Contains pure millymeryl fluff. There's not enough love out there for these two.

Milly hummed to herself as she looked over a bubbling pot on the stove. The scent of the stew she'd been preparing wafted through the air and arrived at her nostrils, and she breathed in, savoring the rich aroma. It had taken hours, but her masterpiece was nearly complete; as she stirred, she could sense the ingredients coming together in the pot, combining with each other to create a delicious dish. A dash of salt and pepper would complete the recipe- the final step would be to conduct a taste test, and she already had somebody in mind to help her complete the task.

Moving towards the cupboard, Milly selected a blue-tinted porcelain bowl and set it next to the pot. It had been a housewarming gift from her parents, who had taught her how to make the recipe many years ago. As she ladled the stew with a wooden spoon, she couldn't help but be reminded of family meals back home at the ranch where she grew up. She'd have to write back home and give a full review in her next volume of the Milly Monthly.

Milly carefully carried the bowl down the hall with her. She arrived at a door and knocked, sticking her head in the room to see Meryl, who was hunched over at a little table under the window. "Still hard at work?" She asked.

"You could say that," Meryl said, glaring at the seemingly endless sea of paperwork that scattered her desk. "I've hardly made a dent in these claims, and I've been at it since this morning."

"You're not too busy to try something I've been working on in the kitchen, are you?"

Meryl looked to the stack of files on the table, then back to the bowl in Milly's hands. She told herself that she wouldn't take any breaks, but the smells that were floating through the apartment were enough to drag her away from her desk. "That's a trick question, you know," Meryl said. "I wouldn't miss a chance to try your cooking."

"You're too sweet, Merry," Milly said with a smile, leaning down to kiss her beloved's head. "I promise to make things extra special. I got a lovely bread from the bakery this morning. And for desert, I whipped up a homemade chocolate pudding!"

"Every meal I get to share with you is special," Meryl said, leaning into Milly's embrace. "Even if it was something as simple as take out, I'd be glad to be having it with you."

"Hey, what's gotten into you? I think all that work is messing with your brain," Milly said with a giggle, grabbing her partner's hand. "Here, this soup's probably gone cold. Let me dish you up a nice, hot bowl!"

Meryl sighed as she lovingly watched Milly dishing up the stew in the kitchen, and reckoned that these little pockets of bliss made life on a barren desert planet worth living.
