Chapter 10

Elsewhere in the school.

"Oooo look at her, what a nice girl she is…"

Mochi was speeding through the halls. She HATES it when boy ogle her like, but there was no end to it. She was lucky to have a locker next to Nisha, but that in itself became a problem. The boys were flirting with her and Amaya as well. They handled it better than her, the two smiled and thanked them for their words but said.

"If I wanted to be spoken to like that, I would let my brothers mock me. Until you decide to speak to me PROPERLY… kindly keep your distance."

She knows the two won't let any boy walk over them let alone get away with saying gross and disgusting things to them.

Mochi didn't have that confidence.

She would jump if someone touched her, she flinched if she grazed another in the hall. All in all, she couldn't deal with boys right now… not after THAT incident…

"HEY GIRL!"

She jumped once more as four of them came from behind her. Mochi clenched her books tightly as she tried to glare them away.

"Aww, she's like a scared kitten isn't she?" snickered one.

"Kittens have claws…"

Her heart settled, she turned and saw Shin lingering near by. "I don't think it's wise let alone polite to compare her to a kitten," he warned.

"Look man, we're just complimenting her!"

"Yeah, and I see how much she is enjoying said 'compliments' you have been sending her. Look guys, we're new, this school is new, how about backing off my sister for the time being…"

"SISTER?!" they demanded.

"Yeah… sister, my brother goes to this school too…"

"Yeah, what's his name?"

"Rook,"

They went pale.

It was strange since Rook hasn't done anything recently… has he? It was nearly the end of the day, Mochi hasn't heard nor seen what occurred during gym class for her brother. But she turned to Shin who appeared curious now too.

In fact, when they finally found Rook, he was commanding the halls! Apparently athletic types tend to rule the grounds here. "HEY!" he called and waved them over. Mochi was quick to get to his side.

"What's going on?" she whispered.

"Sort of showed off during gym, but at the moment I got a fight I got to go to, so don't wait up for me…"

She froze.

"A… fight?" she whispered.

"It will be over in five seconds… maybe ten, I like to linger."

She turned to Shin who merely sighed. "You know the rule…" he said in a warning tone.

Rook's smile only grew.

"What rule?" Mochi asked.

"Pops said that I should only fight if I have to fight, and if I am to fight not to kill them, and ensure I don't break many of their bones. Easy enough!" he said confidently.

"We'll watch to be sure, and I'll explain to pops what happened." Shin said with a sigh.

Mochi cringed at the notion.

She isn't use to any of this yet, it all happened so fast and she feels so cheated out of it too! She rather still be that little girl that played with fire kittens… but even now if she tried to create them, they wouldn't be kittens anymore.

"We got one more class, so let's hold off until then and go from there," Shin insisted.

Mochi nodded as she was quick to find Hoshi and join him. They have the same class at the end of the day and she doesn't leave his side until it is all over.

"Oh man, I'd hit that…"

"Nice ass on her…"

"Look at those eyes, cute little baby girl eyes…"

She sunk deeper into her chair. She hated those words being spoken. Hoshi peered at her before glaring at those whispering about her features. "Shut the hell up!" he snapped at the boys.

"Why, she your girl friend or something?" one teased.

"And if she is?" he snapped back and began to stand. "You want to take that risk?"

They silenced themselves. Hoshi sat back down as Mochi peered to him and mouthed 'thank you'.

He gave her a wink as they began their final lesson of the day.

When the bell went off to end the school day, the boys rushed out!

"Oh right… THAT." Hoshi muttered. "Wanna go see your brother mess some people up?"

"I don't think I have much of a choice in the matter."

They went outside and shoved their way to the front. Rook was standing in this circle of schoolmates from the youngest to the oldest grade here. "So, some of you in my age group are pissed off with me… fair. And it will just be a matter of time before I piss off the seniors. So let's just sort this shit out now and not have to worry about it later. So, if there's a pecking order in this school, bring out your elite and we resolved this here and now!"

"What is he doing!?" Mochi whispered in shock.

"I think he is saving himself some time and headaches. Knowing mortals, they do have a rank order as it were, the strong bully the weak correct? Rook already knows he has a target on his back, doing this, it will make him less of a target."

"How?" she whispered.

Hoshi smirked. "Because, they know if they challenge him to a fight, he will show up."

No one said a word as the seniors came forward.

"Ah look what we got here, the cream of the crop right? I heard of you. You are the captain of the sumo team, the wrestling team and kickboxing huh? Nice to see this school has choices…"

"What's a small fry like you doing running his mouth around here!" asked the sumo captain.

Rook smiled. "Not really running my mouth, just saying what needs to be said. I know you guys have kid brothers or underlings in my grade who told you of me, so that's why you're here right? I'll take the three of you on here and now all at once."

They froze a little before snorting a smile. "What did you say small fry?" asked the kickboxing captain.

"You three, against me… you might wants some friends to help…"

Mochi peered away as the three went charging, not for the sake of her brother… but what her brother would do to them.

It was over in seconds, she heard three thud and peered as the sumo captain was dropped. They were out cold.

Rook then stepped by them and looked to the masses. "Who else?!"

She didn't think anyone would be stupid to come forward, but then… he was rushed at by twenty students!

#

"I really though I made a point…"

Rook, sat contently on a pile of knocked out students. Looking about Mochi figured he took out every strong, athletic and sorcerer here! He casually walked down the pile of fallen students before joining them.

"You just had to challenge everyone…" Shin muttered.

"I don't think my dad would have let me do that!" protested Kiyoshi.

"Well, you would have seriously killed everyone," Rook snapped back. "I know how much force I need to use to knock a human out. So…" he said offhandedly.

They decided not to speak of this event to anyone… until it was necessary.
