Hello :P It is Wednesday so I am back with my final Pikachu Tales Christmas themed chapter. I was a little worried about this one at first because it's quite long but reading it through now, I think it flows pretty nicely. This is one of my favourites. It features another Christmas Bash with all of my favourite characters to write about and Misty's parents, Jordan and Lynne, on one of their visits from "up there". I really hope you enjoy!
Ages:
Ash: 25
Misty: 25
Jessie: 33
James: 31
Jordan: 32 (Died at 32 so stays at that age)
Lynne: 30 (Died at 30 so stays that age)
Gary: 26
Katie: 4
Disclaimer: I own Jordan, Lynne and Katie with AAML-TAML :3
As I looked around the room at this year's holiday season Christmas bas, my heart couldn't help be filled with an emotion that I couldn't quite explain. My ears took in each and every conversation and every noise of laughter but my head did not hurt. As I looked at the smiles and the glowing eyes, my heart couldn't help but sing to the same tune as the songs blasting out of the speakers. I was glad to know all these wonderful people. I was honoured to know the true selves of each and every one. And I loved them so dearly. I felt like this on a regular basis but Christmas seemed to heighten it even more. Christmas is a time for joy. And they all sure did bring me buckets of joy.
I glanced up from sitting on the buffet table and helping myself to a bite sized piece of food when my ears were filled with the most familiar laughter of all. Ash laughed heartily and tugged his newly wedded wife across the wooden floor with him, not caring if they bashed into anybody or got in the way. He continued beaming at the beautiful red head, his eyes lighting up like a child's.
"Come with me, Mist, come with me." He jumped up and down with excitement as he continued tugging her over to one of the doors of the hall we had rented to have this holiday get together.
I wiped my mouth and turned around to see where exactly they were headed and couldn't help but raise a slight eyebrow as I removed the crumbs. The door was normal enough. There was a sprig of mistletoe hanging above it which was expected for the season. What was peculiar was that Ash was voluntarily tugging his wife over to do.
As he tugged her under the doorframe and pecked her on the lips right under the mistletoe and she happily returned the kiss, I laughed out loud to myself and nodded. Much time had passed since those two first got caught under the mistletoe together. Fifteen whole years in fact. People had come and gone but loyal friends remained. Journeys had turned into children and friendships turned into romance. It was when I stopped and took a minute to think, I realised how much time had passed.
All of the people I loved and cared about had changed so much. They showed me how they were still the exact people they were when I first met them but they were all much more sure of themselves. And they were happy. That was the most important part. They were happy and I couldn't be happier.
My ears pricked up once again and my thoughts vanished as I noticed my best friend smiling cheekily at his new wife. His hands went to her hips and he pulled her body close to his as he leaned to whisper into her ear. It was lucky for me I had amazing hearing, if I do say so myself.
"How about we have a little competition?" he smirked at her before pulling away and pressing a kiss to her nose. He soon leaned back in when Misty raised an intrigued and interested eyebrow. Those two could never resist a competition. "You and I can't get caught under the mistletoe."
Misty's eyebrow raise turned to that of confusion as she pushed him away to study his face. My head tilted on one side. I was just saying how things had changed and how Ash wanted to be under the mistletoe these days. I blinked. I was as confused as Misty.
Ash's smirk turned to a beam as he saw that the orange haired female's expression was clueless and this made him even more eager to do his little plan. His beam once again turned to a smirk as he playfully wrapped his arms and turned her around.
"Do you know where your dad and James are?" he asked, his eyes innocent but his mouth contradicting and still showing off that mischievous grin.
Misty remained blinking her aquamarine orbs in confusion but nodded her head, spinning both her and her husband around in the correct direction. She pointed over to where her parents were having a conversation with Jessie and James and her lavender haired best friend was using his hands to explain whatever story he was telling.
When Misty didn't say anything after that, Ash looked at her with a fully innocent expression and nodded her head. She raised an eyebrow again and copied his head nod mockingly as she spoke.
"My dad and James are over there. Do you want me to get them for you?"
I could tell Misty's question was a joke but Ash gasped out loud, causing the lavender haired male and the yellow haired one almost to turn around. The orange haired female giggled upon the actions of her favourite boys and covered Ash's mouth. She flicked her bangs out of her eyes before smirking in the same way Ash had been earlier.
"I know what you're up to, Ashy, and I like it. You want us to have a kiss under the mistletoe and not to get caught by my protective father and best friend…" she trailed off to glance and check those four were engaged back in their conversation before looking back at Ash. She uncovered his mouth and smirked, nodding her head as she did so. "Am I right?"
Misty was so right. And before I knew it, they were involved in their own little game of cat and mouse. News soon spread to everyone else but James and Jordan so soon enough everybody was helping Ash and Misty avoiding being caught by them, even the little ones.
I smirked to myself as I watched Ash and Misty rush to a different piece of mistletoe that was hanging from another doorway and got a better seat in the middle of the action. Katie was a child who very much did her own thing and wouldn't be told what to do. But the toddler had been caught up in the frenzy and she was only a little child so she was bubbling this Christmas. Instead of getting in the way of them like she would have normally been asked to by her Uncle, she decided to deceive him and be on their team.
I shook my head fondly as right as Ash and Misty locked lips under the second bit of mistletoe, the toddler let out a sad little yelp. Automatically upon hearing this, James went into action. The sound of a child in distress was enough to stop him in his tracks but especially if it was his own child's or one in our family.
His green orbs grew wide and he handed his wife his wine glass and squeezed her hip before rushing over to the middle of the dance floor where Katie was. When she saw her uncle rushing over, she continued pretending to cry but I saw her eyes glint with mischief. Oh Katie, you clever and sneaky thing.
She sniffed and held her arms up to him as he bent down to her level and she was happy to be bought into his warm arms. After a few moments of her snivelling and him stroking her hair, he realised what was wrong.
"Oh, you've lost your hairband haven't you, sweetheart?"
The orange haired little girl nodded upon hearing this and sniffed, looking up at him with big and forlorn eyes. She looked exactly like her father as she did that.
James gave her a reassuring smile and stood up to his full height, picking her up onto his hip as he did so. He nuzzled his nose against her cheek before kissing it, walking with her to a less busy place.
"Don't worry, we'll find it."
And with that, James was distracted and searching for a missing hairband that wasn't actually missing and Katie had helped her parents in their games.
I glanced over to where Ash and Misty were and saw that because the number one protector was distracted, they could share a steamier kiss. I was about to get up and warn them that there still was another one when Gary came rushing over to them. He was out of breath as it seemed he had rushed all the way over from the other side of the room.
He smirked breathlessly, one hand on his hip and the other playing with his spikes as he looked at the couple up and down.
"Nice." He remarked on their kiss and smirking more before going serious, remembering why he had sprinted across the hall to them. "But never mind that. Jordan is right near the entrance of the hall but I'm pretty sure he saw what you were doing. You need to move and he needs to be distracted."
And with that, that conniving trio dispersed with Gary in search of his best friend's father in law and the giggly couple searching for another sprig of mistletoe. They didn't know it but I did. There were only 3 sprigs of mistletoe. And the last one they hadn't kissed under yet was right where Jordan was.
Gary let out a slight gasp as he saw Ash and Misty almost heading for the one right near the "enemy" and turned on his heel and tried to skid off to warn them. In his haste he didn't see his best friend's mother in law. You could think it was him who sent her flying but she was a strong woman and it was the other way around.
She gasped and tugged on his arm to stop him from crashing onto the ground and falling onto one of his own children. Gary looked up at her sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck.
"I'm really sorry, Lynne, I'm trying to find-"
"Jordan." She replied for him but not in a questioning tone. I raised my eyebrow in curiosity and my previous observations had been made correct. The news of the game was catching fast. It had caught up to the wife of one of the main protectors. She smirked and brushed her hair out of her eyes. "Oh I know you're looking for him. And I know why. I'll go distract him."
And with that, the group dispersed once again and Lynne turned on her heel to go and find her husband. My ears pricked up and I scanned the room for Ash and Misty. Jordan was now at the other side of the room where their first kiss had been and Lynne was heading over to them. Ash and Misty were casually half way there to the third sprig of mistletoe. James was, well, I didn't know where James had got to.
The last I saw him he was on his hands and knees searching for a headband and bow belonging to Katie. I was sure that would have gotten the attention for Delia and while I knew it made him very embarrassed, he needed to be distracted right now. I laughed out loud to myself and shook my head. I was getting far too into this game as well!
I turned my head and my ears honed in on Misty's parents. I watched Lynne slink over to her husband in her pretty Christmas dress while the blonde haired male's eyes were scanning above the crowds, trying to see what his daughter and her husband were doing or not doing. She smirked fondly at this and stifled a laugh. She wrapped her arms around him from behind and rested her chin on his shoulder.
"Hey you." She mumbled and hugged him before turning around to look at him and also so Ash and Misty could sneak behind his back and get to the last bit of mistletoe.
Jordan gave her a smile and a stroke of her hair but soon grew distracted again, his eyes narrowing and desperately in search for Ash. I giggled to myself from my watch tower and decided to reach for the watermelon bowl and have Ash's favourite snack.
It was hard to tell who was more protective over Misty – Jordan or James. Jordan was her father and I'm sure it made his skin crawl thinking of my best friend's hot hands touching her. But then again, James had a giant soft spot for Misty and that soft spot turned him like a guard dog when it came to Ash. I suppose they were equally as much as each other. And sadly for Ash, they didn't take turns. They would always be as equally as protective as each other and wouldn't have days where he had to watch out for just one of them.
Lynne continued smiling at her teenage sweetheart and moved his face to look at her, stroking his jaw gently. She smirked somewhat teasingly before pressing a kiss to his nose.
"You're cute when you're distracted."
He blushed upon hearing this and gave her another smile before turning back around and folded his arms. He mumbled to her as his eyes went back to scanning the room.
"I'm not distracted, I'm on lookout. Apparently Ash might be trying to get our daughter under one of the tables if you know what I mean."
Hearing this should make Misty's mother shocked and protective as well but she very much knew that it was an exaggeration of the true situation. She let out a giggle before covering her mouth with her hand. She turned Jordan back around to face him by his shoulders.
"Oh you know that's not true, Jordan." She shook her head fondly at his protectiveness before deciding to distract him with a new method. She gave him a knowing look and ran a hand through his hair before pressing her body against hers and leaning to whisper into his ear. "Besides you're forgetting the things you wanted to do when you were his age."
Just as Jordan blushed and pulled away to smirk at her and was about to be truly distracted from his daughter and his son in law, James appeared. He pulled an apologetic face and blushed slightly himself, rubbing the back of his neck while Katie cuddled into it. She thought her parents kissing were icky so her young grandparents getting close were double icky.
James held her close and pressed a kiss to her forehead before still smiling apologetically at his male best friend and his wife.
"I'm sorry, I hate to interrupt but I've been searching for her bow for ages now and I can't find it anywhere."
I smirked to myself when Katie let out a whine for effect, causing James to hold her closer and rock her soothingly. She had some parts of Ash in her for sure. My ears went back to listen to the adults as James continued.
"Nobody has seen her headband and bow at all. In fact, I don't really remember her arriving with one in anyway."
Lynne furrowed her brow sympathetically and reached out to stroke her granddaughter's hair, not realising the lost hairband was a part of the distraction plan. What also wasn't part of the distraction plan was James getting distracted again himself. By Lynne. He blushed deeper and rubbed the back of his neck further when while stroking Katie's hair, she accidentally stroked his jawline as well.
James let out a sheepish laugh while I heard Delia from the other side of the room let out a huff of jealousy. Despite his pinkish face, he smiled at Lynne sincerely.
"I forgot to mention to you that you look lovely tonight, Lynne. Stunning."
Delia wasn't the only one to let out a jealous noise upon hearing this as Katie whined and clung protectively onto her Uncle. While Lynne smiled and thanked the lavender haired male, Jordan had been too busy overthinking the situation to care his best friend was crushing on his wife.
He suddenly spoke, his green orbs filled with mischief like Ash and Misty's had been earlier. As I heard a few cheers and giggles that Ash and Misty were kissing again while children and adults shielded them, Jordan took Katie off James and handed her to his wife.
"How about you go help this cutie find her lost item, Lynne? Me and James have some guy stuff to catch up on." He nodded his head and looked at Lynne to encourage her, wrapping his arm around James.
Lynne was hesitant for a minute and I saw she was thinking to herself. Jordan was smart and James was too. If they were together, they were sure to suss out what was going on. But she decided to give the situation the benefit of the doubt. Jordan and James were really good friends and maybe they really did want to catch up.
She soon nodded and smiled and held onto her granddaughter. She pressed a kiss to her husband's cheek and squeezed James' shoulder before heading off, trying to find a headband that she didn't know didn't exist.
As soon as his wife left, Jordan pulled the lavender haired male closer to him, his large arm wrapped firmly around his shoulders. He looked left and right before talking to him, his voice relatively low but not a whisper.
"I think Ash and Misty are up to something and Lynne's in on it. I can see it in her eyes."
James furrowed his brow upon hearing this and didn't have time to ask what he was talking about because Jordan explained. When he told him about Ash and Misty and their plan to get as many kisses under the mistletoe without being caught and how he heard Cameron whining that he didn't want to go behind James' back, the lavender haired male breathed out and shook his head. It was in a mixture of annoyance and disbelief.
"Those two little shits have got another thing coming if they think they can 100% pull the wool over our eyes." He shook his head and narrowed his eyes before softening, his eyes full of a childlike hurt. "So I suppose my little Katie was in on it? That's why you suggested she goes off with Lynne? They're both in on it?"
Jordan pulled away from holding James so close and nodded, his eyes scanning the area for any smooching couples before looking back at James. It was partly a game but he knew how close he and Katie were so he decided to be sensitive.
"I'm afraid so, buddy. But don't you worry. We have each other and when we're together, we always win."
James soon nodded upon hearing this and smirked, this time wrapping his arm around Jordan. I smiled to myself and shook my head fondly. I loved those two when they were together. They bought out confidence and assurance in each other that they hadn't felt comfortable to release without the other one there. They were two of a kind. Well, they were very much the same but their friendship was a joy.
Jordan nodded and smirked upon seeing James' wrapping his arm back around him again. He pretended to lightly punch his jaw before speaking.
"We're both the same age now so Ash and Misty better watch out. The two J's are coming and they're not going easy."
I laughed out loud as all of a sudden, they pulled out of the hug and James jumped onto the bigger male's back. Jordan gave him a piggyback and together they ran through the crowds. Unlike before, luck was working out on their side. They bumped into Cameron on the way. James was extra tall from behind on Jordan's back but he still smiled down at Cameron. He ruffled his son in laws hair before holding back onto the other green eyed male.
"You're looking very dapper, Cam. Any idea where Ash and Misty are?"
The khaki haired male blushed upon hearing the compliment and knew he had been given strict instructions not to tell but he couldn't help it. He smiled shyly and pointed before groaning to himself as Jordan and James had taken off across the hall once again. He didn't know if he was a winner or not. He had been called handsome by James but he had gone against what he was asked to do. It was a dilemma in his mind.
I laughed as together Jordan and James weaved in and out of the crowds and I jumped from table to table, watching them and wanting to get the best view possible. I was agile and I beat them to where Ash and Misty were with just adults gathered around them. They were engaged in quite the steamy kiss and in a playful pose and I knew this was the grand finale. I also knew judging by Ash's open eyes as he kissed his wife, he partly wanted to be caught just for the reaction.
Jordan and James spotted the shielding crowd and knew what was happening at once. They were about to charge right through when they both spotted their wives had a glass of alcohol in their hands and were cheering Ash and Misty on. They wondered if it was the wine or the holiday spirit but either way they were devastated.
Jessie was first to spot her husband's wide eyes and his head shaking with disapproval. She just smirked and shrugged, finishing off her wine and the remainder of his that he had left with her some time ago.
"Sorry James, I've been on your team since we were fifteen so I wanted to see what it was like to be on the opposing one for once."
I stifled a laugh upon hearing this and it was lucky Jordan was carrying James otherwise he would have sunk to the floor. Jordan wanted to comfort him but his own eyes were full of hurt seeing his wife next to his best friend's wife. The orange haired lady shrugged and smiled apologetically at him before peeping through the crowd and looking at her husband.
"Sorry Jordan, they're a cute couple and if this makes my daughter happy then I'm all for it."
Just as Jordan and James let out growls at the wonder of what was going on and the betrayal from their wives, the shield of people broke away.
Ash and Misty were revealed to be under the mistletoe and continuing to engage in their steamy kiss. Jordan and James let out groans of pain like they had been shot. Misty blushed deeply but continued kissing her husband, pulling him nearer. Ash beamed against her lips against at the thrill of being found and was about to take one step too far. My best friend was getting ready to lift Misty up and lift her against the wall when Jordan and James let out a noise of horror.
Ash and Misty laughed out loud before they let out their own noises of horror. To their dismay, the wall they had wanted to push against had just been a paper wall. They fell through effortlessly and landed into one of the food tables. Food went everywhere and covered us all. It didn't matter if we were young or old, a parent or not a parent or kissing or not kissing. We were all covered.
In that instant, Jordan and James seemed to forget being annoyed and protective and gasped, rushing over to see if either of them were hurt. Well, let's be real, they were probably wanting to check Misty.
Everyone let Jordan and James check first but they soon gathered around behind them. Their worried expression soon changed to them shaking their heads fondly before laughing along heartily with them. Ash and Misty were quite happily laying in the food and rolling about, hugging onto one and other.
Ash was breathless from laughing and he nuzzled the food on his face against Misty before pulling away, his face full of life.
"Why is it that any time we end up under the mistletoe together, one of us or both of us in this case, end up crashing into the food table?"
Misty's eyes shone with love from underneath and she wiped the cream from Ash's eyebrow before licking it off. She smirked playfully at him before continuing to beam.
"It's almost as predictable as the way I've had to save your ass from drowning more than once. And that's putting it lightly!"
I beamed to myself as everyone erupted into happy noises of agreement and after getting Ash and Misty off the floor, they went back to the party with no games or tricks this time.
It really was true to say that the more things change the more they stay the same. Fifteen years ago, Ash would have rather died being caught under the mistletoe with his secret crush and fifteen years later, he would have almost been dead at the hand of James and Jordan if he had managed to get her against the wall. Despite the fact their game had got a lot more grown up, they were still innocent and pure of heart and that goes for us all. We cared about each other. We loved each other. We admired each other. We respected one and other on our good days and bad days. We accepted the sides of one and other. All of them. We shared every single happy occasion together and Christmas was no exception.
Christmas wouldn't have been Christmas without them. My life wouldn't be my life without them. The definition of love wouldn't be the same without them. I loved them so much. I truly felt like that year I didn't need a gift under my Christmas tree. They were my gift. And you couldn't put a price on any of them.
Happy Christmas.
The End.
