his own meal. He sure was a worrier and even though he was two, he hated tension. He wanted everybody to get along.

The dinnertime carried on and Misty continued to tell her children to stop drawing and playing their consoles and they kept pretending to listen but carried on anyway. There were no raised voices until little Jessika thought it would be a good idea to begin throwing her brother James' food at the older two.

Katie stood up and glared at her baby sister in horror as this time her drawing had in fact been ruined and covered in mash potato.

"Ugh, Jessika, I'm going to kill you!"

Misty looked at her oldest daughter in horror as she went to lunge at the little girl and had to hold her back from doing so.

"Ben, make sure the little ones don't get hurt please!"

When she was once again ignored by the little boy, the red haired woman just groaned and pushed Katie back in her seat after giving her a firm telling off.

Chaos happened for a few minutes but it soon returned to quite a peaceful dinner. Now that her drawing was ruined, Katie no longer wanted to draw and Ben didn't want to risk his console getting splattered so that had been put away.

Now that all was calm in the room, Misty finally turned to her husband who had been quiet the whole mealtime.

"You're not talking Ash, are you-"

I glanced up when I heard Misty cut off the middle of her sentence and my eyes went to Ash when hers did.

"Ash…" she began sweetly before hissing at the raven haired man. "Why on earth are you texting at the table, you know we don't do that!"

Ash dismissed his wife with a wave of his hand. I gulped when Misty let out a similar growl to that which Katie had done at the beginning of the meal. Oh no, Ash. You did not just do that.

Misty's eyebrow began twitching even more before she snatched Ash's phone from him and hid it in her own pocket.

"Ugh, Mist!" Ash whined, sticking out his bottom lip and making his eyes go huge. "Gary was telling me about a new pokemon they may have discovered."

Oh, so that's where Ben got his pouting from.

"I don't care, Ketchum. There's no texting at the table, you know that. No wonder Ben won't put away his console and Katie thinks it is okay to draw!"

After Ash mumbled that she was now a Ketchum as well and Misty gave him a death stare, peace was once again restored. I sighed with relief as I could finally eat my own meal in peace. Or so I thought.

Misty's own phone was set on the table next to her plate and it began flashing multiple times as dozens of messages came in. Katie beamed as she saw the name that was texting her mother.

"Uncle James!"

Ash stopped eating to look at Misty with first a glare but it soon changed to a look of snootiness as he stuck his nose in the air.

"I thought you said we don't text at the table?"

Before Misty could reply to her husband, Katie butted in and answered for her.

"Actually daddy, mommy is receiving texts and not texting herself to technically she isn't breaking any rules."

I smirked as Misty and Katie high fived while Ash just pouted and quietly returned to his own dinner.

The New Year had been just over a month ago and everyone always makes such a big deal out of it being a new start that it causes people anxiety. In reality, for the Ketchum household and most likely everyone else, nothing had really changed. We were still the bickering, pouting, sassing, eating and laughing kind of people we had been the previous year and we were going to carry on relaxing and taking each day as it comes.

The End.

There you go! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 It is Valentine's Day next Saturday and I will be uploading a special little oneshot so see you then :P Thanks again!
