SSG: Corruptus

"Corruptus".

That what was written on a letter that Marco got from his mailbox, he received it before going out for a walk. Marco turned pale that same day.

"Corruptus"... Marco never heard that word before, and to be honest, he is not exactly sure it IS a word at all. He haven't been able to look into it at first time.

Marco tried to look up the word at the local library, and hung around the library for maybe a half an hour.

It's been two years since Marco left Egghead Palace and never looked back, and had to deal with the stress of being stalked by possible Government Agents, the cyrupted Den Den Mushi calls he received, the broken windows, which Marco thinks that his treatment is a way for the Agents to keep him off the track about Egghead Palace. They want him confused, scared, and most of all they want him quiet.

There's a team of men and women in suits that Marco have seen at random places. Here and there. Marco call them "The Focus Agents" because they pop up wearing suits and ties and hats and they seem to be holding clipboards and pens, taking notes about everything he does in town. The first time he noticed them, they were following him through the Market. He looped and turned, trying to be SURE they were following him... and there they were, every step of the way. Days later, Marco spotted them again from the window across his cabin.

Marco chased one down, once. The tubbiest one. They stayed silent through the entire chase and even the scuffle that ensued. When he wrenched the clipboard from his hand, he only found page after page of off-kilter, random gibberish coupled with crude symbols of the World Government emblem. All in red ink.

Marco knows it sounds insane, to say that a group of men and women in black are following him and taking nonsense notes, but I think that's the point. He thinks the idea is that it SHOULD drive him insane, and if it doesn't, he still think he'll go crazy just for talking about Egghead Palace.

It's a no-win situation.

Marco will forever regret that trip to Sphinx Island, but on the other hand he'll always be grateful to the people who have come forward, anonymously to him share their experiences at Egghead Palace including Tsuru.

Marco didn't find any books including the word Corruptus.

So what is "Corruptus"?

The next day, Marco mysteriously received a letter in his mailbox. Marco looked at the letter and read the whole thing. Word for word. It appears to be a list of reports of CORRUPTUS incidents.

The Marines protected the workers during the incident, luckliy a scientist possessed a "authority chip" which command the Seraphims to stop rampaging. The scientist put programming into the Seraphims to obey an indiviual with the authority chip, and to avoid any further Seraphim(s) rampages. Since then future Seraphims are build with a authority chip and programmed to only obey direct orders from higher ups in a hierarchical order. Anyone else must have an authority chip to command them.

It took a few readings before Marco could get his head around this. Then realized the events he had experienced were not part of an isolated incident. The events within S-Room... the Pacifista Seraphims... they seem like part of a much larger problem. What is "Corruptus?", Corrupted Pacifista Seraphims.

Did every worker in Egghead Palace have to create such a terrifying groups of Cyborgs? How desperate the Marines' Special Science Group are on the day, they decided to create the Pacifista units with the intention of replacing the Seven Warlords of the Seas as one of the Three Great Powers, and constructed S-Room, and taken many Sphinx Islanders, who were confused, or scarred for life when they become part of the Pacifista Seraphim project?

These are questions Marco will never able to get answer. He doesn't know if anyone can. Speaking personally, this will probably be the last time Marco will think about Egghead and everything he have learned about it.

Marco thought that's why they went out of their way to keep the public in the dark about so much about the Pacifista Seraphims. Why they covered and bullied to get their way. The World Government didn't want anything like THESE events getting out.
