"He turned his back on me just because you returned!" Sakura said, pain evident in her voice. "But it's my fault, that I even gave you the chance. I should have learned my lesson years ago!" She shouted at Sasuke, as she is packing her bag.
Sasuke's eyes narrowed when he heard Sakura's words. "Who?" he asked, his hand gripping tight at the pink-haired upper left arm. "Who are you talking about?" The rest of Sakura's words were lost to him as his mind fixated at the first few words she said.
Sakura winced at the pain that Sasuke grip is causing her. Fear is coursing through her system as she stared at Sasuke's mismatched red and violet eyes. "Let me go!" She demanded. But the Uchiha's grip didn't waver.
"Who is he, Sakura?" he asked in a low, deadly voice.
"It's none of your business!"
"It is my business!" he bellowed. "You're packing your bags; you're leaving me! Who is it, Sakura? Tell me!"
Sakura's heart raced as Sasuke's grip tightened, and she winced in pain. He had it all wrong! She is not leaving to reconnect with an old flame, but for her safety.
"I'm not leaving because I have somebody else! I'm leaving because one way or another, you'll end up killing me!"
Sasuke's eyes widened in shock as Sakura's words hit him like a lightning bolt. He hadn't anticipated that response at all. His hand fell away from her arm, and he stumbled back, his expression a mixture of disbelief and guilt. He had been so consumed by his own jealousy and insecurity that he hadn't considered the real reason behind Sakura's actions.
"Sakura, I..." he began, his voice filled with remorse, but he didn't know how to continue. The realization that his actions had driven her to this point was a heavy weight on his shoulders.
Sakura kept her distance, her eyes filled with a mixture of hurt and frustration. "I love you, Sasuke, but I'm tired of understanding you. I'm tired of putting myself in danger just to be with you. Enough is enough, I had put up with your unpredictability for far too long. First, you threw a kunai at me, just because I entered our room. Our room, Sasuke! Then, I wake up in the middle of the night with you looming over me, holding a kunai over my throat. Sometimes, I wake up in the middle of the night, blinded by the light of your chidori and I lock myself in the bathroom, hoping that you're not going to struck it in me. I'm always sleeping with one eye open. One day, it won't just be near miss. You're going to end up finishing the task you failed to do before."
Sasuke stood there, struck by the gravity of Sakura's words. He had been aware of his own inner turmoil, but he hadn't fully comprehended the extent of the fear and danger he had brought into Sakura's life. The weight of his actions and the potential harm he had posed to her finally hit home.
"Sakura," he whispered, his voice filled with remorse and self-loathing. "I never meant for any of this to happen. I don't... remember doing those. I'm so sorry for what I've put you through."
Sakura's expression remained tense, but her anger seemed to subside as she saw the genuine regret in Sasuke's eyes. "That's the thing, Sasuke. You don't remember. But I do, and I'm tired of gambling with my life on the line. You are not the only one that lost so much. But you let the darkness consume you."
At her words, Sasuke's mind reverted to the person that Sakura said before. "Then who is he, Sakura?" He demanded, his voice unforgiving. "Who is he that is so great that you can compare me to him?"
Sakura hesitated, torn between revealing more and protecting Sasuke from further pain. But she knew she needed to be honest. "Sasuke, it's not about someone being 'greater' than you. It's about me feeling safe. It's about protecting my own life. I don't want to hurt you, but I also can't keep putting myself at risk."
Sasuke's expression shifted from anger to mad jealousy. "Who. Is. He?" Sasuke punctuated each word to get his message across. Who would be so great that he can make Sakura feel so safe? Did he lose everyone the same way he did? Did he have to kill his own brother just to realize that he is only trying to protect him?
Sakura's eyes evaded Sasuke's. She doesn't want to put anyone in danger. And it's a moot point, he left her. She is not leaving to reconnect with him.
"You don't have to know."
Sasuke's frustration and jealousy were reaching their breaking point as he tried to make sense of Sakura's actions and words. His emotions swirled, and he demanded to know more about the person Sakura was alluding to. His mind was racing with possibilities, and his pride was wounded.
"Who is he, Sakura?" Sasuke's voice dripped with venom. The darkness is consuming him again, and without meaning to he gathered chakra in his hand and the cackling of a thousand birds resonated in the small room. Sakura's eyes widened in fear as the ominous jutsu was again directed in her direction.
"Sasuke, please. Just let me go."
"You are not going anywhere, Sakura. You can't leave me. So I'm going to ask again, who is he?" Sasuke is stalking her while Sakura took a step back trying to maintain their distance. But her attempts were futile as her back touched the wall, there no more place for her to run.
Sasuke is looming over her, his face is twisted with anger, his Sharingan spinning in his eyes. Sakura's heart pounded in her chest, her breath quickened, and she realized that she needed to tread carefully to deescalate the situation.
"Sasuke, please, just calm down," she implored, her voice trembling. "This isn't the way to handle things. I don't want to fight with you."
But Sasuke's rage seemed uncontrollable at this moment. "I want answers, Sakura!" he thundered, his hand crackling with electricity as he readied the Chidori, its menacing glow casting eerie shadows in the room.
Seeing the deadly jutsu in Sasuke's hand, Sakura knew she had to reveal the truth, even if it would hurt both of them. She swallowed hard and spoke in a barely audible voice, "It's Kakashi, Sasuke. I'm trying to protect myself from you, not reconnect with him."
