Hello :P It is Wednesday and I am back with a new chapter. On Wednesday last week when I was coming back from a walk with my mum, I realised that this year I hadn't written a summer themed chapter. After talking to AAML-TAML about our usual stuff and headcanons, I came up with this. We headcanon that after going on holiday to Alola, a Popplio takes a shine to Misty all holiday then sneaks back on the plane back home to Kanto with her. It becomes her cute new pal and Ash's rival when it loves watermelon as much as he does. And yes, we also have this funny joke that Ash's favourite fruit is watermelon and he most certainly will not share it :P I hope you enjoy!

Ages:

Ash: 22

Professor Oak: 72

Disclaimer: I own the story and the OC's with AAML-TAML.

It was a beautiful day on a beach in the Alola Region. The bird Pokémon were chirping happily to mark the peaceful day and water Pokémon were bobbing peacefully in and under the calm water. I sighed happily. Times like these just did not get any better.

I glanced up from sitting quietly under a tree with Delia and Professor Oak to watch the scenes that were taking place. All of the children were either laughing together or playing together or chatting peacefully in the shade. I looked to my right and Misty was happily rubbing sun cream all down her boyfriend's arms and making her way to his hands. To my left was Jessie and James sunbathing on a picnic blanket with hats on their heads and sunglasses covering their eyes. Gary was off jotting down notes about some Pokémon he may or may not have seen and Jayme happily went off with him. Last but not least, Cameron and Jayde were making their own sandcastle and as happy in their activity as the little ones were. I was truly lucky.

I was about to close my eyes and enjoy the serenity once again when out of nowhere, Ash sat bolt upright and let out a whine. He huffed and pointed to a spot on the sand where the side met it.

"Look!" he cried out in horror, his cheeks flushing and puffing up with the shock and betrayal. "Misty, your Popplio has stolen my melon slices again!"

James also sat bolt upright about hearing this but for different reasons. He lowered his sunglasses and gave Misty a smirk to which she returned. She tried to look sympathetically at Ash but this had been happening all holiday and was incredibly amusing to her.

My raven haired best friend noticed his girlfriend's bemused look and grew all the more flushed from betrayal and the sun that was beating down on his face. He folded his arms and stuck his nose in the air.

"Wow, Mist, just wow. I would expect James to laugh at my misfortunes…" he trailed off to shoot James a glare to which the older male showed no reaction to before carrying on what he was saying. "…But I wouldn't expect it from you, it's just mean."

Misty jokingly stuck her bottom lip out at Ash's dramatic tone and sighed gently, reaching to pat his shoulder to show it was a serious thing.

"There, there, Ashy…" she muttered soothingly in a way that she would to Ben or Katie, causing everyone to pull a face and go back to what they were doing. She ignored the looks and especially from her best friend and continued comforting Ash. "Rupert isn't eating your melon-"

"Yet." He interjected, his own bottom lip sticking out and his brown orbs going towards where the Alolan seal Pokémon was balancing the fruit on his nose and doing tricks.

Misty couldn't help but smile lovingly at her dear new Pokémon were going back to looking softly at Ash when he let out another huff.

"He won't eat your melon, I promise. Let me just finish doing your sun cream then I'll get it off him if he takes so much as a bite."

Ash let out another grumble but soon nodded like a toddler and rested his head back on Misty's lap. My raven haired best friend's girlfriend let out a happy sigh and went back to rubbing the cream in, paying special attention to his fingers.

Once again, peace was restored. I put my head back on the sand and shut my eyes to snooze. I was soon interrupted by Delia sitting up from against the tree she was leaning against. She glanced between Ash and Misty and over to James, a secret smirk on her face. Oh no. I knew she had an idea.

Delia took off her sun hat and pretended to fan herself down with it. She took off her glasses and looked over to where James was lying with his arms behind his head.

She couldn't help but let out a giggle as she spoke to him.

"You know, James, I could do what Misty is doing to Ash, to you. If that's what you'd like."

Upon hearing these words, James sat bolt upright again and took off his glasses, quickly glancing to check what exactly his best friend was doing to her boyfriend. When he saw it was only applying sun cream, he relaxed slightly before rolling onto his side, propping himself up by one elbow as he spoke to the older female. He raised one eyebrow as he looked at her.

"I'm sorry?" he asked, choosing the option to play innocent rather than encourage her actions at that moment in time.

Delia let out another giggle and ignored the sigh from Professor Oak as she continued to blush in James' direction.

"I could put sun cream on for you. We don't want your soft and tattooed skin burning, do we now?"

Upon hearing her attempt at a husky tone, James grew mildly pale despite the sun while his wife let out a snort. He narrowed his eyes at Jessie finding it amusing before giving Delia a smile. The sun and company of his wife and family put him in a good mood so he was happy to be playful.

He smiled at Delia before lying back down on his back; his arms moving behind his head to support himself but the older female took it as she wanted him to check his arms and tattoos out. He left his sunglasses off and squinted over at her, still smiling.

"No, you're alright, love. I'm hoping to be as tanned as Ash by the end of the day."

This was clear rejection but all the same, Delia beamed at what James just called her while I smirked. I glanced at Ash and both Misty and I giggled that he hadn't noticed his mother trying to flirt with James but he had noticed the last comment. Ash was scowling.

"Yeah." Ash scoffed, lifting his head up from Misty's lap and moving his hands away to show he wanted her to stop rubbing them. He ignored her pout and continued narrowing his eyes. "James wishes he could be as tanned and fit as me."

James nodded sarcastically at Ash and was about to open his mouth when he caught sight of his best friend's Popplio and smirked. He chose instead to lay back down and casually point in the direction of the Pokemon. Ash blinked in confusion, clearly not understanding what James was trying to do. When everyone else pointed a finger towards the seal, Ash glanced before gasping in horror.

He stood up and ran towards the Pokémon, his arms flailing as he realised Rupert was about to take a giant bite out of his favourite fruit.

"My melon!" he cried in betrayal, quickly snatching the watermelon away and causing Popplio to let out a hiss and glance towards Misty or James or anyone for comfort.

Gary was just returning from his Pokémon research and saw his best friend clutching the fruit protectively and Misty cuddling Rupert to calm him down. He knew exactly what was going on. Like I said, it had been taking place the entire holiday.

He had a secret smirk on his face before he pretended to sigh sadly and pat Ash on the back.

"Don't you worry, Ashy Boy, I know exactly how we can protect this precious fruit of yours."

Ash sniffed, his eyes wide and innocent. He was desperate to keep his food for himself. He didn't even have to ask how and just watched as Gary crouched down and began digging a hole in the ground with his hands. While doing it, the auburn haired male glanced over and caught his future father in laws eyes. James looked back and soon smirked, standing up and coming to help them.

"Now that's an idea…" he muttered out innocently as he too crouched down and began digging in the sand with his hands.

I shook my head fondly at the secretly smirking Gary and James and the innocent Ash. Those two both loved to torture my best friend and often did it together so no doubt did they have the same idea in mind.

Cameron had no idea what was going on but he pressed a quick kiss to Jayde's forehead before coming over to help the other guys. He didn't know what the plan was but if James was digging, he wanted to as well.

Ash watched while James, Gary and Cameron dug quite the large hole in the sand. I couldn't help but notice that James was the best at digging and noted to myself that it was probably from digging all those tunnels and pit traps back in the day. I began reminiscing those old days and thinking of the past. When I came back to the future, the boys were standing back proudly and pointing to the deep hole.

Gary clicked his fingers and smirked, nudging Ash gently towards it to take a peek. Ash raised a slight eyebrow and glanced between each of the boys and the hole multiple times.

"It's good and everything but it's really big. I mean, sadly I only have a few slices of melon to go in there."

James looked at Ash innocently, running a hand through his hair.

"Who said anything about the melon going in there?"

I laughed out loud and before Ash could do anything, Gary knocked the watermelon out of Ash's hand and threw it to Popplio before helping make a grab for him with James and dumping him in the hole.

Ash gasped and protested like a toddler as James and Gary buried him in the hole while Cameron just watched, gasping as well.

"Oh you're so naughty!" Cameron exclaimed like a toddler, half in shock and half in awe as Ash's body grew quickly covered.

My raven haired best friend turned his neck to look for Misty and he let out a whine. To his horror, she approached with a camera and Rupert under her arm eating his watermelon.

Ash chose to shut his eyes instead, not looking at her. He wasn't looking at anyone as he got buried right up to his neck.

"Wow, just wow. I've been betrayed by the world." He sighed dramatically, keeping his eyes shut and not noticing the side was slowly coming in.

Ash continued sighing and speaking dramatic words while everyone else laughed and pointed and took photos of and with him. He was like a bobble head in the sand and even I giggled. You may think we're all mean but Ash was in safe hands. Deep down even he knew none of us would let anything happen to him.

A good few minutes later and when Ash was still droning on about betrayal and how he gave life everything but got nothing back, his eyes suddenly snapped open when he felt the tide lapping at his chin. His mouth hung open and he soon spat in horror when he tasted the salt.

My best friend froze, his fists clenching together under the sand and his eyes widening as the sea grew closer and closer. The tide was going in and out and each time surrounded Ash's neck. Ash let out a small whimper as it was now just below his nose and Misty was genuinely slightly worried but she let out a cry of horror for affect.

I smirked as Ash secretly beamed at this. It was clear he was mildly worried but also knew he was safe with everyone around. He also loved the attention he was getting.

The ocean moved in and out one more time. As it came rushing towards Ash, it was clearly going to swamp his nose this time. It was inches from him when Misty glanced at the boys and let out instructions.

"Get him out you guys!"

And with that, just before Ash's nose got surrounded in water, all of the guys tugged with all of their might and got him out in time. He wasn't that deeply buried but the guys' tugs were strong. Ash beamed and certainly didn't complain when he was thrust forward and landed on top of Misty, causing her to blush.

"My hero…" he sighed happily, cuddling into her chest as he had clearly forgotten that she was the one letting Rupert eat his melon.

I laughed out loud to myself as Ash clung to Misty while Gary tugged James back at what Ash was doing to his best friend.

We were such a close group. We were all such different people and had such different views, personalities and upbringings. What we had in common was our love and respect for one and other. And boy, did we have a bucket load of that. Every single day I look at them all with admiration and adoration but it was days like these that made my heart burst. I loved them so much. And I was so damn lucky to love them.

The End.

There you go! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 I very much enjoyed including things about Misty and Popplio and Delia's flirting with James and James needing holding back when Ash loves Misty a bit too much in public. Basically all the things that make the group what they are :P The reason Alola becomes a popular holiday/couple's getaway spot for them is (besides the nice weather, water and fruit) is that in my stories, Ash stops travelling after Kalos. Me and Shannon enjoy the look of Alola so far and think Misty especially would enjoy it there :3 Thanks again and I will be back on the 28th to update Dear Darlings. See you then!
