"Ugh! What's with everyone hammering it in!" Weiss groaned. "For your information, I can't run!" She said, her cast firmly on the coffee table while her wheelchair was folded up next to the couch. She let out an annoyed sigh and rested her head on the back of the couch, closing her eyes. How did I even get here… She thought, remembering how she twisted her ankle and she made it worse despite Rosalina numbing the pain.
She rested her arm over her eyes, gritting her teeth and mentally kicking herself for not taking it easy. You just had to make it worse, didn't you? She thought to herself, remembering all the hard landings she did while going from galaxy to galaxy, even fighting the Seregios. Not to mention Bouldergeist messed her up pretty good when the Daredevil comet hit and a boulder struck her ankle. She thought that when she went to the doctor to get a closer look at her ankle, it was just gonna be her ankle.
"Oooh… you definitely aggravated it. It's to the point where your lower leg needs to be in a cast."
"What?!"
"Yes. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it'll heal itself or you did enough damage where it's irreparable. Be prepared for the worst… because I'm afraid you may never walk again."
Weiss let out a sigh, clenching her fists as a tear escaped her eye and rolled down her cheek. She looked into her scroll and looked into her social media to see how her friends were doing.
Rubes and I helped out with refurbishing an old house just yesterday! Totally looks out of this world!
Made enough traps in Patchouli's library. Let's see Marisa get through this! - Nyx
We just showed Flan the Smash Mansion. She totally loves how chaotic it can get here. - Xena
I think I figured out my problem with Sephiroth. I didn't bring power ups. Totally gonna try again! - Mario
Good luck. - Cloud's reply
Wahahaha! If you couldn't beat him in that doctor's outfit, then what good will your power ups do? - Wario's reply
How do you do this… online thing again…? - Rosalina
Mario Kart is a totally different experience in real life. I'm still feeling the burn from that blue shell… - Blake
Weiss put her scroll down and let out an annoyed sigh. Typical. Everyone's having fun and here she is, stuck with a broken leg. Her annoyance slowly turned into sadness. Everyone was having fun… except for her. She longed to go out, take a walk around, fight some Grimm… something! She was actually hoping that Peach wouldn't get hijacked on some new ragtag adventure and everyone goes to stop Bowser… except for her.
If it wasn't for this stupid leg… wait, no, it wasn't the leg that was responsible that got her in this mess. It was her own stubbornness that got her to where she is now. If she had just rested her ankle for a while at the Observatory, she wouldn't be in this cast. This very uncomfortable, tight, warm cast… that itches. They couldn't even give her a cast that had ointment inside or something that would make her leg not as itchy.
Saying that Weiss was completely miserable was a massive understatement. She craved to walk again… she wanted to hang out with them, train… do something. The one time a newcomer just shows up in Smash and here she is not welcoming this newcomer. Though, considering Cloud has been ranting over this newcomer named "Sephiroth", he probably was either annoying or just someone that Cloud personally didn't like while everyone else adored him.
Willow would take notice of Weiss's misery and contemplated what to do to cheer her daughter up. She tried to do everything for her. Fluff up a pillow, tuck her in, giver her coffee, tea, her favorite foods… nothing seemed to cheer her up. It was then that an idea popped into her head. Of course! She approached her daughter.
"Hey, how you feeling?"
"Miserable…" She said, looking like she was about to be reduced to frustrated tears because no one would come by.
Willow sat down next to her, putting her hand on her daughter's shoulder. "I think I might know what'll cheer you up."
"What, another pillow? …Sorry, that was rude…"
"I can tell you're frustrated, but I know what'll cheer you up." She pointed to her scroll. "You would always complain that you aren't able to go about and spend time with your friends, right?"
"Yeah…"
Willow smiled. "So why not bring them to you?"
Weiss's eyes widened, having not have thought of the idea before… but, she looked down at her scroll. "Do… do you think that's a good idea? I… I don't want to be a bother. I don't want to be that person who asks people to drop what they're doing and come to my aid immediately. I'd hate to be a burden…"
Willow wrapped her arm around Weiss. "I can understand that… but who knows? They might be the key to cheering you up."
"If… if you say so." Weiss nodded and took her scroll. She opened up her group texts and stared at Ruby, Blake and Yang's faces. She didn't want to be a bother… but it wouldn't hurt to try. She took a deep breath and started to text them.
Hey… do you think you guys can stop by and hang out for a bit? I'm kinda lonely…
Weiss had her thumb over the send button, hesitating to press send after an abysmal text like that. No no no, that was way too informal! It had to be better than that. She didn't want to press it… but her thumb slowly reached down and pressed the send button. Crud! She thought, hoping that it would fail to send… but to her dismay, it succeeded. She wanted to throw her scroll toward the wall and pretend that she didn't even send that horrid text. She held her breath… and then felt her hand vibrate. Oh no…
I'll be right over. - Blake
Your BFF is on her way~! - Ruby
For a bit? Girl, we oughta do a sleepover! - Yang
Sleepover? That is completely childish… - Weiss
You can't escape it, Weiss. You're kinda stuck with that leg of yours. - Yang
As much as Weiss hated to admit it… Yang had a point there. Not like she can escape it. Well, she could make an attempt in her wheelchair and make a break for it, but unfortunately, Klein is still installing ramps on every exit for the house.
"See? They're coming." Willow smiled, kissing Weiss on the cheek.
"Yeah…" She nodded and a few minutes passed as the doorbell rang as Willow walked over to answer the door and Blake was up front with the two sisters behind her.
"Oh hey, come on in." Willow said as RBY walked in.
"Ah, there's the ice queen!" Yang smiled. "How ya feeling?"
"Well, I was enjoying some peace and quiet until you came to visit."
"Your text says otherwise!" Yang winked, causing Weiss to blush.
"Well… whatever…" She muttered.
"Oooh, I can definitely sense the melancholy." Blake said as she sat down next to her. "Glad you texted us."
"I'm not melancholy, I'm just…"
"Depressed?"
Weiss sighed. "Yeah… it's just been so… hard. I didn't think it'd be so lonely, but… you guys are having fun and doing stuff. Yang and Ruby helped out Rosalina refurbish her old home, you were off doing Mario Kart… The most I've done is channel surf and reading Cloud's ranting about how horrible this Sephiroth guy is."
"Yeesh… sorry, we didn't mean to rub it in." Yang rubbed the back of her head.
"No no, it's fine… you didn't mean to. But you guys… you don't know what it's like to have a broken limb and be so… stuck! Ugh, it's frustrating!"
"Well, that's why we're here!" Ruby smiled. "We're gonna cheer you up!"
"You guys have fun." Willow said as she started to walk out.
"And where are you going?" Weiss asked.
"The Belladonnas invited me out to dinner, and I think they also invited Tai and Summer… anyway, you guys have fun! Enjoy yourselves!" Willow said and walked out.
"Alright!" Ruby grinned. "The whole house to ourselves, I like it."
"Try not to make such a mess… mom cleaned it just yesterday." Weiss said.
"Oh relax, we'll be fine."
"Why does that make me worried…"
"Alright, I dunno about you… but I'm gonna make some food for us!" Yang said and walked off into the kitchen.
"I wonder if we can play some video games while we're at it…" Ruby said as she walked toward the TV. "Let's see here…"
Weiss let out a sigh. "Dolts…"
"Yeah, but you missed 'em." Blake said.
"Did not." Weiss said, but Blake gave her a knowing look. "…Okay, maybe a little."
"And that's why we're here." Blake chuckled, wrapping Weiss into a side hug. "Admit it, you missed us."
Weiss sighed. "Yeah… I did."
"And I missed you too." Blake said.
"So did I!" Ruby said. "Agh… where do you plug in these wires!"
"Wait, hold on. Let me get it set up." Blake said as she walked over. "See, this goes over here… and that wire goes right there."
"Ooooh, man, these HDMIs are always so confusing!"
"Oh man, pulled pork!" Yang said in the kitchen. "…Oooh, I wonder if I can make some pulled pork nachos…"
Weiss let out a happy sigh. "Dolts… my wonderful, knuckleheaded dolts."
Later…
"Alright, so considering the universe has been restored… I gotta wonder." Yang said as RWB looked at her as they were eating their food and drinking sodas. "Imagine if Rosalina restarted everything and we were born in different worlds… yet fate would still bring us all together in some way. Where do you think we would be born into?"
"Hmm…" Weiss rubbed her chin in thought. "If I were to be born somewhere else in a new universe… I think I would be born in Hyrule, specifically in Hyrule Castle."
"Alright, which time era? There's like tons of 'em."
"I think I would want to be born in the Twilight Era. I'd live in the castle with Zelda." Weiss said. "Sure, I'd probably be living in hell for a time and watch Zelda disappear while giving her life to save Midna… but I would want to do something and put a stop to Zant's reign… or in this case, Ganondorf's. I could probably wield the Master Sword if Link wasn't able to!"
"Ooooh, nice." Yang grinned. "Blake?"
"I'd probably live my life in Midgar. Haven't decided if I want to be a flower girl like Aerith or side with Cloud and stop the Shinra Corp."
"The second one sounds like you." Weiss said.
"It does."
"Me? I'd be with Ryu and I'd be kicking this M. Bison's ass! Heh, I'd probably help Ryu take out this Akuma guy…" She smirked. "I can see it now, both of us stopping him… hehehe."
"I have two possibilities." Ruby said. "One is somewhere in the Pokemon world. I don't know where, but I've narrowed it down to either Galar or Unova… oh, and Sinnoh. I'd be the very best trainer out there!"
"Ooooh! And the second?" Yang curiously asked.
"Onett."
Weiss paled. "Ruby, you do know what Ness went through, right?"
"Giygas can't be that bad!" Ruby brought up. "…Right?"
"Given the horror stories I've heard from him, I'm pretty sure the answer is yes."
"Oh, fine… I guess I could settle for Unova. I doubt there'd be a bad guy hellbent on destroying stuff." Ruby said.
"Alright! There's another thing I want to bring up." Yang said. "And it's about the seven Koopalings."
"What about them?" Blake wondered.
"Where did they even come from?"
"Well, that's simple. They're Bowser's kids." Ruby responded.
"Eh, wrong!" Yang said. "Just yesterday before we left to help Rosie out, I couldn't help but overhear the Inklings talking with Iggy. I heard Iggy call Bowser "Uncle Bowser" instead of calling him dad or Lord Bowser."
"Uncle?!" Ruby said in surprise. "You sure you heard him right? This is Iggy we're talking about. The guy's loonier than loony!"
"I know, but I heard it with my own two ears. I even asked the Inklings if I heard that right and they said he indeed said "uncle"." Yang said. "So, I have to wonder… where did they come from?"
"Well, if that's the case… then Bowser ought to have some long lost sister that he never brings up." Blake said.
"Okay, now I'm getting more curious!" Yang said. "The plot is thickening~!"
"Okay, so say if Bowser had some long lost sister… what would her name even be?" Weiss asked.
"Um, Koopie Koo?" Yang guessed.
"Probably Diana." Blake said.
"Hmm, Bowietta….?" Weiss tilted her head.
"Bowsette!" Ruby chimed in as the girls looked at her weirdly. "…What, too dumb?"
"Sounds better than Weiss's guess." Yang snarked.
"Hey!"
"Alright, next time we see Bowser… I am definitely gonna ask him!" Yang chuckled.
"Why do I feel like you're gonna forget?" Blake deadpanned.
"Ha! As if I'd forget that!"
In the future, after they cheered Bowser up…
"Ah crud, I forgot to ask him!" Yang facepalmed.
"Huh?" The Mario Bros and the princesses looked at her weirdly.
In the present…
"Somehow I doubt it." Blake said.
"Oh ye of little faith!" Yang smirked.
"Right, now let's play some games! I call Mario Party!" Ruby said.
"How about something that won't make us want to kill each other." Weiss suggested.
"Aww, okay, that works too… Oh! I know the perfect game!" She said and then whispered in Weiss's ear.
"That sounds like fun!"
"Sweet! This is gonna be great!"
Meanwhile, with the parents…
"I have to say, you have been looking better after Jacques had been arrested." Summer said, sipping some water. "Not to mention after you dumped alcohol entirely."
"Him being out of my life has been the best thing that ever happened." Willow responded.
"I must admit, you've been positively glowing as of late." Ghira said after taking a bite out of his steak.
"Spending time with my family will do that." Willow chuckled.
"Well, I don't know much about this Jacques guy, but given the horror stories I've heard from him didn't sit well with me at all." Tai said. "Also didn't help that Qrow would start moanin' about Jacques every time that old fart did something."
"I've watched his actions… it just… disgusted me." Summer folded her arms. "Especially when he had his own daughter kidnapped."
"Did you do anything about that, Willow?" Kali asked.
"…Unfortunately, I wasn't there when my daughter came back. I was out purchasing alcohol when I heard an explosion that rattled the entirety of Atlas. It's too bad, really… I would have smacked him with a bottle of whiskey. Having two men chloroform my daughter just so she wouldn't put up a fuss…" She clenched her fists. "Had I been there, I would have called him out on it, drunk or not. Him being blown up was the best thing that ever happened to him."
"And in turn, it caused a chain reaction to where we decided to leave Menagerie and build a new home here." Ghira said. "I imagine a lot of other Faunus had followed suit."
"Good and bad, unfortunately." Kali sighed.
"Still, the fact that Jacques is out of your lives… it's paradise." Tai said.
"Hear hear." Willow agreed.
Back with RWBY…
"Nice throw!"
"Alright, this is it." Yang said, holding a Wii Remote in her hand. She stared at the pins before her as the other girls had finished. She was on the last frame. With a deep breath, she got into position and thrusted her arm with the Wii Remote as the bowling ball went flying through the lane… and knocked down all but the 7 and 10 pins. "Aaagh!" She groaned as the game was over. "Shoot, there goes my perfect…" She sighed, seeing 298 as her score with Weiss being 270, Blake being 259 and Ruby being 150.
"Second place isn't all too bad." Weiss said.
"Yeah, not bad for a handicap!" Yang grinned.
"You did do well." Blake said with a nod.
"Yeah, who knew you can bowl while sitting down? I didn't think it was possible!" Ruby giggled.
Weiss chuckled. "It takes talent." She said proudly, then noticed Yang pulling out Weiss's wheelchair. "…What are you doing?"
"When was the last time you've been out and about?"
"Oh… a few days ago, why?"
Yang smirked. "I say it's time you get some fresh air!"
"What?! I can get plenty of fresh air from the window!"
Yang picked up Weiss and planted her firmly, yet gently on the wheelchair, then she opened the door. "It's time you get some actual fresh air!" She said as Blake would start pushing her out. "Might as well kiss that cabin fever goodbye while we're at it!" She said.
"I don't even have cabin fever!"
"Your text says otherwise~!" Yang grinned. "Come on, we can stop by Moo Moo Queen on the way!"
"Where are we going?" Weiss asked.
"You'll see~!"
Later, at Mushroom Hills…
"Why are we here at Mushroom Hills? Do you want me to run over a Goomba or something?" Weiss asked as she was holding a chocolate dipped cone.
"Nope~!" Yang said, holding a fudgecicle, as they stopped. "Ah, here's a good spot." She said as she pulled out a blanket and set it across the grass.
"Then what are we-"
"Star gazing!" Yang said as Ruby pulled out a telescope while setting down her cookies and cream milkshake down.
"Rosie let us borrow hers. Can you believe she has a few of them?" Ruby chuckled as she set things up.
"You… you didn't have to do all this…" Weiss said. "Though… we could have done this at my home."
"With all that light pollution? You're kidding." Yang chuckled.
"It is pretty nice out here." Blake said, taking a bite out of rainbow sherbet ice cream cone.
"Yeah… it sure is." Weiss said, looking up into the stars as she noticed a shooting star fly past.
"Oh wow! That was cool!" Ruby said as she looked into the telescope. "Alright, let's see here… what can we see out of this lovely thing…" She peeked into it. "Mhm… uh-huh… ooooh, I think I can see Good Egg Galaxy from here!"
"No way, really?" Yang decided to take a look. "Holy crap, you can! Man, Rosie's got some good telescopes!" She said as she decided to take a look around. "I think I can see Freezeflame from here… oh! I see Dreamland!"
"Do you see Gensokyo?" Ruby asked.
"I'm not seeing it… oh! There it is. Weiss, you have got to take a look at this!" Yang said as Weiss rolled over as she took a look into the telescope.
"Hmm… oh! I don't think I've seen this one before…"
"Oh?" Yang wondered.
"Yeah, there's a galaxy we've never been… I see a lot of waterfalls and bridges and a lot of slopes." Weiss said. "…Oh, and now I'm seeing a very large tree."
"Let me see here!" Yang said as she took a look. "Oh my, that tall tree's got a massive slide! …Wait, is that a galaxy filled with puzzles and planks?"
Blake decided to take a look. "Oh, I see another snowy galaxy… with some lava in it."
"I wanna visit these new galaxies! Heh, Rosie owes us a trip." Yang said.
"Agreed!" Ruby said as she looked into it. "Wait a minute, is that Whomp's Fortress or am I going insane? …I'm probably going insane."
"Oooh, there's a good looking star there." Yang said. "…Aaaaand it just went supernova. Aww…"
It was at this moment that the three of them heard sniffling as they turned around to see Weiss wiping her eyes the best she could. "Hey, what's wrong?" Blake asked with a hint of concern, immediately rushing to her side.
BGM: Family (Super Mario Galaxy)
"I… I'm just so… happy that you guys would… do all this for me!" She said. "I… I'm not sure why I'm crying!"
"Tears of joy, probably." Yang guessed. "Overwhelmed by happiness that we came to your rescue in your time of need!"
"Sis, that was cheesy…"
"Oh come on, it was heartfelt and you know it." Yang defended as the sisters walked over, but to their surprise, Weiss would slowly start to stand up from her wheelchair. "Whoa! Weiss, what are you doing?!"
"I refuse to sit down while you guys hug me!" She said, slowly standing up and hobbled over, but nearly fell. Blake immediately caught her.
"Why would you-"
"I hate it!" Weiss sobbed with her voice trembling. "I hate just sitting around and doing nothing while you guys are having a good time! I hate this cast… it's hot, it's itchy and it's so… irritating! And it's all my fault because I didn't just take it easy and let my ankle heal! I didn't want to be a burden… I didn't want you guys to drop everything just to make me happy… but… you guys went out of your way! All of this… I'm just so… overwhelmed!"
"Hey… it's okay Weiss." Yang knelt down. "We all make dumb mistakes. Believe me, we all did dumb things we're not proud of." She said as Weiss kept crying as she would bury herself into Yang's chest.
"Thank you… for… doing this…" She said through her tears as Yang, Blake and Ruby would gently hug their sobbing friend. "I… I love you guys…"
"We love you too…" Ruby smiled as they continued to comfort her.
Later the next morning…
Willow walked out of her room, yawning. She wandered into the kitchen to get some coffee where she'd turn her head and saw Weiss resting her head on Blake's shoulder, Blake's head was leaning on Weiss's head, Yang was snoring loudly on the recliner and Ruby was curled up on a blanket on the other couch. "Oh, that is just precious." She said, noticing the smile on Weiss's sleeping face. She pulled out her scroll and took a picture of it, letting out a soft giggle.
One by one, the girls would all wake up as Yang stretched. "Mmm! …Aw man, did we fall asleep half way through the movie?"
"Told you that binging the Royalty of the Circlets trilogy was a bad idea." Ruby said.
"Aheheheh… yeah… thought we'd pull an all nighter on that one." Yang rubbed her head sheepishly as she stood up. "Well, Weiss… hope you had a lot of fun last night."
"I did actually." Weiss smiled.
Yang grinned. "Good! Let us know if you need anything!" She said as she started to walk out the door.
"We're just a text away~!" Ruby said as she skipped out the door as Blake was the last one to leave… but she stopped and looked at Weiss.
"Hey."
"Hmm?" Weiss looked at her.
"I'll come back later, alright?"
Weiss smiled. "Sure, I'd love that." She said as Blake giggled, giving Weiss a friendly wink before walking out the door. She let out a happy sigh and looked up at the ceiling.
"They're dolts… but they're my dolts." She said, closing her eyes with a smile.
This was gonna be right after Galaxy had ended, but I didn't know exactly what to do with it so I put it up on the backburner for now while working on other Gaidens. Finally, when I was wondering what Gaiden i'd write, a friend suggested doing this one and I went "Okay, I guess I can do that." and all these ideas flooded into my head and I went "Okay, I know what to do!" and with a little help on figuring out on how to start this Gaiden, I was set! (Friends are the best!)
Oh, and there was also gonna be a Gaiden where the parents are celebrating and having a nice dinner, chatting about how their lives are better off without Jacques and I went "What if I combined the two?"
Oh, and if y'all are curious about that Pulled Pork Nacho thing... allow me to tell you what it is (For those who don't know). Basically, when we have Pulled Pork for dinner, mom usually saves some for nachos the following day. So imagine instead of regular nachos, you got pulled pork along with the melted cheese.
If I made you drool, i'm not sorry. ;)
