It was a beautiful sunny day in June and inside the house of Mrs Ketchum was filled with warmth and love. It was Father's Day and three of the father's I knew and Cameron were sat in the living room while they waited to head into the garden to celebrate the special day together and with their wives and children.

I sat on the window sill, my fur tingling with the sun rays and adoration for all the male's that were engaging in chatter. Ash, James and Gary were all sat on the sofa together, phones in their hands and showing one and other photos.

Ash smiled proudly and waved his phone in his hand to get the attention of the other guys.

"Look at this video of Katie. She's already so smart like her mother." He let off a beam at the mention of his daughter and glanced at the screen before letting James take his phone to watch and show Gary.

I was there when the video was filmed and knew it was the little girl reciting the alphabet perfectly at the age of not even three years old. My heart swelled with love at the memory and Ash's did watching his girl impress him for the thousandth time.

James smiled at Ash after watching the video of his goddaughter, his own eyes filling with even more love when his finger flicked through the photos on his own phone. He handed Ash's phone back to him before Gary put his hand on his future father in laws shoulder.

"Hey wait a second, was that Jazzy then?" he asked, glancing at James and waiting for him to scroll back to find the picture he had passed. When James got the photo back up on the screen, his green eyes grew even softer.

"Yeah, that's my girl."

Upon hearing this, Ash put his phone to the left of him on the sofa and reached across to glance at the photo when Gary did. The raven haired male just smiled and observed while Gary gasped slightly, his finger rubbing one of the spikes of his hair.

"I didn't know if that was her or Jessie or even Jessie's mom when she was younger…" he uttered to the older male, his eyes full of awe. "She looks so grown up. I remember when she was so small and I dressed up as the Easter bunny for her."

Ash laughed out loud at the memory of this while James just continued looking with tenderness at the photo of his little girl.

"Hey, remember that?" Ash smirked, reaching behind James to whack Gary lightly and playfully on the shoulder. "You didn't even have to get false bunny teeth, what does that say about you?"

Gary narrowed his eyes and shoved Ash's arm away. He was about to open his mouth and come back with a smart retort when he saw James was still continuing to be quiet and in love with his family. The auburn haired researcher smiled slightly at his future father in law and saw he probably wanted to gush about Jazzy. He stopped shoving Ash and put his hand on his shoulder, looking back at the photo of his girlfriend's little sister.

"I dressed up for her when she must have been about four years old. I can't believe that little girl is nearing ten next birthday."

Ash just nodded and went back to looking at pictures of his own little girl while James turned to smile at Gary, nodding in agreement and sighing lovingly.

"Yeah she's so grown up and sophisticated too. She can run circles around her old dad and she knows she's got me wrapped around her pinky too."

When James smirked, Gary copied and reached for his own phone to get out a photo of his own little daughter.

"Tell me about it. Melissa wants to know the answer to everything and she seems to always ask the questions her daddy doesn't really know how to answer." He let out a few laughs of love before showing James a photo of his daughter and the lavender haired male's granddaughter.

James smiled and stopped looking at Jazmyn and turned to study Melissa.

"Aw bless her. Our girl is so pretty."

Upon hearing this, the confident Mr Oak's cheeks blushed slightly pink with pride and he nodded in agreement. James couldn't help but tease the younger male for quietly showing his sensitive side and he gave him a gentle whack.

"She lucked out and got the Morgan genes."

Gary was about to wrinkle his nose and come back with a remark when Ash suddenly beamed and shoved his arm into the other guys' faces to show them a photo.

"Look at Katie again. She's pretty like her mommy too."

The auburn haired male playfully shoved Ash off for almost laying across their laps while James furrowed his brow when he saw Cameron was just sat on the other sofa and twiddling his headband.

I couldn't help but smile fondly at this. Those three guys worked well together despite the numbers but sometimes they would split into two and one. Ash and Gary were playful and best best friends while James could always tell when someone was being left out.

James stopped furrowing his brow and smiled, moving closer to Gary on the sofa and patting next to him for the youngest male.

"Come here, Cam."

These were just three simple words but the childlike male's face lit up and he bounded over to his future father in law and sat next to him on the sofa. His cheeks were slightly pink with the excitement of being included.

"I didn't want to intrude. You guys were all talking about your daughters."

James gave Cameron a smile while Ash's expression grew playful from wrestling with Gary to mischievous in anticipation of him teasing James. I gave my best friend a slight look. Did he really want to do that? He always seemed to be able to own James for a few seconds before he got him back ten times worse.

Ash stopped grinning and looked between James and Cameron with wide and innocent eyes.

"Sorry we didn't include you, buddy. Are you hoping that you're going to be a father by next father's day?"

Cameron's expression grew soft and sheepish at this and he rubbed the back of his neck while James' mouth fell open. Soon his jaw clenched in quite the protective way.

"Hey, keep those hands off my daughter."

I shook my head fondly as Ash cackled with laughter while Cameron looked appalled that he had caused his future father in laws mood to change. James truly was a man with many sides. Most of the time he was quiet and easy going but when he wanted to and if the right words were said, he could change to bold and very guarding of his girls.

Gary saw me shaking my head in fondness and copied my actions. He then changed the subject before James' face could flush with protectiveness of his second eldest daughter.

He smirked between Ash and James.

"So what do you guys think is the best thing about having a daughter?"

As if by magic, these simple words lead to some deep thinking for them and Ash stopped cackling while James' expression cooled all the more as each second passed.

Ash and James thought for a minute before my best friend caught sight of his lock screen that was his children and he grew even softer.

"There are so many things to choose from. Being a father is a blessing in general but having a girl especially is wonderful because I can't wait to raise a strong woman who knows her worth and what she is capable off."

James smiled and nodded in agreement, even using Cameron's left shoulder as an arm rest to show that everything was cool between them once again.

"Yeah, I agree with Ash there. I'm just so glad that I evened out as she got older and that she will hopefully remember me as a stable and secure influence in her life, rather than someone screwing everything up."

Ash could see James' brow was beginning to furrow as he remembered the past. I'd like to think that my best friend didn't want him to grow sad as he remembered some mistakes and teased him to lighten him up.

"Gary asked the best thing about having a daughter, Jimmy, not the timing of her in your life."

The lavender haired man glanced at Ash for a second before he stuck out his tongue at him, running a hand through his hair.

"Okay, the best thing about having a daughter. For me that would be being able to teach each other things despite being completely different from one and other. Pre-teen girls and fathers could not be more different."

I saw Gary smirk slightly at this as his hand moved to play with his front spike.

"Yeah, I can imagine that." He mused before he stopped smirking and grew thoughtful when he saw it was time for his answer. "I love having a girl so I can teach her what a real man would do to see her happy."

James blinked slightly at Gary Oak's mature answer before smiling approvingly and patting him on the shoulder. His other hand was still on Cameron's shoulder to assure him he could pipe up if he wanted.

"My turn to ask a question. What's one thing your little girl has taught you?"

Ash and Gary grew thoughtful for a moment but soon enough they had their answers. Gary smiled, glancing between all the guys as they spoke.

"Melissa has taught me that it's the free things in life that are truly important. Friends, family, my Jayme, Eddie and of course her."

Ash smiled in admiration at his best friend's answer and he reached to pat his back before answering himself.

"Katie's always been kinda stubborn like both her mommy and me so she's taught me that the best things in life don't come easy."

Gary laughed slightly at this while James smiled at the younger male, playing with his hair.

"Yeah, those two points are very good." He said to them and himself before pondering his own answer. "I think all my girls and boys have taught me this but I'd say Jazzy especially has taught me that it's okay to do things that are labelled as girly. It kills me to think maybe six years ago she would have asked to paint my nails and I would have said no because I was so messed up myself. But now I couldn't care less. She could put cherry lipstick on me and apple scented nail polish and I would be over the moon to just have that time spent with her."

Everyone grew slightly quiet for a few moments after that as they reflected on their own and everybody else's words. After the silence and reflection had passed, Gary and James leaned contentedly back into the sofa cushions while Ash gave Cameron a smile.

"So, buddy, has all this made you want to be a father more or less?"

Gary raised an eyebrow at James to see if he would react like he did before but this time he just glanced at Cameron, interested for his answer. The khaki haired male laughed sheepishly and his hand went to the back of his neck.

"Well I don't know if it's made me want kids more or less but it's definitely made me want to be like all of you." He put his hands back to his lap before smiling sincerely at the other guys. "I want to be an enthusiastic father like Ash, a wise one like James and a fun one like Gary."

James looked somewhat shocked and flattered by Cameron's words but he smiled at him, reaching to pat his knee lightly.

"You will be a dad like you, Cameron."

Gary nodded upon hearing this while Ash smiled, his eyes squeezing shut happily as he nodded along with his best friend to another good friend.

"Yeah, all fathers are wonderful as long as they do what's in their heart. It doesn't matter if you're enthusiastic or wise or fun or strict or laid back. Your daughter will steal your heart from the moment she is born and there is no going back from that. And you will never want to. You are her first love and you will love her forever. It is the greatest gift in the entire world."

I sighed to myself and curled up in the son while all the father's in the room and Cameron smiled at one and other and shared stories and their love for their little girl's and future little girls.

I didn't tell Ash, James, Gary and Cameron that day but like they had many times and they would many times more, they had made me beyond proud. Ash had gone from rash to making smart decisions for his daughter's future. James had gone from having nothing to everything and his daughter loved him the entire time. Gary had gone from a ladies man to only caring about his own little girl. And Cameron at that point had a gigantic heart and I knew once he became a father, he would give his heart to his little girl.

There are so many types of father's but it doesn't matter what they are because they are all important. They are so special and have such a positive influence that there's a whole day dedicated to them. So, fathers, have a very happy day. Happy Father's Day.

The End.

There you go! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :P I remember I wrote something very similar to this probably in about 2014 about the guys being fathers but it certainly wasn't as established and in depth. I enjoyed writing the interactions between the four guys and what their different outlooks and answers would be :3 Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. I would say I have a closer bond with my mother and more deep chats with her but I hope I make my dad proud and I want to be as kind and gentle as he is. He's a very selfless person :) Thanks again and I will be back next Wednesday so see you then!
