CHAPTER 16
The delivery guys came with the beds , mattresses and dressers. All the furniture was settled in both the boys' rooms. The Winchesters first transferred DJ's stuff from Sam's room downstairs to his new room. And then they transferred Adam's stuff from Dean's room. DJ was sitting on the floor playing with his toys and Adam was in his room playing video games.
Sam and Dean were both in Dean's office. Dean was explaining to Sam where he kept all his contacts and files. He also handed his books of account to his brother.
"Here Sammy , this mess is now your responsibility. You settle it and then call the dealers for the parts from the list I gave you. And I am gonna go repair some cars." Dean said handing Sam a list of contact numbers of all the dealers and also a file of his accounts.
"Yes boss , ya got it." Sam said saluting Dean.
"Stop with the boss crap and do your work and I am gonna go do mine." Dean said making his way out to the garage. Its been a long break that he had taken from work with visiting Sam and all. He really couldn't afford anymore free time now.
Sam settled down and started working on Dean's balance sheet first. After about two hours Sam ran a hand through his hair tiredly. Dean wasn't joking when he said his books were a mess. Sam wondered how Dean managed to stay in business with such messy accounts. There were some dealers whom he had paid twice and whom he hadn't paid at all. 'Alright, Sam stop bitching. And do some work.' Sam thought to himself and with that he started working.
DJ was bored. He had played with all his toys. He looked at his favourite toy which was a stuff dog his uncle Dean had bought him and said,
"Max I bored. Unca Dean is in gar-age and I no allowed to go there. Adam is taking a nap. And daddy is working too. "
DJ was tapping his little fingers on his chin with his face deep in thought as he was trying to find a way to cope with his boredom. Then finally after about two minutes of deep thinking, well as deep as a toddler could , he stood up with Max in his arms and made his way towards his daddy.
Sam looked up from the accounts he was sorting when he heard someone knocking.
"Come in." Sam called and saw DJ entering the office with Max in his arms.
"Daddy I bored. Adam is napping and unca Dean is in gar-age." DJ said walking towards his father and plopping on the floor. His little face had a petulant expression and he was sitting with his arms crossed. Sam knew that DJ needed a nap thats why he was getting cranky. Sam looked at the work he had done. He felt a little proud of himself for sorting atleast one third of the mess that were Dean's accounts. He figured he could use some break too.
"Okay how about we go to your room ?" Sam asked DJ. No sir ! He would not use 'nap' word at all around his son. His son hated naps. So he would have to deal with it very carefully.
"Why ?" DJ asked narrowing his eyes. The kid was smart after all. He had a doubt that Sam would make him take a nap.
"You know this place is kinda boring with all the work around so thats why. Lets go to your room." Sam said shrugging his shoulders.
DJ thought for a moment and then nodded. He was still looking suspicion but he lead the way towards his room with Sam following behind.
Sam felt like he was some undercover agent on a mission where the success of the mission depends on making his son take a nap. On entering DJ's room, Sam made his way towards DJ's bed and lied down.
"Daddy you napping ?" DJ asked in a whining tone.
"Nope. I heard somewhere that it feels good if you lie down on a bed with your eyes closed. You wanna try ?"
"But its not napping ?" DJ asked his daddy.
"I know you hate naps , kiddo. Its not napping." Sam said.
DJ walked towards Sam and Sam picked him up and placed his son next to him on the bed .
"Okay now close your eyes." Sam said and closed his own eyes too.
When there was no sound at all around him. Sam figured that DJ had finally fallen asleep and he opened his eyes to find his son staring at him like a serial killer. His son was a toddler that's why he was looking cute staring at him like that otherwise it would have been pretty scary.
"I don't feel good closing my eyes." DJ said and Sam nodded sighing.
"Yeah , I figured." What was he thinking going with this stupid plan ?
"Lets talk." DJ said and Sam had to hide his smile because the way his son said 'lets talk' with a serious expression , it was freaking adorable.
"Okay what you wanna talk about ?"
"I don't know. What day is it ?" DJ said.
"Tuesday." Sam replied. Well that was quite random. Sam wondered why he even bothers to get surprised anymore from DJ saying random things. Because it happens on a daily basis , DJ could say anything at anytime.
"I don't agree with it. I want Monday."
"I don't think we could do that. Besides you are the only person I ever met who wants a Monday."
"Why ?" DJ asked looking confused at his father.
"Because nobody likes Monday." Sam replied. Sometimes he wants to just videotape every conversation he have with his son so that he could show that to DJ when he is all grown up. DJ always says funny and sometimes embarassing things and that right there could be an awesome blackmail material that he could use on his son.
Sam thought smirking.
"I like it. It has a M. But Tuesday has a T. I hate it." DJ said and with that he started crying. Sam's mouth was open. Because that right there was the most nonsense thing he ever heard for someone to cry on. But he did what he had to do.
"Its okay son." Sam said and gathered DJ in his arms. He was rubbing DJ's back and hoping like heck that the kid would cry himself to sleep.
"I miss Monday."
"Me too, buddy." Who missed Monday ? No-one and who cries on that , again no- one.
After about half hour more of DJ crying as if 'Monday' was a freaking person who was his favourite and who had died and Sam explaining him that he would get another Monday soon , he finally fell asleep. 'Welcome to parenting.' You have no idea about the things that your kids could cry on. For your mental health don't think about it and just go with it. Well, that was Sam's mantra.
Sam laid DJ down as gently as he could. He covered his son with his favourite Spiderman blanket and placed Max next to him. And then he kissed DJ's forehead and made his way out.
He entered the kitchen for a much needed cup of coffee and saw Dean taking out a beer from the fridge.
Dean saw Sam looking really tired. "Hey , you alright."
"Yeah , I'm fine. Just put DJ for his nap. Man, he was crying real hard." Sam said making coffee.
"What did you do this time , Sam ?" Dean asked in a no nonsense tone. He hated seeing DJ crying more than anything.
"What do you mean 'this time' ? I didn't do anything. He was crying because he missed 'Monday' and he hated "Tuesday'. That doesn't even make sense , man." Sam said shaking his head.
Dean started laughing hard. "Well you have a weird kid who likes 'Monday' but he gets that from you. I remember you used to cry over stupid things too when you were DJ's age."
"I didn't." Sam said scowling and shaking his head.
"Yep you sure did , kiddo. I am gonna tell about that at dinner tonight. That would be fun." With that Dean made his way towards the garage still laughing and carrying a bottle of beer in his hands.
"You would not." Sam called after his brother. But he knew Dean would. He just hoped that Dean would forget all that. Well that was unlikely but it doesn't hurt to hope , right. He shook his head and made his way towards the office to sort some more accounts and talk with some dealers that Dean had told him to.
