Hello :P It is Wednesday and I am back with a new chapter. I planned on uploading a different story today but at the end of last week, I randomly wrote this and it seemed more appropriate to upload. I'm pretty sure I've not done a Valentine's themed one in a very long time and, while this is about a completely new interaction, it feels kind of old-school. Like what I used to write when I first got started on here. This is about Misty being without Ash on Valentine's Day and someone steps in. I'll let you read and find out. I hope you enjoy!

Ages:

Misty: 27

Cameron: 26

Ash: 27

Disclaimer: I own only the story this time round :P

I looked up at the orange haired female from cuddling into her lap with a sincere amount of sympathy in my eyes. But I looked away from her before she looked at me, worried that she might misread my gaze for a look of sympathy. That wasn't the case. But I wanted to make sure. She let out a quiet sigh, running a hand through her hair before shaking her head at herself. I glanced back up at her as she shook her head at herself.

"This is pathetic." She mumbled with another shake of the head and I climbed to cuddle into her stomach when she pulled her legs to her chest. One of her hands rested on her knee caps and the other found its way and just rested over my ribcage. Her brow furrowed gently. "I shouldn't be sitting here moping. I just shouldn't. It's pathetic."

Though she shut her eyes after her sentences, I gave her a warm and genuine smile. I shook my head at her and looked at her. With my eyes I told her that she had every right to feel low. She had every right to be disappointed. After she opened her eyes and saw my look, she shook her head a third time. That time, directed at both her and me.

"It is pathetic." She mumbled again before letting out a half-hearted laugh, her fingers making their way to my fur to massage me properly as she continued leaning up against her husband's armchair. She breathed out. "I'm acting like that old ghost at maiden's peak, waiting for her husband to return to her. It's only Valentine's Day. It's only one day."

Once again upon hearing her words, I smiled back at her and gave her another sincere look but that time, it was mixed with fondness too. I remembered the past. I knew what she was talking about. But I focused more on reassuring her with my eyes.

What she was feeling was perfectly normal and okay, too. She and my best friend, Ash, had planned on having a very special Valentine's Day together. The plane tickets were booked. The rooms at the hotel were reserved. The endless amount of flowers had been ordered. The children were ready to spend a long weekend with their grandmother. Everything had been planned very perfectly for the raven haired male.

But what he couldn't plan was that a Kanto League meeting that was scheduled for the next week would suddenly be changed to that very weekend. And because of the new timing, it meant that he had to be away on Valentine's Day. And that's why Misty was in the wistful mood that she was in, though she was trying her best to ignore it.

After drifting back to reality after getting lost in thought, I snapped out of it to see Misty swallowing gently. She sorted her bangs out with her fingers before tugging on them lightly. She was trying to tug the feelings way. She hated lingering on bad emotions for too long. She breathed out again as she was thinking about Ash and their plans as much as I was. But she forced a smile. She sat slightly further up.

"I know that we'll be able to reschedule and have a weekend away together some other time. It's nothing that can't be fixed." Misty told herself and me and her legs suddenly surged as she tried to get up. But I wasn't having any of it. I stayed clinging onto her stomach and forced her to stay sitting. I looked up at her, my brow furrowed firmly and giving her a look with my eyes. I shook my head.

I knew how things would progress from there. She would be fine. She'd carry on as normal. She'd mull on her feelings for a little bit and then move on. But then a few days later, they'd resurface and be even worse before. I knew this and she knew this too, deep down. I wanted her to talk to me and deal with them all in that moment.

I thought that Misty might have been stubborn in that moment and insisted she was fine and over it and got up in that moment. But she surprised me by doing the opposite. She let out a quiet but dramatic sigh for effect but then she sat down with me. She used both hands to massage my fur. I gave her a grateful smile and eyes that asked her to talk to me. She found herself obliging with a shrug.

"I don't know." She began to give herself time as her fingers itched along the bones of my neck before working their way down along my spine and towards my tail. I tried not to let out a noise of pleasure that would distract her from opening up to me. She then spoke with a sheepish and sweet smile despite it all. "I guess it's the romantic in me. I want my husband here with me on the day of St Valentine. I want to be with him and only him."

I must've showed off a slight frown upon hearing this because Misty let out a few giggles and jabbed me with her fingers lightly and playfully. She went back to cuddling me when she could tell my sour expression.

"Oh, Pikachu, you know I want to be here with you second to Ash." She told me sincerely and even leaned forward to kiss my nose so I chose to believe her. I knew she wouldn't lie to me. She continued with a wistful smile after brushing her bangs from her eyes. "I just can't help feeling this way. Ash as a ten year old was clueless about romance and he still is sometimes but he's come such a long way. And I love seeing all his efforts and treating him back on Valentine's Day. That's just what I want to do. I treasure each and every one of them."

I found myself melting upon hearing this and I leaned up to give her my own kiss on her nose. I breathed out, smiling inside and out. I adored how those two had found each other. They had met as stubborn and reckless ten year olds and though they still possessed those qualities inside, they had grown together. They had grown up together and she had grown out when they were expecting all of their children but they never grew apart. My best friends were so meant to be.

I was obviously showing off such a fond expression of them treating one and other on the romantic day that Misty noticed and she was filled with wistfulness and sadness once again. She tugged at her bangs lightly in despair, forgetting about massaging the rest of me. Her shoulders slumped once again.

"I feel like a pathetic loser all alone and helpless." She admitted both to herself and me when, suddenly, there was a knock of the door.

My brow furrowed before I blinked and she copied the same actions as me. I hopped off her stomach and padded along the carpet curiously. Misty nodded in agreement, standing up to open the door. She mumbled as she went.

"Who could that be…?" she asked the both of us, not a single clue in her mind as she twisted the key in the door to open it before reaching for the latch. She couldn't see who it was until she opened the door because the blind was pulled down so she began to quicken her speed of opening the door. When she finally did, she blinked instead of smiled. She was utterly surprised.

"Hello." She greeted the person on the other side of the door, trying to hide the questioning tone in her voice but finding it very difficult indeed. She was baffled. She peered behind me and I shared the same look after peeking around the corner and looking to see who it was.

Thankfully, if he could read expressions very well, he still wasn't looking at her face for anything in particular. So he just smiled in that same friendly way that he smiled at everybody.

"Hello." Cameron chirped back but didn't bustle in the door until she invited him. He played with his hair and used his other hand to press against the wall next to the door, casually. "How are we doing?"

I continued blinking upon hearing this but I smiled at the khaki haired male when he saw me looming. He took my baffled but genuine smile as an invitation and began to enter the Ketchum residence. Misty found herself stepping aside to let him before he immediately went down to his knees to give me a stroke.

"Oh, I bet you're missing Ash, aren't you?" he asked me and Misty found herself nodding but Cameron didn't notice. He nodded his head himself down at me as he held my face in his hands and massaged my cheeks with his thumbs. "It must be weird for him being without you but you've got to stay behind with Misty and the kids, huh?"

Once again, the orange haired female found herself believing Cameron was referring to her in some parts of his sentences but she soon shook her head at herself after she realised otherwise. She crept nearer to the khaki haired male and tried to hover casually near him as she looked down at him still making a fuss of me. She decided to just go for it.

"I really don't want to be rude here…" she began, holding her hands up lightly before continuing to show she was being genuine. She gave Cameron a small smile. "But what are you doing here?"

The small male turned around from giving me one final cuddle before his neck craned to look up at Misty. He blinked at first, as if his presence was the most perfectly normal thing in the world. But he then shrugged, standing up and flashing her a smile.

"Oh." He began, his fingers going back to combing his long locks on the top of his head that were loose from a lack of a hairband. He continued smiling. "I just heard that you were alone on Valentine's Day and I thought that couldn't be right – James would definitely be round here or something."

The orange haired female was blinking at his words at first but she soon found herself smirking and we shared a look. She took a step closer to the shorter male, her arms folded over her chest comically.

"Really? It's Valentine's Day and you thought that James might be here with me so you decided to come and pay him a visit?"

I giggled inwardly to myself as we all headed back to the living room. That would have definitely been the case another time but that time, Cameron frantically shook his head. He almost blushed, thinking that she thought that. His hands and fingers wiggled in denial.

"No!" he insisted, his child-like and light teal orbs wide before they relaxed and he stuffed his hands in his pockets. He gave her an earnest smile. "I thought James would definitely be round here. But I heard that he wasn't. So I came to see you."

Despite her mood before, Misty was amused by his frantic reaction to her teasing and she only heard the first part of his words. I gave her a look but she didn't catch on. She offered Cameron a seat on the sofa before sitting back up against her husband's arm chair once again. She tapped her chin lightly.

"Oh, no he's not here. That is definitely something he would do for me but it is Valentine's Day and I wouldn't expect him to ditch his wife for me. Especially not after the trouble I've caused them both."

Misty boldly said these words but she soon almost cringed to herself after realising she had actually said them while I was proud. And Cameron just nodded understandingly. Misty continued as quickly and as casually as she could.

"Yep, that's definitely something he would do for me. But not today."

The khaki haired male continued smiling even more when she repeated her words and he looked over at her earnestly. He perched on the edge of her sofa, resisting her urge to look around curiously. He repeated.

"So I came to see you." He told her, his cheeks reddening lightly with shyness but still, she didn't catch on. Even though Cameron was looking at her earnestly and I was looking at her knowingly. I couldn't help but smirk while I did so.

Misty always teased her husband for being the dense one out of them but in that moment, she wasn't catching any hints either. I found it amusing. I wasn't sure if that was a part of herself that she'd denied or that her and my best friend were slowly merging into one and other.

"What, you thought you'd come in and check on me before heading onto Jayde for Valentine's? That's nice." She asked and stated before blinking with confusion when even Cameron tilted his head at her. How could she not understand? She raised a slight eyebrow, the situation suddenly becoming clear to her. Or so she thought. "Well you really should be heading onto her. What do you have planned?"

I couldn't help but smirk upon hearing this and I could tell that Cameron knew why. I stayed near his bare legs and let him stroke my head. He was potentially going to tell James' best friend what he was going to be doing with his daughter. That would definitely be deception in the lavender haired male's eyes. But luckily, that wasn't the case. In fact, it was vastly opposite.

After smirking innocently to himself, Cameron's eyes widened angelically before he admitted to Misty, his fingers stroking along the black of my ear. He resumed smirking gently, but for a different reason.

"Actually, Jayde is heavily pregnant and pretty much sick of it and me at this point so my gift for her is staying away from her." He told Misty in a serious tone but his words caused her to laugh, her hand covering her mouth. He raised an eyebrow and continued in the same tone before laughing with her at the end of his words. "Oh I'm serious. It's rare to keep both Jayde and James happy on Valentine's Day so I'm just glad to achieve both for once."

Both Misty and Cameron laughed together about this for quite some time before the khaki haired male piped up once again. I looked up at him. He really was persistent in a sweet and subtle kind of way.

"So I came to see you." He repeated a third time and that time, thank goodness, Misty finally properly listened. She blinked as she was all ears. He continued. "I thought that maybe you'd want to do something."

This baffled the orange haired female. She would expect something like that from her lavender haired best friend but she didn't have a clue that Cameron would do that for her too. Sure, he was very thoughtful and very sweet too. But she was taken aback. She tried not to blink too much and gave him an almost shy smile.

"Well that is very nice of you. Thank you." She told him sincerely before being unable stop herself raising a comical eyebrow like she had done previously. "But… Why? Why would you want to do that for me?"

Cameron was quick to respond and he did so with such punctuality that it couldn't cross Misty's mind that Jordan was right about those two being a match. It did cross mine, however. But those thoughts didn't have time to linger. Cameron answered.

"Why not?" he asked her simply but with a shy and sincere smile, getting ready to stand up from the couch as though she had already agreed. "Let's do something. Your kids are with Delia, I imagine?"

Misty only had time to nod her head because; Cameron enthusiastically and properly stood up and took a few steps towards her.

"Well then, let's do it!" he told her and innocently reached for her hand, tugging her up. I watched. I knew moments like that were what Jordan dreamed of.

The orange haired female laughed shyly and her eyes moved to look down at me. It was in that moment that Cameron followed her gaze. He nodded his head before bending down to my level and giving me another stroke.

"It is okay if I take her out for a bit of fun, isn't it? You'll be okay here alone?"

I looked into Cameron's earnest and light teal eyes before I gazed into Misty's aquamarine and shy ones. I of course nodded my head and smiled but inside, I was thoughtful. It was true that Cameron was a very good friend to Ash but surely, if Ash needed someone to help him out with a female, it would have been Gary… Right? But then I realised, the raven haired male had absolutely nothing to do with it. It was purely out of the goodness of Cameron's own heart. I then smiled for real, gaining a lot of respect for the khaki haired male. It definitely didn't have anything to do with impressing Jordan either.

After Cameron and Misty made small talk about where they were going to head off to, the male excused himself to the bathroom before they were to head out to each other. Misty went over to the living room mirror and she checked her lipstick and hair. She caught my eye as I was making myself comfy on top of the back of the sofa. She knew she didn't need to ask permission or my opinion a second time.

"Well this is unexpected." She announced with a sheepish lip bite before her expression completely changed when there was a knock of the door once again. The look on her face flickered for one second with hope when she thought she recognised the type of knock before she shook it off by asking me. "Now who could that be?"

After I shook my head at her and furrowed my brow, she turned on her heel to head and open the door. I tried not to let my expression give away anything. She was very right to be filled with hope. I knew that type of knock too. And I could smell a very homely and familiar scent wafting in through the crack on the door.

Misty continued furrowing her brow as she pushed all hope back inside her. But she didn't need to. Her expression of course then changed a third time to a beam when she opened the door and was greeted with a tight bear hug right away.

"Ash!" she cried with such love and surprise that it caused Cameron to come out of the bathroom without washing his hands to see what he commotion was. I cooed happily. My best friend spun his wife around and stayed hugging her the entire time. Misty held onto her husband and shut her eyes, enjoying the moment. "Ash…" she mumbled.

Before she could get sentimental or emotional or ask him what on earth he was doing there, Ash stopped spinning her about and put her down. He smiled at her lovingly and kissed her on the hand before he took both of her hands.

"Surprise." He told her simply before smiling at her almost goofily, happily squeezing her fingers in his. He tried not to do a little dance. "My bosses couldn't separate a Pokémon King away from his Queen for very long so they sent me back here. Surprise!"

Misty was of course delighted with the news but before she could tell him this or smother his face in kisses or even make a cheeky remark, Ash tugged both of her hands. His own cheeks glowed with excitement.

"Well c'mon then! We've still got plane tickets booked and hotel rooms and a whole weekend ahead of us! Let's go now, nobody has to know!"

My raven haired best friend knew very much that both Cameron and myself would clearly be well aware of their plans but he chose to ignore this as he lovingly tugged his wife off. She smiled at him back and bit her lip, filled with all the happiness in the world.

"Just like when we were young, Ashy?" she asked him, her pale cheeks flushed with love and her love quickly responded with a nod of his head and a sweet kiss on her nose.

"Just like when we were young, Mist." He told her and kept her close to his side before shutting the door behind them.

And then they were gone. It was just the two of us. It was just Cameron and I.

Both of us blinked at the whirlwind that had just happened. I soon shrugged and went back to padding the sofa cushion. But Cameron needed almost a minute to get back on track.

"Goodbye then…?" he mumbled, his hands outstretched before they slumped back at his side with a sigh. I noticed this and he knew this. He quickly tried to hide it. He tried to make out his sigh was one of contentment. "Love sure is great, huh? Love, romance, friendship – it's all just wonderful. In fact-"

But he didn't have time to pretend. He didn't have time to blab himself through a full speech. There was yet another knock on the door. And for once, the easy going male looked almost annoyed. His brow furrowed gently as stepped along the carpet to answer it.

"If you forgot something, it's too late because I need to be going soon- Oh." He came to a stop when he finally answered the door and saw someone else standing there other than who he was expecting. I peered around the corner, like I had done when it was Cameron knocking. The khaki haired male blinked even more. "Hello."

"Hello." The person quickly responded in a soft tone and the voice and sight lead me to soon enough see that it was Jonah, standing there with flowers in his hand. He had flowers in his hand and he was wearing a special Valentine's Day suit. The look in his eyes made it obvious that he was expecting the door to be opened by Misty. And when it was Cameron, he didn't know what to do.

Cameron didn't know what to do either. But he didn't have to ask why the strawberry blonde male was there. It was perfectly obvious to him. And it was perfectly obvious to me.

Despite the disappointment for both the male's that their kind deeds had gone unfulfilled and unnoticed, I couldn't help but smile gladly to myself. I was content. I was content that Misty had a group of males around her who, whenever she needed someone to step in, they would always be there.

And that was enough. It didn't matter that she didn't realise what both Jonah and Cameron were ready to do for her that day. The beautiful thing was that they thought about it. And they would have gone through with it. And they weren't just doing it to be nice. They certainly weren't doing it for the recognition. They were doing it because they cared. They truly cared. They truly cared about Misty. And I was beyond happy that she had people like that in her life. People who cared.

The End.

There you go! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :3 It's funny how all it took was a glance at a particular photo and I got an idea to write this. But Cameron and Misty is definitely something I wanted to tackle on here, especially since QUEENSPELLER67 asked me about them a few months ago. And on top of that, Shannon and I have this joke that Jordan gives Ash a hard time for dating his daughter and hints that he'd rather have Cameron as a son in law :P Ironically, James teases Misty about her and Jonah - who also appears at the end. Like Pikachu says, Misty is lucky to have all these sweet guys around her :3 Thanks again and I will be back again with another chapter so see you then!
