Author's Note: Still haven't decided on the solid pairing, but still leaning very heavy on the invisible girl for a lot of comedy related reasons.

When Izuku woke up the morning following his third second meeting with his favorite Hero, and his potential life-long grounding threat from his mother should he ever perform vigilantism again, Izuku found himself awake much earlier than he normally awakened, even by his alarm clock.

It was five in the AM, which was just an hour before his mother woke up to make breakfast before she went off to work. On the days she worked late, she was allowed to arrive at a later time for the next shift.

Without even thinking about, Izuku rolled out of bed and strolled out of his room toward the kitchen. School was a few more hours away, so he had plenty of time to prepare himself. So he started making breakfast for his mother.

He checked the fridge and found that they had enough for a decent spread. As he got started he felt something at the back of his neck. "Khaji-Da?"

{Yes.} The Scarab said, {I did not mean to alarm you.}

Izuku gave a soft smile as he continued working, "You didn't," he said, "I just thought you might be awake when I felt a tickle at the back of my neck." He started filling the rice cooker, "Is everything okay?"

He felt amusement from the Scarab, {I believe that is a question that I should be asking, is it not?} Khaji-Da questioned, {To respond to your query: there is nothing that is wrong with myself, however, while you rested, I was able to do a full scan of your body.} Izuku frowned as the Scarab seemed worried: was there something wrong with him? {I do not wish to be rude as you and I now share a body, however, your torso and arms seem to have suffered some form of trauma that has left heavy surface scarring.} Ah, now Izuku understood why he seemed worried. {Were you attacked by someone with destructive abilities?}

Izuku sighed as he took a bowl from the cabinets and cracked a couple of eggs into it to begin whisking. "Can't you just see what happened from my memories?" He asked as he started work on a rolled omelet.

{Indeed, I could, though I believe that would be an invasion of your privacy.}

That made the boy laugh, "Invasion of privacy?" He snorted, "You literally burrowed your way into my spine: I think we're way passed invasive."

{Your point is noted, however, your thoughts and your memories are your own unless you are speaking directly to me,} the Scarab explained, {My hosts in the past were also not pleased to know that I had sifted through their memories to learn more about them, so I have restrained myself from doing so...though I do know that you have wanted to be a Hero since you were an infant. And that many have discredited you for striving to achieve your goal since you lack the special powers that would have allowed you to do so.}

Izuku snorted as he began heating up a skillet, "That's putting it mildly," he muttered, a small half-smirk on his face, "You can go ahead and look through my memories, Khaji-Da, I don't mind."

{Gratitude...though I must warn you that you will feel slight discomfort.} He warned the boy before starting. The discomfort that the Scarab had warned him about came when the boy started seeing flashes of his childhood. Particularly those that involved a certain explosive blond boy that had once been his best friend. In the back of his mind he could feel Khaji-Da growing angry. Finally, he came to the most recent of memories: Katsuki Bakugo telling him to jump from the roof wishing for a Quirk in his next life after reincarnation.

By the time the Scarab had finished sifting through his memories, Izuku, with shaking hands, had finished cooking breakfast for his mother and himself. "I can tell you want to say something, Khaji-Da." Izuku said as he began setting the table before moving over to make a fresh pot of coffee. "Go ahead and say what you have in mind."

The Scarab was quiet for a long while before speaking. {The only thing that I wish to inquire about is why you still view that creature as a friend,} Khaji-Da said, his mood difficult to judge from his mechanical tone, {I have had many hosts, Izuku Midoriya, but few have ever been injured as you have, and by someone that has clearly broken several laws in your society.}

Izuku sighed as the coffee brewed, "I brought a lot of it on myself."

{Doubtful,} The Scarab sounded like it was scoffing, {Even before it was found out that your meta-powers would never manifest, that boy obviously went out of his way to be cruel to you.} He said as his host took a pair of coffee mugs from the cabinet, {And the only time I see you bringing such violence on yourself was when you defended another child from this fool's wrath.} He felt the Scarab on his back twitch, {I realize that you are a gentle person, Izuku Midoriya, however, this friend of yours deserves none of your friendship.}

"I know that you're right about that," Izuku sighed, "But Kacchan was a good person before...before he got his Quirk."

{Power will sometimes change a person for the worse,} the Scarab admitted, {Often times that person will become what you would undoubtedly call a Villain in your current society.} Izuku outright laughed, {You find this amusing?}

Izuku shook his head, "Sort of," he said as he took the pot of coffee and set it on the table, "Because for the longest time, Kacchan and I have been trying to be the same Hero."

This seemed to confuse the Scarab. {Elaborate please.}

The boy shrugged, "You probably know this from my memories, but he and I both idolize All Might as a Hero," he went on, pouring himself a cup of coffee, "I admired him because no matter the situation, All Might alway wore that huge smile on his face, and it brought comfort to those he was helping."

{And we both know that that smile he wears is worn because he hides his fear,} Khaji-Da pointed out as he recalled the memory of Toshinori Yagi lifting up his short to reveal his injury to his host, and explaining how he smiled to hide his fear.

"Still, though," Izuku shrugged, "It takes a lot of courage to do what Heroes do," he said, "And All Might still does the amazing, and near impossible when he's been hurt so badly."

{Noted,} the Scarab relented, {You were telling me how the pair of you admired him for different reasons?}

Izuku nodded as he took a small sip of his coffee, "Kacchan always admired him because he never lost to an opponent," he said and set the cup down, "See? That's where Kacchan and I differ: I want to bring comfort to those that I save with a smile on my face," he sighed as he thought back to Katsuki's bullheadedness. "And Kacchan thinks that being the greatest Hero means never losing to anyone."

The Scarab mulled that over for a moment. {I believe that you are both slightly flawed in your thinking,} he said, catching the boy's attention, {It has been said that a Hero is one that gives of himself, often at great risk of themselves, and always for the good of others. But I have seen that what is seen as good for others is always in conflict.}

"Well, what do you think?" Izuku asked, wanting the Scarab's opinion. "You've lived a long time, and had other hosts besides me. So what do you think makes a good Hero?"

{...Many of my hosts displayed many different qualities that you would approve, and disapprove of,} Khaji-Da said, {You are the first host I have had in over three hundred years. Before the true advancement of what you call Quirks, many humans that called themselves Superheroes were genetically, or mechanically enhanced as you are with since we are bonded. There were also others that hailed from different planets that have long since integrated into your society through breeding, becoming part of the human race, which is where, I believe, your society became so abundant in superpowered beings.}

"That's amazing," Izuku said, filing away the information for later.

{Hardly,} said the Scarab, {Many of those superpowered individuals were nefarious in nature, and even those that fought them were viewed as threats to the world.} Khaji-Da paused, {I am glad that that is no longer the case, even though it seems being a Hero is now considered another form of employment.}

The boy shrugged, "The government did like the idea of Vigilantism being more effective than the police force, so they decided to start employing them as government paid Heroes. Now there are schools across the world that train the next generation."

{Which is what you are striving for,} Khaji-Da said, {To answer your previous query: I have found that truly heroic individuals were compassionate and empathetic toward others.}

Izuku smiled at that, "That sounds like something All Might would agree with," he said, cocking his head to the side when he heard stirring in his mother's room, "Sounds like Mom's getting up."

He was proven right a few minutes later as his mother came out of her bedroom, fully dressed and ready for a long day at the hospital. She saw her son working in the kitchen and smiled, "Oh, Sweetheart, you didn't have to do this," she said as he poured her a cup of coffee, "I know you must've needed the rest after the day you had."

The boy just shook his head, "I feel fine, Mom, really," he said as he pulled out a chair for her, "Besides, I don't mind doing this."

"Still, though, I think you should take this day off and rest," his mother said, much to his surprise as she didn't normally approve of her son missing a single day of school. "And I'm sure that the principal will understand."

Izuku frowned, "Uh, what are we going to tell him?"

His mother shrugged, "What can we tell them?" She asked, "Not the truth, certainly not, you'd be taken away and dissected like a lab rat."

{I find that idea exceedingly unfavorable for a multitude of reason.} The Scarab said while Izuku shivered at the very thought of something like that happening to him. Then there was the fact that Khaji-Da had made it very clear that he would defend himself if Izuku couldn't. He didn't even want to think of what the Scarab was capable of on his own.

"We'll simply say that your Quirk finally manifested," she said with her son giving her a skeptic look, "Oh, don't look at me like that, Dear, it wasn't so long ago that over half the population was still Quirkless. Back then, someone in their thirties could manifest a Quirk, with or without that antiquated toe joint test."

Izuku frowned, "But...I was seen using our armor...what if I get arrested?"

She sighed deeply, "I suppose we'll cross that bridge when we get to it," she said as they began eating the breakfast he had made, "We can't very well keep your friend a secret forever, Dear."

The Scarab twitched at the back of his neck, {I believe she is right, Izuku Midoriya,} he said, {I have already devised a slightly believable narrative in mind to explain myself as a Quirk.}

"Oh, yeah?" Izuku said out loud with a look over his shoulder, his mother looking at him in interest, "Oh, Khaji-Da has an idea about how to tell people that he's a Quirk."

His mother nodded, "Let's hear it, then,"

{Simply put: your mother's Quirk, as explained by yourself, is an untrained form of Telekinesis, which can be defined or branched off into several different powers depending on the genetics involved. Provided that your mother has the potential in her genes, you would be able to explain my manifestation as a form of Technokinesis, an exceedingly rare form of Telekinetic ability that involves technology in any shape or form.}

When Izuku repeated the Scarab's explanation to his mother, she seemed thoughtful for a moment, before she gained a small smile, "You know, it may just work," she said to the pair, "I'm a fourth generation Quirk user, meaning my family has only recently come away from a Quirkless standing. My great grandfather had a very weak form of Technokinesis that could control some minor forms of technology like cars and other vehicles."

"Wow, I didn't know we had someone like that in the family?" Izuku smiled.

His mother nodded, "It's true, Dear, as a matter of fact, your father and I once talked about the possibility of you being Pyrokinetic," she sighed, "Sadly, that wasn't the case. Your father was actually a first generation Quirk user, which meant any children sired by him had a lower possibility of having a Quirk."

Izuku chuckled. When his father had left, he blamed Inko for their son not having a Quirk. Izuku knew that it wasn't true as most Quirks were primarily passed on through the paternal side of the family, the maternal side taking over only if the Quirk was stronger. If the Quirks of both parents were compatible enough, there was a fifty-fifty chance that the Quirks would combine into a single, new mutation, often times being stronger than both.

"Passing Khaji-Da off as a stronger version of your Quirk is a good idea," the boy said thoughtfully, "But how do I explain him being attached to my spine?"

His mother giggled, "Well, Dear, you've heard of sentient Quirks, haven't you?" She asked as the boy nodded, "They're very rare, but not unheard of, Sweetie, which is exactly what we'll tell the Quirk Registration office."

Might Towers - Minato, Tokyo - Toshinori Yagi's Private Office

Toshinori frowned as the man sitting in front of him examined the small vile that contained the Scarab's nanomachines. "Well?" He said as David sat the container down, "What do you think?"

David Shield, a man of medium build with square rimmed glasses, smiled at him, "In all honesty?" He said, "I wish my tech was this advanced." He said while adjusting his glasses. "I can't really tell you anything concrete without putting these little guys under an electron microscope, and maybe dismantling one of them to analyze their circuitry, but if I had to take a shot in the dark, it would be with these things."

Toshinori leaned back in his seat with a sigh, "The Scarab assured me that these little wonders would restore my body to its previous state, but I'm still a little hesitant," he said, "I have no idea how they will affect my Quirk."

David frowned, "If the boy that this Scarab is attached to feels that its telling the truth, then I think you should trust it," he said, leaning back in his own seat, turning the little vile over in his hands, "From what you've told me of this young man, he's a lot like you were in your younger days." Toshinori laughed at that with nod. "And if what you've told me of this entity is true, then it holds this young man in very high regards, so I doubt that it would try to harm someone that the boy respects so much."

Toshinori was silent for a moment, reaching out to take the vile from his friend, "You really think it's safe?"

"I do," he nodded, lacing his fingers together to lean on them, "The world isn't ready to lose All Might, Toshi, but at the rate you're going, you won't last another year." He sat back with a sigh, "I know you're planning to retire soon to take up teaching, but you'd be a lot better off if you didn't have to worry about running out of time before classes end."

Toshinori was looking down at the vile of nanomachines precariously, "I...don't think I should be the Pillar of Peace anymore."

David looked at him in alarm, "What? Why?!"

Toshinori looked up at him, "David...I nearly crushed that boy's dreams...I probably did..." he shook his head, "Yet he doesn't hold anything against me: that's how kind he is."

"That doesn't mean you don't deserve the chance to make it up to him," David said with a small frown, "Listen, Toshi, I get it: you hurt someone you were trying to protect. It happens. No one's perfect." He sat back, "If we were, then my wife would still be alive after I found the cure for her cancer." He muttered sadly, the shrunken Hero looking at him in surprise, "But we're not. My wife died holding both mine, and my daughter's hands. You defeated one of the greatest Villains that's ever been known, but you can't do your job anymore because he nearly took you with him." David leaned forward again, "But you have a chance here, Toshi." He pointed to the nanomachines. "Not only can you regain your strength, but you can make sure that that boy you think you failed becomes one of the best Heroes out there, and make sure that you can be the person he looks up to."

Toshinori saw the man's reasoning, but still hung his head, "It's not just that," he sighed, "Haven't you noticed that a lot of Heroes are getting downright lazy these day?" He frowned as he thought back to the previous day, "Kamui Woods, Mount Lady and Death Arms almost allowed a middle school student to be murdered in broad daylight, and in front of a crowd...all because they didn't want to risk it!" He spat in disgust, "No! I can't be the only pillar holding up our society! Not when there's so many just riding on my cape!"

David smirked at him, "You haven't worn a cape since that incident with that missile," Toshinori blushed as David laughed at him, "I still can't get that look on your face outta my head!"

"It could've happened to anyone!" Toshinori half-shouted.

"Who knocks out the bad guy, and doesn't disarm the missile before chatting up the cute hostage?" He laughed much to the Hero's embarrassment, "That was the highlight of our first year together as partners! I mean, in the history of Heroes, you're the only one that had their cape snag on a rocket just as it was taking off!"

"Will you listen!?" Toshinori begged while the man regained some control over himself, "Anyway, as I was saying, I'm planning to take this chance at U.A. to bring the next generation into the fold full force," he continued with a small cough, "It's like I said, I can't be the singular pillar of peace as I have been...I can't be everywhere at once, small mercy that Star and Stripe's taking up the role in America!"

David chuckled, "She's doing pretty good as far as being the No.1 Hero in America," he said, "Still not as popular as you are, though."

"Popularity is the whole problem in some cases." Toshinori said, "Endeavor's methods are extreme, but he's earned his spot more times than I can count with how many cases he's solved. He's beaten me in that regard," he chuckled, "Doesn't make him less of a prick, though."

David shrugged, "His whole problem is that he's too indifferent to his true admirers." He sat back with a thoughtful look on his face, "And he's brutal. His kill count is higher than yours right now."

Toshinori nodded, "He can't really help that part." He said in the man's defense, "His Hellflame Quirk makes it impossible for him to do anything without excessive force." He recalled a few times that he'd been forced to team up with the man. Brutal would have been an understatement in his treatment of the Villains. "But back to what I was talking about: once I start teaching, the first years I'm going to be mentoring will be groomed to be the pillars that hold our society up when I finally do retire from active duty. Not a single pillar, but hundreds! All of them supporting each other and the society that we fought for!" He spread his arms out widely.

David smirked at him, "That sounds like a electoral speech, Toshi," he jibed, "If I didn't know any better - "

"Oh, please," Toshinori shook his head, "That's the last job I'd want."

"Still, this is a pretty bold move on your part," David said, looking down at the nanomachines he still held, "But I can see you being there for a long time...provided your mind is made up?"

Toshinori sighed as he brought the vile up, "It is," he sighed as he pressed a button on the side, prompting a needle to slide out of the end of it. Toshinori raised his eyes to his friend, "The Scarab said that there would be pain...will you stay?"

David nodded, "I'm not going anywhere, old friend."

Toshinori smiled at him before he rolled up his sleeve and jabbed the needle into his arm. There was a hiss as the nanomachines were injected, but other than the sting of the needle, "Hmm, strange," he muttered as he placed the empty vial on the table between them, "From what the Scarab told me, I would've thought that there'd be - UGH!"

"Toshi!"

David rose as his friend suddenly clutched at his side, vomiting blood onto the table.
