Burned Into Your Soul
AN: So, I'm now on to my last TWD story for now. I have another one in the works, but I want to get this one and my Stargate story finished before I start anything new. Since this is an AU, some characters will still be alive. Anyways, hope you all enjoy this newest chapter and please leave a review!
Chapter 3
The hum of the motorcycle lulled Daryl as he approached the long driveway. As he drove up it and the large farmhouse came into view, Daryl felt the air change around him. His gut started churning, and a feeling of warmth began to overtake him. He hissed as his soul mark began to burn on his skin. Shit! My soulmate is someone in that house!
Daryl weighed his options. He could turn tail and run the other direction, saving his soulmate the misery of knowing him. Even as the thought crossed his mind, he knew it was futile. If his soul mark was burning, then his soulmates would also be burning, meaning she would know he was coming.
Only thin' ta do is get this over wit' and let her down as easy as possible. Even as that thought crossed his mind, he realized he couldn't do that either. Everyone knew that if soulmates didn't accept each other, they would both be in excruciating pain. As much of an asshole as he was, he didn't want to do that to someone innocent just because he didn't want a soulmate. He could accept her as his soulmate and just explain that nothing would come of it. That way she could be let down without all the pain involved. They didn't know each other, so there wouldn't be any real harm. Right?
Realizing he was sitting in front of the farmhouse, Daryl looked around. Standing on the porch was a young blonde girl, her hair in a ponytail and her eyes scanning the group. She looks like she's still a teenager. Must be one of the daughters. He couldn't help but notice that his soul mark still burned on his arm. Ideally, he noticed the girl rub her arm as well. He took in her slim body and long, coltish legs. Wonder what they'd feel like wrapped around- STOP! She's wayyyyy to young ta have those kind a thoughts. Besides, ain't right ta think like that when ya don' even know if she's yer soulmate. Dumb fuckin' redneck asshole. Stop thinkin' with yer dick! Daryl watched her face turn a slightly red color.
As Daryl bashed himself internally, Beth studied the group in front of her. Her gaze kept drifting to the handsome man on the motorcycle. And he was definitely a man. He looked like he was at least in his thirties. She noticed his unabashed perusal of her body, and felt her face begin to heat up. She also noticed her soul mark still burned on her arm. She rubbed it unconsciously, taking note that he did the same. Could he be the one? Beth looked him over. He wore a leather vest over a shirt with the sleeves torn off. His jeans hugged his legs, and he had boots on his feet. His hair was a brownish red and seemed to gleam in the sunlight. His face was quite handsome and his arms were very defined. She noticed the crossbow hanging over his shoulder and had to refrain from gasping. A crossbow! He HAS to be my soulmate! Well, lets see if I'm right..
"You must be from Rick's group. I'm Beth Greene. My daddy owns this farm," Beth told the group in front of her. She noticed the man on the motorcycles head lift sharply when she said her name. Does he recognize my initials? "You already met my older sister Maggie. My daddy's name is Hershel."
To her disappointment, a dark haired man stepped forward. "Name's Shane Walsh miss. Me and Rick are partners on the force. We appreciate yer family allowin' us to come here."
Beth waited, but no one else stepped up to share their names. So Beth took matters into her own hands. "No problem. And what are the rest of yer names?"
An older gentleman stepped forward. "My name is Dale Horvath and this is Andrea Harrison and her sister Amy," he said, indicating the two blonde women next to him. "Over there is Carol Peletier and her daughter Sofia, next to them is T-Dog Douglas and Glenn Rhee." Beth nodded politely, but waited impatiently for the last name to be said.
Finally, Dale said, "And the young man by the motorcycle is Daryl Dixon."
Daryl and Beth stared at each other. The same thought went through two headsā¦
I found my soulmateā¦
