10 hours prior
All three bridges were closed down for the public. Thousands of people got stuck on both sides without any information on when and how they could go back. Thousands of jobs and work hours were canceled. Many more places had to remain closed because workers couldn't make it to work.
Police advised people to leave the area closest to the bridges because bombs could go off at any second. Panic had risen amongst civilians the information about bomb got leaked immediately to the news. The number of small traumas and cases of high blood pressure increased and ambulances were flying up and down the city's avenues and streets without any rest. Constant noise of sirens, people's screams and cries flooded the air of Gotham city.
Bomb swat teams were called to defuse bombs. They slowly were making their ways to explosives. The Main Land bridges system and architecture was much more complex than the one going to the Zones. It wasn't easy to locate bombs (with Batman's help it was much easier) but also to get to them wasn't an easy task.
That time Batman received two messages from White Shadow with fifteen minutes difference from one another. The first one was about a bomb from the Zone's bridge, it went off under water and it was a relieving news but the second one was saying that White Shadow stuck on the Zone side because the bridge got locked off from using it by a police order. That bridge was the only way connecting Zones and Main Land. Her small Batmobile wasn't made for water obstacles so she would remain on the other side.
Bombs could explode at any moment because there was no way to check when they were installed and how thin got a membrane between two substances.
-Alfred. I need your help. - said Batman calling to his and only ally.
-At you service, Sir. - Alfred answered right away.
-I need you to be my eyes for the city while I am here. You have to let me know if anything is going on in the city.
-I will, Sir.
-Does police finish defusing bombs under fountains?
-No, Sir. At this point they have eight more to go but they had to call one team off the fountains mission and sent people to the bridges.
-Thank you, Alfred. I'll talk to Gordon. Keep me posted.
-Will do, Sir. Take care..- the last Alfred's words were unheard by Batman, he was searching for Captain Gordon.
Batman saw James running around his police forces, the chaos what was happening around him seemed didn't bother Captain that much. All his concern was about bridges he didn't have enough people to go on the third bridge and try to defuse the bomb. Gordon made a decision to take a group from the fountains task but Batman stoped him.
-I'll go on the third bridge.
-What? No it's insane! - Gordon didn't realize the danger.
-You have to keep people on the fountains task. Let them clear all of the bombs and as soon they do it the better we will be. Keep them working and I got the third bridge.
Without listening Gordon's answer Batman turned around and flew from the pier causing delight comments of policemen. They believed in good Batman and his appearance always made people feel better and more secure.
Batman went to the first floor of a service walk of the bridge. The bomb on this particular bridge was almost at the end of it and on the third label of the service walk, very close to the state land. It was a long way for Batman but he was determined to find and destroy the bomb saving the bridge and people of Gotham City… he didn't know that it was too late…
