Chapter 34

One New Years Day Odette took care with her appearance. 'I wish I had a nice outfit to wear to this party.' She thought as she took her hair out of her makeshift sock curlers and brushed them out. Instead of pulling her hair up with her stripped ribbon she left it down and put a black headband on.

She look herself over in the bathroom mirror. 'Well I guess it helped a little.' She thought as she popped a little lip gloss on her lips.

At noon he handed over to the Diasomnia dorm. The atmosphere around the dorm was like she never seen before. It was still cold but it was bright and sunny. 'Huh, who knew snow would brighten this place up so much.' She thought as she walked up the pathway.

She knocked on the door and greeted by Sebek. "Odette?" He questioned as he arched a green eyebrow up.

"Lilia invited me. He said it was his birthday. Is it unusual to invite friends to birthdays in this world? Is it a family only thing?" She asked as she held up a small gift bag up for him to see.

"I couldn't comment on how humans do it no fae invite all for birthday celebrations. He said he invited so please come in. It must have slipped his mind to tell us." Sebek said stepping back to let her into the warm dorm.

"Sebek whose at the door?" Lilia called out from the sitting room.

"It's Ms. Odette Thropp." He answered as they appeared in the sitting room entrance.

The sitting room was filled with students this time and had a few garland of green and black steamers arched along the wall and fireplaces. The room seemed to hush as they entered.

"Happy Birthday Lilia." She smiled. 'Maybe this was a mistake, but it's his party and he invited me so they can get over it.' She thought as Lilia got up to greet her.

"Odette you made it. You look lovely." He greeted as he took her right hand and kissed the top of it as usual.

"Thank you Lilia. You look dashing yourself." Odette smiled as she took in his outfit. He still wore the normal school uniform black pants but he had on a black dress shirt and a white blazer. Over top the blazer was a black and green stash that read 'Birthday Boy'. Over his heart was a green and pink pin that said today's date, January 1.

"Are you saying I'm not usually dashing?" He teased still holding her hand.

"No, I'm not saying that at all." She gulped as she began to blush which just made him chuckle.

"Is that for him?" He asked looking down at the small bag she still held.

"Oh yes. I'm sorry it's not much." She muttered. 'I didn't have much notice or money.' She thought as she handed it to him.

"I'm honored all the same." He said taking it and escorting her over to where he had been sitting with Silver and Tsunotaro.

"Hello Odette." Silver greeted as she sat across from him and Lilia. Sebek took the chair at the opposite end.

"Hi Silver." She greeted as he prepared a cup of tea. She then turned to Tsunotaro. "So this is the dorm you're apart of. I guess right then." She grinned.

"You will not address Waka-sama in such a way." Sebek balked.

"I was right about that too." She said her grinned getting bigger. "Waka-sama is Tsunotaro and is the Head of the Diasomnia dorm."

"Tsunotaro!" Sebek crocked quietly and Lilia began to giggle.

"Tsunotaro?" Silver questioned as he handed her a cup of tea.

"Thank you Silver. Well, he wouldn't tell me his name." She shrugged then took a sip. "So will you tell me your name now?" She asked turning back to him looking completely serious now.

Tsunotaro was still unreadable to her but he look as if he was debating her request.

"Not yet child of man, Tsunotaro is still fine by me." He finally said.

"Alright then, Tsunataro it is then." She said giving him a gentle smile. "Whenever you're ready. No need to rush." She said patting his hand.

"Don't touch Waka-sama!" Sebek finally managed to squawk.

"Oh did I do something wrong? Sorry." She said quickly withdrawing her hand.

"It's fine Sebek, she has no ill intent." Tsunotaro stated sipping his tea, he almost seemed to be smiling as he did so.

"Can I open this now?" Lilia asked once he had recovered from his laughing fit.

"Um, sure. Like I said it's not much." Odette muttered as he began to open the small bag.

He pushed pass the bit of the tissue paper and pulled out a bat plush. Even with it's wing spread out it wasn't much bigger than his hand. The whole thing was gray, the body was nothing special but she sew pink beads as eyes but the wing were made of black lace. They were easily the prettiest part of the small creation.

"Odette it's so cute." Lilia smiled at her making her blush.

"Thank you, I'm glad you you like it." She replied.

Odette stayed for the rest of the day until sunset. "It's your birthday you don't have to escort me home. The campus is mostly empty anyways." Odette said as Lilia helped her get her coat back on.

"Nonsense, birthday or not, it's still the proper thing to do." Lilia said as he put a large black coat on himself.

"Alright." She sighed.

"It was suppose to be my turn to host tea but it seems you ended up doing it. So I guess I'll do it the next two times." Odette chuckled as they went through the mirror.

"I don't think birthday's count. We have another in about two weeks." Lilia said.

"Oh really whose?" She asked as she looped her arms through his.

"Tsunataro's." Lilia grinned.

"Oh, can I come to that one too? I wonder what kind gift he would like." She wondered.

"I think your presence would be enough of a gift for him, but if you insist on a gift I think he would enjoy a dragon similar to the bat you gave me." Lilia informed her.

"Proper dragons are harder to make then bats but I could give it a try." She replied as they made they way up the Ramshackle walkway.

Odette stopped on the few stairs up to the wooden porch and turned to stare at Lilia.

"Is something wrong Ducky?" Lilia asked tilting his head to the left a bit.

"I'm debating on something." She confessed as she tapped her fingertips together.

"Oh? What are you debating? Whether to kiss me or not?" He teased as he brought his face closer to hers.

Instead of answering Odette just closed the distance and pressed her lips to his. Much to her elation Lilia gently kissed her back. He placed his hands on her shoulders as he slowly pulled his lips away from hers.

"I was excepting that." He chuckled as he looked down at her from his floating position. His ruby eyes seemed to be glowing as he took her ocean colored eyes.

"I believe the saying is fuck around and find out." Odette giggled as her fingertips came to her lips just as surprised about the cussing as the kiss.

"My, aren't we full of surprises today but yes I do believe that is the saying." He replied still amused by her.

"I could just be getting start." Odette smirked.

'Well luckily for everyone the day is nearly over." Lilia said gesturing around them, pointing out that indeed it was twilight now. "Oh did you what to keep fucking around and finding out?" He teased making her blush.

"A bit." She confessed as she leaned forward to kiss him again.

He allowed it kissing her again and this time he deepen it, nibbling on her lower lip. He wrapped his arms fully around her and did the same. When he finally broke the kiss off they were both gasping a bit. "There's no need to rush these things Ducky." He whispered slowly pulling away from her.

She just nodded mutely still trying to catch her breath.

'She's cute flushed like that.' Lilia thought with a grin. He took her hand but instead of kissing the top of it he pulled back her gloves a bit to expose her wrist. "Good night Ducky. Until next time." He whispered before kissing her pulse point.

"G-good night Lilia. Happy birthday." She finally managed to sigh.

He finally released her, winked then disappeared into his pink and red sparkles.

'The sevens! I s all kisses like that?' Odette thought as she stared into the night air. Once she had return to normal she felt a chill and went into the dorm but still threw a look over her shoulder before she shut the door.

Back at Diasomnia Lilia appeared in his room. Someone, he would guess Silver had placed all his gifts on his bed. He sat on the edge and picked up the small lacy bat. 'Mh, this does make things a bit more complicated.' He thought with a sad sigh.

That night Odette dreamed of her previous life again.

She was in a small but imitate space, borderline crowded. She was sitting in the corner of the room. In front was a neon orange table that was covered in sharpie graffiti of quotes and cute drawings. The table also had nearly empty glasses on it.

The walls had more of the sharpie graffiti and Odette could see a swan etched on the wall beside her.

The song began to fade out and replaced by other. "It's my song!" Finley exclaimed as he got up from the table. "Let's dance."

"Hell yeah!" Odette said as she got up. "Come on Lee." She said holding out her hand.

He just gave her an uneasy look.

"Come on, Finley can teach you how to dance just like he did me." Odette grinned.

Lee finally followed her to the dance floor where they copied Finley's move. The dance floor was full and once the song ended they just kept dancing.

'They had to be friends.' Odette thought as the memory began to recede. 'We looked like we were having a lot of fun.' She thought as she turned over on her side. 'Were we at a bar? How old were we? How old am I really?' She thought as her eyes popped open. She stared at the wall in front of her. 'Did the magic do more than effect my memory, did it effect my age?' She wondered. 'So am I 15 or am I over 20? If Crowley knew would he kick me out?' She closed her eyes and tried to push it out of her mind. 'I'm 15 here and that's matters for right now.'

Thanks for reading and sticking it out. I really didn't think this story would get this long, I guess I got lost in the forest for the trees or how ever that saying goes. I got lost in the details. This medium burn has official became a slow burn since it took this long for them to fricking kiss. Don't think this means Lilia has this in the bag.
I'm going to try and make sure there's more of these moment in the chapters. This is a Diasomnia love story after all. Next in the Pomefiore Arc with the SDC. I've been looking forward to this arc but I never written for Vil and Rook before so I hope I do them justice.
We also got more of a peek at who the 'real' Odette is. A college age female student at NRC full of high school boys?! How scandalous!
I hope you stick around and enjoy the ride that this story has turned into.
