Hello :P It is Wednesday and I am back to commence the month where every week I upload a story about Ash and Misty and following the themes of the PokeShipping Week ones on Tumblr. The first theme is Alola or Generation 7 and that's what this one is about. Join Ash and Misty with Pikachu and Rupert the Popplio as Ash is taught how to surf. It's based off my best friend AAML-TAML's fanart on deviantart that she did of Ash and Misty surfing. I hope you all enjoy :3
Ages:
Ash: 23
Misty: 23
Disclaimer: I own only the story :P
I smirked to myself and sprawled out on the warm Alolan sand as I watched Ash and Misty run towards the shore line, their surfing boards tucked firmly under their arms. This was going to be fun, I could tell.
Misty beamed and laughed happily as the tide pooled around her feet while it had quite the opposite effect on my best friend. Oddly for his personality, he shied away and looked sheepishly at his girlfriend.
"Ya know, Mist, I'm not really sure I feel like tackling surfing right now. I'm kinda hungry…" he put his board down and used one hand to rub his stomach and the other to rub the back of his neck.
Misty narrowed her eyes at him before glancing at me. I returned the same look back. Ash was always hungry; there was no doubt about that. But this definitely wasn't the reason he didn't seem keen on surfing. Between you and me, I think his tendency to end up almost drowning and Misty having to rescue him was getting to him.
Misty pretended to sigh dramatically and put her own board down, her hands moving to her hips as she shook her head.
"Oh I don't know, Ketchum. I think the only reason you ever were interested in going surfing with me because you wanted to see me in my swimwear."
The orange haired female couldn't help but blush and roll her eyes fondly when Ash didn't deny this and just smiled at her. She pretended to shove him before picking up her board, sticking her nose in the air.
"Well that's just fine by me. My dad is an amazing surfer so I'm told and I know it's in my genes. You couldn't keep up nor impress me. So I think it's best you just sit and build sandcastles."
And with that, Misty headed into the Alolan sea with her board and left Ash pouting on the shoreline like a toddler. After letting out a noise of horror at me and then to Misty, he finally decided he couldn't go without her attention and headed into the water with his board, copying her actions.
He kneeled on the surfboard next to Misty in the shallow water, his fingers stroking through the water as he looked at her.
"I'm sorryyyyyyy, Mist." He called to her in a childlike and mock apologetic voice before turning serious, smiling at her earnestly. "I really do want to go surfing with you, Mist. I'm sure I could figure out how to do it on my own but I suppose for your sake, you better teach me."
I laughed out loud at my best friend's stubbornness and watched the scene from the sand while sipping my orange juice. The more things changed, the more they stayed the same. He was no longer ten years old and even had kids with Misty but he was still a stubborn little sod. It was part of who he was and most of the time, we loved him for it.
I relaxed on the warm sand and proceeded to watch and listen to Misty's surfing lessons. About a quarter of an hour later, she had shown her boyfriend she was very skilled on her board in the water but he wasn't so much. In all the time of teaching, he had just stayed kneeling on the surf board in the shallow end.
Eventually, Misty noticed and grew bored with his unusually timid behaviour and shook her head at him. She put her hands on her hips as she stood in the water that came up to her chest.
"Oh come on, Ashy, I know you're not actually this bad in the water. You're just acting like it for attention and so I'll hold onto you the entire time."
My raven haired best friend beamed at the compliment but beamed even more at the idea of being held onto by Misty in her cute bikini. He smirked and looked at her with wide eyes, holding his arms out to her. To his horror, Misty smirked and shoved Ash's board, causing him to topple into the shallow water.
Both she and I laughed heartily while Ash gasped and sat his bottom down on the ground below the ocean, pretending to cough out sand to get Misty's attention.
He pouted and his cheeks blew up with hurt. He folded his arms and stuck his nose in the air as we continued to laugh at the mishap.
"Wow, just wow. I should have known from the minute I introduced you guys to one and other that you'd end up ganging up on poor little me."
Misty shrugged and I smirked. Poor little Ash indeed. He was right though. Misty and I had had a wonderful bond since we first met in Viridian Forest. She was a wonderful young woman and the only person I could ever imagine being with my best friend.
I continued laughing but Misty soon softened, pretending to help Ash back up and onto his board, deciding she had better give him some attention. He was soon beaming and ready to learn again after a quick cuddle and clinging onto her bikini strap.
Another quarter of an hour passed and Ash had plucked up the courage to kneel on his board in deeper water. It was almost time for him to stand up on his board. Upon hearing this, he purposely toppled off his board in the hope he wouldn't have to. I couldn't help but sigh and shake my head fondly. He was so much like Ben. That wasn't a bad thing expect for the fact that Ben was three years old.
Misty couldn't help but laugh out loud as she helped Ash back onto his board for what seemed like the thirtieth time that day. She smirked and poked his cheek as she shook her head at him.
"I don't know, Ashy. I don't remember you being this bad in the water, let alone on a surfboard. And here I thought your skateboarding with Gary would make you better than the average person."
When Ash pouted at the mention of this, Misty got an idea. She couldn't help but purposely tease him to make him pout more. She stuck her nose in the air and sorted her hair out.
"Maybe I should have bought Gary along to surf instead. He might have actually been able to ride a wave."
Ash couldn't resist a bit of competition with his childhood best friend when he was ten and that hadn't changed now he was 23. He stuck his own nose in the air before taking his board to deeper waters. Misty was almost impressed as Ash showed off his actual skill and stood on top of it all by himself.
He could tell she was impressed and he loved it. He smirked and peered down at her, puffing his chest out and folding his arms. When a gentle wave came and toppled over, his lost courage and grinned sheepishly down at his girlfriend, his goofy self returning.
"I don't suppose you could join me up on this board and help me, could ya?"
Misty pretended to sigh loudly but was still impressed he had managed to stand up and was even more impressed he was actually asking for help. She quickly climbed behind him and after them doing some Titanic poses and me snapping the photos, the orange haired female resumed the lesson.
I sighed happily to myself and looked over the photos with Rupert the Popplio as Misty continued teaching her boyfriend. They had come so far and done so much. They had overcome many hurdles and adult emotions despite their age. One thing I loved about them was they always remained the goofy and in love couple they had started off being. One thing I loved even more about them was they always remained the bickering old married couple they had always been.
When I came back to reality, Ash was getting ready to ride a big wave with his girlfriend holding onto him from behind. He blushed but mainly smirked at this, puffing his chest out further than I had ever seen. He turned to show Misty the smirk, giving her what he thought was a sexy wink.
"Don't worry about this, babe, I'll lead us."
Misty raised an eyebrow at this but couldn't help but blush and smirk. She nodded and held onto Ash. I watched as the wave got ready to break. Any moment now. I held my breath. Any second now. Rupert held his breath.
Just as the wave was getting ready to come crash down, Ash let out a whine and he lost his nerve. He attempted to shove Misty in front so she had to lead. She gasped and the wave swamped them both, causing them to topple off their boards and crash onto the sand.
I sat right up and gasped with worry, my eyes scanning for any signs of danger or injury. Like always, this was just a little accident. Misty laughed with a mouthful of sand and shook her head fondly at her boyfriend. Soon enough they were back into the water and ready to try again.
I relaxed back onto the sand and leaned against Popplio to resume watching. I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as Ash stated he felt Misty should go in front because of ladies first. I rolled my eyes fondly with Rupert. His stubbornness had returned.
In the bright Alolan sun, my eyes focused on the shapes of Ash and Misty getting ready to tackle yet another wave. Misty was in front this time and her eyes were filled with determination. Ash's were filled with lust as instead of focusing on the wave, he was secretly checking out Misty from behind. I laughed and petted Popplio when he hissed. I was surprised he wasn't used to that by now.
As a fresh wave quickly approached, Misty's eyes narrowed with concentration even more. Ash finally stopped admiring his girlfriend but instead of doing the sensible thing on focusing on the wave, he decided to try and impress Misty.
He beamed and suddenly held his arms high above his head. He grinned like a toddler at the orange haired female.
"Mist, look at me, I'm gonna do a handstand."
The aquamarine orbed female let out a gasp but before she could do anything to stop him, Ash toppled over into a handstand. Right at that moment, it was time to ride the wave. So that's exactly what Misty did.
I watched as my raven haired best friend had gone overboard and Misty begun riding the wave. My eyes almost popped out of their sockets as I saw Misty was riding the wave with Ash clinging onto her leg and being dragged along in the water. I didn't know how they were doing it but they were. And it wasn't the sun getting to me.
Ash beamed while being dragged along when he saw that everybody else on the beach was taking photos of the young and adventurous couple. He was about to wave and pose for them when he decided to make sure Misty was alerted first. He tried to stand up onto the board with her to impress her when he slipped and plummeted into the deep water below.
Misty took her eyes off what she was doing and cried out in horror. She knew Ash and deep water did not mix well and that was an understatement.
"Ash!" she gasped as she quickly turned the board to move into calm waters. She was about to swim underneath to search for him when suddenly a very large and wild Popplio dived out of the water almost like a dolphin. And they had Ash on their back.
The wild Pokémon delivered him back to his girlfriend in the shallow water before swimming under the depths to re-join its family.
Everyone who had been watching started clapped and marvelled to one and other. Misty climbed back onto the sand, her hands clasped together under her chin and her eyes sparkling. Ash believed it was at his skill but he was soon proven to be wrong.
"Oh cutieeee…" she breathed out happily, her eyes going over her shoulder to try and spot the heroic Pokémon once again. When she didn't she sighed somewhat sadly and played with her bangs. "Oh what a shame, I wanted to take it home to be a friend for Rupert."
When Rupert wagged his tail and allowed Misty to bend down to pet him, Ash scowled and sat cross legged on the sand. Childishly, he chose to focus on the fact the attention was no longer on him rather than he had been saved from drowning. He shook his hair like a dog before narrowing his eyes at Misty's Popplio.
"I think that Popplio could have taught Rupert some lessons if you ask me. Like, I don't know, how to actually be a nice Pokémon."
Upon hearing this, Misty gasped with horror while Rupert just narrowed his eyes back and hissed. She picked the big seal up into her arms and held him close.
"Don't you listen to him…" she cooed and nuzzled his wet skin before glaring at Ash. "You are mean, Ketchum."
Ash scoffed upon hearing this and raised an eyebrow, pretending to fan himself down.
"Me, mean? He's the one who bites me if I get to near any part of you he views as off limits."
Misty scoffed back upon hearing this, holding Rupert even closer though I could tell he was getting heavier by the second.
"Oh get over yourself, Ash. He's just protective. He's a lovely little boy."
Rupert beamed at this compliment and wagged his tail and nuzzled his 'mother' before glaring at Ash once again. Ash glared right back before at Misty, doing a gesture with his hand.
"He's not lovely if you ask me. He's craaaaazy."
I held in my laughs as Misty gasped as if she'd been stabbed in the heart. She shook her head in disbelief. Ash raised an eyebrow and looked around for support. Misty narrowed his eyes and soon shot down what he was doing.
"Everyone's gone back to the hotel, Ash, and that's exactly what I'm going to do."
I smirked and hopped on Misty's shoulder to annoy Ash and I watched as his mouth hung further open. Misty took a few steps before shaking her head at Ash again and holding Rupert tighter.
"I think you'd better sleep out here tonight, Ash, because you're certainly not coming back to bed with me. Rupert is. And Pikachu too."
And with that, Misty headed back to the hotel with me and her Popplio, Rupert blowing raspberries at Ash over her shoulder while I laughed. I giggled at Ash's pouty and very Ben-like face.
All of Ash and Misty's jokes and fights were mostly light-hearted. It was true Popplio was protective and Ash just had a lot of love to give. It wasn't a very good combination. Ash and Misty, however were a very good combination. What skills Ash lacked, Misty seemed to possess. Likewise with what skills Misty lacked, Ash possessed. They were technically two separate people but their hearts and souls were one. They were each other's number one. Only one. They were one. And they were admired by every-one.
The End.
There you go! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 When I wrote this one back in September, I think I intended it to take place a year after the one I wrote for summer with the whole gang on the Alolan Beach. As you can tell, Rupert is still protective of Misty and Ash still can get childishly annoyed about it :P Thanks again for reading and I will be back next Wednesday with yet another PokeShipping Pikachu Tales. The theme for that I believe is "Protecting Each Other." See you then!
AmyBieberKetchum signing out :P
