Chapter 56
After dragging the team back off the stage the group went back to the Ramshackle dorm. After lots of tears from more than just Kalim, lots of hugs for everyone and some worrying from more than just Odette it was late, nearly midnight.
G: "Whew this has been one rough month. I ever did get my tuna bonanza. And all that hard work I went through as a manager was for a big ol load of nothing. Myah! I should be buried up to my ears in tuna!" Grim whined as he flopped down on the couch.
"You have such a one track mind. It was a lot of work." Odette chuckled sitting beside him.
"Now that the SDC's over and the guys've all gone back to their dorms this place sure feels bigger huh?" He said as he rolled over and stared up at the ceiling.
"It's nice to finally have some peace and quiet, but it feels a little empty now." She sighed.
"Well, we're all cleaned up for the night we should get to bed." He said floating up.
"Yeah." She yawned.
Up in their room as Odette was about to get in bed the mirror began to glow. "Mickey?" She whispered as she took a step towards the mirror.
"Hello? Are you there?" Mickey asked as he appeared in the mirror. He was so clear this time all the fog behind him this time.
"Mickey! The mirror connected again." She smiled at him.
"Hiya top of the evening to you. It's been awhile. How have you been? I wonder how long it's been since we last met. Then again maybe met isn't the right word. I only see you in my dreams. I've been trying to get back to this dreamland ever since you know. I've tried wearing the same pjs reading the same book before bed you name it but nothing seemed to work. So how come I made it here tonight? I didn't do anything special." He said.
'So he's not making this happen. Does this means it requires something?' Odette wondered. "It's been about a month since we last met."
"Anyways we lost touch right when you brought up that strange camera you have. I've been curious about it ever since." He informed her.
"Oh yeah I'd better get a picture now before you fade out again. Can I take your pic?" Odette said as she grabbed the camera that she had starting keeping near the mirror.
"Absolutely." Mickey replied.
"Okay, 1, 2, 3, smile." Odette said as she clicked the shutter.
"How's it look?" He asked as she shook out the photograph.
"It come out perfect! Now I have proof I'm not dreaming." Odette said as she flipped it around to show him.
"Haha, That really is a nice photo. I wish I could have a copy. Oh wait, I wouldn't be able to take it back with me from dreamland would I? Either way. I feel like you and I are closer than before. I can see and hear you more clearly. It's like the only thing separating us now is a single pane of glass." He chuckled.
"I feel that same way." She replied.
"We're getting top talk longer too. Maybe one of these days you and I could watch a movie together. Do they have movies in twisted wonderland? I'd love to watch any of your favorites. I sure wish Donald and Goofy could join us here in this dreamland. If they found out I had a friend here, oh boy I can just picture the look on their faces." He giggled.
"Speaking of friends hold on a second let me get my friend Grim." Odette said as she stepped away from the mirror and looked around the room. "Hold on Mickey." She said as she left the room.
She went down to the lounge but he wasn't there, she then went to the kitchen but he wasn't there neither. She finally checked all the spare rooms and bathroom but she couldn't find him anywhere in the dorm.
Odette came back into her room and stepped back up to the mirror. "I can't find Grim any where." She informed him trying to hide her panic. Images of a carriage and a blue and gray monster flashed across her mind as she squeezed her eyes shut.
"You seem worried and you're looking a little pale there." Mickey said.
"I can't find my friend and I'm getting a bad feeling about it." She gasped.
"Oh no, it sounds likes there's some trouble on your end. I wish I could help. I really do but I can't cross over to your side. Go on and find your friend. I'll see you later Odette." Mickey said as he began to fade and the mirror began to dim.
Odette threw on a hoodie and jeans then left the dorm. She begins to search for Grim but something in the back of her mind tells to go back to the coliseum.
"Grim!" She yelled out as she entered the audience area. "Grim are you here?" She called out.
She heard scrithing. She could feel the hairs stand on end, every cell in her body is telling her to run away but she took a step closer to the sound.
The sound gets louder and sound turns into scratching
"There it is. Nyeh heh It got buried when they fixed the stage." Odette heard, it sounded like Grim but with more gravel.
She heard chomping and crunching. It sounds like rocks breaking. "Rh, that's good stuff." The voice said as the light shifted to reveal Grim.
He looks terrifying. His eyes are glowing a dark blue color, he doesn't seem to see her. There flames on his ears are bigger and darker.
"Grim?" Odette gasped but she still reached out for him.
"Gr! Who's there? Grrr! He's snarling This is MY stone!" He roared as she attacked Odette. He swipes at her with enlarged claws, scratching her out reached hand. She gasped and pulled away. She quickly pulled her arms over her chest and face and he continue to scratch her. Despite herself in screamed in surprise.
Grim quickly took off after he knocked her to the ground. 'Grim?' Odette thought as her vision began to blackout. Her mind flashed more memories again. Mickey but as a stuffed animal, his laugh coming from the stuffed animal. Beside him was a duck in a sailor suit and a strange looking dog with a simple outfit. Giant signs that say Orlando and Disney World flood her mind. 'Are those places? Why is Mickey a talking stuffed animal?' Odette thought as she passed out.
Across campus Idia was relaxing in his room.
"Whew I used a year's worth of energy today." Idia sighed as he got up from his desk chair.
"You did great the research presentation you out on was incredible." Ortho praised him.
"My synthesized voice let me give a smooth speech without a single hitch. That was blind typing perfect chain combo. Talk about being a pro gaming athlete right?" Iida smirked.
"That's definitely worth bragging about to Committee Chair Riddle Rosehearts." Ortho said.
"When I put my mind to something it's easy peasy lemon squeezy. Of course the second the Q&A session was over I retreated to the safety of my room as fast as humanly possible. Too much normie aggro." Idia stated.
"You could have stuck around to see the rest of the festival." Ortho replied.
"And sit through research presentations and art and crafts booths? That's way too low to be worth my time. Besides…" Idia began but was cut off by a pinging sound.
"You have unread emails. Looks like some internships invitations from the people who attended your presentation. IT, Communications, techomantic, engineering, research, software development Oh! Amazing! There's even one of THE Olympos Inc. would you like me to open it on your monitor or read it loud for you?" Ortho asked.
"Don't bother throw them all in the trash folder." Idia said as he flopped down on his bed.
"What? But?" Ortho protested.
"It's fine I'm not going anywhere regardless." Idia muttered turning away from Ortho and towards the wall.
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. We're finally finished the Pomefiore Arc! I feel like it ended in the last chapter but this is chapter is included in the game so that's why I included in this arc.
Honestly I've completed a Pomefiore Arc when writing a fanfic before. I have written long fanfictions before but never published the, but I always quit at or about half way into the arc. So I'm happy to have finished this. This is also why my style changed during this arc. I know there was barely any Diasomnia interaction after the half way point. I'm sorry about this. I plan on fixing it during the Ignihyde arc. I plan on going back to different POVS.
