Hello :P It's Wednesday so it's time for my usual update. This one is a little different and maybe a bit more modern. It's inspired by all those youtubers who do best friend tags and stuff :P I hope you enjoy!
Ages:
Ash: 17
Misty: 17
James: 24
Disclaimer: I own the story :3
Ash, Misty, James and I were call sat cross legged on the carpet. Misty was sat in the middle with a buzzer on her lap with James on her left and Ash on her right. I was sat opposite them all. This is an unusual scene, I'll grant you that, but the situation is perfectly normal.
Misty was feeling bored while Ash was at work and so invited her best friend James over to hangout and eat pizza. Ash and I had recently come from training and my raven haired best friend burst in on the two after smelling the savoury cheese and tomato scent. He tried to snatch the last slice but James was adamant it was his after Misty was seemingly full. The lavender haired male wasn't naturally competitive but it was a natural instinct to go up against Ash after all those years of trying to catch me.
So here we were, six o'clock in the evening in the Ketchum residence and the two males competing in a quiz of who knows Misty the most. The winner got to eat the last slice of pizza.
"Sorry James, that point goes to Ash." Misty shrugged at her best friend as he lost the question of how old was Misty when she got her ears pierced.
Ash was clearly happy with his small victory over the older male and couldn't help jumping up to do a combination of a dance and a wiggle. James just scowled over at him while playing with his rings.
I wondered if the scowl was from losing the question or Ash's terrible bottom wiggling.
"Okay, next question…" Misty began, clearing her throat to indicate Ash must sit down before she could continue. "What's my favourite meal of the day?"
Ash paused before sticking his hand up as if he was in class. He obviously had a question.
"You mean as in breakfast, lunch or dinner?"
The orange haired female was about to answer her boyfriend when James chose to interrupt, his eyebrow raised in an unimpressed way.
"No, Ash, she means by asking her favourite meal, she obviously wants you to tell her her favourite colour." He sighed in a sarcastic way before chucking a pillow at his head. "Of course she means breakfast, lunch or dinner, you imbecile."
Misty rolled her eyes and consoled Ash while he pouted before picking up her card of questions once again.
"Settle down you two and answer the question."
I watched as the raven haired male glanced at James, pretending to be fearful to open his mouth once again. I couldn't help but smirk at all of them. They were all such big kids and I adored it.
James folded his arms and rested his head on Misty's shoulder, pretending to snuggle into her and gain her love.
"I of course know that it is not breakfast, lunch or dinner. You love pudding." He nodded in a proud way before reaching out to pinch his best friend's cheek. "I would also like to add that you are looking simply lovely this evening."
Misty nodded to show the green orbed male had won the point this time before shoving his head off her shoulder.
"Yeah, well done James, I do love pudding the best."
James looked smugly over at Ash and I glanced over to see what expression Ash had on his face this time. The younger male soon got over his little loss and his chocolate orbs turned sparkly.
"Ooh, I love pudding too! Do you think we could get some?"
James sniggered at Ash's choice of words and Misty put her hand over his mouth to stifle his laugh before turning her attention back to her boyfriend.
"No, Ash, you and James are competing for the last slice of pizza, remember?"
Misty's expression towards Ash was the most perfect mix of exasperation and adoration. No matter how simple or childish he acted, she always loved him with all of her heart.
After James having to slap Ash's hand away from the remaining slice of pizza while Misty selected the last question, it was finally time to reveal the winner.
"You two are all tied up so the winner of this is the winner of the slice of pizza…" she paused before glancing between her two favourite males, a smirk gracing her pretty, young face. "You will also be the winner of my heart because whoever loses is no longer worthy of being in my life."
I couldn't help but giggle to myself as Ash must have knew she was joking but narrowed his eyes determinedly in James' direction anyway. James returned Ash's expression by wiping his brow and smirking at Misty.
"Yes, this is my chance to escape! I might as well lose on purpose so I can finally get rid of you."
The orange haired young lady gave her best friend a pretend punch on the nose to eliminate his smug expression and they were soon ready to answer the final question.
"Okay, like I said, the winner gets the pizza…" she repeated herself to create more tension before slowly reading aloud the question on the card. "What's my middle name?"
James and Ash stopped engaging in the punching match they were secretly doing behind Misty's back and looked at each other in a bewildered fashion. Even I was baffled.
The only one not confused was Misty and she looked quite offended indeed.
"C'mon you guys! What's my middle name?"
Ash opened his mouth to answer but nothing came out, his expression getting even more confused as time passed.
"Mist, I'm pretty sure you don't even have a middle name."
"Yeah, you've certainly never mentioned one to me anyway." James added to Ash's confusion, finally agreeing with him for once.
I shrugged my shoulders when Misty gave me an exasperated look. I didn't want to get involved, I was sure something bad was going to happen soon enough.
"Oh yeah guys, I forgot to mention that you have to press the buzzer for this question when you have the answer. But you can only press it if you have a valid answer, got it?"
Misty could barely finish her sentence as both Ash and James went to prod the bell, sending it flying halfway across the room.
"Hey, hey, James get off, I get to answer this question first!"
"No you don't, you already have the victory of being with my best friend so I think she would want me to have a go!"
Both Misty and I couldn't help but laugh at the lavender haired male's failed attempt of sweetening Misty up so she would let him answer first.
Both Ash and James went on arguing over who pressed the button first and called out all sorts of ridiculous names, hoping at least one would be correct.
Misty must have seen me looking longingly at the last slice of pizza and grinned at me, splitting it down the middle. I beamed gratefully at her as she handed me half and she had the other to herself.
"It'll be hours before they notice it's gone and we can always distract them with more food!"
I giggled and curled up on Misty's lap as Ash jumped on James' back and James trying to tug on his black locks in return.
The truth was, it didn't actually matter who knew Misty the most and not because the pizza was gone and it was useless fighting over. No, it didn't matter because both Ash and James were good people in all of our lives and good friendships certainly make life a whole lot more fun. And in this case, a whole lot more competitive.
The End.
There you go! Thanks so much and I hope you enjoyed even if it was a bit different :3 I love the interactions between Ash, Misty and James which is why I seem to write about it a lot :P Thanks again and I will be back next Wednesday as normal :3
