Hello :P It is Wednesday so I am back with a new update. This one is yet another festive one and was originally meant to to be kind of funny and the guys reaction to what they all saw but it turned really Pokeshippy and I'm glad I went in that direction T.T I hope you all enjoy :P
Ages:
Ash: 19
Misty: 19
Cameron: 18
Gary: 20
James: 26
Disclaimer: I own only the story, obviously not the song :P
It was just a few short days before Christmas and in the Ketchum residence, the house was already glowing with love and buzzing with activity. We were blessed that the world was already covered in a white blanket and snow was still sprinkling down at that moment. It was always festive where our family was concerned but it just kept on getting better and better every year.
While everyone was downstairs spreading the joy and past Christmas stories, Ash and I had snuck upstairs to find Misty. We discovered her in the room that was soon to be the Ketchum twin babies' nursery when they came into this world in February. Ash stuck his nose through the crack and I did the same from being perched on his shoulder.
"Oh the weather outside is frightful but the fire is so delightful. And since we're no place to go. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."
We both watched as the orange haired female sang softly and to herself it seemed, glancing out the window as perfect snowflakes drifted down and laid to rest on the ledge.
Ash took a deep breath of love and listened to his girlfriend as she began to sing some more.
"When we finally kiss goodnight, how I'll hate going out in the storm."
My raven haired best friend was too enamoured by Misty's secret talent that he didn't see that Cameron had got bored of the activities downstairs and come up to see where he had go to.
"What are we looking at?" he glanced at Ash, talking in what was meant to be a whisper but was pretty loud if you asked me.
I smirked fondly as Ash jumped before wrapping an arm around his friend's neck and pressing his palm to his mouth to quieten him.
"We're listening to Misty sing and shhh!" he hissed at the slightly younger male before shoving him towards the crack in the door so he too could have a peep.
"But if you really hold me tight. All the way home I'll be warm."
At this point, all three of us were watching Misty sing to herself, clearly oblivious to the fact she had a growing amount of audience members. Cameron didn't have quite the same love-struck reaction as Ash and soon enough went downstairs when he heard the horrors of turkeys being eaten had been mentioned.
Shaking my head at the childlike teenager, I soon returned to listening to Misty sing and holding onto Ash's ear so I could peep further into the room without toppling off my platform.
I would like to say that I had seen Ash look at his girlfriend like this many times because it was no question he was in love with her. After all, they had been together almost four years and had twin babies on the way. This look was different but I couldn't describe how. His eyes were lighting up with pride and his mouth couldn't help but beam in between mouthing along the lyrics.
I was too busy watching my in love best friend that I didn't see Gary Oak come up behind Ash and give him quite the horrific wedgie. I managed to stuff my tail in Ash's mouth before he could let out a loud scream and blow our cover. My actions were smart I thought but this just amused Gary all the more.
He smirked as Ash went slightly red from the shock and embarrassment that he had been caught.
"Damn, Ashton, I haven't seen you that in love since you saw all the lovely food your mom has prepared downstairs."
Ash just rolled his eyes and went back to listening to Misty, wanting to savour the special moment and hoping that Gary would get bored or tormenting him and leave. He didn't, however, and I watched him listen too with quite the impressed look on his face.
"The fire is slowly dying and, my dear; we're still goodbye-ing."
Gary caught my eye and couldn't help but smirk even more when Ash continued mouthing along with his girlfriend. It wasn't the smirk he usually gave off. This smirk was that of how he always knew his best friend had a thing for Misty and that he was glad they were together and had a family of their own on their way.
We all watched as Misty slowly made her way from the window sill to sit in the nursery rocking chair and began to rock in a motherly rhythm. We all held our breaths in case we were caught out.
"But as long as you love me so. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."
Our group of three was too busy listening to Misty and secretly humming inside our heads along to her angelic voice that we didn't notice an extra person had joined us.
Unlike the other two, this man was more quiet and sensitive and didn't like to draw attention to himself. He leaned one arm on the wall and began listening as well.
"When we finally kiss goodnight, how I'll hate going out in the storm."
At this point, Gary had begun getting slightly bored at her soothing tones and began poking Ash to distract him. James, who had just joined us, could see by Ash's face he wanted to cherish this moment and pretended to yawn, secretly sending his future son in law away.
"Brock arrived before I left. I sure hope he doesn't hit on any of my daughters."
Upon hearing this, Gary snapped into action and ran a hand through his spiky locks, rushing downstairs to prevent the heavily pregnant Jayme from being even so much as looked at by Brock.
Ash just laughed quietly at his best friend's reaction before smiling at James gratefully. James just nodded back at him and patted his shoulder understandingly.
Soon it was just the two of them watching their girlfriend and best friend.
"But if you really hold me tight. All the way home I'll be warm."
We just watched Misty shut her eyes and rock slowly back and forth, Ash being unable to take his eyes of his girlfriend who was so ready for motherhood. Aside from the loving look on his face, I could also see the pride in James' eyes. He knew her maternal side was about to make her one of the best mother's in the world.
James smiled at Ash and nudged him to get his attention, whispering so Misty still wouldn't see them.
"She has an amazing voice, huh?"
Ash reacted as if he himself had been complimenting and nodded his head fiercely, beaming upon hearing these words. James laughed fondly and listened as Misty hummed instead of sang a few of the lyrics this time.
Soon enough but after a bit longer than the others, James needed a change of setting and headed downstairs to see how his own family was doing. I was proud that other people had seen Misty's motherly and tender side in action but I wished they had stayed a bit longer.
Then they all would have seen the adorable moment of Misty stroking her bump and addressing the babies inside her before returning to singing to them.
It hadn't occurred to us that Misty was singing to them and it made Ash and I melt all the more.
If his expression was a picture before then I don't know how to describe the one that was on his face at that moment. I just watched my best friend with my own heart clenching, knowing exactly what he was thinking.
For years, Ash's Christmases had just been his mother and a few other people. He got lucky and was able to spend them with lots of other people and all over the world while we were on our journeys. Only two of these, however, were with Misty and he missed her more than usual at the holiday season. Once they both turned sixteen, their Christmases became united once again as their hearts did too. From that year onward, we have spent Christmas together and with our extended family.
I could see Ash was reflecting on all those festive days without her but that didn't matter anymore because now they were together and next Christmas, two more little Ketchums would be present. Two beautiful babies that they made together with love. I didn't know if Ash believed in angels but on that day it didn't matter if he did or not. Watching Misty sing a Christmas song and stroke her belly in the most motherly way possible, both of us knew exactly what she was. Misty was Ash's Christmas angel. And he was never letting her go.
The End.
There you go! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 Like I said, it wasn't meant to be that Pokeshippy but I'm happy with the way it turned out. Those two are so perfect for each other and I love going back to how I started on Fanfiction and writing about them T.T I hope you enjoy reading about them too :3 Thanks again and I will be back next Wednesday again for another winter fic :P
AmyBieberKetchum signing out :3
