Remus can't believe he was talked into this. He looked down at the wolf-themed masquerade mask in his hands. It was gold and white. His friends said that they were doing a theme, but all Remus could think about was half of his scars showing. Would they think of him as a werewolf? No, James said they won't notice. Hell, Sirius said the same thing. Peter didn't say anything though, which made him even more nervous. Something was going on with Peter.

Remus shook his head as he walked into the building in the woods putting his mask over his face. There was no wind in the trees. That could mean anything, but Remus wasn't worried.

He smiled when he saw his friends all wearing their animal-themed masks. Soft music played in the background. Remus waved at them. Sirius and James waved back but Peter didn't move at all as he stood behind his friends.

"Hey, Moony! Get over here!" Sirius yelled even though it wasn't that loud in the room. Remus rolled his eyes and walked over to his friends. The soft mud made him sigh. He hated mud, but he ignored it.

"Why are we here again?" Peter asked, pushing his way in between his two friends. However, no one answered.

"Alright, we need to find Lily," James said, looking around the room. People danced around the room wearing masks in different colors and sizes. The room was large even though they were outside. Trees and vines lined the makeshift walls. The smell of mud, grass, and other people filled Remus's sensitive nose. "Lily!" James called pulling Sirius along with him to the dance floor.

"What the hell?" Sirius hissed but James started to dance with Sirius.

"I need to find Lily, and she'll be here, on the dance floor," James whispered back.

Remus laughed at his best friends as they danced. As he watched, however, his mind started to wander.

"Are they seeing my scars?' he thought as he continued to watch James and Sirius run over to the drinks. He laughed a little. He smiled when James found Lily. His werewolf hearing picked up what they were saying over the music that got louder.

"Hey, you made it. Hello Sirius,"

"Hey Lily," Sirius said back.

"James, would you like to dance?" Remus smiled as James and Lily walked onto the dance floor. Sirius smiled at him. He could not believe that they got together. It was so unlikely.

"Would you like this dance?" Peter said holding out his hand. Remus rolled his eyes but laughed anyway. He took Peter's hand as they started to dance.

After a while, Remus felt Peter getting tired but he wouldn't let go. Remus felt something burning his arm. "We are all wearing masks," Peter whispered to him. Remus raised an eyebrow as he tried to pull free, but his arm burned no matter how much he pulled.

"You're hiding something," Remus said, and they both knew it was not a question. Peter didn't answer, however, as they spun in a dance.

"Don't tell the others," Peter said pulling up his sleeve. All Remus could hear was the ringing in his ears.

"You're a…"

"Shh," Peter whispered as they continued to spin. "I said don't tell anyone," Remus shook his head.

"I need to Peter," Remus said pulling Peter out of his arms. However, this made him cry out in pain and falling to the ground. Peter looked down at his friend ignoring James, Sirius, and Lily running over.

"What happened?" James demanded helping Remus to his feet. Peter didn't say anything as he shook his head. He pulled out his wand.

"I told you, don't tell anyone," Peter warmed before he walked away. However, Remus pulled out his own, making his arm hurt but he didn't care.

"You're a Death Eather!" Remus yelled, making the music and the people stopped. Peter sighed and walked away.

"Yeah, and you're a…."

"Shut up!" Remus yelled. The wolf showing through his eyes. Peter laughed before he walked out of the woodsy hall. Remus flinched at his arm as he put his wand away.

They found Remus sitting on a bench later putting something on his arm. Tears and anger were in his eyes. "How could he do that?" Sirius asked. However, no one answered.

"We should be careful now," Remus whispered watching the people leave. "I can't believe he would do this. Why did he tell me?" Remus said in a lower whisper. Again no one answered.

"We…we should get back to my house," James said holding out his hand. Remus took his hand and nodded silently.

"Peter betrayed us," Sirius said as they all sat in James's bedroom. "We should get back at him," He suggested, applying bandages to Remus's brunt arm. Remus shook his head.

"No, he'll get what's coming to him," Remus said darkly. Sirius looked over to James who walked back into the room with butterbeer.

"Lily's downstairs helping Dad," James said sitting at the desk. Both Remus and Sirius nodded.

"What are we going to do?" he asked sitting down. Remus thought for a moment. 'What are they going to do? Peter is a Death Eather and knows about them.'

"I don't know. Have you told your parents?" Remus asked James, who nodded.

"Yeah," James answered taking a sip.

"Then we wait. But he is no longer one of us," Remus said coldly. James and Sirius both nodded. Darkness was coming faster than they thought but they could beat it. Remus knew it.
