Summary: Luz and Camila have a long overdue talk, which leads to a few surprises.
Camila, Lilith, and Eda reached Luz's room and found Vee looking through the door worryingly.
"How is she?" Eda asked seriously.
Vee looked at the mothers, and they saw just how worried the basilisk was. This worried them, but they steeled their nerves as they peeked into the human's room.
It broke the human and two witches' hearts when they saw the state of one of their girls; Luz was bunched up on her bed and was covered from head to toe. Her face was exposed, but that was because Amity might have uncovered it when she went to check on her.
Speaking of Amity, the young witch hugged her fiancee close, hoping her presence was enough to soothe Luz. However, the young witch's face told the mothers Amity alone wouldn't be enough.
Eda and Camila moved to comfort their daughter when Lilith stopped her sister from going in. Eda glared at her sister, but Lilith sent her a silent message. Eda understood the message right away.
It didn't sit right with her, but she figured she could let her kid's first mom handle this one.
Amity heard someone enter the room and look into Camila's eyes. A silent message was sent between the future in-laws, and Amity looked at Luz. She was reluctant but decided maybe Camila was the best choice to handle this one.
So, with a quick kiss on the cheek, Amity stood and started to leave. Camila stopped her by grabbing her shoulder. She hugged Amity and whispered something her thanks. Amity returned the hug wholeheartedly.
The two broke apart a few seconds later, and Amity closed the door on her way out. Camila sighed and took Amity's place by her daughter's side. Immediately, Luz leaned into her mother's side, and Camila wrapped an arm around her daughter.
The two sat in silence for the next few minutes.
"Why aren't you mad?" Luz suddenly asked, her voice very small.
Camila just sighed and gently grabbed Luz by the chin. She lifted her daughter's head so they were making eye contact, and Camila just happened to see Luz's egg under the sheet.
"I'm not going to lie," the human mother said softly, "I have been scared, even now that I have seen the beauty of this place."
"But why?" Luz asked, her voice raising. "I lied to you? I had made so many mistakes! I nearly-I nearly-"
"No, Luz!" Camila stated firmly, taking her daughter into a hug. "You did nothing wrong! That's nightmare talking!"
"But-" Luz started.
"No buts, Luzura!" Camila gently cut in.
Luz was startled, this was the first time her mom had called her by her full witch name, and she gave her mother her full attention.
"We all make mistakes," Camila explained gently. "Making mistakes is part of living. I could list the many mistakes I made in the last ten years. But, the mistake I regret the most is the one that still keeps me up at night; when you needed someone the most, I didn't fight hard enough for you."
Camila offered her daughter an empty smile as she told her the next time.
"Mija, I was a lot like you; I was bullied because I like Comsic Frontier. When you were born, I made a promise; I would do anything I could so you didn't have a hard time like me."
Camila choked out a sob as she remembered how she was picked on because of her interests, and if she hadn't meant Manny, things would have turned out differently.
Luz looked at her mother and probably saw how alike they were for the first time. This brought her close to tears.
Camila gave her daughter a sad smile as she said, "I know this doesn't make up for much, but know that I love the good witch you have grown into, and I will always be here for you. Te amo, Luzura Necoda-Clawthorne!"
Luz was crying now as she finally realized something.
"Oh my gosh," Luz gasped softly, tears falling freely. "I think I realized something."
Unknown to the Noceda women was the small crack that started to form on Luz's egg. A soft glow came from the crack as it grew.
"I don't know why it took me this long to figure it out," Luz said softly. "But, all I ever wanted was to be understood."
Suddenly, a burst of magic exploded as the egg completely hatched, startling the two humans. A few seconds later, the rest of the Familia burst through the door, concerned by the noise.
"What happen…ed" Eda trailed off as she took in the scene before her.
There was a giant hole in the roof, but she didn't see it. No, what caught the ex-wild witch's attention was the purple snake with cat ears gently wrapped around her student/daughter's neck and licking her face with its forked tongue.
"Oh, witchlet," Eda smiled softly as she walked up to Luz and hugged her. "You have a beautiful Palisman."
Luz couldn't help but agree as she gently off the snake from her neck and looked lovingly into her eyes.
"Yeah…" Luz replied lovingly, "Stringbean is one lovely snake-shifter."
Camila and Eda exchanged warm smiles and then hugged their daughter again. It wasn't long before Amity and Vee hugged their sister/fiancee. Lilith was the last to join the family hug, stopping only to look at the hole in the ceiling.
Unknown to the Familia was a ball of blue light floating away from Stringbean's eggshell and through the hole in the ceiling.

I really hope I did the last season justice. I kinda struggled with how to use the event in the series that brought Stringbean to life because the events of my series softened the burden Luz felt because of everything that happened to her in canon.
But I degrees; we're reaching the end of the "settling" arc, and I have something planned for the final chapter in this arc.
