Chapter 26
"There it is! It's a replica of the famous sorcerer's flying carpet! It's my favorite thing. Do you want to go on a ride?" Kalim asked as he got on it and held his hand out to Odette.
"Is it safe?" Odette asked as she looked at the carpet skeptically.
"I'll keep you safe." Kalim said.
"Get on Odette." Grim cheered as he hopped on.
"Okay." Odette said taking his hand and getting on.
They left the room slowly, then went out to the hallway gaining a bit of speed, they went out to the courtyard and once they cleared the buildings they took off into the sky.
"It's like a whole new world up here." Odette gasped happily as she looked around. The sky was starting to gather stars and change from the pink and purple to a darker blue. 'That sounded kinda familiar.' She thought.
"I know right! I love coming it here. It's so peaceful. I feel like I can forget all my troubles up here. I know I should worry more, like Jamil." Kalim confessed.
"You can only be you. Worrying about such things will only waste your energy. If you want to be more than maybe be more studious. Sorry I'm not good at giving this kind of advice." Odette sighed.
"I would say Jamil worries too much." Grim added in.
"Thanks guys. We should probably head back it'll be dinner time soon." Kalim said slowly steering them back towards the dorm.
"Thank you, that was a lot of fun." Odette said.
"We should do it again soon!" Grim cheered.
"Since it's so late you guys should stay for dinner." Kalim said as he also jumped off the carpet who then flew away.
"We're not imposing are we?" Odette asked looking over at Jamil as he walked up to them.
"I planned for your attendance." Jamil said with his usually straight face.
"Thank you for having us!" Grim said.
"Please seat yourself, we'll be in shorty. Kalim, I need to talk to you." Jamil said placing his hand on his shoulder.
"Sure." Kalim said with his sweet smile.
"I hope Jamil isn't too cross with him." Odette whispered as they walked away.
"I don't think he will be." Grim reassured her.
They took the same seats they had this morning and waited for Kalim and Jamil to show up. They chatted with a few of the students to pass the time.
Soon Kalim and Jamil walked in.
"Something seems off." Odette whispered to Grim.
The two stood in the center of the room before Jamil said. "Everyone our dorm head has an announcement." He looked a bit uneasy.
"Everyone I think we're not training hard enough! The training will be increased from six hours to eight hours! We need to catch up to the other dorms!" Kalim shouted shocking everyone even Jamil.
"Everyone after dinner we'll be doing another training session!" He continued.
Dinner was eaten in silence.
The training session after dinner was a physical one not a magical one so Kalim made Odette participate. Jamil had been nice of enough to give them a set of gym clothes to change into.
"Man he may have a sunny personality but he's a beast on the field." Grim huffed.
"My arms have like noddles." A student complained.
"That's way more intense than our usually workouts." Another grumbled.
"That is true. Tonight was much rougher than usually. I know he feels responsible for the dorm's situation but I think he might going a bit overboard. He's never been like this before." Jamil sighed.
"You and Trey sure do you your hands full with your house wardens." Odette said pulling herself up off the ground.
"Rumor is you helped Heartsbyul when Riddle overbloted." Jamil mentioned.
"We did." Odette shrugged.
"We didn't have much a choice." Grim muttered as he settled on Odette's shoulder. "Hey let's not get wrapped up in someone's else drama again." He whispered to her.
"For once I agree with you." She whispered.
"That's it then! You're the diamond in the rough. You've helped so many houses please Scarabia too." Jamil said with an eager smile on his face.
The strange sensation from earlier came over Odette and Grim again. They both nodded and said. "Yes of course."
"That's wonderful! Than please stay here for the night. It's already so late." Jamil said clapping his hands. Two freshman come up to him. "Take them to the guest room." Jamil ordered the two students.
The students took Odette and Grim to a spare room.
"Great now we're involved in someone's mess again! Why did you agree to this?" Grim grumbled as he got off her shoulder.
"I don't know I was just saying yes before I knew it." She said. "It felt like my mouth was answering before my brain could stop it."
"You're too soft hearted. This room is nice but I rather go back to our dorm." Grim said.
"Yeah let's go." Odette said. She opened the door and peered out the into the hall. The coast was clear. "Let's go." She whispered.
They began to quickly walked down the hall and around the corner but run into a few students. "Why you out of our room? Kalim has ordered no one leave their rooms during the night." The taller of the three students snapped.
"RUN!" Grim shouted as he turned tail and run away.
"Get back here you street rat!" One of them shouted as they gave chase.
Grim was easily caught, Odette took a few minutes but was soon caught too. They were thrown back into the room then locked in.
"I don't know why but I have the urge to throw myself on the bed and cry." Odette muttered leaning against the door instead. "What are we going to do?" Odette sighed sitting on the edge of the bed.
"What about that thing Crowley gave you before he left?" Grim suggested.
"Oh Grim that's a brilliant idea." Odette exclaimed as she pulled out the cellphone. She searched through the contacts then hit the call button.
The line rings a few times but then goes to voicemail. 'Of course he didn't answer.' Odette thought after leaving a voicemail.
"What about Ace or Deuce?" Grim asked as she took the phone and opened the magicam app. She send each a message but they ended up falling asleep waiting for a reply from either.
That night despite her exhaustion Odette had a strange dream that night. She was inside a large throne room where a short, fat man sat on the throne. A tall, dark man held a snake staff in the other man's face. 'That guy again?' She thought. The short man was repeating the tall man's word in a tence. 'He's hypothesizing him with the staff.' The scene was interrupted by shouting from outside. The two race to the window to see a large parade outside which at the center was a handsome young man on an elephant.
They were woken up early the next morning and the door being slammed open. "Do you plan on sleeping all day?" A student snapped at them.
"It's only 6 am." Odette muttered as she looked at her watch.
"I don't care what time it is we're marching six miles to the Eastern Oasis on orders from Kalim. Get up!" He snapped again then left the room.
"Six miles this early? Has he lost it?" She grumbled as they dragged themselves outside.
It takes them over two hour to get to the oasis. 'I feel like I've seen this place before.' She thought as they arrived at the oasis.
"This is an oasis?" Grim muttered back as she looked around at the few trees in the sand.
"Alright everyone we're taking a twenty minute break before we're heading back." Jamil informed everyone.
"Water! I need water." Grim croaked.
"You want water?" Kalim growled but it he seemed to return to his normal self. "I can give you water. Oasis Marker!" He said twirling his pen and pointing it up to the sky.
Suddenly it began to rain. Grim opened his mouth and stuck out his tongue. "This water tastes so good." he said after swallowing.
Odette did the same. "It is." She agreed after a mouthful. "That's a cool spell."
"Really? I think it's kinda lame." Grim said.
"This is my signature spell. I could fill this entire oasis if I wanted and still keep going. It takes very little magic." Kalim explained with a smile
"That's such a useful spell." She smiled back at him.
"Our twenty minutes are up." Jamil sighed walking over to the group.
"Already?" Grim whined.
"I think we should stay a little longer." Kalim said.
"If we stay any longer than the trip back will be harder." Jamil explained.
Once back at the dorm everyone had breakfast and Kalim seemed to back to his normal self.
"Here Grim have another cracker." He said pushing a cracker at Grim again.
"If you feed him too fast he'll choke." Jamil said placing a hand on Kalim's shoulder.
"Or worse you'll spoil him." Odette pointed out.
"After that hike I think everyone deserve ice cream." Kalim said getting up from the table.
"Kalim please let me. Our fathers will be furious if they found out I let you act like a servant, it's not proper." Jamil sighed getting up too.
"Nonsense, here you're not my servant you're my follow student." Kalim said smiling at him.
"Fine, but I'll serve everyone." Jamil sighed giving up and they left the room.
'He seems to be back to normal.' She thought. "It seems so, then we can go home. Grim what are you doing?" Odette asked looking over at him.
"Nothing." Grim snapped at her.
"Jeez, crabby. When we get back to the dorm take a bubble bath and relax." She snapped back at him.
Kalim and Jamil entered the room again within minutes.
"He looks off again." Odette whispered to Grim.
"What are you still doing sitting around like royalty?! Get outside we're going to train until sundown!" Kalim shouted pointing towards the courtyard.
Everyone quickly scrambled outside to the courtyard and began to train and true to his word Kalim kept going until sundown.
Thanks for reading. I hope it enjoyed it. This was a pretty straight from the game chapter; I just couldn't think to deviate from it. I'll try in the next chapter. I hope you come back for more.
