Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Son of The Wolf. Enjoy the 2400-word chapter. I do not own Warhammer, Gameshop does.
It was a terra hour when the son found more of his comrades… It was clear the entire legion was scattered across this planet. Yet? all of them were united by the Warmaster.
The problem was none of them knew about what was growing on at the time as they looked over and around.
The group of Astartes, 40 in total, all began to crest the hill, aiming their bolters down at the time being. All of it was odder and odder and odder at the time.
Something about it all was curious as to it before he looked to the side.
The group began to look for their Warmaster, their leader as he sighed to himself before he looked downwards at the ground.
He cleared his throat and then sighed to himself and cracked his fingers as he looked at the others.
"Does anyone see him?" He asked, his helm marked by small scrapes on his armor.
None answered, none needed to… Most of the legion knew how to act, knew entirely how it would have been done and dusted.
All of it was odd, all of it was something to think about now, and for good reason. Something about it all was confusing the entire group, a problem rectified with plenty of violence.
It was then over the ridge did they noticed something… The edge of the Vengeful Spirit slammed into the mountain. Perhaps the Warmaster was aboard the hulking ship
It was then that more and more of the group, dozens of Astartes quickly became 500 or so soldiers.
They moved quickly, with both power and skill only expected from the tip of the spear Horus had crafted.
"Secure the ship… Find the Warmaster." He stated before he looked over at his brothers.
"Brother Caius… We must also find a place to rest with the others… Most of our fleet is scattered, I have not found them." Caius heard before he looked at his brothers.
"Because we have been banished to this frozen hell… Find the Warmaster, we will find the legion when we find him… Now." Caius stated as he motioned his men towards the flagship.
He knew exactly how it sounded to focus entirely on the business they held onto now, something which he had been ready to deal with, something within him was annoying him.
Caius beckoned his men forward, questioning how well it would go now…. Something about it all had been tiresome. He had been too interested in it all for now as he clicked his fingers like miniature fangs smashing against one another…. It would not do now and for good reason.
He was prepared only for combat, all about it all came down and for good reason, something that he could have done and dusted.
He had to figure it out as he thought of it all, now and for good reason…
Still? The issue had been something to deal with to the end. Something about this all made Caius curious.
"Did we win the war? I see none of the Warmaster's enemies." Caius heard.
"We did not. Because there is a lack of bodies." Caius stated, hummed to himself, and then rested his weapon across his shoulder.
The theory held water… But for the more experienced soldiers in the army? They knew that something was up and it would need to be handled.
All of them were prepared for an issue beyond words, something about it, about this planet? It was odd, it reminded many of the planets they fought during the war.
Caius decided to establish a camp, motioning for the less senior members of the group to begin so.
"What is the plan? We have not the Warmaster and most of them are busy, aren't they?" Caius heard as he sighed.
"That is for the Warmaster to decide, sergeant. We follow his command; we do what he needs of us… Now? Now we must deal with… Secure the area. We have plans to deal with it all for now." Caius ordered as he sighed.
The Warmaster would be found, they were the best of the best when it came to Astartes, a small problem like this would not set them back… They would continue to handle their master's business now.
Something about the ideas they had on their minds was surprising to them all. They had not expected it to be like this… The war was meant to remove a corrupt emperor and to make him realize he was not at the end of the food chain.
Now? Now what? They had a LOT more to deal with now, the fact it had failed, that they had been cast out of chaos, out of their ranks.
Caius pushed all of this to the ends of his brain, problems could be dealt with now, the only issue was simple, they held little when it came to resources and materials.
He decided he did not much care, stomping through the snow towards where the mighty flagship was, it seemed he was not the only one as several Thunderhawks began to land upon the ship.
He hummed, questioned what to do as one of Horus's captains… Then focused on freeing his master, on ensuring that he was free before any type of military-grade plans were made and his army could be free.
All of it was odd to him, all the plans were odder and odder, and he would handle whatever Horus asked.
But for now? the Legion needed its ruler and leader; he was the only one who could save them without another master here to deal with all their issues.
All of it was odd now. It was harder said than done now to fix it all now and for good reason, something about the chaos on their mind was worth something beyond it all, now and for good reason.
This nightmare had been tired now and for good, they had something else to deal with… Something that needed to be done.
For now? Caius was curious, he was all too odd now, something which had been interesting for the time being… He held onto it all now for a good reason.
All of them were at odds with everything… Something about it all had been harder and harder to think about now, they had been too interested in retrieving their commander.
Still? The idea it was something else was odder and odder, very odd now… An idea that had yet to be dealt with.
Caius was silent, very silent, he could not otherwise be silent… It was odd for Horus to be this quiet.
"My sons… Find me on the star's horizon." Caius heard as he paused, thinking for a moment in sheer interest now and for good reason.
Horus? Called to them? He called his sons home?
Fine, then… He would answer as he always has, he would come as he had always come, now and for good reason. It was harder and harder to think of it all now.
Something about it all had become harder and harder to think about it all before now.
He had been too distracted; something now was harder and harder to grasp. Most of it all had distracted him.
Caius hummed, walking ahead, and climbing towards the wreckage… Well, the mighty ship in their fleet, if there was nothing to do…. Nothing to do at the time being… Something about it all was odder and odder, something it might have been able to think about now.
The idea was much harder than said, all of it was a nightmare, and all of it would be easier said than done now.
They have been unable to think of it all… Something about that sort of chaos was beyond everything they had to obtain.
They held onto so little it did not at all matter… Something about it all was harder and harder now.
Caius sighed, tired, and thrown down a shaft that he had not yet been privy to climb into now.
Something about it all had been harder and harder to figure out now… It was clear they would be adrift for now.
"Captain? We have incoming warriors…Enemy Xenos are coming to attack us all now…. Enemy aircraft, 40 in total." Caius heard before he looked downwards.
They held something now and for good reason… Something about it all became harder and harder to deal with.
He sighed, bringing a hand to his earpiece, and then speaking.
"Then destroy them… We deal with the Warmaster first, find them…. Then tell me of plans." Caius ordered as he sighed, thinking of every single damn little idea.
He had plenty of ideas now and for good, now and all. Caius hummed before he looked towards the ground and then thought of it all.
Caius hummed to himself before he looked to the sky, snow starting to fall on his face, his armor protecting him as of it now.
He had not once thought of it all now… Something which had been too tired, too exhausted at the end.
Caius hummed, crossing his arms, and then crossing towards the Vengeful Spirit.
(Aboard the Vengeful Spirit)
Horus grunted, looking over at the rest of the ship… This massive warship, something about it all would have made it done and dusted now at the time being.
Horus hummed as he cracked his fingers, something which had been too much for them to properly understand at the time being, something about it all was harder and harder.
There was a noise as he paused, watching as the rest of his servants seemed to slowly climb to their feet.
Horus paused to think, to act as he looked to the side. There was an idea something had been done at the time being, she had to think of it all before he relaxed.
The soldier had been too curious as soldiers climbed into the ship. They were looking over at him before he sighed to himself, the Warmaster was eager to think of it all before it had come down to it.
Horus had been too interested in it all, had they been abandoned? Yes, he had been abandoned at the time as he clicked his fingers.
He welcomed them…. But it was clear at the time being something was going on; something would end more and more adventurous.
This was not their galaxy, was it? No, of course not. A final torment from their dark masters, that he would be denied to be able to save his people… He had nothing left at the time being.
If he was to wander here? He would not be able to think of it all now.
"My lord? Are you in here?" He heard as he paused, thinking of it all before long.
"Here… I am here." Horus stated, his voice lower than a whisper.
The Lunar Wolves… The Sons of Horus… All of them were beyond this. They were supposed to rule the galaxy but they had been able to think of it like this differently… The galaxy had suffered now.
Horus vowed if he lived. He and his men would not be pawns of the enemies of humanity… He was not a pawn beyond this, none of them were to be, not now and not before it all.
Something about this all had smelt fishy, something about the pain had HURT now, they had been pawns, monsters and he had stomached said pain, believing that they were beyond it, beyond such chaos.
Now? Now he had to realize they were beyond NOTHING… Beyond something had happened to them all along, beyond it all… Now and for good did they have a madness… Now?
He had to think of it all being something that had vexed him. Then? Then he heard more combat outside.
"Warmaster! We need you, there is combat outside!" Caius heard as he paused, thinking of it.
(With Caius)
There was a large army of Xenos outside… 1000 or so of them to be honest, he could hear dozens of Xenos as he turned from the Vengeful.
There were 3 Xeno battlecruisers above them, sending dozens of small attack craft upon them.
The Sons of Horus, however? Did not break… The lines of soldiers began to fire at the fleet's dropships, sending 6 or 7 of them slamming into the ground.
Perhaps it made him curious, something about it all was odder and odder now… He turned and then blinked.
Something about it all made him curious as he looked upwards and into the sky. They had something else to deal with.
"Captain…" He heard as he turned and dropped to his knees.
"Warmaster…." Caius stated before the hulking man passed him.
"This is not Terra, those are not soldiers we have fought against, to begin with…" Caius heard as he hummed.
Caius hummed and looked down at the ground with interest, curious for a moment.
"What is your command?" Caius asked as Horus took in everything.
Even wounded? Horus was 20 times the warrior most of them were, he could only guess what Horus had wanted and his eyes moved over every single variable.
This man had taken gangs of thugs and outlaws, people who were more brutal monsters than warriors… And made them a professional army, a force who had reckoned the galaxy in his way.
Caius looked at Horus and saw not just a commander… But a ruler of a thousand empires.
It was in this galaxy that the Sons of Horus would be reborn… A new empire under the command of the Warmaster as he had stated before.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter is done! A few things.
I am aware Horus did terrible things and all this and that… I am focusing on him ATTEMPTING to atone for it.
I am aware the Sons were broken after the Siege of Terra… Because Horus is still alive? That will not happen.
This story is mostly about the SOH and not any other legions. I do have a villain planned but for later.
The next chapter will show the SOH fighting the Covenant and setting up their presence in the Halo galaxy. Until the 900-6500 words in 2-10 months, Lighting Wolf out!
