"Slit-Mouthed Alvida" is a malevolent figure in the East Blue seas urban legends and folklore. Described as the malicious spirit, of a pirate woman, she partially covers her face with a mask or other item and carries an iron mace. She is most often described as having long wavy black hair, pale skin, and stated to wore a cowboy hat, dressed in a pearl necklace, a bikini top, and tight Capri-length pants, has a purple coat draped over her shoulders, and wears a pair of sandals. She is considered beautiful (except for her scar) by people that stated to have seen her and some actually fell in love with her. She has been stated to haunt Goat Island.
According to legend, Slit-Mouthed Alvida was a pirate woman who was mutilated during her life, with her mouth being slit from ear to ear. Her demise happen on Goat Island an island in the East Blue it is small rocky island where small rocks covered the shoreline and the center of the island is a small forest. Her and her pirate crew made the island their base, until another pirate named Captain John and his pirate crew attacked the island. A battle broke out between the Alvida's pirate crew and Captain John's pirate crew. Eventually Alvida's pirate crew was annihilated and Alvida herself got sliced on the corners of her mouth from ear to ear by Captain John, and was horribly mutilated.
After her death, she returned as a vengeful spirit with her mouth covered with a cloth mask. She carries a iron mace. She is also described as having supernatural speed. She is said to ask potential victims when visiting Goat Island if they think she is attractive, often saying words like "Am I pretty?" or "Am I beautiful?". If the person answers "no", she will kill the person with her iron mace, and if the person answers "yes", she will reveal her mutilated mouth. She then repeats her question. either saying "Even with this?" or "Even now?" and if the person responds with "no" or screams in fright, she will kill the person with her iron mace. If the response is "yes", she will take out a dagger and slice the corners of the person's mouth from ear to ear, resembling her own disfigurement.
An individual can survive an encounter with Slit-Mouthed Alvida by using one of several methods. In some versions of the legend, Slit-Mouthed Alvida will leave the potential victim alone if they answer "yes" to both of her questions, though in other versions, she will visit the individual's residence later that night and murder the person while sleeping. Other survival tactics include replying to Slit-Mouthed Alvida's question by describing her appearance as "average", giving the individual enough time to run away; distracting her by giving or throwing sugar candies in her direction, as she will stop to pick them up; or by saying the word "pomade" three times.
According to one popular legend, involving Slit-Mouthed Alvida and three youngsters named Koby, Helmeppo, and Rika. The three youngsters came to Goat Island fishing at a port. After they were done fishing they headed back to their boat. On their way they encountered Slit-Mouthed Alvida, she ask them if they think she is attractive. It is stated that Helmeppo responded with a rude "no", she then killed Helmeppo with her mace. She then ask Koby and Rika if they think she is attractive Rika responded with a quick "yes", she then took off her mask and revealed the corners of her slit from ear to ear mouth. Slit-Mouthed Alvida then ask if she is unattractive. Rika immediately said "yes", still thinking but if she said no Slit-Mouthed Alvida will kill her if she said no. Slit-Mouthed Alvida then pulls out a dagger and then cuts Rika on the corners of her mouth in such a way that mimics Slit-Mouthed Alvida's disfigurement. Koby then attempted to flee Slit-Mouthed Alvida but every direction he run to Slit-Mouthed Alvida appears and question if she is attractive. There are two version of the story of how Koby got away from Slit-Mouthed Alvida, in one version he confuses to her that her appearance is "average", causing Slit-Mouthed Alvida to get confuse and leave the scene. The other version is that Koby threw sugar candies at Slit-Mouthed Alvida causing her to pick up the candies, giving Kody the chance to run away.
They say that Koby never returned to Goat Island after that terrifying encounter.
Nowadays if you tell someone that your going to Goat Island, they'll always tell you to bring sugar candy with you, in case you'll encounter Slit-Mouthed Alvida.
