Chapter 6: A Beacon of hope

It had been a week since I'd found my way back to my family and it was bittersweet i would be leaving so soon. But to be honest I was glad I got to see them at all. "Are you sure you've packed everything?" My mom asked for the fourth time sense we started walking out of the car twords the bull-head doc, seeing as I didnt think i could get by the airport a second time. "Yes mom, Im sure Ruby and I have everything, right Rubes?" she asked giving me a pointed look. "Yep," I said popping the p.

"Well, Ok, but please call if you dont, I'll hop over as soon as I can to give it to you," my mom said, pouting. "Actually, i did forget something," I said. "What, I can go ge -" she was cut off by a hug from myself. "I promise mom I'll call you whenever I can," I said, looking at her with warmth. "Ok, just remember we're here, and we love you," she said, letting a few tears go.With that, Yang and I got aboard our ride and started waving goodbye. "So you ready to start becoming a huntress ?" she asked, trying to make some small talk. I smirked and said, "Yeah, I am. What about you, sis?" She returned my smirk and said, "Absolutely, been waiting to travel the world and kick ass!" As we were talking, I was alerted to a commotion going on at the front of the bus, a scrawny blonde haired boy looking Absolutely green around the gills running twords Yang and I. Before he could puke, I snapped my fingers, and time slowed to a stop. I walked over and moved him twords the back of the bus, making it a them problem before I walked back and snapped my fingers again to continue time. While we heard shouts from back there yang who had also noticed the boy and how unwell he looked, realized what I did and shot me a thankful glance.

The screens showing the news in the ship soon changed to something more interesting to my attention. "Well, today on our news show, we have breaking information about two of Vales most wanted that have escaped due to outside interference," said the male newscaster. "Yes, they were cought and connected to a multitude of dust related crimes and several misshapenings around the city for a few months now, we were only able to connect them to the crime after a mysterious circumstance where they were felled on one such heist," said a female caster. "Yes, so watch out on the streets if you run into any of these descriptions on screen now," said the male as the screen panned away. What showed on screen frustrated me , it was the almost ginger and that strange maiden I had felled the other night. 'Damn it, Ozpin, you didn't hold them personally, and now they're out and about again,' I thought to myself, irritated.

"Everything ok, Ruby? You seem a little upset?" My sister asked both curious and worried. "Yeah, it's just the two people on the news, im the one who put them away, and due to someone's screw up they're free again," I said looking a little miffed. Yang looks surprised at me and turns to look back at the screen and then me. "So that was you, why Ruby, you didn't tell me you were a crime fighter?" she said with a patronizing look. The rest of the trip was rather calm, with the only thing interesting being a bird landing beak first on the windshield. Looking up as I stepped off the bull head, i gazed at the almost magical looking castle that was to be my school for the next four years. Though my staring was interrupted by watching my sister get swept up by a crowd of people I'd never seen before. As she was being carried away, she said, "I'll see you at the opening ceremony!"

I'm thinking to myself, 'Well, that was odd, but i guess those could be her friends or something.' I start walking twords the front intrence when when I noticed someone, a girl my age with piercing blue eyes and long slicked back hair. She seemed unaware of my gaze as she commanded her workers to carry her bags twords the school. I shook myself out of my stupor and walked over to her. I started to try and talk to her, "Hey, You look familiar, where do I-" I was cut off as she looked at me and time froze for a moment when our eyes met. Suddenly, we were both apparently overwhelmed by flashes of painful and indecipherable memories as she seemed to be in as much pain as I was. And just as soon as it began, it was over.
