Hello :P Sorry for not uploading last Wednesday. It was my 18th birthday on the 10th and went to my first concert on the 11th so by the 12th my brain was just not in the mood to upload. That one week off has given me time to write quite the fair amount of chapters and even a special extra one for the end of the month. I have wanted to write this one for the longest time and finally got round to it last month. It is inspired by the battle and marriage in Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End. I hope you enjoy, I enjoyed writing this a lot :3

Ages:

Ash: 16

Misty: 16

Jessie: 23

James: 23

Disclaimer: Like I said, this chapter is inspired by POTC 3. I should also add that the word "bloody" occurs twice so sorry if that offends you :P

I grinned to myself, my ears pricked and ready as ever. But today I was not battling. No, today I was refereeing and it was an extremely rare occurrence. The Pallet Town skies had turned dramatically grey towards the beginning of the battle between Ash and Misty and Jessie and James. They were skidding about on the decking of the nearby park but all eyes were narrowed determinedly. Everyone shared that same grin of admiration and respect, as well as proof they were giving it their all.

What started off as a light hearted battle – almost acting, almost roleplaying had turned into a very serious affair.

The magenta haired female smirked and glanced down at Meowth, her chosen Pokémon, before over at my orange haired best friend's girlfriend. Her arms were folded over her soon to be retired Team Rocket R on her chest and she spoke in a confident tone.

"You twerps aren't going to know what has hit you. You've got another thing coming if you think you're going to win this."

Misty narrowed her eyes competitively and smirked back. She glanced down at the confidently smiling Vaporeon that was her Pokémon before back at the older female. She was about to open her mouth and make a calm retort when her boyfriend smirked himself and stepped in.

I watched as his normally soft and round brown orbs were glinting with glee and confidence. His usually gentle smile was bared into a collected grin. He absolutely adored battles. They got his heart pumping and his palms sweating in the best possible sense. This is what he was born to do.

Despite the fact his Totodile was dancing around happily and contradicting the mood, Ash wiped his nose with his finger and continued smirking.

"We have kicked your butts every single day for as long as I remember. I think we know how to do it for the billionth time and the last time."

Misty nodded and raised an eyebrow in agreement upon hearing this. She was about to come out with a remark to back up Ash when she stopped, her expression changing when Jessie and James laughed. They smirked at one and other, shrugging confidently.

James gestured down at his beloved Growlithe before shrugging once again, flipping his hair out of his eyes.

"Oh but my dear twerps, we've been holding ourselves back for the longest time. It's our last battle as the people you've known us so we're going to give it our all." He shrugged once again, his quiet confident look being overtaken by a smirk of total reassurance as he suddenly commanded Growlie. "Growlie, use flamethrower and right on Totodile's massive head."

Jessie laughed at her partner in crime's choice of words before turning serious. She put her hands on her hips, leaving Meowth to do as he pleased.

The cat Pokémon beamed upon realising this, his blue orbs glinting. He nodded his head before suddenly charging towards Vaporeon, unleashing a deadly fury swipes attack.

Misty gasped upon seeing this, quickly commanding her Pokémon to try and dodge these attacks. It managed to dodge some but its fins were quickly becoming frayed.

Ash briefly glanced at his girlfriend before focusing on his side. His confident smirk was overtaken by a belly laugh when he realised James' Pokémon was unleashing a fire move on his water Pokémon.

He clutched onto his belly and bounded around the decking, not caring when he slipped and slid. He continued laughing the whole time. I couldn't help but shake my head at him, raising a slight eyebrow. Don't get overconfident, Ash. Cockiness is a weakness.

"What does my girlfriend see in you for her new best friend? You just completely wasted a move, my friend."

James gritted his teeth slightly and his eyes grew deep in thought as he realised his mistake. While Jessie was working together with Meowth and was at a par with Vaporeon, she stopped for a minute, looking at her lavender haired partner. She looked at him with love and confidence. Her blue eyes were calm and full of reassurance. I watched as James look up and his grassy orbs met her sky coloured ones. Instantly, he nodded his head. He could feel the love and faith she had in him.

His face changed as he got an idea. He turned back to a laughing Ash and folded his arms, shrugging. He noticed that Ash's last command was for Totodile to use Hydro Pump on the ground to shoot himself into the air, escaping any extra scratches from Meowth. James' eyes glinted and he nodded his head as he called a command.

"Growlie, use flamethrower on the floor. Let's make Totodile's dance floor nice and steamy."

Ash blinked upon hearing this and just watched. I couldn't help but give James a secret thumbs up while my best friend wasn't looking. He knew Totodile liked to dance. He knew the wooden decking was going to heat up considerably. He had done well.

My best friend's expression changed from confused and confident to bewildered and horrified when James' plan work. Both he and Misty watched Totodile yelp in pain and dance around, his feet quickly becoming scorched.

Misty was about to grit her teeth and call out an even more powerful command when a crowd of young trainers suddenly gathered. One of the smallest ones gasped, his hand flying to his mouth.

"Look everybody! That's Ash Ketchum and his friend being beaten by those Team Rocket bad guys."

Jessie and James were oblivious to the labels and the assumptions and continued on fighting with all of their might. I watched as another of the little people in the crowd called out.

"The bad guys can't beat the good guys. C'mon guys, let's help them out."

As thunder crackled in the sky and the rain began pounding down on the people below, loads of under 16s joined the battle. There was quite the array of Pokémon. It was almost as if all of the regions and our past companions were here in spirit, witnessing the last ever battle between Rocket and Twerp.

As the little people called commands to their Pokémon and Jessie and James' Pokémon Partners took quite a beating, Ash and Misty glanced at one and other. They had battled for almost seven years now. They were good people. They knew when a battle was unfair.

Jessie noticed their glance and nodded her head as a thank you before shaking her head, smirking. She narrowed her eyes at them after commanding Meowth to pretend this kids Tangela was a bowl of Ramen that needed dicing.

"Thanks but no thanks twerp. Don't you pity us. We always hold our own."

Ash blinked upon hearing this but Misty soon nodded her head and smirked back. She glanced at her new friend battling with all of his might with his Growlithe before looking back at her boyfriend.

"They're right, Ash. They've been up all night with screaming babies the past few years; I think they really can handle themselves."

James smirked at Misty's words and nodded his head but didn't say anything, continuing to battle. I watched as the magenta haired female and her lavender haired now partner in life somehow managed to keep on going. It truly was two against about eleven trainers including Ash and Misty.

While a lot of the young people's Pokémon were on the ground, exhausted after taking attacks and being pounding on by the rain, Jessie turned to smile at James. Her eyes were filled with pride and nostalgia.

"Our last Pokémon battle as Team Rocket agents, James. You told me you would never let me down. And you haven't."

James was busy calling commands to both Growlithe and Meowth and didn't have the breath to speak. But instead he nodded his head, smiling with love at Jessie. His eyes said it all.

Jessie smiled back at his wordless agreement and gratitude, sighing happily and turning back to the battlefield.

"This battle turned out to be a bit of fun. But look how serious it is now. I suppose it's just like how we started off as friends but look at us now, right James?"

The pink haired female turned to look at James, expecting to see him looking back at her. He wasn't. His mind was racing. And somehow I could tell it wasn't on the battle.

Jessie blinked and was about to open her mouth to get his attention when James turned to look at her, his eyes full of a look I had definitely never seen before.

"Jessie, marry me." Was all he uttered, his words simple but his eyes were full of love, hope and sincerity.

The young trainers and Meowth didn't hear this but Ash, Misty and I did. We all gasped in unison and looked at one and other, our eyes wide. Misty was the only one showing off a small smile. She sure did adore love and romance.

Jessie's head snapped in the direction of James as she heard this but her reaction wasn't shock. She shook her head fondly at James and continued battling, laughing slightly.

"You always were one to take our disguises and our acts way too seriously. Do you really think now is the time to be doing this?"

Misty couldn't help but let out a groan upon hearing this, seeing the sincerity in her future best friend's eyes and blankness in Jessie's. She let out a quiet sigh, shaking her head.

"Oh come on, don't be as dense as Ash." She couldn't help but smirk before continuing after Ash let out an offended noise. "Listen to what he just said."

Jessie furrowed her brow at being spoken to directly by Misty and was about to open her mouth when James grabbed hold of her arm. He didn't say a word. He just looked at her. Jessie's mouth hung open and didn't speak either. While the thunder clapped and the heavens continued to open, James finally spoke.

"I take you and I very serious. I take our children very serious. You guys have given me everything. I thought Team Rocket was freedom but it's not anymore. Loving you and being a father is the most free I've ever felt. So Jessie please. Jessie please bloody marry me."

I watched as Jessie gripped onto James' hand just as tightly back, her eyes pricking with tears. Her eyes filled with sincerity back and she didn't have to say yes with words. Her eyes gave away more than she liked to admit. They were screaming yes.

She breathed out shakily and gave off a small nod of her head before calling into the direction of where Meowth was up a tree, hanging by his feet and swiping with his front legs.

Jessie called out with all of her might.

"Meowth, marry us!"

Ash and Misty beamed upon hearing this but continued calling attacks against James' Growlie. James didn't call anything back and Growlithe took every single hit. They just let everything be. Everything that happened in that moment was meant to happen.

Meowth gritted his teeth and continued swiping but looked over at Jessie and James, shaking his head at them.

"I'm a little busy at da moment!" he cried back before suddenly stopping mid-air. I don't think I'd ever seen him looking so vulnerable and pure in that moment in time. His eyes were shaking with realisation and his mouth hung open. "You want me to what?"

Jessie laughed in a way that was filled with emotion and she glanced at her new fiancé before back at the cat Pokémon.

"Meowth, marry us. You're the only person we would want to do it."

James nodded and continued holding onto Jessie's hand, talking in a tone that was full of joy and emotion.

"Yes Meowth, bloody marry us. You know everyone in Team Rocket is allowed to perform a marriage. And we don't want anybody, we want you."

I could see tears forming in the cat Pokémon's eyes and I was fighting back a lump of emotion myself. That heart felt feeling soon vanished and turned into amusement as a group of the young people scoffed, shaking her heads.

"Ew that is so gross." Announced one of the younger one, his arms folded as he continued shaking his head.

Another nodded in agreement, running a hand through his untidy locks. He glanced at his still fighting Pokémon before back at his friend and then the almost ex Team Rocket agents.

"Let's finish them while they get married. Let's ruin their special day."

I shook my head at this, absolutely appalled by the young and dense people's attitude. I was expecting it to be Misty who stepped in the way first but to my disbelief, it was my best friend.

Ash narrowed his eyes at the young people and shook his head, standing in front of Jessie and James with Totodile.

"Oh no you don't. I've ruined things for them many times over the past few years but I would never ruin this. You're going to have to get through me first."

The young people all gasped upon hearing this. Some of their eyes were filled with fear. Some of their eyes were filled with competitiveness. All of it was at the idea at battling my best friend. Battling Ash Ketchum was a big thing.

I knew the idea was already in Misty's mind so she was quick to stand next to Ash, standing in front of Jessie and James and defending them with her Vaporeon.

"For a long time I thought they were bad. They most certainly are not. And they most certainly do not deserve to have this day ruined. You're going to have to get through me as well."

As soon as she said these words, the battle resumed and was fiercer than ever. The rain poured while Ash and Misty switched to the side of Team Rocket. Jessie and James continued battling and defending the twerps back as Meowth swung from the tree, slashing with his paws as he called out.

"Jimmy Boy, do you take Jessie to be your lawfully wedded wife to have and to hold and in sickness and in health, for richer and for poorer and for as long as you both shall live?"

James let out a pant as he continued battling but he nodded his head, quickly sliding across the decking of the battlefield to hold onto Jessie's hand. He nodded his head and looked right at her, smiling as he spoke.

"Yes. I do."

Jessie smiled and held onto her soon to be husband, wanting to savour the moment and to remember the exact way he said those special words forever. I let out my own cry of displeasure as a child commanded their Pokémon to break them apart. Not on my watch. I was referee but I began fighting myself, using Iron Tail on them as quickly and as much as I could.

Jessie and James took it in their stride and went back to battling. They called commands but their eyes remained on one and other the entire time.

Meowth couldn't help but smile before calling out to the female of his partners.

"And Jess, do you take James to be your lawfully wedded husband to have and to hold and in sickness and in health, for richer and for poorer and for as long as you both shall live?"

After Misty jumped in to take over the battle that Jessie was partaking in, the magenta haired female rushed back over to James. She smiled over at him, holding onto his hand and reaching to stroke his cheek as she uttered the precious words.

"I do. Yes, I do."

Meowth beamed and jumped up and down in the tree after he had finally made the Pokémon he was battling faint.

"James you may now-"

Ash, Misty and I all let out an even louder groan as the children began attacking the in love pair even more, clearly not having a soft spot for romance.

Jessie and James just laughed, linking their hands to one and other as they held on tight and commanded their Pokémon to fight. Ash smiled lovingly at Misty and held his hand out to her. Soon there were two couples doing the exact same thing. They were holding each other with love, respect and pride as they battled. Doing what they all did best from the very first day they all met.

As the rain stopped pouring and the skies began to lighten, the atmosphere of the battlefield changed. The sky was shining down on all the fainted Pokémon belonging to the children. Ash, Misty, Jessie and James' Pokémon were still holding on for each other and for their trainers. They all panted but reached out to hold onto one and other's hands.

I smiled shyly at Meowth and took the first move to unity. Soon enough we were holding hands too. Meowth nodded his head back at me and gave me a whiskery smile. He cleared his throat before calling out to Jessie and James. The way he spoke made it sound like he wanted to call out these words for years.

"Jess and Jim – now you may kiss."

The couple didn't hesitate to fall into each other's arms and engage in a kiss that was full of love, admiration and security. Their moment was full of friendship that had turned to love, stability which had turned to passion and bad times turned to good. They held onto each other for the longest time and just kissed.

All of us watched the pair with tears in our eyes and our hands joined. In that moment, all of our hearts were beating for the same reason. They were beating to witness the beautiful moment between those people we could finally actually admit we deeply cared about.

That sight wasn't one I was going to forget in a hurry. We had bumped into these people every day for the past 6 wonderful years. Now we were watching their noses bump and them laugh lovingly before engaging in another kiss. We had witnessed them happy, sad, tired and angry. We had witnessed them doing good things and not so good things. Now we had witnessed the best thing of all. We were blessed enough to witness their hearts finally becoming one. And that's the kind of blessing in this world that is absolutely priceless.

The End.

There you go! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 This chapter was my first time writing a battle in ages and I must say I enjoyed it. I'll let you be the judge of whether I wrote it well enough or not. It feels good to have a chapter for the two shippings I started out on here writing for and to show their different love and relationship at the beginning of when they all finally became friends. Thanks again and I will be back on the 28th with Dear Darlings so see you then!
