In the Original Timeline...

On a warm and sunny morning within Shiganshina District, during the year Eight-Fifty-Four... one entire week had passed since Marley's assault on Shiganshina District and the disappearance of Eren Yeager. Shiganshina District was left in total ruin from the aftermath of Marley's assault. Many homes were destroyed, and man Eldian soldiers died trying to defend the district from Marley. After the Nineteen-year-old Eren Yeagers's assumed death, Shiganshina had been seemed to be less populated.

After Marley had attacked Shiganshina... Seventy-five percent of Shiganshina natives had fled in fear toward the inner walls, such as Wall Rose and Wall Sina. While only Twenty-five percent of Shiganshina natives remained in the district because Shiganshina was all they had left. One person inside that Twenty-five percent of people who stayed in Shiganshina District was a Nineteen-year-old Mikasa Ackerman.

Mikasa had sat on top of a tall fifty-meter wall in Shiganshina and curled herself into a ball with her arms wrapping around her knees. She was depressed. She stared at the front landscape outside of Wall Maria. Her red scarf was wrapped around her neck and lower mouth and blackish-gray eyes were filled with void and emptiness. Ever since Mikasa had lost Eren when Marley had attacked... she had chosen to stay within Shiganshina District and make what was left of the district as her home. Every morning, Mikasa would vertically maneuver her way to the top of the wall and sit their and watch the sunrise. Mikasa would sit in the exact same spot from morning to afternoon.

"Mikasa!"

Suddenly, Mikasa had heard a masculine voice that she had easily recognized.

A Nineteen-year-old Armin Arlert was seen running toward a depressed Mikasa Ackerman. "There you are, Mikasa. Are you alright?" Armin asked, feeling concerned.

"I'm fine, physically." Mikasa answered without looking at Armin.

Armin looked at Mikasa for a moment. As he did, he noticed that Mikasa did not shift her eyes or move her head to look at him. He can tell she was depressed. Armin then looked at the front landscape outside Shiganshina. "It's been one week since Eren had Marley had attacked and withdrawn."

"You mean, when..." Mikasa said, but couldn't bring herself to finish.

"Yeah. When Eren had..." Armin begun to say.

Flashback

As the battle within Shiganshina District had pressed on, the Survey Corp. soldiers such Connie Springer and Jean Kierstein, Armin Arlert and Mikasa Ackerman who were battling Marleyean soldiers and Titan Shifters had somewhat witnessed Eren Yeager disappear from thin air. Eren's friends were all left speechless as they witnessed Eren disappear from out of nowhere. They were shocked and speechless from witnessing the event.

Armin and Mikasa were grappled onto the side of the Shiganshina wall with their vertical maneuvering gear. Dozens of meters high.

Mikasa couldn't believe her eyes as she had watched Eren disappear. Her eyes watered a bit in horror. "EERREEEEEEEEENNN!" Mikasa screamed as loud as she could.

End Flashback

"After that, Marley had fled the walls. But not without taking Zeke Yeager into their custody. And with Zeke gone, who knows what kind of punishment Marley will make him endure?"

Mikasa remained quiet.

"Something tells me that this war isn't over and there's something bigger heading our way." Armin then looked down at Mikasa. "Anyway, I was asked by Floch to come find you. He said we need all soldiers' hands on deck-in case of another atta-"

"I'm not fighting." Mikasa said, swiftly.

Armin raised his blonde eyebrows a few centimeters. "Mikasa?"

"I have no interest in playing toy soldier for him or anyone. And even if I did, what's the point?" Mikasa said.

Armin remained quiet as he let Mikasa continue her speech.

"Eren is gone. I lost all reason to keep fighting. There's nothing or no one left here to fight for or protect at all. And even if we do put up a resistance, there's no way we can stop the entire world from bringing hell onto our doorstep." Mikasa said in a depressed tone.

Armin knew what Mikasa was saying was completely true. Without Eren activating the Rumbling, Shiganshina is doomed from the world's destruction. Armin sighed. "You miss him a lot, don't you, Mikasa?"

Mikasa sniffled as she continued staring at the front landscape. "Why? Why does Eren always have to leave us... when we need him the most? Why does he always have to make us worry?" Mikasa asked as her eyes watered.

Armin suddenly sat down on the ground next to Mikasa facing forward to the landscape. Temporarily. "I don't know. I guess that's just he does best. Always trying to be free and leave his friends worried. It would be nice if he told us where he was going, once in a while."

"Mikasa? Armin?"

Suddenly, both Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert gasped when they heard another masculine voice. They had slowly turned their bodies around. And as their bodies fully turned... they had gasped in shock when they saw the yellow circular dimension. But, what was more shocking is who was on the other side of it. They both saw a tall man with long dark brown hair and green eyes. He also wore a yellow long-sleeved shirt under a big black jacket.

"E... Eren?"

In the Alternate Timeline...

The Nineteen-year-old Eren Yeager, Frieda Reiss, an adolescent Ymir Fritz, Doctor Grisha Yeager and his wife, Carla Yeager had stared at both Mikasa and Armin through the yellow circular dimension from the other side.

"It's them." Adult Eren had muttered as he walked close to the circular dimension without making physical contact with it.

Frieda gasped, then temporary looked at Adult Eren. "You mean..."

"Hm?" Carla looked to Adult Eren.

"That's right. It's..." Adult Eren said as he stared through the circular dimension.

Grisha gasped when he saw the fully grown adult appearances of Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert. 'Those two... are Mikasa and Armin?' Grisha had thought as he stared at them through the yellow circular dimensional ring. Grisha had noted the cut under Mikasa's right eye and the short cut black hair. And he also thought back of when an old ally named Eren Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin's names.

Ymir Fritz simply stared at the circular dimension.

Adult Eren suddenly walked close to the circular dimension without making physical contact with it.

In the Original Timeline...

On the other side of the circular dimensional ring... an adult Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert stood on top of the front Shiganshina wall and stared at the circular dimensional ring. They had spotted a tall man that resembled their childhood friend, Eren Yeager. The last time they had seen and spoken to Eren was inside of a restaurant where Nicolo worked.

"Armin." Mikasa had called his name. "Am I seeing things... or is that person... actually?" Mikasa said as she pointed and stared at Eren through the large yellow circular dimensional ring.

Armin shook his head no and refused to blink his eyes. "No, Mikasa. You're not dreaming as I see it, too. I think that person inside this mirror-looking thing really is..." Armin begun to say. "Eren."

Suddenly, Mikasa Ackerman's eyes had widened as she gasped. She and Armin had seen Adult Eren's mouth move and utter a few words to both her and Armin. Mikasa's eyes begun to tear up after hearing his muted words. Because of those words, Mikasa had gained enough courage to take a single step forward toward the yellow circular dimensional ring.

Adult Eren had suddenly gasped when he noticed something.

"Hm?" Mikasa had paused. And then gasped when she noticed the yellow circular dimensional ring begun to shrink and shrink toward her.

"This strange ring phenomenon! It's disappearing!" Armin noted as the yellow circular dimensional ring was shrinking in a fast pace before his and Mikasa's eyes.

"Tch!" Mikasa grunted, then tried to sprint toward the ring, before it gets too small or disappears.

"Mikasa!" Armin had called.

"E-Eren!" Mikasa shouted as she extended her left arm out toward the portal. But before her left fingertips could touch it, the yellow circular dimensional ring had suddenly vanished right in front of her eyes. As soon as it did, Mikasa gasped and planted her feet on top of the wall and stopped herself from falling down on her face. Her eyes were filled with shock and relief. She was too late.

"Mikasa! Are you alright?" Armin ran behind Mikasa and asked.

Mikasa panted. "That face... that voice... there was no mistaking it. That was Eren!" Mikasa said as she turned back toward Armin.

Armin had gasped.

In the Alternate Timeline...

"It... disappeared..." Frieda Reiss had noted.

"Yes. It appeared that the strange phenomenon had vanished for reasons that we don't know why..." Grisha said as he rubbed his chin with his right hand.

"What on Earth is going on?" Carla asked as she seemed confused.

Eren happened to remain silent as he continued to stare where the circular dimension ring was. His green eyes were filled with different emotions.
